Chapter Index

Happy times are always short-lived; this thought appeared in Obito’s mind on the first morning after his birthday.

“Considering it was your birthday yesterday, I didn’t bring out the training problems, but today we’ll start doing them,” Muzuki said with a smile, handing two test papers to Obito.

Yesterday, he had only made Obito and Shisui train, and he hadn’t given them the test papers afterward.

“Actually, I made a mistake when I registered my birthday; today is my actual birthday,” Obito said, feeling dizzy at the sight of the pristine test papers and clear black problems, not knowing what he was saying.

    Smack!

Muzuki’s finger accurately tapped Obito’s forehead, saying,

“Even if every one of the next three hundred and sixty-five days is your birthday, you still have to do these problems. You have to go back to school for an exam in ten days, and you don’t want to go back to getting scores in the teens, do you?”

“Ugh, we don’t even have classes this semester, so why do we still have exams?” Obito couldn’t help but complain.

When Muzuki said that, he remembered that interns had to return to school for exams as usual.

“Perhaps it’s to test your internship results,” Muzuki replied with a smile.

“When the school announces the exam results, they will also announce the internship results of all interns, writing down the number of missions you completed in the score column.”

“Then Might Guy and I will definitely be first!” Obito couldn’t help but reveal a proud smile.

According to the Registration Ninja at the mission hall, other intern teams could only accept D-Rank missions, and D-Rank missions could never have unexpected situations that would lead to a mission upgrade, so others wouldn’t even have C-Rank Missions.

But he and Might Guy had a record of two A-Rank Missions and one B-Rank Mission. Compared to that, they were directly several versions ahead of their peers.

“There’s no problem getting first in mission quality, but mission quality won’t add points to theory scores,” Muzuki nodded and said. Obito’s resume would definitely be crushing among the interns.

Hearing the words ‘theory,’ Obito scratched his head in frustration. If others saw his mission results and found that his theory score was only in the teens or twenties, it would indeed look bad.

“You have three days to complete these problems. After you’re done, come to me for explanations,” Muzuki set the time limit for doing the problems.

After speaking with Obito, Muzuki then handed Shisui’s problems to Shisui.

He had prepared different problems for the two of them. Obito’s problems were mainly related to the knowledge learned at the Ninja Academy, while Shisui’s were history and politics.

And not just historical questions like ‘What happened in which year?’, but rather questions like ‘After reading the following materials, explain the changes in the Ninja World with the advent of the Ninja Village era and their reasons,’ or ‘Combine the history within the Uchiha Clan and the history of Konoha to describe the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha.’

It wasn’t realistic for him, an outsider, to solve the conflict between Konoha and the Uchiha on his own; it required the cooperation of the Uchiha Clan itself.

The best candidates were naturally his two disciples, Obito and Shisui. Muzuki not only wanted to make them stronger than they were in the original work but also to teach them more knowledge and broaden their thinking.

Muzuki’s fundamental purpose in making them do problems was not to improve their theory exam scores, nor was it for punishment, but to improve their knowledge level and enhance their thinking ability.

Shisui initially didn’t pay too much attention to it; it was just two test papers. He thought he could just go back and have a Shadow Clone spend some time doing them, until he inadvertently saw a problem on it.

Looking at that profound problem, Shisui looked serious and glanced at all the problems on both test papers. He felt that every problem could provoke deep thought and was very difficult to answer.

Looking at the two test papers, Shisui’s expression turned serious. He felt that he had misunderstood Obito and the others. No wonder Obito and Might Guy had always been afraid of problem-solving training. If they were given a hundred such problems at once, he wouldn’t be able to handle it either.

Muzuki gave Shisui the same amount of time: three days to complete the problems and then come to him for explanations.

If he felt he couldn’t finish, he could apply for installment problem-solving, which would extend the time, but the number of problems would have to increase a bit.

The two put away the problems and then began their Constant State Breathing Technique training, maintaining the Total Concentration Breathing state during various basic exercises.

Even with sweat pouring down his head, his clothes soaked, and his eyes blurred by the sweat, Obito persisted until he could no longer stand.

“Tomorrow there’s another problem-solving training. This time, I have to skip it at least once and get fewer problems, or I’ll have to do installments again.” This was precisely the source of Obito’s motivation for working so hard.

Fifty-five problems, he could grit his teeth and finish them in three days, but if another fifty-five came tomorrow, that would be different.

Moreover, an experienced Obito knew very well that once problems started to be done in installments, they would only accumulate more and more. If Muzuki didn’t stop the problem-solving training, he would never finish.

“This Guy, is he working so hard just so I don’t catch up to him?” Kakashi showed a surprised expression when he saw Obito working so hard during his break.

Seeing Obito’s dedication, Kakashi couldn’t sit still. Even though he hadn’t rested well, he began practicing Thunder Breathing.

“Tonight, I’ll add another two and a half hours to my training time!” Kakashi secretly made up his mind.

No one at Muzuki’s place would choose to be lazy. Everyone trained very seriously, so Kakashi, who wanted to overtake them, decided to add extra training time.

“Everyone’s youth is so passionate today,” Might Guy said, seeing his companions training with such enthusiasm, and he trained even harder.

“Gate of Opening, open! Gate of Healing, open!”

In his excitement, Might Guy suddenly realized that he had finally completed the training for the second gate, successfully opening the Eight Gates’ second gate under normal circumstances, instead of relying on the Breathing Technique to forcefully open it by’stepping on his right foot with his left foot.’

    “Rock Breathing, Total Concentration Breathing!”

Might Guy immediately adjusted his breathing to a highly concentrated state, continuously enhancing his physical strength.

“This is the power,” Might Guy clenched his fist, his face showing excitement. After the mission, he wanted to refine Noon Leopard, but found that without opening the second gate, his strength was still a bit lacking.

    “Noon Leopard!”

Might Guy sprinted at extreme speed. The large amount of Chakra generated by the Eight Gates burst forth to enhance his physical abilities. His speed became faster and faster. When his speed reached its peak, Might Guy kicked a huge rock with a sudden thrust, like a leopard pouncing on its prey.

    Boom!!

With a loud bang, the huge rock was directly shattered by this powerful kick, stone dust filled the air, and small fragments shot in all directions.

After the kick, Might Guy immediately felt incredibly exhilarated.

The commotion from Might Guy’s side drew everyone’s attention.

“He can already use that move normally?” Kakashi felt that Might Guy had become much stronger.

Before, he had to forcefully damage his body to unleash such power, but now he could do it in his normal state.

“Such fast speed, such strong power!” The strength Might Guy displayed surprised Shisui a little.

It was his first time seeing Might Guy use both Total Concentration Breathing and the Eight Gates’ second gate simultaneously, and he felt he was very strong.

“Isn’t that the move he used in the last battle? If you get kicked by that, you’d be severely injured if not dead,” Obito said, seeing the power Might Guy displayed, and then thinking of Might Guy saying he wanted to fight him, his eyelid involuntarily twitched.

After a day of training, Obito dragged his tired body home. On the way, he saw the Tuanzi Shop where he had eaten with Rin Nohara before, and thought of buying some Tuanzi to eat and replenish his energy.

“Obito, what’s wrong? You look so tired,” a somewhat familiar voice reached Obito’s ears.

Obito looked back to see a person with a senbon in his mouth greeting him, with another person wearing sunglasses sitting beside him.

“Nothing, just a bit tired from training,” Obito bought three skewers of Tuanzi and sat down at Shiranui Genma’s table with his plate.

Although they were from different classes, they were in the same grade and knew each other somewhat. After that summer special training, they became even more familiar.

“Who’s your intern teacher? Is the training that intense?” Shiranui Genma asked curiously.

“It’s Teacher Muzuki. It’s not that his training is intense; it’s just me practicing. If I want to get stronger, I can’t avoid training,” Obito explained, stuffing a skewer of Tuanzi into his mouth.

“Wow, your intern teacher is actually Teacher Muzuki! You’re so lucky!” Shiranui Genma showed an envious expression.

Anyone taught by Muzuki knew the difference between him and ordinary teachers; they weren’t on the same level and couldn’t even be compared.

“After training with Teacher Muzuki for so long, your strength must have increased a lot. Your first place in practical combat is definitely secure now, and Might Guy probably can’t beat you,” Shiranui Genma said with a smile, believing that Obito could pop the champagne early.

“Uh, Might Guy is in my class, and he’s also interning with Teacher Muzuki,” Obito said after a brief silence.

He really wasn’t sure if he could beat Might Guy, because Muzuki didn’t let him casually activate his Sharingan. If he couldn’t use his Sharingan then, and Might Guy could use the Eight Gates plus the Breathing Technique, he would undoubtedly lose.

“Oh, oh, so Might Guy is interning with you,” Shiranui Genma gave a somewhat awkward smile.

“Then that’ll be another fierce battle. I’m really looking forward to your fight.”

“It’s alright. How do you Guys feel about your internship?” Obito ate another skewer of Tuanzi, then asked.

“It’s just like that, I guess. It feels like class time just turned into doing odd jobs,” Shiranui Genma complained.

“Yeah, I thought we’d get to take on some missions, but it’s just catching cats, finding dogs, picking up trash, or doing farm work. It’s not even as good as sitting in the classroom and taking classes,” Ebisu also complained.

Clearly, they were not very satisfied with their internship life.

Obito couldn’t help but straighten his back and slightly raise his head, saying,

“I think it’s alright. It’s not as boring as you Guys say.”

Compared to the two of them, Obito instantly felt his internship life was incredibly exciting. With Muzuki, he had encountered the Raikage Candidate, and with his companions, he had jointly defeated an enemy village Jonin.

“No wonder your strength improved so quickly, Obito. Not only do you train more seriously than us, but you also have more of a Ninja demeanor when facing missions,” Shiranui Genma sighed.

To be honest, he didn’t want to do odd jobs. His thoughts were the same as Ebisu’s; he’d rather take theory classes.

“Hehe, it’s just okay, not as amazing as you say,” Obito couldn’t help but chuckle when he heard Shiranui Genma say he had a Ninja demeanor.

Actually, he was looking forward to Shiranui Genma and Ebisu asking him mission-related questions so he could tell them about doing two A-Rank Missions, but they didn’t ask until he finished eating the Tuanzi, which left him a little regretful inside.
