Chapter Index

“Elder Sheng Qing, do you have anything to say?” Obito asked.

The Uchiha Ninja all looked towards Uchiha Sheng Qing.

Many of them were waiting for Uchiha Sheng Qing to refute.

They were unwilling to believe that this highly respected Uchiha Elder would betray the Uchiha, and betray Konoha.

Uchiha Sheng Qing glanced at the secret scroll, closed his eyes, neither refuting nor admitting guilt.

“Elder Sheng Qing, speak up! How could you do such a thing!” an Uchiha Ninja said in disbelief.

“Uchiha Sheng Qing, you deserve to die a thousand deaths!” another Uchiha Ninja exclaimed angrily.

The Uchiha’s true hatred was never Konoha itself, but the Konoha higher-ups who targeted them.

So even the Uchiha Ninja who wanted to stage a coup detested Ninja who betrayed Konoha.

Uchiha Sheng Qing’s actions not only betrayed Konoha but also the Uchiha Clan, which infuriated them.

Some Uchiha, blinded by rage, even wanted to rush forward and attack, but were stopped by the Anbu.

“Take them away,” Obito waved his hand, ordering the Anbu to escort the stubborn hardliners, led by Uchiha Sheng Qing, back to the Anbu headquarters.

For a moment, the atmosphere at Nanga Shrine became somewhat eerie.

    Many Uchiha Ninja looked bewildered.

They didn’t know what to do next or what they should do.

    A coup?

That was definitely out of the question. The Clan Head was leading the opposition, and the Anbu was also aware of the coup attempt.

Most importantly, the coup was a Hidden Cloud Village conspiracy. How could the dignified Uchiha be led by the nose by the Hidden Cloud Village?

If not a coup, then how could they avoid being targeted, improve the Uchiha’s standing, and have an Uchiha Hokage?

All the Uchiha looked at the black-haired young man standing in front of everyone.

The twenty-one-year-old Anbu Commander, a Konoha hero during the war, and the Fourth Hokage’s disciple.

With such a resume, the position of Hokage didn’t seem so far away.

Obito met the gazes of the Uchiha without any hint of guilt, and spoke earnestly:

“I understand everyone’s desire to revive the clan, but you cannot act impulsively. Impulsiveness makes it easy to be exploited by others.”

“Even if a coup truly succeeded, the Uchiha would only gain a Konoha ravaged by war and constant conflict.

Didn’t our ancestors cooperate with the Senju Clan to establish Konoha precisely to achieve peaceful lives? To stage a coup, even if it means returning to a period of war, wouldn’t that be incinerating the efforts of our clan’s ancestors?”

Obito’s words caused the Uchiha Ninja present to fall into deep thought.

The Uchiha Clan’s Ninja were not just battle maniacs who only knew how to fight.

If they truly loved to fight, Uchiha Madara wouldn’t have been left with not a single follower when he left.

Compared to war, the Uchiha Clan actually preferred a peaceful and tranquil life.

After experiencing the peaceful life of Konoha, no one was willing to return to the constant wars of the past.

The main reason why the idea of a coup was so prevalent within the clan was because they were truly being targeted.

Due to suspicions of controlling the Nine-Tailed, Danzo Shimura openly proposed various measures targeting the Uchiha, leading to the rapid expansion of the Uchiha’s hawkish faction and increasingly sharp conflicts with Konoha.

“If only you had returned sooner, Obito,” a middle-aged Uchiha Jonin sighed.

Another major reason they chose to stage a coup was that they truly saw no hope for an Uchiha Hokage.

It was truly too difficult for an Uchiha Ninja to become Hokage.

“The past is in the past. Aren’t I here now?” Obito said with a faint smile.

“Does anyone still support the original coup plan?” Obito asked, looking around.

The entire Nanga Shrine instantly fell silent.

With the leader of the hawkish faction betraying them and the emergence of a Hokage candidate within the family, these two major events occurring consecutively meant that even the more radical Uchiha now leaned towards Obito’s plan.

What was a coup? The Uchiha possessed the ability to rightfully claim the position of Hokage.

Uchiha Itachi looked at Obito with admiration.

Obito hadn’t revealed his entire plan; Uchiha Itachi and the others only knew what they needed to do, not the full scope of the plan. Therefore, Uchiha Itachi wasn’t aware that Obito had so many backup plans.

Uchiha Itachi didn’t even know when Obito became the Anbu Commander.

He had never seen Obito in the Anbu.

However, regardless of the process, Obito had resolved a deadlock that Uchiha Itachi thought was unresolvable, which greatly impressed Uchiha Itachi.

“If it’s him, he might truly be able to become Hokage,” Uchiha Itachi thought to himself.

In his heart, the Fifth Hokage belonged to Obito.

After all, Obito had solved a problem that even Hiruzen Sarutobi couldn’t resolve.

    “Then, dismissed,” Obito announced.

This should have been announced by Uchiha Fugaku, the Clan Head, but now Obito was the Uchiha’s hope for Hokage, and none of the Uchiha Ninja had any objections, rising and leaving the premises.

After everyone had left, Obito looked at Uchiha Fugaku and said:

“Uncle Fugaku, please spend more effort on the clan recently, and control the direction.”

He had only swiftly prevented the coup, but the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha still existed and required other measures to ease the tension.

“I will,” Uchiha Fugaku readily agreed to the command from his junior, Obito.

If at first he was only coerced by Obito’s overwhelming strength, now he was genuinely working for Obito.

Because Uchiha Fugaku saw hope in Obito.

A hope that could succeed without gambling the fate of the clan.

After leaving Nanga Shrine, Uchiha Itachi did not go home with Uchiha Fugaku but followed behind Obito.

“Thank you. You saved the Uchiha,” Uchiha Itachi thanked Obito solemnly.

Although he didn’t think much of most of his clansmen, he wouldn’t go so far as to want to slaughter them. It was best if no killing was necessary.

Furthermore, if the clan didn’t have to be annihilated, Sasuke wouldn’t be left alone.

“Saved the Uchiha? Not yet,” Obito shook his head.

Currently, he could only say he prevented the coup. As for the Uchiha Clan’s crisis, it hadn’t truly disappeared.

At the very least, Danzo Shimura had to be eliminated, and the general environment in Konoha that targeted the Uchiha had to be changed before it could be called a salvation.

“Is there anything else I can do next?” Uchiha Itachi volunteered to ask.

“Don’t worry, I’ll let you know when I need you to do something,” Obito patted Uchiha Itachi’s shoulder and said.

“You kid, just learn more from me now. Don’t be too self-centered, and don’t go to extremes.”

Obito’s significant success today, in addition to the groundwork laid before, was also greatly aided by Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Itachi, who stood behind him.

Uchiha Fugaku, as the Clan Head, naturally had immense prestige within the Uchiha Clan.

    Uchiha Itachi’s effect was similar.

When Uchiha Itachi, a well-known Uchiha traitor, stood behind Obito like a subordinate, how could the Uchiha Ninja not look up to Obito?

No matter what Uchiha Itachi was, they couldn’t ignore Uchiha Itachi’s talent and strength.

    “Understood,” Uchiha Itachi nodded.

From today on, Obito was his new role model.

After chatting, the two parted ways, and Obito returned to Kakashi’s home.

“We’ve finally gotten through the most critical period,” Obito complained as soon as he entered the door, slumping into a chair.

These past few days had been exhausting.

He had to prevent the Uchiha from being annihilated, and also consider the Uchiha’s future and various influences.

Obito felt this was more troublesome than fighting the Fourth Shinobi World War in a parallel world.

Fighting the Fourth Shinobi World War only required constantly defeating bosses, but preventing the Uchiha’s annihilation required thinking about many things.

“I thought you’d be very proud, having personally stopped such a big thing,” Kakashi said.

He hadn’t known about the Uchiha coup initially, but after Obito assigned him to the capture squad, he realized Konoha was on the brink of civil war.

“Proud is proud, but it’s tiring,” Obito exhaled a long breath.

There was certainly a sense of accomplishment, but he was also genuinely tired.

“Kakashi, you’re so thoughtless. Do you know I’ve said so much, and you didn’t think I’d be thirsty? Go quickly and pour me a glass of water. Do you expect the cup to miraculously generate water on its own?” Obito felt a bit parched and sat up straight.

Kakashi rolled his eyes, thinking that anyone who didn’t know better would think he was the one staying at Obito’s house.

“As the Anbu Commander, my authority is Limitless!” Obito said self-righteously.

“I really don’t know what the Sandaime was thinking,” Kakashi reluctantly poured a glass of water and placed it in front of Obito.

Obito picked up the glass and drank it all in one gulp, a joyful smile on his face.

This parallel world was quite interesting. In his original world, he couldn’t order Kakashi around like this.

“Don’t call me unless it’s important. I’m going back to training,” Kakashi refilled Obito’s glass and walked towards the yard.

“Still training even at this late hour?” Obito asked.

Kakashi paused, recalling Obito’s spirited appearance as he suppressed Susanoo alone.

“Of course, I’m an Anbu elite,” With that, Kakashi walked into the yard without looking back.

Obito was too strong. Whether it was his strength or his ability to handle things, Kakashi couldn’t compare.

Kakashi was happy that his best friend was excellent, but being so far surpassed, Kakashi couldn’t accept it.

He couldn’t accept an excellent Obito, but he couldn’t accept himself being so far behind.

“Has he become this foolish, unable to even recognize a fake?” Masked Obito, hidden in the shadows, looked extremely displeased.

Obito’s disguise was too good; White Zetsu hadn’t discovered any sufficiently important information.

To get results faster, Masked Obito finally infiltrated Konoha himself.

As soon as he arrived at Kakashi’s house, he saw a scene that made him incredibly tense.

The fake was using his name and his face, enjoying Kakashi’s service, and then Kakashi was acting like they were best friends.

Masked Obito instantly felt that the eye he had given Kakashi was wasted. What good was that Sharingan if it couldn’t even distinguish between the real and Fake Obito?

“I want to see who you truly are, fellow,” Masked Obito concealed his presence and used Kamui to pass through the wall, reaching out to grab Obito.

No matter who the opponent was, as long as they were pulled into the Kamui Dimension, Masked Obito would be in an invincible position.

Even if Masked Obito did nothing, the enemy in the Kamui Dimension would eventually starve to death.

“Are you a rat in a sewer, only capable of sneak attacks and petty tricks?” Obito turned his head and mocked.

Masked Obito thought he was well-hidden, but he had actually been detected by Obito’s Kenbunshoku Haki long ago.

    Obito just hadn’t revealed it.

“Heh heh, what right do you have to say that when you don’t dare to show your true face?” Masked Obito’s expression remained unchanged as he retorted sarcastically.

“Don’t dare to show my true face, huh?” Obito seemed to have heard something amusing and showed a brilliant smile.

In this parallel world, he had told many lies and fooled many people, but when he acted as Uchiha Obito, he had never disguised his appearance.

On the contrary, Masked Obito had never taken off the mask on his face.

“If you have the guts, follow me,” Obito flashed out of the window and into the yard.

He didn’t want to fight in Kakashi’s house; it wouldn’t be good if anything got damaged.

“Bluffing,” Masked Obito chased after him without hesitation.

He had already carefully observed the surroundings. “Fake Uchiha Madara” was not nearby, which meant there was only “Fake Obito” here.

With Kamui, he was inherently invincible. Even if “Fake Obito” was stronger, he could always retreat without a problem.

Obito didn’t run too far, stopping in a small nearby forest.

    Whoosh, whoosh!

Masked Obito concentrated Chakra in his Mangekyo Sharingan, and space twisted. A large number of black rods shot out from it.

“Child’s play,” Obito stood still with his arms crossed, letting the black rods stab at him.

Under the effect of Limitless, all the black rods stopped three centimeters in front of Obito’s body, then fell powerlessly to the ground.

“That so-called body-protecting Sage Art, huh?” Masked Obito wasn’t too surprised. This ability of Obito was recorded in Konoha’s archives, so he naturally knew about it.

Masked Obito didn’t use Ninjutsu again but reached out to grab Obito.

According to intelligence, this body-protecting Sage Art could even block Susanoo’s attacks, making it the ultimate defense.

However, Masked Obito wasn’t worried. No matter how strong the defense, could it block Kamui? His Kamui was a space-time ability.

“Rasengan!” Facing the aggressive Masked Obito, Obito extended his right hand, condensing Chakra in his palm to create a basketball-sized Chakra orb.

    “Rasengan!” Masked Obito showed surprise.

He had an incredibly deep impression of this Ninjutsu.

The last time Minato Namikaze’s Flying Thunder God Level Two combined with Rasengan almost sent him to his death. Thankfully, half of his body was White Zetsu, giving him tenacious vitality.

“But, it makes no difference,” Masked Obito quickly regained his composure.

Not everyone’s Rasengan could hit him.

Minato Namikaze’s Rasengan could hit him because Minato Namikaze discovered Kamui’s weakness, and combined with extreme speed, he achieved the miracle of breaking Kamui.

Looking at the dazzling blue Chakra orb smashing towards him, Masked Obito met it without fear.
