Chapter Index

At noon, in the South Border Forest, Obito showed the developed photos to Rin Nohara.

“Rin, what do you think? These photos are pretty good, right?” Obito asked, his fingers restlessly rubbing his clothes and drawing circles on the ground, worried about Rin Nohara’s opinion.

Rin Nohara, who had been seriously looking at the photos, paused, smiled and nodded, then put her hands together and said:

“They’re very good. These wildflowers all look so beautiful, even though they grow alone in the wild, they can still be so lovely.”

“Hehe, I thought they looked good too, that’s why I took pictures of them,” Obito said with a relieved chuckle.

Seeing Rin Nohara’s happy smile, he instantly felt that his efforts hadn’t been wasted. It’s hard to capture beautiful scenery by luck alone; you have to put thought into finding it.

“If you like them, Rin, the next time I see beautiful flowers, I’ll pick a few for you to bring back. Muzuki-sensei should have a way to preserve them.”

Rin Nohara smiled and shook her head, saying softly, “Thank you for your kindness, Obito, but there’s no need to trouble yourself. We’ve already captured their beauty with the camera, there’s no need to bring them back.”

Rin Nohara felt that wildflowers already had a tough time in the dangerous wilderness, so there was no need to cause them further harm. It was better to let them grow naturally in nature. Different flowers also require different environments, so bringing them back might not even keep them alive.

“That’s true. Flowers wilt quickly, but if they’re photos, they can be preserved for a long time if properly kept,” Obito said, nodding.

“A camera is truly an amazing and convenient thing. I really don’t know what kind of brilliant minds those people possessed to invent something like this,” Obito exclaimed with emotion.

With his knowledge, he couldn’t fully comprehend how a camera worked. Why could it record an image just by pressing a button? It was as magical as Ninjutsu.

However, Obito didn’t care about that; not knowing the principle didn’t prevent him from using it.

“It is very magical, but a camera isn’t omnipotent. Hand-drawn pictures have a feeling that cameras can’t capture, and there are many things a camera can’t record, like dreams and such,” Rin Nohara said after some thought.

“Speaking of dreams, Rin, what’s your dream?” Obito asked curiously.

He thought carefully and realized he didn’t seem to have any related memories. Although all students had to introduce themselves when they first enrolled in first grade, dreams weren’t mandatory to mention.

“A dream, huh? My dream is to save more people injured by war, and ideally, to make war disappear,” Rin Nohara said, looking up at the sky and smiling.

“Is it strange for a girl to have such a dream? I’m not good at fighting, and I have a dream of making war disappear,” Rin Nohara turned to Obito, looking into his eyes and asking with a smile.

Whether it was Shisui, Kakashi, Obito, or Might Guy, they were all children from Ninja families, though some had lost their parents early. Rin Nohara was different from all of them; both of her parents were alive, but they were ordinary people, and there were no Ninja in her previous generation either.

Rin Nohara went to the Ninja Academy not because her parents sent her, but because she actively told her parents she wanted to become a Ninja.

It wasn’t because she envied Ninja who could earn large sums of money through missions, nor did she think Ninja with strong abilities could live better lives. It was because a good neighbor’s older sister, whom Rin Nohara was close to when she was very young, died in the war.

From then on, the cruelty of war was etched into Rin Nohara’s mind, and she developed this dream.

Therefore, Rin Nohara greatly admired Tsunade, one of the Sannin. Not only could she heal injured comrades with Medical Ninjutsu, but she could also play a significant role in combat.

“Not strange at all! I think it’s great!” Obito stood up, speaking excitedly.

“After going to the battlefield, I realized how cruel war is. Whether it’s comrades or enemies, it seems like someone dies every minute.”

“After understanding this, my dream isn’t just to become Hokage anymore. I not only want to become Hokage, but I also want to end the war, to make the cruel war stop and never happen again!” Obito said, clenching his fists in excitement.

Hearing that Rin Nohara also wanted to make war disappear, Obito was very happy. Having the same dream as the person he liked was simply wonderful.

Obito’s thoughts immediately drifted to future scenes of him and Rin Nohara working together to achieve their dream.

“If it’s you, Obito, plus Kakashi and the others, it might really come true,” Rin Nohara said, putting her hands behind her back, her eyes filled with longing.

Obito felt that the words “Kakashi” could be deleted.

“I hope the graduation exam comes soon. Rin and Tenten are always with Kakashi, they’re going to be influenced by him,” Obito muttered to himself.

Suddenly mentioning Kakashi really felt like it ruined the atmosphere. Obito wished they could graduate quickly and disband the internship team so Kakashi wouldn’t have so much time to appear in front of Rin Nohara.

However, what worried Obito was that if they graduated, he might not have many opportunities to see Rin Nohara either.

“Six Paths Sage bless me, Muzuki Sage bless me, Shima Sage bless me, Fukasaku Sage bless me… Please, please, put me and Rin in the same squad,” Obito prayed in his heart, reciting all the deities he knew.

Although Shima and Fukasaku didn’t seem particularly reliable, Obito felt that living for eight hundred years should mean they had some power.

“What are you mumbling about?” Kakashi, suddenly feeling something, looked at Obito suspiciously and asked.

He just had a feeling Obito was slandering him in his mind.

“Nothing, just thinking about things after graduation. According to the rules, the teams should be rearranged, so you’ll probably be in a different squad then, right, Kakashi?” Obito replied, coming back to his senses.

Kakashi thought for a moment and replied, “Barring any surprises, yes.”

Although carrying out missions with Muzuki always involved unexpected events, Kakashi felt quite comfortable. Thinking about going to a new team, he felt a bit reluctant.

But Kakashi knew in his heart that Muzuki couldn’t continue to be his squad leader because Muzuki didn’t lead Genin at all; he was a Ninja Academy teacher.

Hearing Kakashi’s words, Obito’s lips uncontrollably curved upwards. If Kakashi left and Rin remained in his team, life would be incredibly comfortable.

“Even if I’m not in this squad anymore, I’m still your teacher. If you have time, remember to come to me for training,” Muzuki said with a smile as he walked over.

He planned to grind more skills in the second academic year, but he would definitely still have time to teach his disciples. As long as he was willing to squeeze it in, he could always find some time.

“Yes, yes, even after graduation, if I have time, I’ll definitely come to you often, Muzuki-sensei,” Obito quickly nodded and said.

Having spent almost a year with Muzuki, he had unconsciously grown accustomed to life with Muzuki. Obito even thought that if his guiding teacher wasn’t strong enough, he could just continue training with Muzuki as he used to.

“Me too! With Muzuki-sensei’s guidance, the flame of youth will burn even brighter!” Might Guy said as he ran backward, passing by.

“After graduation, I also want to come to you with questions, Muzuki-sensei. I hope you won’t find it troublesome,” Rin Nohara said softly with a smile.

“If I have time, I’ll come,” Kakashi promised.

Shisui quietly watched all of this. Graduation was still far off for him as a first-year student. When Obito and the others graduated, he would only advance to second year.

“Everyone’s enthusiasm is high, so let’s begin training,” Muzuki announced with a smile, signaling the start of the afternoon training.

“Obito and Shisui, complete your special training first before practicing,” Muzuki called out to the two who were about to begin Constant State training.

“I’ve seen your growth these past days. From not being able to dodge even once at the beginning to being able to dodge more than five times, I’m very pleased with your progress,” Muzuki praised with a wide smile.

“With a good teacher like you, Muzuki-sensei, it’s normal to progress quickly,” Obito replied happily, returning the compliment.

“Thanks to your meticulous guidance, Muzuki-sensei,” Shisui nodded in agreement.

Muzuki truly took care of them both physically and mentally.

“Very well then. To make the special training more effective, I will slightly increase the speed of the Shadow Clone. You must use the Breathing Technique more intensely to strengthen your bodies and dodge attacks,” Muzuki announced the change in the special training.

“Slightly increased? How much faster will that be, specifically?” Obito felt a premonition of dread. He had just about finished solving the problems recently. He wouldn’t have to accrue more debt, would he?

“You’ll know when you train,” Muzuki replied with a gentle smile.

After telling the two to get ready, Muzuki created a Shadow Clone and shouted, “Start!”

Obito immediately concentrated his Breathing Technique to its most focused state and continued to run. When he was caught and couldn’t escape, Obito tried his best to dodge, but found he just barely missed dodging.

“Why is it always just by a little bit again?” Obito began to question his life.

If he missed by too much, he wouldn’t feel anything, but if it was just by a little, he was truly unwilling. That was two problems, a full two problems!

“Is it because I was a little off during my cultivation, so I’m always a little off during training?” Obito felt he needed to cultivate even harder.

After that, even though Obito tried his best to dodge and used his Sharingan to its fullest, he still just barely missed successfully dodging.

“Obito was hit fifteen times, dodged zero times, for a total of thirty-three problems. Shisui’s hits and dodges were the same as Obito’s, also thirty-three problems,” Muzuki announced the results.

“Damn it! It was just by a little bit!” Obito cried out in frustration. If he had successfully dodged just once, he would have five fewer problems! The two problems for dodging itself, plus an additional ten percent.

“I must make a breakthrough,” Shisui also felt the pressure. Muzuki’s problems were not easy to solve.

“Obito, if you want to become Hokage, your theoretical knowledge can’t be too bad,” Rin Nohara said, encouraging him.

“The number of problems doesn’t matter; I just want to perform better in training,” Obito quickly changed his expression and explained.

He had just said he wanted to become Hokage not long ago; he couldn’t give up on the problems.

“Muzuki-sensei, I suggest doubling Obito’s problems to save his theoretical knowledge,” Kakashi suggested.

“Oh, in that case…” Muzuki showed a thoughtful expression.

“Muzuki-sensei, I think the problems should still follow the rules and not be changed arbitrarily,” Obito said, seeing that Muzuki seemed to be seriously considering it, and instantly panicked.

    Slap!

Muzuki’s finger landed precisely on Obito’s forehead, and he said with a smile, “Then finish all the problems seriously.”

“Definitely,” Obito instantly breathed a sigh of relief, already thinking about how to confront Kakashi after training.
