    Terms of Service

    Welcome to FeatherQuill (“FeatherQuill,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the FeatherQuill website, subdomains, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

    By accessing or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

    1. About FeatherQuill

    FeatherQuill is an independent collaborative project operated by two individual owners. We are not a registered corporation or company. All agreements made through the Service are between users and the owners of FeatherQuill.

    2. Eligibility & Age Requirement

    You must be at least 13 years old to use FeatherQuill or create an account.

    If you are under 18 years old, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service. We reserve the right to request proof of parental consent at any time.

    Accounts found violating this requirement may be suspended or terminated.

    3. Account Registration & Security

    When creating an account, you agree to:

    • Provide accurate and complete information
    • Keep your account credentials secure
    • Be responsible for all activity under your account

    You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use or security breach involving your account.

    We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain misleading information or suspicious activity.

    4. Ownership of Content

    4.1 Original Works

    Authors retain full ownership and copyright of their original novels and related content.

    By uploading content to FeatherQuill, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and promote the content through the Service.

    This license ends when the content is removed by the author or by FeatherQuill.

    4.2 Fan Translations

    Translators acknowledge that original source materials may belong to third-party copyright holders.

    By uploading translations, you confirm that:

    • You have permission to share the work, or
    • The content is shared under fair use, non-commercial, or otherwise lawful purposes

    FeatherQuill reserves the right to remove translated content upon receiving valid copyright complaints, DMCA notices, or cease-and-desist requests.

    Re-uploading removed content is prohibited.

    4.3 User Responsibility

    You represent and warrant that:

    • You own or have rights to the content you upload
    • Your content does not violate laws or third-party rights
    • Your uploads do not infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other protections

    FeatherQuill may remove any content at its discretion without prior notice.

    5. External Monetization

    Creators may use external platforms such as Patreon, Ko-fi, or similar services.

    FeatherQuill is not responsible for rewards, perks, or transactions conducted outside the platform.

    6. Prohibited Conduct

    You agree not to:

    • Upload unlawful, harmful, hateful, or infringing content
    • Violate copyright or intellectual property laws
    • Attempt to bypass security or premium systems
    • Use bots, scripts, or automated systems abusively
    • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
    • Disrupt the operation of the platform

    Violation of these rules may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans.

    7. Copyright & DMCA Policy

    FeatherQuill respects intellectual property rights.

    If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a copyright complaint or DMCA notice through our contact email.

    A valid notice should include:

    • Identification of the copyrighted work
    • Identification of the infringing content
    • Your contact information
    • A statement of good-faith belief
    • A statement confirming the accuracy of the complaint
    • Your signature or electronic signature

    FeatherQuill may remove reported content without prior notice.

    Repeat infringement may result in account termination.

    8. Fees & Third-Party Services

    FeatherQuill may use third-party services for:

    • Payment processing
    • Analytics
    • Advertising
    • Hosting and security

    Your use of those services may also be subject to their individual terms and policies.

    9. Termination

    FeatherQuill reserves the right to:

    • Suspend or terminate accounts
    • Remove content
    • Restrict access to the Service

    This may occur for violations of these Terms, legal requirements, security concerns, or harmful behavior.

    10. Disclaimer of Warranties

    The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

    FeatherQuill makes no guarantees regarding:

    • Availability or uptime
    • Accuracy of content
    • Reliability or security
    • Fitness for a particular purpose

    Use of the Service is at your own risk.

    11. Limitation of Liability

    To the maximum extent permitted by law, FeatherQuill and its owners shall not be liable for:

    • Indirect or consequential damages
    • Loss of profits or data
    • Service interruptions
    • User-generated content

    Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed USD $100.

    12. Indemnification

    You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FeatherQuill, its owners, and contributors from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from:

    • Your content
    • Your use of the Service
    • Your violation of these Terms or applicable laws

    13. Force Majeure

    FeatherQuill shall not be liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control, including:

    • Natural disasters
    • Internet outages
    • Wars or civil disturbances
    • Government actions
    • Payment processor outages

    14. Severability & Waiver

    If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain valid and enforceable.

    Failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

    15. User Content Liability

    Users are solely responsible for the content they upload or share on FeatherQuill.

    FeatherQuill does not actively monitor all uploaded content but reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

    16. Governing Law

    These Terms shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with applicable international laws and regulations.

    Any disputes arising from the use of FeatherQuill shall be resolved through appropriate legal processes in a competent jurisdiction chosen by FeatherQuill.

    17. Changes to These Terms

    FeatherQuill may update these Terms from time to time.

    If major changes are made, we will provide notice through the website or by email when possible.

    Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
