Chapter Index

“Although some are scrawny, fortunately, I was prepared early.”

Might Guy placed Riolu on the ground and, without knowing where he pulled them from, produced a pile of green jumpsuits. He picked out the smallest one and held it up to Riolu, finding that it fit perfectly.

“No, why are your Nin-Beasts stranger than the last? Why does this one stand on two feet like a human?” Obito couldn’t help but complain as he watched Riolu stand on two feet.

“And Guy, your obsession with green jumpsuits is too deep. Do even your Nin-Beasts have to wear them?” Obito felt there were too many things to mock, and he couldn’t finish them all at once.

“It’s not an obsession; it’s just that this outfit is truly suitable for training and combat!” Might Guy said, giving Obito a thumbs-up.

“Obito, you should try it too. Trust me, once you wear it, you’ll fall in love with it.”

Might Guy then picked out another jumpsuit from the pile that was about Obito’s size and offered it to him.

Obito shook his head rapidly like a rattle drum, indicating his strong refusal.

“Just try it, it’s really comfortable.” Might Guy continued to recommend it nonchalantly.

He genuinely believed the green jumpsuit was good. If he had the chance, Might Guy wanted to promote this jumpsuit throughout Konoha, and even the Land of Fire and the Ninja World, to spread this comfort even further.

“Guy, go find Kakashi instead. I see him wearing a green vest every day; maybe he also likes this kind of green clothing.” Death to a friend, not to me. Obito decisively sold out Kakashi.

It wasn’t that Obito had any color discrimination; it was just that Might Guy’s jumpsuit was truly a deathly green. Obito felt that if he really wore it, even if he looked good, he would become unsightly.

    Kakashi:???

He wore the standard vest provided by Konoha for Chunin and Jonin. All Konoha Ninja wore green ones. How did that mean he liked green?

    “Kakashi, you…”

Before Might Guy could finish, Kakashi interrupted directly:

“I once went to a temple to have my fortune told. The master said my fate was countered by green, so I can’t wear green clothes, or I’ll encounter life-threatening danger.”

“If that’s the case, then there’s truly nothing to be done.” Might Guy stroked his chin and didn’t pester Kakashi anymore, turning his gaze back to Obito.

Obito was speechless. Kakashi was clearly making things up, and Might Guy actually believed him.

If Kakashi’s fate was countered by green, then he was Uchiha Madara, who, because he was injured by Wood Release, hated green and didn’t wear green clothes.

“Obito, if you don’t try it once, you’ll never know how comfortable this outfit is.” Might Guy strongly recommended.

“Guy, stop wasting your breath. I’m quite satisfied with my current clothes. You might as well wait for Shisui to come back and ask him.” Obito then brought up Shisui.

Shisui had been inexplicably busy these past few days and came to train less often.

Obito remembered that Shisui seemed to have become like this after attending some kind of combat exhibition. Obito had wanted to participate before because there were rewards.

Obito was happy to participate in activities with rewards; getting something for free was a very joyful thing.

However, Shisui said he had something important to do and asked Obito not to participate, so Obito didn’t go.

While getting free things was great, a brother’s request was more important.

Might Guy thought about it and found it made some sense, so he continued training and decided to recommend it to Shisui later.

Since Riolu had just been born, Might Guy didn’t make him train with him. Instead, he put Riolu on his back, and Might Guy continued with his one-finger push-ups.

Riolu felt Might Guy’s pure heart for training and couldn’t help but want to train with Might Guy.

However, because he had just been born and was still a bit clumsy, he couldn’t train effectively and was prone to falling. Fortunately, Might Guy was quick-witted and always caught him steadily, preventing any injuries.

“That’s so nice, it feels very heartwarming.” Rin Nohara exclaimed at the sight.

Although Riolu had just been born, the interaction between Riolu and Might Guy truly gave Rin Nohara a feeling like family.

“Rin, you don’t need to be envious. We’ll have that too, eventually.” Obito decided that in the future, if he could carry a Nin-Beast egg, he would never let it leave his hand, to ensure the Nin-Beast egg hatched as quickly as possible.

“Mm.” Rin Nohara smiled gently and nodded.

After a day of training, Muzuki, as usual, bought groceries and went to Tsunade’s house to make dinner. After eating, he chatted with Tsunade for half an hour about ideas for perfecting the Yang Seal.

Then, he declined Tsunade’s invitation for a game of Ninja Killer and returned home to study Sealing Technique and practice developing Yang Release Breathing.

Muzuki not only had multiple experiences developing Breathing Technique but also possessed two perfect-level Breathing Technique and two mastery-level Breathing Technique. When Muzuki officially practiced Yang Release Breathing, his progress was incredibly fast.

He mastered it in one second, went from beginner to proficient in one day, and in two weeks, his proficiency in Yang Release Breathing had reached 2,400, just 600 short of mastery, which would grant him control of Yang Release Breathing Chakra Mode.

“However, this is not the Yang Release Breathing I envisioned. Even if it reaches mastery, it won’t be able to fuse with Flame Breathing to become Sun Breathing.” Muzuki shook his head with some regret.

Originally, the Yang Release Breathing he envisioned should have been able to combine with a certain Chakra nature and the corresponding Breathing Technique, such as Fire Release Flame Breathing, stacking Yang Release Yang Release Breathing to become a stronger Fire Release.

But the current Yang Release Breathing was not like that. The current Yang Release Breathing’s effect was to enhance Yang Release, and the Yang Release Breathing Chakra Mode allowed for healing the body without hand signs, and also to a certain extent, allowed the body to grow larger, similar to the Akimichi clan’s Partial Expansion Jutsu.

To say that such Yang Release Breathing was weak was not entirely true; it strengthened Yang Release while inherently possessing the effects of Akimichi clan’s secret techniques and Mitotic Regeneration. However, it was indeed still very far from the Yang Release Breathing Muzuki had envisioned, leading Muzuki to wonder if he had gone slightly off track.

Around 9:30 PM, there was a sudden knock on Muzuki’s door.

Muzuki put down the manuscript in his hand, activated his Byakugan, and glanced towards the door, discovering it was Orochimaru.

“What does he want with me at this hour?” Muzuki pondered Orochimaru’s purpose as he walked downstairs.

After returning to Konoha, Muzuki hadn’t actually met Orochimaru very often, as Orochimaru seemed very busy, and Muzuki rarely saw him.

Opening the door, Muzuki showed a slightly surprised expression, “Orochimaru, please come in.”

“Lord Mu Yue, I apologize for the intrusion.” Orochimaru smiled slightly and followed Muzuki into the house.

Muzuki led Orochimaru into the living room and poured two cups of tea, placing one in front of Orochimaru.

“After returning to Konoha, there have been too many miscellaneous matters, making it impossible to converse with Lord Mu Yue as frequently as on the battlefield.”

Orochimaru picked up the teacup, took a sip, and sighed, as if he and Muzuki were good friends who often chatted when they had nothing else to do.

“After all, Orochimaru holds a high position and great power; Konoha needs him in too many places.” Muzuki chuckled and said.

He wasn’t entirely sure before, but with Orochimaru immediately trying to build rapport, Muzuki guessed that Orochimaru probably had something important to discuss with him.

Orochimaru put down the teacup, “The Ninja World is in a chaotic situation now; it’s not just me who is needed.”

    Muzuki made a listening gesture.

“Although Hidden Mist was repelled, Hidden Mist has no intention of signing a peace treaty with the Village, and war is very likely to break out again.” Orochimaru first briefly explained the current situation between Hidden Mist and Konoha.

Hidden Mist and Konoha had reached an unspoken understanding; neither had any immediate intention of taking action.

But this understanding was only temporary. Konoha was under pressure from other battlefields, while Hidden Mist had suffered losses in its Ninja forces.

Once either side resolved its own problems, war was very likely to erupt again.

“Kumogakure and Sunagakure are fighting fiercely. I want to take this opportunity to deal a heavy blow to Kumogakure to alleviate Konoha’s pressure,” Orochimaru explained.

Rather than waiting for Hidden Mist to recover and then launch an attack, Orochimaru definitely wanted to resolve the pressure from other battlefields and free up enough power to deal with Hidden Mist.

Even if that power wasn’t enough to counter-attack Hidden Mist’s homeland, it had to be enough to make Hidden Mist not dare to easily invade.

Muzuki understood Orochimaru’s meaning: ‘Do you want to go to the battlefield with me and achieve great deeds?’

Orochimaru was analyzing the Ninja World situation with him at over nine o’clock at night. Unless Orochimaru had nothing better to do, he was clearly trying to recruit Muzuki.

“Orochimaru, your foresight is truly admirable.” Muzuki praised, as if he hadn’t understood Orochimaru’s underlying message.

Orochimaru’s idea was good, but Muzuki didn’t want to go to the battlefield with Orochimaru.

The Kumogakure battlefield was far more dangerous than the Hidden Mist one. On one hand, Kumogakure’s strength was greater than Hidden Mist’s, and on the other hand, the Third Raikage was too reckless.

The Third Raikage genuinely goes all out when things get serious. If there was a major battle, there was a significant chance he would appear on the battlefield.

Muzuki wasn’t afraid of one Third Raikage. Although the Third Raikage’s defense was very strong, so strong that even Rasengan Shuriken could barely injure him, Muzuki had many offensive methods. With perfect-level Armament Haki and perfect-level Breathing Technique stacked, he could definitely break through the defense with full power.

But once on the battlefield, there would be no true one-on-one fights; anything could happen.

Even now, Muzuki still felt that the events on the Hidden Mist battlefield were too strange. Although Konoha won, it was only because of Muzuki, an unexpected variable.

That last battle in Hidden Mist was truly bizarre; their intelligence suddenly became far superior to Konoha’s, almost wiping out Konoha’s main forces in one go.

Muzuki, with Flying Thunder God, wasn’t worried about his own survival, but he also had to protect his disciples, which was another problem. So, Muzuki didn’t want to go to the battlefield.

At this time, his disciples had just completed a breakthrough, and it was a crucial period for their new stage of training. Even if Hiruzen Sarutobi wanted Muzuki to go to the battlefield, Muzuki would have to find a way to avoid it, let alone Orochimaru.

Orochimaru’s fingers rubbed the teacup, his expression unchanged, and he said directly:

“Lord Mu Yue, we cooperated very well on the Hidden Mist battlefield, so I would like to invite you to join me in the Land of Hot Springs battlefield to eliminate Kumogakure.”

It was indeed difficult to find a subordinate with both strength and ability like Muzuki. Even if Orochimaru guessed that Muzuki was feigning ignorance, he didn’t want to give up.

Orochimaru could actually sense that Hiruzen Sarutobi favored Jiraiya more, but Orochimaru believed that as long as his contributions were great enough and he gained enough support, Hiruzen Sarutobi would have no choice but to choose him.

Muzuki showed an expression of sudden realization, then said with a look of regret, “Orochimaru, although I would very much like to achieve great deeds with you, I genuinely cannot spare the time recently.”

Muzuki’s clear refusal still didn’t worsen Orochimaru’s expression.

Orochimaru showed a slightly apologetic smile and said, “My apologies, I didn’t consider your situation, Lord Mu Yue.”

Orochimaru didn’t leave immediately after Muzuki’s refusal. Instead, he chatted with Muzuki about the Ninja World situation for a while longer before bidding farewell.

“Did Danzo notice my actions and is using this to warn me?” Orochimaru’s eyes gleamed coldly as he left Muzuki’s house.

Normally, if he wanted to take Muzuki to the battlefield, he would have to notify Danzo Shimura first, because Muzuki was Danzo Shimura’s subordinate.

Muzuki’s previous assistance to Orochimaru was also a result of Danzo Shimura’s efforts.

So why did Orochimaru bypass Danzo Shimura and directly approach Muzuki?

Orochimaru’s main purpose was to probe Muzuki’s thoughts. If Muzuki agreed directly, it would mean Muzuki was willing to leave Danzo Shimura and side with him. Conversely, it would mean Muzuki still maintained Root’s stance.

Orochimaru didn’t want Danzo Shimura to have too much power in his hands.

It wasn’t that Orochimaru was already worrying about the Hokage’s affairs before becoming Hokage, but rather, if Danzo Shimura had too much power, their cooperative relationship would become unbalanced, which was unfavorable to Orochimaru.

To investigate whether the attitude Muzuki displayed was Muzuki’s own attitude or the result of Danzo Shimura’s influence, Orochimaru subtly asked Danzo Shimura some things about Muzuki.

Orochimaru was very cautious, only asking irrelevant things, and his reason was legitimate: curiosity about Muzuki, a genius Ninja he got along with very well.

But Orochimaru still underestimated Danzo Shimura’s cautiousness.

Danzo Shimura immediately felt that Orochimaru was acting strangely and immediately sent people to investigate Orochimaru’s movements, discovering that Orochimaru had actively contacted Muzuki multiple times without his knowledge.

“Well, well, Orochimaru, you even want to poach my Root’s most perfect creation.” Danzo Shimura was a bit angry.

He had gone to great lengths to help Orochimaru become Hokage, arguing with Hiruzen Sarutobi multiple times just to send Muzuki to the battlefield to support Orochimaru.

And this was how Orochimaru repaid him? He hadn’t even become Hokage yet and was already trying to poach his people.

If it weren’t for being too deeply bound to Orochimaru, with both knowing each other’s dirty secrets, Danzo Shimura would have truly wanted to reprimand Orochimaru severely as the Root leader.

But Danzo Shimura couldn’t, because Orochimaru was nominally a Root Ninja, his subordinate, but in reality, they were equals, collaborators.

“Hmph, Muzuki is loyal to me. It’s a futile effort.” Danzo Shimura sneered inwardly. This was something even Hiruzen Sarutobi hadn’t been able to do; he didn’t believe Orochimaru could.

Of course, confidence aside, Danzo Shimura still thoroughly investigated Muzuki. He always preferred to believe it than not.

When Danzo Shimura found that Muzuki never actively sought out Orochimaru, he finally felt at ease, believing that Muzuki was still the subordinate who was incredibly loyal to him.
