Chapter Index

“I haven’t seen Obito in a while. I wonder how he’s doing.” Rin Nohara looked a bit worried on her way home after training.

Ninja Academy never concealed the cruelty of the Ninja world; the dangers of missions and even battlefields were clearly stated by the school.

But hearing teachers talk about various sacrifices and deaths in battle is one thing, and having someone close to you die in battle is another. Since learning that Kakashi’s teammate sacrificed himself on a mission, Rin Nohara truly understood the cruelty of being a Ninja.

And Obito has a personality that easily gets carried away, so Rin Nohara was really worried that Obito would get injured on a mission because of this trait.

“Obito, Kakashi, Guy, why are you all together?” Rin Nohara suddenly saw a few familiar figures.

“Wuwuwu.” Hearing Rin Nohara’s voice, Obito looked up in surprise, but remembering the bet, he could only gesticulate and make sounds that normal people couldn’t understand.

Even Rin Nohara, who knew Obito extremely well, was a bit bewildered by his seemingly possessed actions and didn’t know what was happening for a moment.

“Kakashi, what’s wrong with Obito?” Rin Nohara could only look to the reliable Kakashi.

But Kakashi didn’t answer Rin Nohara; he just met her gaze.

Rin Nohara felt even stranger looking at the silent Kakashi. Could Obito’s unreliability be contagious?

Might Guy’s next words answered Rin Nohara’s confusion.

“Haha, because they both lost to me in the running race, they can’t speak today.” Might Guy laughed, giving himself a thumbs up.

Running a hundred laps requires a lot of stamina, not to mention they had just returned from traveling and were already quite tired. So, Might Guy, who had stronger stamina and perseverance, finished first.

Rin Nohara was a bit speechless. The punishment was not being able to speak for a day. Were they children who didn’t go to school, playing such a punitive game?

“Aren’t you Intern Ninjas now? Aren’t you supposed to go on missions? Why are you competing with Kakashi?” Rin Nohara’s big eyes were full of confusion.

“That’s right, we just finished a mission and came back.” Might Guy nodded in response.

“Mmm mmm…” Obito was so anxious. He really wanted to share his heroic performance in battle with Muzuki-sensei and Kakashi’s burdensome moments with Rin.

“Damn Kakashi, he’s targeting me!” Obito roared internally.

Might Guy challenged Kakashi and he directly refused, but when Obito just casually mentioned it, Kakashi immediately agreed. This was blatant targeting!

“Could it be that he already anticipated this situation and was worried that I would tell Rin about his poor performance?” Obito’s mind raced, suddenly realizing.

“Despicable Kakashi, just you wait until tomorrow, I’ll expose everything about you!” Obito planned to thoroughly badmouth Kakashi tomorrow.

“So that’s it. Your relationship with Kakashi is really good; you look for him to compete as soon as you get back.” Rin Nohara said with a smile, a look of sudden understanding on her face.

“That’s not it! Because this Guy is our teammate!” Obito felt a bad premonition looking at Rin Nohara’s smile and desperately wanted to explain.

Obito could only hope Might Guy would explain, but Might Guy’s next words almost made him stumble and fall.

“Of course! Youth and friendship are the best match!” Might Guy replied with a brilliant smile.

“The bond between boys is really good.” Rin Nohara sighed.

Obito now hated himself for not knowing sign language. Otherwise, he would definitely use a speed surpassing hand seals to tell Rin Nohara everything through sign language.

“Oh, by the way, no one got hurt on your mission, right?” Rin Nohara asked with concern.

“No, not at all. Although the enemy was very strong, Muzuki-sensei protected the three of us very well.” Might Guy answered honestly.

“The three of us?” Rin Nohara suddenly noticed a problem.

She asked with some uncertainty, “Besides Guy and Obito, who is your other teammate?”

Obito breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Rin Nohara was quick-witted, otherwise, she would have misunderstood.

“Kakashi.” Might Guy scratched his head and replied.

“But isn’t Kakashi already a Chunin? Why would he be in an Intern Ninja class?” After getting confirmation, Rin Nohara became even more confused.

    Kakashi: …

Kakashi, who couldn’t speak now, couldn’t answer Rin Nohara’s question. But even if he could speak, Kakashi would have trouble answering; he himself was quite bewildered after learning it was an Intern Ninja class.

“This is the bond between me and my cherished friend!” Might Guy said with a passionate expression.

“Although I don’t quite understand, it’s really nice that everyone is together.” Rin Nohara said with a gentle smile.

Although the process was beyond her expectations, the outcome was still good. Even though she wasn’t there, Kakashi was still with Obito, and she believed Kakashi would take good care of Obito.

“It’s not good at all.” Obito furiously complained about Kakashi internally, even blaming Kakashi for Rin Nohara not being able to be an Intern. If not for Kakashi, maybe he, Might Guy, and Rin Nohara would have been in the same group.

“Goodbye, I’m going home. You all seem quite tired, so you should go home and rest early too.” Rin Nohara waved her hand and smiled goodbye.

Obito raised his hand, but ultimately put it down. If he lost, he had to accept it. Today, he would remain silent.

The next day, Muzuki gathered his disciples at Training Ground 26.

Muzuki’s designated meeting time was 8:00 AM. Kakashi and Might Guy arrived around 7:50, while Obito arrived at 8:10 AM.

“You’re late again.” Kakashi said coldly.

“That’s because…” Obito indignantly wanted to explain, but was interrupted by Muzuki.

“Before we start training, let’s have a summary meeting to review the last mission’s battle.” Muzuki said.

“Kakashi was too reckless, which led to him being controlled for over ten minutes!” Obito quickly summarized for Kakashi.

“Obito, you don’t understand combat at all. If I hadn’t warned you, you would have already fallen into the enemy’s trap.” Kakashi quickly retorted.

    Slap! Slap!

Two crisp tapping sounds rang out. Obito and Kakashi each clutched their heads.

“I asked you to summarize yourselves, not to summarize for others.” Muzuki said with a smile, lowering his hand.

“So fast, I couldn’t dodge at all.” Kakashi, who was hit for the first time, couldn’t help but think.

With Muzuki’s strong suppression, Obito and Kakashi stopped slandering each other and carefully considered their own shortcomings.

“My strength and explosiveness are still not enough. I need more training to master the Eight Gates as soon as possible.” Might Guy spoke first.

Might Guy’s training was not as varied as Kakashi’s and Obito’s. He focused solely on Taijutsu, with the Breathing Technique and the Eight Gates as its core.

    There’s still more to come.
