Chapter 274: A short separation is more conducive to gold coins
by Sunflower“Grandma, I’m home!” Obito called out impatiently as he stepped into the yard.
“Welcome home,” Grandma said, walking to the door with a kind smile.
“You must be hungry, I’ll go make you something to eat.” It was just noon, and Grandma thought Obito probably hadn’t eaten yet, so she turned to the kitchen to prepare lunch for Obito.
Obito nodded with a chuckle, then sat down in the living room.
When Obito sat down in the living room chair, his body and mind completely relaxed, and he even felt a hint of sleepiness.
“I didn’t feel tired before, but why do I feel tired after sitting down to rest?” Obito scratched his head, a bit confused.
Confusion aside, sitting in the chair at home was very comfortable, and he could sit as comfortably as he wished.
“Obito, Uchiha Yashiro came looking for you yesterday and brought a lot of things. He said if you finish your mission and still have time, you should attend the clan’s Young Ninja Exchange Meeting,” Grandma said while cooking, remembering what happened yesterday.
“Young Ninja Exchange Meeting? What’s that? Is it just for chatting?” Obito asked, not quite understanding.
“Something like that, I suppose. It seems there will also be sparring matches, and there are rewards for winning. Your father used to participate as well,” Grandma recalled.
“Then what reward did my father get?” Obito looked curiously towards the kitchen. He rarely heard Grandma talk about his father.
“I don’t remember that, but your father was very happy at the time and told me a lot about how strong the seniors were and how hard he worked to defeat an opponent and so on,” Grandma paused her movements before answering.
As she recalled the past, she realized that she was truly old, having forgotten so much about her own child’s affairs.
“It’s in two days, Obito. If you don’t want to go, then don’t. They won’t know when you finish your mission anyway,” Grandma said while cooking.
She knew that Obito had never really gotten along with other clan members since he was young.
“Why wouldn’t I go if there are rewards? It’s not like there’s a registration fee,” Obito chuckled in response.
He wasn’t interested in socializing with clan members, but if there were rewards, he could go and see what it was all about.
“Come on, eat up. You need to be full to have the strength to fight,” Grandma said with a laugh, placing the prepared dishes on the dining table.
Obito nodded quickly, ready to dig in.
“Obito, how are things going with Rin? Have you let Rin know how you feel?” Grandma asked with a smile.
“Cough, cough.” Obito choked on his food and coughed twice.
Grandma immediately went to Obito’s side and gently patted his back to help him catch his breath.
“What feelings? Grandma, you know we’re only nine years old,” Obito replied, his face flushed.
Grandma smiled without a word. She could see through Obito’s little thoughts at a glance.
“Grandma, you should eat too. It won’t taste good when it gets cold,” Obito quickly said to prevent Grandma from saying anything else that would make him blush.
After eating, Obito shared some of the sights and sounds of the Land of Hot Springs that he had heard from the client with Grandma, and then he went to the South Border Forest to train.
As he was about to arrive, Obito encountered someone he didn’t particularly want to see.
“Not sleeping at home?” Kakashi asked indifferently.
He felt a bit regretful, thinking that if Obito hadn’t come today, he would have worked harder than Obito for another day and received more guidance from Muzuki.
“What sleeping? It’s broad daylight, why would I be sleeping? Of course, I’m here to train with Minato-sensei,” Obito said directly, now that he had reached the South Border Forest.
Obito was glad he hadn’t rested because of a little fatigue; otherwise, he wouldn’t have known that Kakashi was secretly working hard for a whole day.
The two exchanged glances and walked together into the South Border Forest. At this time, Muzuki was developing his Water Breathing, and Shisui was practicing Constant State.
“Why are you two coming at this time? Didn’t Minato take you out for training or a mission today?” Muzuki asked when he saw them approaching.
Muzuki was pretending; he knew Obito and Kakashi had gone out on a mission with Minato because he had seen the reward for completing the mission.
【Disciple Kakashi, Uchiha Obito worked hard to complete the entrusted mission, gaining a growth reward of 700 Chakra.】
Looking at this reward, Muzuki knew that Obito and the others had most likely encountered an unexpected situation during their mission. With only two disciples and no team bonus from him, 700 Chakra was already a considerable amount.
“Is it not my problem, but rather that Obito and Kakashi’s luck is truly bad?” Muzuki thought to himself.
He had previously thought that it was his deliberate selection of missions that led to so many accidents, but he didn’t expect that even without his selection, Obito and Kakashi still consistently encountered issues.
“We just got back from a mission. Minato-sensei gave us four days off,” Obito explained.
“This mission was really dangerous. Kakashi’s mouth is like a Ninjutsu effect; as soon as he says nothing unexpected will happen, something unexpected always does!” Obito couldn’t wait to tell Muzuki about their mission experience.
“It was just a coincidence!” Kakashi emphasized.
“Didn’t you hear the Registration Ninja’s warning? Kumogakure Ninja were spotted in the Land of Hot Springs; we just happened to run into them.”
“All I know is that it’s been five consecutive accidents,” Obito stated, implying that actions speak louder than words.
When Obito mentioned that number, Kakashi was speechless. Five consecutive accidents, two of which involved encountering a Raikage candidate, truly seemed a bit sinister.
Obito continued to share his mission experience with Muzuki, saying, “Muzuki-sensei, you’ll never guess who we ran into this time! It’s a good thing Minato-sensei’s Flying Thunder God is powerful enough, otherwise, you might not have seen us again.”
Obito truly felt this mission was very dangerous. Last time, he hadn’t seen Muzuki and Fourth Raikage Ay’s battle, so he didn’t know Fourth Raikage Ay’s exact strength. This time, although Minato was holding the front, the distance wasn’t very far, allowing him to see the details of Fourth Raikage Ay and Minato’s battle.
“Was it that Raikage candidate again?” Muzuki thought for a moment. It was Kumogakure again, and a powerful one. The first ones he thought of were Fourth Raikage Ay and Killer Bee.
After all, the Third Raikage wasn’t that easy to encounter; he would usually only appear on very important battlefields.
“Muzuki-sensei, you’re too amazing! You could guess that too,” Obito looked at Muzuki in surprise, not expecting Muzuki to guess so easily.
Muzuki chuckled in response, “Maybe I’m just lucky.”
“Alright, let’s chat after training. Let’s train first,” Muzuki continued. Obito and the others coming to the South Border Forest at this time surely meant they were planning to train. They could always chat at his house in the evening.
“Kakashi, start your Breathing Technique Constant State training. As long as you have stamina, maintain a state of complete concentration.”
“Obito, learn a new Fire Release with me first. After you learn the Fire Release Ninjutsu, then you can do Breathing Technique training.”
Kakashi’s most urgent task was to solve his reaction problem. The Thunder Breathing Constant State realm was more important than any other ability for Kakashi right now.
Reaction training has its limits; it cannot fundamentally solve the problem. As long as the reaction problem remains unresolved, Kakashi’s Thunder Breathing will be restricted. Fully unleashing speed would be a gamble, betting that the opponent couldn’t react to such speed.
As for Obito, Muzuki felt that Obito still lacked a powerful, wide-range Fire Release.
To prevent the flames from setting the forest on fire, Muzuki took Obito to the riverside for training.
“Muzuki-sensei, what Fire Release are you going to teach me? Is it that Fire Release that looks like a sea of fire?” Obito asked excitedly. He still remembered the impression Muzuki made during his first C-Rank Mission.
“No, but in terms of power, this Ninjutsu is not inferior to that one,” Muzuki shook his head.
He was going to teach Obito the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet, which was from a Ninjutsu scroll Danzo had given him.
Muzuki first explained the release principle and key points, then demonstrated it.
“Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!”
Muzuki quickly formed hand signs, then condensed Chakra and exhaled a large amount of violent flames from his mouth.
The flames of the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet are different from ordinary Fire Release. Due to their fierce power, they can attack from many directions simultaneously.
Of course, Ninjutsu does not become powerful for no reason. Precisely because of this characteristic, the flames of the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet are extremely difficult to control. If used improperly, let alone attacking the enemy from multiple directions, it would be good enough not to burn oneself.
Under Muzuki’s control, the incredibly fierce flames split into three streams, rushing towards the river, evaporating large amounts of river water and constantly producing rising white mist.
Because too much water was instantly evaporated, in Obito’s eyes, the river surface became extremely uneven for a moment.
“This Ninjutsu is very powerful, but it also consumes a lot of Chakra. Don’t use it like the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique,” Muzuki reminded him.
“Yes, yes, I know,” Obito’s eyes lit up when he saw how fierce the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet’s flames were, and he nodded rapidly like a pecking chick, replying.
After demonstrating once, Muzuki carefully broke down and explained the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet in detail, demonstrating each part.
He would teach different people differently. If it were Shisui, he wouldn’t explain it in too much detail because it would be a waste of time; Shisui could infer many things from a single explanation.
【You taught your disciple Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet. Due to the disciple’s gratitude, the reward critically hit, and you obtained Ninjutsu Water Release: Water Prison Technique (Proficient Level).】
Perhaps it had been a while since they last met; although Muzuki didn’t deliberately try to evoke emotions, Obito still had a small outburst.
The Water Prison Technique is indeed a good Ninjutsu. It can be used to trap enemies and sometimes to protect oneself and block attacks.
When the training ended, Muzuki invited all three disciples to his home for dinner.
“Yay! I get to eat Muzuki-sensei’s cooking again!” Obito readily agreed.
Shisui and Kakashi were also happy to go and immediately agreed.
In the evening, while Muzuki was cooking, Minato and Might Guy also came to his house.
