Chapter 394: Is Obito born evil?
by Sunflower“If a Grandma slowly walked past you and slowed down your travel speed, would you want to hit her?” Obito asked Uchiha Itachi.
After Uchiha Itachi understood Obito’s words, his large eyes looked at Obito in confusion, “Why… why would I hit a Grandma?”
Obito scratched his hair. Of course, a normal person wouldn’t hit her, but you’re capable of wiping out your entire clan, so hitting a Grandma should be a common occurrence, shouldn’t it?
Obito thought for a moment and decided he needed to give Uchiha Itachi a few options, so he couldn’t answer his question with another question.
“You encounter a slow-moving Grandma while crossing the street. You now have three choices.”
“A. Help the Grandma cross the street.”
“B. Ignore the Grandma and go your own way.”
“C. Snatch the lollipop from the Grandma’s hand.”
After stating the question and options, Obito immediately added, “You are not allowed to answer a question with a question. You must choose one option.”
Shisui looked at Uchiha Itachi, curious about Uchiha Itachi’s choice.
Although Obito’s question was somewhat childish, Uchiha Itachi was still young and wouldn’t have too many ulterior motives, so it could serve as a test to some extent.
Uchiha Itachi stared blankly at Obito. After two minutes, he replied, “I choose B, to keep my distance and go my own way.”
Obito showed an ‘as expected’ expression. He could tell at a glance that Uchiha Itachi was not a good child; he didn’t even know how to respect elders and care for the young.
“He’s indeed a naturally evil brat. To have such thoughts at such a young age, wouldn’t he be snatching lollipops in a few more years?” Obito thought to himself.
“Then Itachi, why did you choose B?” Shisui wanted to know Uchiha Itachi’s thoughts.
“I tend to fall when I walk. If I get too close to Grandma, I might cause her to fall with me,” Uchiha Itachi honestly replied.
Shisui looked at Uchiha Itachi with some surprise. He spoke somewhat indistinctly yet had such clear thoughts; it was possible he truly was an extraordinary genius.
Obito’s expression froze, while Shisui showed a thoughtful expression.
“Why don’t you snatch the lollipop from Grandma’s hand? She walks very slowly, she won’t be able to catch you,” Obito whispered, like a demon tempting someone to fall.
“How can you snatch other people’s things, Obito-Nii? Snatching other people’s things is a very bad thing,” Uchiha Itachi said with a serious expression.
Uchiha Itachi’s words made Obito feel a bit flustered. He was here to test, but it felt like he was the one who had become the naturally evil Uchiha.
“Let’s not talk about this anymore, Itachi. Do you want to hear a story from me?” Shisui stepped forward to break the awkward situation.
Uchiha Itachi shifted his gaze to Shisui and nodded.
“Once upon a time, there was a Ninja…” Shisui told a very cliché positive energy short story.
The general plot was about a Ninja with a tragic childhood who, with optimism and upward mobility, changed his surroundings and ultimately made his country and the world better.
Just as the story finished, Uchiha Fugaku returned to the living room. Seeing this harmonious scene, he smiled, “It seems you two are getting along very well.”
Shisui smiled faintly and praised Uchiha Itachi, and Obito followed suit with a compliment.
Uchiha Fugaku’s smile grew even wider.
“Thank you for your trouble today, Uncle Fugaku,” Shisui prepared to leave.
Uchiha Itachi was too young, and Uchiha Fugaku would be quite attentive, so it wasn’t suitable to stay too long.
“No trouble at all. If you have any problems in the future, just come to me like today,” Uchiha Fugaku said with a chuckle.
“The big brothers are leaving, Itachi, do you have anything you want to say?” Uchiha Fugaku looked at Uchiha Itachi.
Uchiha Itachi nodded and shifted his gaze back to Obito, “Obito-Nii, bullying Grandma is bad.”
Uchiha Fugaku looked at Obito with some surprise, curious as to why Uchiha Itachi would say such a thing to Obito.
Obito:…
“You’re the one who would bully Grandma!” Obito roared inwardly. He was a good Konoha youth who always helped Grandmas cross the street.
“Itachi, I was just making a hypothesis. I wasn’t really saying I was going to do such a thing,” Obito explained aloud.
Uchiha Itachi responded with an “Oh” and nodded.
Obito felt a sense of powerlessness and his gaze towards Uchiha Itachi changed.
“As expected of the person who will wipe out the Uchiha clan in the future. He truly cannot be underestimated.” Obito felt that this Uchiha Itachi was very difficult to deal with.
“It’s just a child’s innocent words, Obito, you don’t need to mind it.”
Uchiha Fugaku smiled and explained for Uchiha Itachi.
Obito put on a magnanimous expression, indicating that he didn’t mind, and then walked out with Shisui.
After walking a little further, Obito couldn’t restrain his urge to complain.
“This Uchiha Itachi is indeed not simple. To have such thoughts at such a young age, perhaps he used many schemes during the clan massacre,” Obito grumbled.
To this, Shisui offered a different opinion, “I, on the other hand, believe we shouldn’t view the current Uchiha Itachi with strange eyes based on future events.”
“The future Uchiha Itachi, no matter for what reason or what difficulties he faced, committed an unforgivable sin by carrying out the clan massacre. But that is ultimately the future Uchiha Itachi.”
“The current Uchiha Itachi is just a child whose speech is still indistinct; he doesn’t necessarily harbor much malice.”
Shisui felt that cross-temporal judgment was not advisable; one should not directly attribute the crimes future Uchiha Itachi would commit to past Uchiha Itachi.
“I think what you’re saying, Shisui, makes a lot of sense, but what should we do? We can’t just stand by and do nothing, can we?” Obito scratched his head and said.
“Of course we have to intervene. We can guide him towards good,” Shisui stated his solution.
Shisui planned to guide Uchiha Itachi as a senior, helping him become a Ninja who loved his clan and village, and who possessed a strong sense of responsibility.
……
Tsunade’s courtyard.
Muzuki and Tsunade sat on the stone benches in the courtyard, while Shizune and Rin Nohara stood meticulously in front of them.
Six months ago, Muzuki and Tsunade made an agreement to exchange disciples for half a year. Although Rin Nohara still went out on some missions in between, overall, Rin Nohara spent most of this half-year studying Medical Ninjutsu with Tsunade.
Today was the time to test the results of her training.
“Rin, show me what you’ve learned,” Tsunade said confidently, crossing her arms.
Rin Nohara had excellent talent in Medical Ninjutsu and was very diligent in her studies. After half a year of instruction, Tsunade was very optimistic about Rin Nohara’s future in Medical Ninjutsu.
Based on Rin Nohara’s current medical skill, Tsunade felt that Rin Nohara could definitely be promoted to Special Jonin.
As for official Jonin, there was still some distance, as Rin Nohara was lacking in direct combat.
“Okay, Lady Tsunade,” Rin Nohara nodded and walked to the stone table, picking up a bloody fish.
“Mystical Palm Technique!”
Rin Nohara gathered a large amount of Chakra in her palm, then performed Yang Release Chakra Nature Transformation to change the nature of the Chakra.
A rich green light bloomed in Rin Nohara’s palm, enveloping the bloody fish in Rin Nohara’s hand.
Under the effect of Yang Release Chakra, the fish’s wounds in Rin Nohara’s hand rapidly healed, leaving not even a single scar.
The completely healed fish became lively and struggled continuously in Rin Nohara’s hand.
Muzuki nodded. That fish had truly been on its last breath; if Rin Nohara had been even slightly slower, it would have died.
Next, Rin Nohara took a purple pill from the stone table and placed it into the fish’s mouth.
The fish, which had been lively and struggling, struggled less and less after eating the purple pill, and ominous purple patterns gradually appeared on its body.
“Detoxification is also a required course for Medical Ninja. Without first detoxifying in cases of poisoning, all treatment is meaningless,” Tsunade explained.
The reason she was the strongest Medical Ninja was not only because she could heal the body at extreme speed, but also because Tsunade possessed the strongest detoxification ability in the Ninja World. The Hidden Sand Village, who loved to use poison, found this ability of Tsunade’s extremely troublesome.
“Delicate Illness Extraction Technique!”
Rin Nohara held the poisoned fish tightly in her hand and activated the Ninjutsu to find the source of the poison.
After determining the location, Rin Nohara held the fish with her left hand and slightly raised her right hand.
“Chakra Scalpel!”
Rin Nohara concentrated a large amount of Chakra to strengthen her hand, making her palm incredibly sharp. The moment it touched the fish’s body, it left a scratch.
Rin Nohara precisely extracted the toxin and then treated the fish.
In fact, Rin Nohara had also learned how to prepare antidotes, but that took a relatively long time and was not suitable for demonstration.
Then, Rin Nohara used some more basic Medical Ninjutsu like hemostasis and recovery, demonstrating her solid foundation.
After completing the demonstration, Rin Nohara took two breaths and looked at Muzuki with some anticipation.
Being able to achieve this level was already the result of Rin Nohara’s desperate studying; her Chakra Scalpel had only been mastered a few days ago.
“Very good. Even some Jonin who have mastered Medical Ninjutsu couldn’t do any better,” Muzuki praised Rin Nohara’s excellence without reservation.
To keep up with Kakashi and Obito, Rin Nohara had indeed worked hard, and he had seen all of it.
Rin Nohara’s somewhat nervous heart instantly relaxed, and she broke into a joyful smile.
Rin Nohara respected Tsunade greatly, but in Rin Nohara’s heart, Muzuki was her true teacher, the one whose approval she most desired.
“I’ve truly troubled you, Lady Tsunade,” Muzuki said with a smile, thanking Tsunade.
Medical Ninjutsu truly had to rely on Tsunade. Although he had the teaching skill buff, this skill was limited by his own knowledge.
“You know, so why don’t you make more delicious food to reward me?” Tsunade replied impolitely, listing several of her favorite dishes.
For Tsunade, hints simply didn’t exist. If Muzuki didn’t understand or pretended not to understand, wouldn’t she suffer a huge loss?
Muzuki readily agreed. For him, it was a simple matter to do.
“Lady Tsunade, you know Shizune’s previous strength best, so you should test Shizune’s training results,” Muzuki said after some thought.
Progress in strength isn’t that easy for one person to discern, and Shizune hadn’t learned any high-power Ninjutsu, so a battle was needed to experience it.
“Shadow Clone Technique!”
Tsunade formed a hand seal and created a Shadow Clone, sending it to check Shizune’s learning progress.
“Shizune, attack me with all your might. Don’t have any psychological burden,” Tsunade’s Shadow Clone said with a relaxed expression.
Shizune nodded and immediately entered the Total Concentration Breathing state to enhance her abilities.
“Lady Tsunade, look out!” Shizune warned, then erupted with Chakra, using Soru to dash forward.
Although she definitely couldn’t defeat Tsunade’s Shadow Clone with her strength, proper respect was still necessary.
Whoosh!
Shizune’s figure flickered, instantly moving to the side of Tsunade’s Shadow Clone. Her right foot, which had already condensed a large amount of Chakra, slammed towards Tsunade.
Bang!!
The moment Shizune was about to make contact with the Shadow Clone, the Shadow Clone retreated at extreme speed, causing Shizune’s monstrous strength kick to hit the ground, shattering it.
Tsunade’s main body, observing the fight, was somewhat surprised. Shizune’s displayed speed and the sharpness of her attacks made it seem as if she was a Ninja skilled in Taijutsu, yet six months ago, Shizune’s Taijutsu was not outstanding even among Genin.
Shizune, whose first attack missed, did not get discouraged. She quickly organized a second wave of offense, and her sharp Chakra Scalpel even cut down a large tree in Tsunade’s courtyard.
Unlike Rin Nohara, who needed to go to Tsunade’s place to learn medical knowledge, Shizune, having lived with Tsunade for a long time, had already learned a great deal of medical knowledge. Muzuki’s teaching of monstrous strength and Chakra Scalpel to her went exceptionally smoothly.
For the first two minutes, Tsunade’s Shadow Clone did not initiate any attacks, only dodging, allowing Shizune to display her offensive capabilities.
After two minutes, Tsunade’s Shadow Clone displayed a portion of its strength, immediately reversing the offense and defense.
And although Shizune was beaten back steadily, she did not panic, doing her best to defend and then look for opportunities.
Of course, due to the immense difference in strength, Shizune ultimately fell under Tsunade’s hand blade.
“Shizune, were you slacking off when you were training with me before?” Tsunade asked Shizune after canceling her Shadow Clone.
“Of course not! I was very serious when I studied with you, Lady Tsunade,” Shizune quickly replied, patting the dust off her body.
“Alright, I was just joking,” Tsunade said with a laugh, seeing Shizune’s eagerness to explain.
Tsunade turned to Muzuki, “You’re such a good teacher. Let Shizune train with you for another year, and strive to make her capable of one-punching a Jonin.”
Shizune’s growth somewhat exceeded Tsunade’s expectations. Not only had she mastered monstrous strength and Chakra Scalpel, but her Taijutsu had also made significant progress.
“Another year of teaching is fine, but I can’t guarantee that Shizune will be able to one-punch a Jonin after a year,” Muzuki replied.
“Lady Tsunade, please don’t make things difficult for Teacher Muzuki,” Shizune said helplessly.
One-punching a Jonin, even Tsunade herself might not be able to do it. If it was just dealing with an ordinary Jonin, Tsunade could certainly resolve it with ease, but if she faced dozens of Jonin simultaneously, Tsunade definitely wouldn’t be able to easily and leisurely one-punch them all.
“You’ve only studied with Muzuki for half a year and you’re already siding with him,” Tsunade said, pinching Shizune’s soft cheek in dissatisfaction.
“Mmm-hmm~” Shizune was trying to explain, but her words became indistinct due to Tsunade’s actions.
Shizune’s half-year training plan came to an end. Muzuki then took time to check on Asuma’s training progress and provide guidance.
After finishing his training, Muzuki used the reason of needing to ask Hiruzen Sarutobi about Ninjutsu to go to his home with Asuma.
As for the real reasons, first, it was to let Hiruzen Sarutobi know that he had successfully mastered Flying Thunder God, to increase his apparent strength, and to make his genius persona even more perfect. Second, it was to use transformation to record Hiruzen Sarutobi’s panel.
Today, I revised the previous chapters and also perfected the outline of the upcoming plot, so today’s chapter is a bit short. If you read the previous chapter before 5 PM, you can reread it.
