Chapter 712: Inheritance
by Sunflower“It’s really rare. This time, after the mission, Captain Obito didn’t give us a holiday.”
Walking to the Training Ground, Anko said casually.
Usually, after a mission, Obito would give them a holiday based on the difficulty of the request. One day for easy ones, and two to three days for more difficult ones.
“Maybe this mission was too simple. Even though it was an S-rank Mission, there was no combat at all,” Kotetsu Hagane complained.
This was his first S-rank Mission, and he was very nervous at first, worried about holding Obito back in a fight. He didn’t expect it to be so simple.
“Indeed, it felt like a C-Rank Mission,” Izumo Kamizuki nodded.
“But it’s still good, since the commission fee was still an S-rank fee.”
Loving the village was one thing, but doing missions wasn’t volunteer work; money was also one of their goals.
The three chatted and laughed along the way, quickly approaching the Training Ground.
“Captain Obito, good morning!” Anko saw Obito, who had arrived early and was waiting, and raised her hand, smiling as she greeted him.
Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane also smiled and greeted Obito.
“Hmm, good morning to you too,” Obito responded with a smile.
“What are we training today? Taijutsu, or Ninjutsu?” Anko asked curiously.
“Neither. Today we’re doing special training,” Obito replied.
At first, no one paid attention to this so-called special training, until Obito announced the rules.
“The three of you can use any means to attack my Shadow Clone. If you hit the Shadow Clone, the training will end. If you don’t hit it, for every minute the Shadow Clone successfully evades, five questions will be generated. The time limit is ten minutes.”
Izumo Kamizuki and the others were stunned.
They were going to attack Obito? Even a Shadow Clone might not be possible.
“Don’t worry, my Shadow Clone will only dodge and not attack, and its speed won’t be too exaggerated.” As if seeing through their thoughts, Obito explained.
“Does that mean if we don’t hit the Shadow Clone within ten minutes, we’ll have to do a full fifty questions?” Anko asked, her eyes wide.
“That’s right,” Obito affirmed with a nod.
The smile on Anko’s face disappeared, and she suddenly covered her forehead, saying:
“Oh no, I feel a bit dizzy. Did I catch a cold because I didn’t cover myself last night?”
Then Anko put her hands together and looked at Obito, “Captain Obito, I’m sorry, but I won’t be participating in training today. I’m going to Konoha Hospital to see a doctor.”
After speaking, Anko turned and walked in the direction of her home, wanting to escape this place of great terror.
It wasn’t that Anko wanted to be lazy, but that the special training was too terrifying.
Whoosh!
Obito flashed and appeared in front of Anko, smiling as he looked at her and said:
“I don’t think this is the way to Konoha Hospital.”
Anko patted her head, showing an annoyed expression, and said:
“Captain Obito, I’m so sorry, my head is getting overheated, I even took the wrong path.”
Then Anko casually changed direction.
Obito reached out and placed his hand on Anko’s shoulder, his immense strength making it impossible for Anko to move an inch.
“You Guys are the worst batch I’ve ever led. When Muzuki-sensei used this special training to train me, I actively participated,” Obito shook his head and said.
The three were speechless. In a sense, Obito wasn’t wrong, because Obito had only led their one squad.
“Captain Obito, can it be fewer? Like one question every two minutes or something?”
Anko blinked her lively big eyes, trying to awaken her captain’s conscience through cuteness.
“This is already a toned-down version of the special training. Why do you think Might Guy and Shisui and I are so strong? The training Muzuki-sensei assigned us was beyond your imagination,” Obito said with a serious expression.
Seeing Obito so serious, Anko also subconsciously became serious and stopped joking around.
Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane were the same.
“Captain Obito and Guy-senpai were once dead last. To have their current strength, it must have been incredibly difficult,” Kotetsu Hagane thought to himself.
They knew some of Obito’s past, so they instantly believed his words.
Unfortunately, Obito was actually deceiving them this time. While Obito and the others hadn’t had it easy, the question-solving training was usually of this intensity.
“Captain Obito, let’s start the special training! I definitely won’t disappoint you!” Kotetsu Hagane shouted with a passionate expression.
Seeing his persuasion tactics working, Obito’s lips curved into a slight smile, and he formed a hand sign to create a Shadow Clone.
“Begin!”
After Anko and the others were fully prepared, Obito announced the official start of the special training.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!
Anko, Kotetsu Hagane, and Izumo Kamizuki all unleashed their full Chakra, charging towards Obito Shadow Clone.
Anko didn’t want to do questions, while Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki weren’t afraid of theoretical questions, but wanted to get a good score.
However, the trio’s movements were like playing poker with all cards face up in front of the battle-hardened Obito. Obito Shadow Clone easily dodged them, then used its superior speed to run circles around the three.
Seeing this, the three exchanged glances, then charged in three different directions, forming hand signs as they ran.
“Fire Release: Flame Vortex!”
“Water Release: Raging Stream Blast!”
“Lightning Release: Violent Lightning Spear!”
They vaguely understood Obito’s intention.
At the speed of Obito Shadow Clone, even Anko, the fastest among them, had no chance of catching up. So they had to cooperate to achieve better results in this special training.
“Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!”
Obito Shadow Clone also formed hand signs and used Fire Release, spitting out a sea of flames.
Boom! Boom! Boom!!!
A huge explosion sounded, and thick smoke rose from the blast.
Izumo Kamizuki and the other two frowned. Under the powerful Fire Release of Obito Shadow Clone, their attacks were all blocked. This special training was harder than they had imagined.
Looking at the three with their worried faces, the smile on Obito’s face grew a little wider.
He had been tormented quite a bit by this training back then, and he didn’t know how many questions he had done because of it.
Of course, the results were also very significant; his Breathing Technique and combat abilities had both improved quite a bit.
“Training over. Now each of you needs to do fifty questions.” After ten minutes, Obito called a halt.
“No!” Anko was heartbroken, feeling like the sky had fallen.
These weren’t just fifty questions, but her miserable life in the future.
The thought of this special training happening a second or even third time made her dizzy.
“Still too weak,” Kotetsu Hagane looked at his hands, feeling his own weakness.
Although their ages weren’t far apart, their strengths were truly worlds apart.
“Don’t worry, you have two choices next. One is to undergo more strenuous training to offset the questions, and the other is to continue training as usual, but do the questions after today,” Obito said with a smile.
He wasn’t a demon either, and he knew how torturous such training was for those not good at theory.
“I choose to offset the questions!”
Before Obito could even state the specific training content, Anko was the first to step forward and declare.
For her, any amount of training, no matter how hard, was better than doing questions.
“Me too.” x Two
Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane followed suit. Their reasons were different from Anko’s; they simply wanted to become stronger.
“Alright, let’s begin.” Obito nodded with a smile, then trained the three for an entire morning, referencing Guy’s past training intensity.
By the end of the morning training, Anko and the other two were drenched in sweat. Even when Obito called them for lunch, it took them several minutes to stand up.
“Eat this.” Obito fed the training secret medicine Muzuki had given him to Anko and the other two.
Muzuki’s training secret medicine could not only eliminate hidden injuries but also effectively relieve physical fatigue.
After taking the secret medicine, Anko and the other two felt a bit better and slowly walked with Obito to a barbecue restaurant.
“Today, it’s my treat. Order whatever you want,” Obito said grandly.
The three had pushed themselves to their physical limits today and were already starving. Hearing Obito say this, they didn’t hold back and ordered a pile of meat.
“Wuwu, Captain Obito, you’re so good,” Anko said, eating large mouthfuls of meat while not forgetting to thank Obito, their host.
Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki also gave Obito a thumbs-up.
Obito just smiled faintly and said nothing. After today, such opportunities would be few and far between.
After a midday break, Anko and the others recovered their energy.
“Captain Obito, let’s continue training. I remember there are still fifteen questions left?” Anko proactively said.
According to the rules Obito himself set, they had offset thirty-five questions with their morning training. Now, they only needed to offset fifteen more, and Anko could say goodbye to theory.
“Don’t rush, there’s more than one special training,” Obito said with a smile.
Anko felt a headache coming on. She had just managed to offset thirty-five questions, and now more?
“This afternoon is combat training. One side is offense, one side is defense. The offensive side starts with forty questions and needs to hit the defensive side as much as possible. Each hit on the defensive side reduces two questions.
The defensive side, on the other hand, needs to dodge attacks as much as possible. Each time they are hit, two questions accumulate,” Obito explained the rules.
“We’ll do two rounds. In the first round, Izumo, you’re offense and Kotetsu, you’re defense. In the second round, you switch roles.”
Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane looked calm.
This special training was much easier and simpler than the morning’s. As long as they didn’t move, they would both only have to do forty questions.
“I almost forgot to show you. If you have any questions remaining at the end, the questions you’ll have to do will look something like this.” Obito pulled out a test paper he had prepared in advance.
This was a new test paper he had carefully compiled from the questions Muzuki had given him.
“Material 1: During the Warring States Period, there were two powerful Ninja clans. One was the Senju Clan, which valued love, and the other was… Based on the content of the material and your acquired knowledge, analyze…” Izumo Kamizuki scanned the questions and realized his previous attitude had been a bit hasty.
The questions Obito wanted them to do were not simple; they weren’t as easy as he had imagined.
Kotetsu Hagane’s expression changed slightly, and he secretly became more cautious.
“Kotetsu, why don’t you let me hit you ten times first, and then I won’t move. Then in the next round, you hit me ten times. That way, we’ll both only have to do forty questions,” Izumo Kamizuki suggested in a low voice.
“Then why not just not move at all? Wouldn’t that be simpler?” Kotetsu Hagane didn’t agree.
“After all, it’s Captain Obito’s training. Standing still would be too disrespectful to him,” Izumo Kamizuki explained.
Kotetsu Hagane was unmoved.
“Alright then, let’s both not attack each other,” Izumo Kamizuki reluctantly agreed.
“Start!”
At Obito’s command, Izumo Kamizuki immediately unleashed the Chakra he had prepared and attacked Kotetsu Hagane.
“I knew you little punk had ill intentions,” Kotetsu Hagane cursed inwardly, and also unleashed the Chakra he had condensed in advance, dodging the attack.
At most, he just wanted to catch Izumo Kamizuki off guard, while Izumo Kamizuki wanted to leech twenty questions off him.
To reduce the number of questions, both sides went all out.
There was no other way. According to the amount of training required to offset questions in Obito’s previous training, even if they trained desperately for half a day, they could at most offset thirty-five.
If they still had to shoulder forty more questions in the afternoon, then after a day of strenuous training, they would still have to do twenty difficult questions at home. How unpleasant that would be.
“Good thing there are only three squad members,” Anko thought to herself, relieved.
“Come here, special training is for everyone.” Obito had a Shadow Clone help Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane count, while his main body led Anko to the trap zone he had set up.
“You need to dodge the traps within the time limit, avoid my Shadow Clone’s interference, reach the designated location, and retrieve the token. Even a little late, and you’ll have to do more questions.”
Anko’s smiling expression instantly froze. This sounded even more troublesome and tiring than what Izumo Kamizuki and the others were doing.
After the special training, Anko and the others found their question count increased by dozens.
But the question-solving special training wasn’t over yet. By the end of the afternoon training, Anko and the other two were each burdened with hundreds of questions.
“What is the meaning of life?” Anko lay on the ground, her eyes vacant, muttering to herself.
She thought she might never forget today.
“It’s not that exaggerated. I didn’t ask you to finish it in a few days. You can take your time with these questions, whether it’s a few months or a few years,” Obito couldn’t help but laugh.
“Anyway, that’s all the questions there are. I won’t be your captain tomorrow, so I won’t be able to give you special training anymore.”
Hearing Obito’s words, Anko and the other two, who had been exhausted and listless from over-training, instantly stood up.
Anko quickly asked, “Captain Obito, why won’t you be our captain anymore? Are you dissatisfied with us? Actually, I don’t hate this special training that much.”
Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane also looked at Obito nervously.
“Haha, you haven’t forgotten that I’m a temporary captain, right? Your captain has fully recovered, and my duty is over,” Obito scratched his head and explained.
Anko and the other two exchanged glances, only then remembering that their original captain was just injured, not dead.
Now the three were speechless. How could they ask him to stay? Although Ishizaka Yoshio wasn’t as strong as Obito, he was also very responsible. They couldn’t just go to Muzuki and ask to change captains.
“I’m just not the captain anymore, it’s not like I’m leaving Konoha. If you have time, you can still come to me to grade your test papers and ask questions about your training,” Obito said with a smile, patting their shoulders.
Anko and the others’ expressions brightened considerably then.
“However, I hope that in the future, whether you are performing missions or doing anything, you will think twice and be cautious. If you fail in special training, you only need to do questions, but the cost in reality is unpredictable,” Obito said with a serious expression.
This was what he believed Muzuki wanted to convey through the special training, and it was also one of the reasons why Obito conducted so many question-solving special training sessions today. He also wanted to pass on this idea to Anko and the others.
“We will remember!”
Listening to Obito’s words, and recalling everything from today, the three’s eyes were slightly red as they answered in unison.
“Then, goodbye. Tomorrow, Captain Yoshio will lead your training as usual,” Obito said with a smile, waving to the three.
“Captain Obito, thank you!”
The three loudly expressed their gratitude to Obito, shouting “Captain Obito” for the last time today.
