Chapter Index

When Muzuki brought the news of the rewards, the disciples had various expressions.

At this time, the disciples had recovered somewhat under Muzuki’s full treatment, and even Might Guy, who was the most seriously injured, could get out of bed and move around; they were currently taking a walk together to aid digestion.

“This means I’m going to become a Jonin!” Obito couldn’t help but jump up excitedly.

Aside from the Hokage, Jonin was already Konoha’s highest Ninja rank; in a sense, he was only one step away from being Hokage.

It should be known that the teachers at the Ninja Academy were only Chunin, so if he became a Jonin, it would mean Obito’s achievements as a Ninja had already surpassed theirs.

Obito imagined the shocked expressions of those Ninja Academy teachers who had previously looked down on him after he became a Jonin; their jaws would surely drop in surprise.

During his final period at the Ninja Academy, Obito had enjoyed the respectful gazes of others, but more often he was an object of disdain, and he had never forgotten that time as the Uchiha dropout.

However, Obito wasn’t thinking of retaliating against the students and teachers who had looked down on him before; he would only cherish the present more and be grateful to Muzuki for bringing about his change.

Kakashi’s expression was calm, and he didn’t take this reward too seriously.

For Kakashi, Ninja rank and such were not important; the few uses of this thing were that he could mock Obito after passing.

Moreover, this was also within Kakashi’s expectations; he had become a Chunin at six years old, and with his current mission record, becoming a Jonin was perfectly fine.

“Jonin, huh? This is a solid step towards my goal!” Might Guy showed an enthusiastic expression.

Might Duy’s initial hope for him was to become an excellent Ninja.

Excellence is determined by comparison; it is relative.

Due to Konoha’s high requirements for Jonin, every Konoha Jonin could be praised as excellent.

Shisui, hearing that Kakashi and the other two all had a chance to become Jonin, became even more determined to stay on the battlefield and earn merits; to get promoted, he needed to accumulate more achievements for himself.

“Time really flies; thinking about it now, it feels like graduation was just yesterday, but now everyone has hope of becoming a Jonin, moving further and further towards becoming independent Ninja,” Rin Nohara said with a smile.

She was the only one who directly became a Special Jonin, but Rin Nohara had no objection to this arrangement and was quite satisfied.

Because she was well aware of her own strength; with her current power, she was simply not strong enough to be a regular Jonin, and even if she were given the chance to participate in the assessment, she would certainly not pass.

She was much stronger than an ordinary Chunin, but a bit weaker than a true Jonin, though her Medical Ninjutsu, under Tsunade’s tutelage, could rival that of a true Medical Jonin.

“That’s because we haven’t been graduated for long,” Obito retorted.

They only graduated at nine years old, and it hadn’t even been two years yet.

“It also proves that we are truly excellent; I’ve never heard of any Ninja becoming a Jonin less than two years after graduation,” Obito couldn’t help but show a hint of pride.

Obito thought of something and immediately corrected himself, then asked Muzuki, “Muzuki-sensei, why is Rin directly becoming a Special Jonin instead of participating in the official Jonin assessment with us?”

He was worried that his previous words might cause Rin Nohara to misunderstand, as Rin Nohara’s arrangement was different from theirs.

“This arrangement is based on your performance in battle and your resumes,” Muzuki explained briefly.

He believed this arrangement was perfectly fine and was a consideration for Rin Nohara.

“I see…” Obito scratched his head, not quite understanding.

Kakashi glanced indifferently at Obito and said, “Don’t think Rin’s reward is worse than yours; you might not even pass the assessment, and then Rin’s Ninja rank will be higher than yours.”

Actually, Kakashi was already being merciful with his words; in his opinion, it wasn’t that Obito might not pass, but that he definitely wouldn’t pass the Jonin assessment.

Although Kakashi had never participated in a Jonin assessment, he had heard from others that the Jonin assessment was a comprehensive evaluation, and strength was only one aspect of it.

Given Obito’s theoretical knowledge, Kakashi had no doubt that Obito would fail the theoretical assessment.

Only if Muzuki intervened could Obito be saved, but Muzuki currently had no time to tutor Obito; Muzuki had to fight on the battlefield.

“How is that possible? Kakashi, don’t think that just because you won the Chunin Exams once, you’ll keep winning; I’ll definitely pass the assessment smoothly and become a Jonin,” Obito said dismissively.

He didn’t think he would fail the assessment; the Ninja Academy graduation exam could be considered a Genin assessment, and he got first place. In the Chunin Exams, he made it to the Four Finals, only to be defeated by the despicable Kakashi, who was a Chunin but participated in the Chunin Exams; otherwise, he would have had a chance at first place.

Therefore, Obito didn’t think he would fail the Jonin assessment; he even thought he could get a good score.

“Set a small goal: perform better than Kakashi in this Jonin assessment!” Obito thought confidently.

Kakashi smiled without speaking, not telling Obito the cruel truth; Obito wouldn’t be happy for much longer.

Kakashi could already envision Obito’s unwilling face, forced to obey him due to Ninja rank.

After delivering the good news, Muzuki briefly arranged the training plans for the few of them.

“Kakashi, after you return to Konoha, put aside other training for now and focus on Lightning Release Chakra Nature Transformation and swordsmanship,” Muzuki instructed.

One Thought Cut appears to be just a simple swing of a blade, but it actually contains extremely complex Lightning Release Chakra Nature Transformation techniques and profound swordsmanship mastery; an ultimate-level Lightning Release swordsmanship is no longer sufficient to describe this cut; it is the ultimate among ultimates.

Currently, Muzuki couldn’t even teach Kakashi; even with both teaching and enlightenment simultaneously applied, Kakashi wouldn’t be able to learn it.

So Muzuki hoped Kakashi would quickly strengthen these two areas, then begin learning One Thought Cut.

Although Kakashi’s Chakra would likely only be enough for one cut, that one cut could create miracles in many situations.

The upper limit of One Thought Cut is extremely high; Muzuki felt this deeply. Even with his over five thousand proficiency in Lightning Release Nature Transformation, using One Thought Cut felt like he was nowhere near its end.

Muzuki felt that perhaps when his Lightning Release Chakra Nature Transformation reached the perfect level, and his sword experience was as rich as his current taijutsu, the power of One Thought Cut would be terrifying.

Not only Kakashi, but Muzuki also needed to practice swordsmanship, because his skills in this area were basically all system rewards, and these rewards were only given through Kakashi’s life missions, so his level was generally average.

Due to insufficient mastery, even if Muzuki had ideas for the next step of One Thought Cut’s development, he couldn’t put them into action.

This wasn’t because Muzuki had extraordinary talent in swordsmanship, but because the world from which this skill originated had already provided the future direction: from the thoughtless One Thought Cut, without thought or desire, to the Dream True Speak, which discards thoughtlessness and carries dreams.

A bright light flashed in Kakashi’s eyes; usually, when Muzuki made such special requests, it meant he was going to teach something new, and it would be a very strong and special new ability to warrant such a request.

After all, if it wasn’t strong, there would be no need for special requirements.

“Once you meet the learning requirements, I will teach you a Lightning Release swordsmanship that is no worse than Golden Skyline,” Muzuki announced, intending to motivate Kakashi’s training.

Kakashi’s gaze sharpened; a Lightning Release swordsmanship no less than Golden Skyline. He had to work hard now.

Although Thunderclap Flash was very strong and fast, Kakashi felt it was still a bit lacking compared to Might Guy’s Golden Skyline. Now, Muzuki was finally going to teach him a stronger ability.

“How many Ninjutsu and Taijutsu has Muzuki-sensei developed?” Kakashi sighed inwardly once again at Muzuki’s terrifying talent.

He, who had been praised as a genius since childhood, was nothing compared to Muzuki. At only twenty years old, Muzuki had developed a bunch of super-advanced Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, including inverse secret techniques like Breathing Technique.

Even Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, who developed a large number of Ninjutsu and forbidden Ninjutsu, was not so exaggerated; it wasn’t a matter of the quantity of Ninjutsu, but of age. Muzuki at this age should primarily be accumulating knowledge.

“Is there a Fire Release Ninjutsu that’s no worse than Golden Skyline?” Obito, hearing this, couldn’t sit still.

He had already suffered enough from Golden Skyline; if there was another Lightning Release swordsmanship version of Golden Skyline, that would be unbearable.

“No,” Muzuki replied, shaking his head.

Fire Release Ninjutsu was a system completely unheard of in the Ninja World; Muzuki was able to develop a few moves entirely due to his rich knowledge of taijutsu and Fire Release.

Asking Muzuki to develop a Fire Release comparable to Golden Skyline would truly be difficult for him, unless he stopped researching everything else and only focused on Fire Release Ninjutsu, then there might be hope.

Muzuki felt that such a level of hope was less likely than Obito suddenly manifesting stronger Kusanagi-ryu ancient martial arts.

The disciple return system was uncontrollable, but life mission rewards were basically related to the disciples.

Disappointment was uncontrollable on Obito’s face.

Shisui also felt a strange sensation in his heart; although the Fire Release Muzuki taught was also very strong, there was no Fire Release Ninjutsu as stunning as Golden Skyline.

Breathing Technique was qualified, but everyone was practicing Breathing Technique; it was a common condition for everyone, whereas Golden Skyline was only suitable for Might Guy to practice alone.

“My best friend, I look forward to the day you succeed in your training!” Might Guy laughed excitedly.

He was very much looking forward to the moment when the Lightning Release swordsmanship, no less powerful than Golden Skyline, would clash with his Golden Skyline; it was simply too youthful.

“I still need to keep working hard to catch up,” Rin Nohara encouraged herself inwardly.

In terms of training, Rin Nohara was basically consistently at the bottom; various super-advanced Ninjutsu were not for her, simply because her own Ninja qualities were insufficient.

For example, Muzuki’s self-improved super-advanced Water Release: Super Exploding Water Shockwave; Muzuki had once used this move to easily kill dozens of Snow Ninja.

However, to learn Super Exploding Water Shockwave, one would need at least one thousand five hundred proficiency in Water Breathing, plus mastery in Water Release Chakra Nature Transformation, and a considerable amount of Chakra.

Rin Nohara didn’t meet any of these requirements, so she clearly couldn’t learn it.
