Chapter Index

“How about it? Do you dare to have a match with me?” Obito challenged.

“Do you think I, who have always been the victor, would fear a loser’s challenge?” Kakashi couldn’t help but retort.

Although he wasn’t confident about the fight in his heart, seeing Obito so arrogant just made Kakashi feel annoyed.

“That’s all in the past. Now, I am stronger,” Obito said confidently, crossing his arms.

With his two-tomoe Sharingan activated and his Flame Breathing having improved, he had made too much progress on this mission. Not to mention Kakashi, he was even confident enough to challenge Shisui.

“You can say that after you’ve truly beaten me,” Kakashi said indifferently.

Seeing the growing tension between the two, Muzuki acted as a referee and gathered all the disciples to watch the battle.

“A little competition now and then is not bad,” Muzuki said with a smile. He had high hopes for Obito this time.

Not only had Obito’s theoretical strength surpassed Kakashi’s, but he had also performed very well in his battle against the Kumogakure Jonin. He was no longer the combat novice he once was.

Obito and Kakashi stood face to face, forming the Confrontation Seal.

“Obito, Kakashi, both of you, good luck!” Rin Nohara cheered for both of them, waving her small fists.

Hearing Rin Nohara’s words, Obito thought to himself that he must thoroughly beat Kakashi this time to let Rin Nohara know his true strength.

“Begin the battle!” Muzuki announced swiftly.

    Bang!

As soon as Muzuki finished speaking, both Obito and Kakashi instantly threw punches, their fists meeting.

“Kakashi, your punch lacks power,” Obito chuckled, then quickly changed his breathing rhythm, entering the Flame Breathing state, and pushed Kakashi back.

Kakashi’s expression remained unchanged. Using the force from Obito and a nearby tree, he suddenly launched himself and delivered a punch to Obito.

The two had very different Taijutsu styles. Obito’s various moves were wide and sweeping, focusing on brute force, while Kakashi relied more on technique in his combat.

The two fought fiercely, almost constantly clashing, but maintaining a state of equilibrium.

“This is what youth should be like!” Might Guy watched the close-quarters combat with surging excitement, wishing he could step in and fight Kakashi in Obito’s place.

Seeing Might Guy eager to jump in, Muzuki put two fingers together and waved them in front of Might Guy’s eyes.

“Youth also needs good rest,” Might Guy immediately remembered that he was still in a recovery period and intense exercise was not allowed.

    “Flame Breathing, Total Concentration Breathing!”

After a series of probing attacks, Obito went all out, entering an incredibly concentrated breathing state, absorbing large amounts of oxygen from the air to strengthen himself.

After using Total Concentration Breathing, Obito’s physical abilities instantly improved. Both his speed and strength saw significant boosts, allowing him to instantly suppress Kakashi.

    “Thunder Breathing!”

Kakashi also entered the Thunder Breathing state. Although it didn’t provide as much of a boost as Obito’s, it still enhanced him somewhat.

    Swish!

Kakashi swiftly drew his White Fang Short Blade and swung it at Obito with extreme speed.

With a whoosh, Obito used the Body Flicker Technique to dodge.

Although he had greater strength, he couldn’t take Kakashi’s blade with his bare body.

After retreating, Obito immediately began forming hand signs. After forming the signs, he quickly took out a large number of Shuriken from his ninja pouch and threw them at Kakashi. The greatest enhancement of Flame Breathing was to Fire Release, not physical abilities.

“Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Claw Crimson!”

Currently, the strongest Fire Release Obito had mastered was Phoenix Sage Flower Claw Crimson. Not only did it have a large range, but its power was also considerable, possessing the sharpness of Shuriken and the high temperature of flames.

Obito spat out a large ball of fire. After the Shuriken passed through the flames, they transformed into small fireballs and rapidly flew towards Kakashi.

    “Lightning Release: False Darkness!”

Kakashi’s hand movements were swift. A large amount of Chakra condensed in his throat, then rapidly underwent Nature Transformation, finally forming a lightning spear that Kakashi spat out.

    Boom!

The rapidly moving lightning quickly collided with the numerous small fireballs of Phoenix Sage Flower Claw Crimson. A huge explosion erupted. The air currents caused by the explosion made Obito and Kakashi’s hair float backward, and a scorched mark appeared on the ground.

“They’re both so amazing,” Rin Nohara exclaimed, watching the two clash with Ninjutsu.

Compared to Obito and Kakashi, she seemed a bit specialized now, with her combat ability mainly relying on Taijutsu.

“He actually blocked my full Phoenix Sage Flower Claw Crimson, enhanced by Flame Breathing. It seems I’ll have to use my Sharingan,” Obito decided to use his full strength.

Originally, he wanted to see if he could defeat Kakashi without using his Sharingan. Now, it seemed that without his Sharingan, they would most likely be evenly matched.

Obito concentrated Chakra in his eyes. The color of his eyes quickly changed to blood red, and two tomoe patterns appeared within them.

“He finally used it,” Kakashi watched Obito cautiously, wary of Obito’s sudden attack, while also planning how he should counterattack later.

Although he knew his chances of winning were slim, Kakashi didn’t give up. Obito could talk about a single mistake in a mission for a month. If he lost here, Obito would probably remind Kakashi every day that he lost.

“Sharingan, and it’s even two tomoe!” Shisui exclaimed in surprise when he saw Obito’s eyes.

Since Obito had slept all day yesterday and only trained for a morning today, except for Muzuki and others who were on the mission with him, Shisui and Rin Nohara didn’t know that Obito had awakened his Sharingan, and that it was two tomoe right from the start.

Shisui was greatly shocked. Obito didn’t have the Sharingan before the mission, but now he could use it, which could only mean that Obito awakened it during the mission. And with such a short time, the Sharingan couldn’t have been trained and upgraded, meaning Obito’s Sharingan was two tomoe upon awakening.

As a Uchiha, Shisui knew what this meant: it meant Obito had great talent in the Sharingan.

Shisui felt a deep sense of danger. His Sharingan was still only one tomoe.

“That’s the Uchiha Clan’s Sharingan,” Rin Nohara wasn’t as surprised as Shisui.

She knew about the Sharingan because Obito often boasted that if he had the Sharingan, he would definitely crush Kakashi, but she didn’t understand the significance of the Sharingan, nor the value of awakening two tomoe.

    Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

After activating his Sharingan, Obito became very confident. He casually pulled out a Shuriken and threw it at Kakashi, then took out a Kunai and charged at Kakashi.

Kakashi dodged the Shuriken, but because of this, Obito seized the opportunity, and the two began a new round of combat.

    Clang!

Kakashi’s White Fang Short Blade constantly collided with Obito’s Kunai. Although Obito hadn’t learned any special sword or blade techniques, relying on the Sharingan’s powerful insight and the physical abilities provided by his Breathing Technique, he successfully left a few scratches on Kakashi’s clothes.

“Such strong observational ability, all my attacks are being seen through,” Kakashi frowned tightly.

Previously, when he saw Obito activate his Sharingan, he hadn’t been able to suppress the Kumogakure Jonin in close combat, so he thought he could narrow the gap between their strengths with his sword skills.

However, in actual combat, the boost provided by the Sharingan was much greater than he had imagined.

    “Purple Lightning!”

Kakashi knew he couldn’t keep fighting Obito like this, so he unleashed Chakra in his hand, and a dazzling Purple Lightning appeared in Kakashi’s hand.

Obito immediately flickered backward, retreating. He was aware of the power of this Ninjutsu.

However, Obito didn’t expect this to be a feint from Kakashi. Both Purple Lightning and Pseudo-Darkness were extremely Chakra-consuming Ninjutsu. He had used Pseudo-Darkness once before, and if he used Purple Lightning again, Kakashi would be pretty much exhausted.

Having scared Obito away, Kakashi quickly retreated towards the dense forest. If he couldn’t face him head-on, he would use tactics.

Kakashi hid behind a tree, and Obito temporarily lost sight of Kakashi.

Obito quickly leaped to a high vantage point, using his Sharingan to observe his surroundings, but he didn’t see any sign of Kakashi moving.

“It seems he’s hiding there,” Obito nodded, then quickly formed hand signs.

    “Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!”

Obito concentrated Chakra in his throat and then spat out a large amount of flames in one breath. The flames quickly formed a three-meter-tall Great Fireball that flew towards the tree where Kakashi was hiding.

Obito knew Kakashi was particularly cunning, so he directly used the Great Fireball, which had low consumption and high power, to probe him. If he didn’t come out, he would have to take the Great Fireball head-on.

Things went as Obito expected; Kakashi decisively ran out.

And Obito seized this opportunity to attack Kakashi.

    Poof!

A Kunai sliced through Kakashi’s body, but this Kakashi immediately dispersed into smoke.

    “Thunder Breathing: Thunderclap Flash!”

Kakashi, who had quietly moved using Earth Release, reappeared. He concentrated his breathing as much as possible, then unleashed Chakra in his feet, and struck at Obito with the hilt of his sword.

At this moment, Kakashi was as fast as lightning; Rin Nohara could barely make out Kakashi’s body.

“Haha, I was waiting for that move!” Obito was not worried but happy. He had known that Kakashi wasn’t that easy to deal with and had been on guard.

The incredibly fast Kakashi in Rin Nohara’s eyes wasn’t too fast in Obito’s two-tomoe Sharingan.

Obito concentrated his breathing to the extreme, then dodged Kakashi’s swing by moving to the side. When he noticed Kakashi’s body pause, he instantly moved and held a Kunai to Kakashi.

“Obito wins,” Muzuki immediately announced the result. This time, Kakashi was the real body.

The final result was as he expected; the advantage of a pair of two-tomoe Sharingan was truly significant.

“Haha, I won this time!” Obito couldn’t help but cheer.

It had been four years. He had finally personally defeated the genius he had always admired. He wasn’t the dead last Uchiha Obito, but the genius Uchiha Obito, because he had defeated the genius Kakashi Hatake!

“Effort will lead to a bountiful harvest!” Watching Obito cheer, the emotional Might Guy immediately empathized, recalling the moment of surprise when he first defeated Kakashi.

At that moment, he truly felt that all his efforts had not been in vain, and everything had paid off.

Hope I can fall asleep early today. If I can fall asleep before one, I should have the energy for a thousand words tomorrow.
