Chapter Index

As the combat training entered the Chakra usage phase, the battles between Shisui and Obito became even more intense.

Breathing Technique without Chakra and with Chakra were two completely different levels of intensity.

Stronger power and speed, accelerated Chakra Nature Transformation—these were all direct enhancements to raw strength.

When Obito and Shisui’s battles reached their climax, flames were almost continuously unleashed.

Nature Transformation Ninjutsu of the same attribute followed a one-to-one cancellation principle, meaning one point of Chakra-transformed flame could block one point of Chakra flame.

When Muzuki first transmigrated, Obito had slightly more Chakra than Shisui due to being older, but later, Shisui trained more diligently and even awakened his Sharingan, so his Chakra had long surpassed Obito’s.

His Taijutsu couldn’t compare, and now his Chakra couldn’t compare either, so in the second phase of combat, Obito felt greater pressure. On the first day, he was defeated again after not holding out for long.

With pressure came motivation, especially since Rin Nohara would also watch the battles during breaks. Obito’s desire to perform well fueled his motivation to the maximum. His Breathing Technique proficiency improved day by day, and he managed to hold out longer against Shisui purely by relying on his more skilled Breathing Technique.

When the second phase of training reached its last day, Obito fell into a disadvantage from the start, and under Shisui’s calm and swift offense, the disadvantage grew larger and larger.

Feeling that he was about to lose, Obito had no choice but to use Total Concentration Breathing to block Shisui’s attacks.

But Shisui could also use Total Concentration Breathing; Obito was merely prolonging his defeat.

“Damn it, Rin is watching, I definitely can’t lose too miserably.” Obito noticed Rin Nohara had arrived during the battle, and his originally fatigued body seemed to regain some vitality, while also becoming calmer.

The sudden burst of potential and calm fighting made Obito momentarily believe he was about to break his zero-win record.

Unfortunately, Shisui gave him no chance, fighting steadily and showing no weakness. Obito eventually lost due to exhaustion.

“Although you didn’t win, Obito, you performed very well. You seem much stronger than before,” Rin Nohara comforted him.

“Haha, is that so?” Obito’s slightly dejected mood instantly vanished, and he said with a silly grin.

“Hmm, good performance. After the third phase ends, we’ll do some review exercises, and you should have pretty much mastered the Breathing Technique,” Muzuki said, nodding.

After comforting the defeated Obito, Muzuki naturally didn’t forget Shisui, who maintained an undefeated record, and said with a gentle smile:

“I can see that you’ve put a lot of effort into your training, Shisui. Not only the Breathing Technique, but your Taijutsu has also made significant progress recently.”

“Yes, I’ve been practicing Taijutsu after returning home recently.” Shisui showed a happy smile, having his efforts recognized by someone he cared about.

“Obito, do you want to go find Kakashi together tonight?” Rin Nohara asked.

If Rin Nohara had omitted a certain name, Obito would have agreed without hesitation, but calling Kakashi made Obito have to think.

To ensure he would 100% defeat Kakashi in the next battle, Obito, after making progress, would ask Muzuki how much chance he had against Kakashi.

Currently, Muzuki judged that he might win, but the possibility was very small, and it would have to be based on Kakashi being careless and him performing exceptionally well and having a burst of power to win. So Obito was not planning to challenge Kakashi for now.

“Let’s go together. Training has been quite tiring recently; let’s relax a bit.” Obito finally agreed.

Tomorrow they would enter the third phase of combat training, and Obito felt that he might have a very hard time tomorrow, so he decided to enjoy an evening first.

Although Shisui was restricted from using his Sharingan, Obito was no match for Shisui even when he wasn’t using his Sharingan.

Facing Shisui with Ninjutsu restrictions lifted, Obito felt that holding out for three more minutes would be considered a success.

In the evening, Obito and Rin Nohara went to Kakashi’s house to find Kakashi.

This trip made Obito glad he had agreed to Rin Nohara today, otherwise he would have missed a good opportunity.

On this trip, Obito received two pieces of good news: one was that Kakashi was not home, and the other was that he could enjoy some alone time with Rin Nohara.

“Did he go out for a walk?” Rin Nohara thought for a moment and said.

“I don’t think so. He’s probably still out on a mission. I came to look for Kakashi once before and happened to run into his teammates calling him to go on a mission together,” Obito said with a smile.

“When was that?” Rin Nohara asked curiously.

Obito recalled for a moment and said, “It must have been over half a month ago. His mission this time is quite long.”

“Over half a month, being an official Ninja isn’t easy,” Rin Nohara nodded, feeling a bit regretful.

Then Obito and Rin Nohara played around for several hours, only separating to go home as the night grew deeper.

“Haha, Kakashi, just do more missions.” On the way home, Obito’s raised corners of the mouth was already a bit hard to suppress… In the Hokage Building, a Ninja with a tired expression and Kakashi walked into the Hokage Office.

“Hokage-sama, please allow me to resign from my position as a Jonin instructor.” The tired-looking Ninja bowed and said.

“I don’t want to serve as a Jonin instructor for now.”

“Toda, has something happened?” Sandaime asked, slightly frowning and puffing on his pipe.

“I failed to protect my disciples. I am not a qualified teacher,” Nagatomo Toda said, lowering his head.

“But you are a qualified Ninja; at least the mission was completed,” Kakashi said.

Hiruzen Sarutobi probably knew what had happened. There must have been an accident during the mission. Although the mission was ultimately completed, Nagatomo Toda’s two disciples had died, leaving only Kakashi alive.

Nagatomo Toda glanced at Kakashi, opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing.

“If that’s the case, then Toda, you should rest for a while,” Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed and nodded.

He could somewhat understand Nagatomo Toda. Nagatomo Toda was a very young Jonin, and those two disciples were the first students he had ever led, so it was normal for him to have deep feelings for them.

“Thank you for your understanding, Sandaime-sama. I will go back and rest now.” After receiving Hiruzen Sarutobi’s reply, Nagatomo Toda left directly, leaving Kakashi in the Hokage Office.

Looking at Kakashi’s indifferent expression, Hiruzen Sarutobi puffed on his pipe, feeling a bit of a headache.

He took out some documents and scanned them, finding no team into which he could place Kakashi. He would have to wait for Ninja Academy students to graduate and newly graduated Genin to form new teams.

“Kakashi, this mission was so tough, you should also rest for a while. I’ll arrange you into a new team after some time,” Hiruzen Sarutobi said after thinking for a moment.

“Mm.” Kakashi nodded, then turned and left.

“He still hasn’t come out of the shadow…” Hiruzen Sarutobi thought, looking at Kakashi’s back. Two years ago, Kakashi wasn’t like this. He changed after that incident last year.
