Chapter Index

On Monday, after Obito finished his morning routine, he created a Shadow Clone and quickly said,

“You hurry to school. It won’t be good if you’re late.”

“Hehe, still trying to trick me into taking the exam so you can be lazy? Do you think I don’t know today is the final exam?” the Shadow Clone sneered.

As another Obito, he could guess what the main body was thinking without a second thought.

“Anyway, you usually go to school. The theoretical exam is up to you,” Obito stated, seeing that he couldn’t fool him.

“Going to school is giving face to Teacher Muzuki. Don’t even think about the exam,” the Shadow Clone also declared, making it clear that taking the test was out of the question.

“If I go to the exam, both of us will suffer, but if you go, only one person will suffer,” the Shadow Clone analyzed, presenting a logical argument.

Obito instantly felt convinced; it seemed to make sense.

Obito had no choice but to dispel the Shadow Clone, then grumbled, “Damn Senju Tobirama, this Shadow Clone is completely useless!”

With his clone exam plan failed, Obito had no choice but to eat breakfast and head to school for the exam.

On the way, Obito encountered a few first-year juniors he vaguely remembered. Since they were students in Muzuki’s class and had participated in summer special training together, Obito remembered some of them.

“Good morning, Obito-senpai,” Kotetsu Hagane, Izumo Kamizuki, and Anko greeted Obito.

“Good morning to you too,” Obito replied with a smile.

“Obito-senpai, you don’t seem very happy. Did something happen?” Izumo Kamizuki asked.

“It wouldn’t be because of today’s exam, would it?” Kotetsu Hagane guessed.

“You could say that. I’m not very good at theoretical exams,” Obito nodded.

“Eh, Obito-senpai, you’re not good at theory either? Me too!” Anko exclaimed, as if she had found a kindred spirit.

“Those theoretical knowledge bits are so hard to remember; it’s normal not to be good at them,” Obito felt a sense of familiarity, as if he saw his own reflection in Anko.

“We actually also…” Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki tried to join in.

“Obito-senpai, don’t be fooled by these two tricksters. Their theoretical scores are excellent! They got a perfect score on the exam before last, and ninety-eight or ninety-seven on the last one,” Anko mercilessly exposed their lies.

“Perfect score? Are you Guys geniuses?” Obito was shocked. That thing could actually get a perfect score? Shouldn’t the human limit be sixty points?

“No, no, we just reviewed a bit more than usual,” Kotetsu Hagane honestly said, thinking that Shisui was the true genius.

“These two are too mean! They always bully me, a low-scorer in theory,” Anko said, hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks.

“Obito-senpai, what’s your usual score? It should be above eighty, right?” Anko asked, assuming Obito wouldn’t be as bad as her, only scoring seventy-eight.

“Uh, what’s your usual score?” Obito felt that this fellow academic failure was off. The sense of reflection and familiarity instantly vanished.

“Don’t laugh, Obito-senpai, but my grades are really bad, and they keep getting worse. My first score was only eighty, and last time it dropped to seventy-eight,” Anko sighed.

There weren’t many low scorers like her in Muzuki’s class, so Anko thought that even if someone scored low, it wouldn’t be below seventy-eight.

“I seem to see a familiar face ahead. Let’s talk again when we have time,” Obito said after hearing this, scanning around and immediately jogging forward.

“Guy, wait for me!” Obito truly didn’t want to stay with Anko and the others for another second. He felt as if a Kunai would pierce his heart if he stayed any longer.

Eighty points is a bad score, and reviewing more resulted in a perfect score. After hearing this, Obito almost had the misconception that exams were easy. If he had never scored above seventy, he almost would have believed it.

“My first exam was only twenty points!” Obito compared their initial scores, silently roaring in his heart. If he scored eighty points, he would stick the test paper to his clothes and announce it to everyone.

“Another morning full of youth!” Might Guy enthusiastically smiled at Obito, giving him a thumbs-up.

“Guy, are you very confident about this exam?” Obito asked, seeing Might Guy in such good spirits.

“Oh, right, today is the exam.” Might Guy’s raised thumb instantly drooped weakly, and the smile on his face froze.

Seeing Might Guy like this, Obito felt relieved and showed a comforted smile. This was how it should be; those first-year juniors were completely abnormal.

On the first day of the theoretical exam, although Muzuki did not participate in invigilation, he did wander around the examination hall a few times. On the second day of the theoretical exam, Muzuki went to the examination hall of Class 2, Grade 4, which was the class where Obito and Rin Nohara were.

Muzuki mainly came to check Rin Nohara’s performance in the practical exam.

Among Muzuki’s disciples, Rin Nohara’s strength was the weakest, quite a distance behind Might Guy and Obito, and she couldn’t even defeat some individual students in her class.

Now that Muzuki had taught Rin Nohara the Monster Strength technique and strengthened her Taijutsu, he felt that Rin Nohara’s performance should be better, and she should no longer lose to anyone other than Might Guy and Obito.

Rin Nohara became Muzuki’s disciple during the summer special training, and it had been almost five months since then.

“Teacher Muzuki,” Ueda Aya greeted Muzuki. She was responsible for invigilating Class 2, Grade 4 this time.

“Director Muzuki,” another invigilating teacher, not as familiar with Muzuki, added Muzuki’s title.

Muzuki smiled and nodded in response, “I came to see the students I was responsible for during the holidays.”

“Muzuki, you were also selected as an intern instructor?” Ueda Aya asked curiously.

This was no secret among the teachers; most of them already knew.

    “Mm,” Muzuki nodded.

“Which students are you responsible for? It must be Might Guy and Obito, right?” Ueda Aya speculated.

After all, Muzuki’s teaching ability was strong, and Ueda Aya felt that the school would definitely assign the most outstanding students to Muzuki.

“For Class 2, it’s those two,” Muzuki replied.

“Examinee Number One Rin Nohara and Examinee Number Two Uchiha Tekka, prepare for the exam,” the invigilating teacher announced.

As the exam began, Ueda Aya picked up the scoring sheet, no longer chatting excessively with Muzuki, preparing to grade seriously.

“Rin Nohara has bad luck this time. If she hadn’t met Tekka, she might have made it into the top four,” the Class 2 students discussed amongst themselves.

Since the last special training ended, Rin Nohara had performed very well in the class. In the last exam, besides Obito and Might Guy, who were the undisputed top two, only Uchiha Tekka could consistently beat Rin Nohara.

So they thought the situation would be similar this time.

“After all, Tekka was in Group A from the beginning of the special training, and Rin Nohara only seemed to be promoted to Group A near the end.”

Most students favored Uchiha Tekka, thinking that Uchiha Tekka was stronger than many students participating in the Grade Level Practical Exam, but only two people could come from one class, and Might Guy and Obito were too strong.

“Rin, you’d better hold back later. Don’t punch that Guy to death,” Obito said exaggeratedly.

He didn’t believe Uchiha Tekka could beat Rin Nohara.

“It’s not as exaggerated as you say, Obito,” Rin Nohara felt that her image in Obito’s mind seemed a bit different.

“Hehe,” Obito chuckled without answering, then waved his fist to cheer Rin Nohara on, “Go, Rin!”

Rin Nohara smiled gently, walked to the open combat area, and formed the confrontation seal, waiting for the battle to begin.

Uchiha Tekka also quickly entered the arena and took his stance, but he didn’t take this battle seriously; instead, he was thinking about how much gap there still was between him and Obito and Might Guy.

“I wonder how Uchiha Obito trains. It feels like the more I try, the bigger the gap becomes,” Uchiha Tekka felt a bit depressed recalling his battle with Uchiha Obito in the last exam.

“Battle start!” The invigilating teacher announced when both had taken their stances.

As soon as the invigilating teacher’s words fell, with a whoosh, Rin Nohara instantly disappeared from Uchiha Tekka’s field of vision, appearing at his side.

“Such a fast Body Flicker Technique!” Uchiha Tekka’s pupils sharply contracted, feeling extremely surprised.

But what surprised Uchiha Tekka even more was Rin Nohara’s Taijutsu that followed.

Caught off guard, Uchiha Tekka had no time to dodge and could only raise his arm to block Rin Nohara’s seemingly delicate little fist.

    Bang!!

With a loud bang, Uchiha Tekka was directly sent flying backward by Rin Nohara’s punch, hitting the ground hard and kicking up a cloud of dust.

Feeling the sharp pain from his arm, Uchiha Tekka was bewildered, looking at Rin Nohara’s slender arm with a face full of question marks.

If he were fighting Might Guy, Uchiha Tekka wouldn’t be surprised, but he was fighting Rin Nohara. He hadn’t expected Rin Nohara’s Taijutsu to become so strong.

Uchiha Tekka wanted to endure the pain and form hand signs to release Ninjutsu, but his arm injury slowed him down. Rin Nohara quickly rushed forward again, forcing Uchiha Tekka into a close-quarters struggle with Rin Nohara.

But how could Uchiha Tekka, already in poor condition, be Rin Nohara’s opponent? He was sent flying and knocked to the ground again in just two moves.

The surrounding students were silent, and even Obito broke out in a cold sweat watching Uchiha Tekka being sent flying back and forth.

“Is Rin Nohara’s Taijutsu that strong?” The surrounding students were dumbfounded. It was completely different from what they had imagined. Not only did Uchiha Tekka not win, but he lost without much resistance, a truly miserable defeat.

“Rin Nohara wins!” the invigilating teacher announced after completing the scoring.

“Teacher, quickly, have someone take me to the infirmary,” Uchiha Tekka, lying on the ground, felt like he was about to die.

“You continue invigilating. I’ll take him to the infirmary,” Muzuki said with a slight smile, adjusting his glasses.

He came mainly to see Rin Nohara’s performance, and he could come back for the second round of battles.

Muzuki carried Uchiha Tekka on his back and took him to the Ninja Academy’s infirmary for treatment.

“Thank you, Teacher Muzuki,” Uchiha Tekka, having recovered, thanked Muzuki.

“It’s nothing. As a teacher, it’s my duty,” Muzuki replied gently.

“Teacher Muzuki, am I the kind of person without talent?” Uchiha Tekka suddenly asked.

Being knocked out in the first round by Rin Nohara today made Uchiha Tekka feel a bit down. Although there was an element of being careless at the start, Uchiha Tekka reflected and knew that even if he hadn’t been careless, he would have only lost slower.

He accepted losing to Uchiha Obito. As a fellow Uchiha, Obito might have had a burst of potential.

He also accepted losing to Might Guy, after all, Might Guy was so hardworking that he was a bit abnormal.

He truly hadn’t expected to lose to Rin Nohara. Although Rin Nohara’s theoretical grades were very good, her practical combat had always been mediocre and unexceptional, the type Uchiha Tekka didn’t even bother to remember the name of.

From being the class’s top student to being cleanly defeated by Rin Nohara, Uchiha Tekka’s confidence was shattered.

“How could that be? The fact that you were initially placed in Group A during the special training shows that you were far ahead of many people.”

“Don’t deny yourself because of a temporary failure. You’ve been defeated, but haven’t you defeated them too? You must believe in yourself,” Muzuki said, turning back to comfort him as he was about to leave.

Upon hearing Muzuki’s words, Uchiha Tekka felt much better. Indeed, Obito and the others were only stronger than him by two semesters, while he had been stronger than them for three years!

“You rest well. I still have things to do,” Muzuki smiled, turned, and left, heading to the Training Ground where the practical exam was being held.

Muzuki felt that if motivational speaking had levels, he should be close to mastery. He had almost instinctively said those words.

The first round of battles was the longest, so Muzuki didn’t rush to the Class 2, Grade 4 examination hall. He went back to his own class to watch for a while.

Muzuki’s class was still much the same as before: Shisui was unshakeably the strongest, Anko was usually second as long as she didn’t encounter Shisui early, and Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane were in the third tier.

The remaining students weren’t weak; it was just that the ones ahead of them had already surpassed their current grade level.

“Director Muzuki, the average level of students in your class is too high. If you randomly pick a few people to go to other first-year classes, they would consistently be in the top four or top two,” the invigilating teacher praised.

Every teacher who came to invigilate Class 1, Grade 1 was shocked by the average level of Class 1, Grade 1. It was normal to have a few genius students; Konoha never lacked genius Ninja.

But an entire class being at an excellent level, that situation was very exaggerated. It was impossible for an entire class to be full of minor geniuses, right?

Muzuki humbly replied a few words and then had an idea: what if he suggested to the Third Hokage to change the Grade Level Practical Exam rules, from two people per class to a competition based on practical combat scores for the entire grade?

At that time, there would be a total of sixteen people in the Grade Level Practical Exam, and possibly twelve of them would be from Muzuki’s class. After the first round, it would essentially be an internal battle within Muzuki’s class.

However, this was of little significance to Muzuki; it would only make his class seem very strong and impressive, and the system wouldn’t give extra rewards.

In fact, comparing the average practical combat scores of each class was enough to know the strength of his class. In the last exam, the average practical combat score of Muzuki’s class was twice that of other classes.

When the first round of Muzuki’s class was almost over, Muzuki went to the Class 2, Grade 4 examination hall. Rin Nohara was Examinee Number One, and she was also the first to start in the second round.

    There’s still
