Chapter 256: Minato, Who Wants to Become a Teacher
by SunflowerBecause he gained some inspiration while chatting with Muzuki, Minato decided not to take on any missions for the next period of time and focus on developing Ninjutsu.
But just as Minato was thinking about how to imitate the Tailed Beast Ball, a Ninja came to inform him that the Hokage summoned him, so Minato quickly headed to the Hokage Office.
Knock, knock!
Minato knocked on the door of the Hokage Office.
“Come in.” Hiruzen Sarutobi’s voice came from inside.
Only then did Minato push open the wooden door and walk into the Hokage Office.
“Sandaime-sama, is there a mission you need me to do?” Minato didn’t waste any words and asked directly.
Being summoned directly like this meant either someone had specifically requested him for a mission, or the Hokage had a special task for him.
“It doesn’t exactly count as a mission.” Hiruzen Sarutobi took down his pipe, exhaled white smoke, and said with a chuckle.
“Minato, you’ve been a Jonin for a while now. Have you thought about becoming an instructor?”
Hiruzen Sarutobi greatly admired Minato, not only because Minato had outstanding Ninja talent but also because he had a great personality.
Thinking about this gave Hiruzen Sarutobi a headache; his three disciples were all strong, but they all had flaws in their personalities.
Tsunade was addicted to gambling and had started slacking off, and because of her hemophobia, she could only handle medical duties and couldn’t go to the battlefield to fight.
Orochimaru was cold-natured and, aside from a few people he had special relationships with, basically didn’t care about so-called comrades, using any means necessary to achieve his goals.
Jiraiya was considered normal compared to those two, just a bit lecherous, but Hiruzen Sarutobi felt that wasn’t a major problem.
If he had to choose one of his three disciples to become Hokage now, Hiruzen Sarutobi would choose Jiraiya.
Hearing Hiruzen Sarutobi’s words, Minato fell into thought.
Minato’s instructor was Jiraiya. Although Jiraiya often showed his lecherous side and had various unreliable moments, Minato believed from the bottom of his heart that Jiraiya was an excellent teacher.
Jiraiya rarely acted like a superior teacher with them; except when training, they usually got along more like friends.
Furthermore, when executing missions and teaching training, Jiraiya was always very reliable. Jiraiya’s unreliability was mostly in daily life; whenever he saw Jiraiya show a serious or earnest expression, Minato always felt a great sense of security.
Minato believed that Jiraiya deserved a lot of credit for his current strength.
Immediately after, Minato thought of Muzuki, recalling the heartwarming scenes of Muzuki getting along with his disciples at the camp.
That child named Uchiha Obito dared to talk back even to Jiraiya, yet he was completely obedient to Muzuki.
“I do.” Minato looked at Hiruzen Sarutobi and replied with a smile.
He also wanted to be a teacher, to nurture excellent Ninjas like his teacher Jiraiya, and to have a few outstanding and cute disciples like Muzuki.
Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded in satisfaction with a chuckle.
As Jiraiya’s disciple, and being so outstanding, Hiruzen Sarutobi believed that Minato had the chance to become the Fifth Hokage.
And to become Hokage, cultivating a successor was also a skill that needed to be mastered; the Second Hokage had cultivated him and Danzo, and Hiruzen Sarutobi had cultivated the Sannin.
“The Ninja Academy graduation exam is about to start, and soon there will be a batch of new Genin. You will be responsible for these three students.” Hiruzen Sarutobi handed three files to Minato.
Although the exam hadn’t started yet, the three students he had prepared for Minato were guaranteed to pass. Moreover, during the war, to increase the ability to deal with the war, the graduation standards of the Ninja Academy were lowered, so there was basically no situation where anyone couldn’t graduate.
Minato nodded and took the files, but froze after seeing the photos and names on them.
“Kakashi Hatake, Chunin…” Looking at the silver-haired boy with a mask, Minato felt a bit surprised.
He remembered this was a member of Muzuki’s squad, who had even gone to the battlefield with Muzuki last time. Given his current age, his strength could be said to be very outstanding.
“Muzuki was only leading an intern squad, and they would disband after the interns graduated, so is that why he’s being reassigned to me?” Minato thought of the reason.
Muzuki’s main job was still as a teacher at the Ninja Academy. Unless Kakashi followed Muzuki to the Ninja Academy as a teaching assistant, he had to be switched to another team.
“What an excellent child. It’s a pity that White Fang-senpai couldn’t…” After reading Kakashi’s file, Minato sighed in his heart.
When Minato saw the second file, he was a bit bewildered. It read Uchiha Obito, and the photo showed a black-haired boy with goggles smiling foolishly.
He knew this person too, because he was also Muzuki’s student. Minato still remembered when he was bumming a meal at Muzuki’s place, Obito teased him for looking like Muzuki’s twin brother, and he had even taken a photo for him.
When he saw Obito’s mission history, Minato was shocked. Obito, who was just a Ninja Academy student, actually had a record of two A-Rank Missions and one S-Rank Mission. One had to know that many Chunin didn’t even have a record of completing an S-Rank Mission.
“Even if Muzuki was leading the team, he shouldn’t have let interns go on missions of that level, right?” Minato felt a bit puzzled.
He could guess that the S-Rank one was because of the sudden outbreak of war, and he got an S-Rank mission mixed in with Muzuki, but he couldn’t guess the two A-Rank ones. There was also a B-Rank mission, but surprisingly, not a single C-Rank Mission.
After reading Obito’s record, he had to admit that this was an unprecedented Ninja Academy student, and there probably wouldn’t be another one like him in the future; this record was too heaven-defying.
When he saw the third student’s file, Minato breathed a sigh of relief, because it read Rin Nohara, not Might Guy.
If the third student had been Might Guy, Minato probably couldn’t help but ask Hiruzen Sarutobi what the point of such an arrangement was.
Two of the three students were Muzuki’s disciples, and Minato was already preparing to have a good chat with Muzuki when he went over to bum dinner.
“Minato, you need to pay special attention to the disciple named Kakashi Hatake.” Hiruzen Sarutobi stuffed his pipe into his mouth, exhaled a cloud of smoke, and said.
“You should know Sakumo Hatake, right.”
“Of course. White Fang-sama is so outstanding; there isn’t a Ninja in Konoha who doesn’t know his great name.” Minato replied. Upon seeing Kakashi’s surname, the first thing he thought of was White Fang.
“Kakashi is his child. After that incident, Kakashi changed completely, moving in a bad direction…” Hiruzen Sarutobi spoke with a sigh about Kakashi’s experience, from a Ninja Academy Chunin to an unliked, cold-blooded teammate.
“Thanks to Muzuki’s efforts, Kakashi seems to have returned to his former self, but I don’t know if this is temporary or permanent, so I’ll have to trouble you, Minato, to keep a close eye on him.”
Huge changes in a person can be seen with the naked eye. When he saw Kakashi in the mission hall before, Hiruzen Sarutobi knew he had changed; his entire aura had changed.
In order not to let Muzuki’s efforts go to waste, Hiruzen Sarutobi arranged for Rin Nohara and Uchiha Obito, who had good relationships with Kakashi, to be Kakashi’s teammates.
“I will.” Minato said solemnly. Even if Hiruzen Sarutobi hadn’t specifically reminded him, if he discovered his students having problems, he would resolve them, otherwise, he wouldn’t deserve to be called a teacher.
In the evening, Minato went to Muzuki’s house, prepared to chat with Muzuki about Obito and the others, and incidentally bum a meal.
It wasn’t that he had an obsession with bumming meals, but because if he went too early, Muzuki wouldn’t be home.
Except for mealtimes and evenings, Muzuki was basically always teaching students.
Minato skillfully helped Muzuki wash vegetables and then said with a smile, “Muzuki, I’m a teacher now too. Although I’m not teaching at the Ninja Academy, an instructor should count as a teacher.”
“An instructor is certainly a teacher. Besides, haven’t you already been my Sealing Technique teacher for a long time?” Muzuki said with a chuckle.
“Kushina did most of the work.” Minato said modestly.
Although Minato’s level of Sealing Technique was not as good as Kushina’s, he was still an expert in Sealing Technique and was a great help to Muzuki, who had just started learning Sealing Technique.
“Sandaime-sama showed me the files for the assigned disciples in advance, and two of them are your disciples, Kakashi Hatake and Uchiha Obito.” Speaking of this, Minato’s expression was a bit subtle.
“That means you have a strong connection with them.” Muzuki showed a slightly surprised smile.
“It’s also their good luck to have an instructor like you, Minato. I know your strength; among Konoha Jonin, the only ones who can be stronger than you are the Sannin.”
Muzuki glanced at Minato’s panel. After training on the battlefield for several months, Minato’s strength had improved significantly. His Chakra had reached 55,000, his proficiency in Flying Thunder God had also increased a lot, and the proficiency of other skills had also improved significantly. It could be said that his overall strength had increased by a notch.
Muzuki felt that the current Minato had already surpassed a bunch of Konoha Jonin and could be considered half of Konoha’s top-tier combat power.
“There are still some Jonin seniors whose strength is not below mine.” Minato, hearing Muzuki say he was only second to the Sannin, hurriedly waved his hand and said.
“Everyone has their own strengths. Muzuki, your Ninjutsu power is actually stronger than mine.”
“But if you can’t hit anyone, great power has no meaning. Minato, your Flying Thunder God is too fast.” Muzuki engaged in a round of mutual flattery.
“Usually, it’s three students per team, right? Who is the other person?” Out of caution, Muzuki asked.
Although in the original work, it was Rin Nohara, Obito, and Kakashi in a team, after all, he was here now. It wasn’t impossible that Hiruzen Sarutobi might see that Kakashi, Obito, and Might Guy played well together and arrange them into a team.
If Rin Nohara and Obito weren’t together, then Muzuki would have to expedite the development of Water Breathing. If the teammates weren’t reliable, then he would need to improve his own strength more.
“It’s a girl named Rin Nohara.” Minato handed the washed vegetables to Muzuki and answered.
This wasn’t information about any secret mission, so there was no need to hide it.
“That’s quite a coincidence. Actually, Rin Nohara is also my disciple.” Muzuki said with an expression of surprise.
Before, he hid it because his strength wasn’t strong, and on the surface, he still had the identity of Root, which wasn’t very convenient.
Now his public strength was that of a powerful Jonin who could defeat Explosion Release Hunter, and since the person he was talking to was Minato, there was no need to hide too much.
“Muzuki, don’t you have another disciple named Might Guy?” Minato asked with a puzzled expression.
“Previously, I conducted a special training session for the Fourth Grade of the Ninja Academy. During the special training, I discovered Rin Nohara’s potential, so I took her on as a disciple to nurture.” Muzuki explained.
Minato showed a look of sudden realization, and then felt a bit strange in his heart; in that case, all three of his disciples were Muzuki’s disciples.
“Muzuki, why don’t you just become an instructor? That way you could keep teaching them.” Minato asked.
He felt that with Muzuki’s strength, becoming an instructor would be better, more flexible, and could also train himself.
“I prefer teaching at the Ninja Academy, and after they graduate, I can also provide guidance through extracurricular time.” Muzuki smiled and answered.
With his current strength, teaching classes at the Ninja Academy yielded greater gains.
According to past mission rewards, there would also be rewards when the disciples executed missions with Minato, but without the extra bonuses, it would probably be about one-third less.
“Then Muzuki, when you have time later, come and guide me on how to teach students. You are stronger in this regard.” Minato said with a smile; Muzuki’s educational ability was personally praised by Hiruzen Sarutobi.
3.4k. Today it’s actually less than 7k. I’m furious. Tomorrow I’ll aim for 10k a day; I can’t be decadent anymore.
