Chapter 159 Konoha Classic Project
by Sunflower“I’m really looking forward to it, the life of a Ninja.” Obito woke up early, washed up, and then headed towards the meeting point he had agreed upon with Muzuki.
“Who will the other teammate be? Could it be Rin? Is Muzuki-sensei tricking us to give us a surprise?” Obito couldn’t help but fantasize.
“Hand-grilled Uncle, give me a pancake.” Obito quickly ran to the pancake stand to buy breakfast.
After buying it, Obito quickly ate as he walked, rushing towards the Training Ground.
After studying at the Ninja Academy for so many years, Obito was extremely excited to finally have the opportunity to experience the life of a Ninja.
“Grandma, do you need help?” Obito suddenly noticed an elder who needed assistance.
Obito quickly finished his pancake, threw the trash into a bin, and went to help.
“Today was also a very meaningful day,” Obito said with a smile after helping the second elder.
“Wait, I still have to meet up!” Obito suddenly remembered that today was the day for the Intern Ninja gathering, so he sprinted towards the Training Ground.
He was glad he woke up early today; even if he was delayed a bit on the way, he shouldn’t be too late.
Upon entering the Training Ground, Obito heard two familiar voices and saw two familiar figures.
“As expected of my best friend and rival, to meet so coincidentally in so many Training Grounds.”
“No, I’m not here to train, I’m here to find a team.”
“Shall we have a youthful and passionate competition? Let’s race.”
“No, I have something to do today.”
“Hey, Kakashi, why are you here?” Obito couldn’t help but rush forward and ask when he saw Kakashi.
He had a very bad premonition; Kakashi couldn’t possibly be the other teammate, could he?
“It shouldn’t be. Kakashi graduated years ago and has already become a Chunin. How could he be an Intern Ninja with us? He must just be here to train and we happened to run into him,” Obito comforted himself.
Hearing Obito’s voice, Kakashi turned to look at Obito, feeling a bit confused. It was one thing to coincidentally run into Might Guy, but why was Obito here too?
“I should be the one asking that. Don’t you have to go to school at this time?” Kakashi said indifferently.
“You’re such an idiot! Ninja Academy was on break last week,” Obito seized the opportunity to retort.
“My apologies. After all, I’ve been graduated for so long, so my sense of time isn’t as sharp as yours. It really has been a long time, three years have passed, and you’re still attending the Ninja Academy,” Kakashi mocked.
“You…” Obito was speechless. Whenever the conversation turned to this, he would always be at a disadvantage, unable to retort because it was all true.
“I don’t have time to waste with you Guys today,” Kakashi said, then prepared to look elsewhere. He didn’t have Obito’s habit of being late.
“You must be Kakashi Hatake, right?” Muzuki appeared beside Kakashi in a flash and asked.
“So fast!” Kakashi’s pupils suddenly constricted, and he instinctively took two steps back. He hadn’t noticed when Muzuki appeared at all, sensing no presence.
Coming back to his senses, Kakashi nodded and said, “I am. Are you Captain Habsheng?”
Hiruzen Sarutobi had told Kakashi that the name of the instructor for the squad he was joining was Hayate Mugetsu.
Looking at Muzuki’s face, Kakashi recalled some memories. He seemed to have seen Muzuki once before, perhaps during the Youth Ninjutsu Competition.
“Yes, I am,” Muzuki said with a gentle smile.
“Captain?” The bad feeling in Obito’s heart reached its peak.
“That’s right, Kakashi will be your teammate,” Muzuki announced directly.
“No, this is completely wrong!” Obito couldn’t hold back.
He never imagined that the person Muzuki said he knew would be Kakashi. He did know him, but Kakashi shouldn’t be here, no matter how he thought about it.
“Obito, do you have a problem?” Muzuki asked.
“Kakashi graduated ages ago! He’s already a Chunin now, so why would he join our Intern Ninja team?” Obito scratched his head and asked.
He had thought it could be anyone but Kakashi, and yet it turned out to be Kakashi.
“Intern Ninja?” Kakashi also showed a puzzled expression. He had originally thought running into Obito and Might Guy was a coincidence, but it seemed they were his future teammates.
“The reason is a bit special, but for the next few months, Kakashi will be your teammate. That is beyond doubt,” Muzuki replied.
“Obito and Guy haven’t graduated yet. This is an Intern Ninja activity held by the Ninja Academy to help excellent students get started with Ninja work more quickly in the future.”
Muzuki then answered Kakashi’s question and explained the Intern Ninja situation to him.
Kakashi instantly felt like he had been tricked by Hiruzen Sarutobi. What was this about throwing him in with Ninja Academy students?
“Was I careless after a period of rest? I didn’t even notice a Ninja Academy teacher getting close to me,” Kakashi thought, reflecting.
“Everyone, let’s do some self-introductions. Although you are Intern Ninjas, you are still Ninjas, and it’s different from before.”
“I’ll start first. My name is Hayate Mugetsu. I like teaching and watching students get stronger little by little. My hobby is calligraphy, and I like dishes related to eggs,” Muzuki said with a gentle smile.
“As expected of Muzuki-sensei!” Might Guy gave Muzuki a thumbs-up.
“I am Might Guy! I like training, and my dream is to become the strongest Taijutsu Ninja in the world! I want everyone to know that even if you can’t use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, you can still become strong!” Might Guy shouted passionately.
“That’s exactly what he would say,” Kakashi thought to himself. Becoming strong without Ninjutsu or Genjutsu—only Might Guy could say something like that.
“I am Uchiha Obito! I like helping people in need, I dislike doing homework, and my dream is to become a Hokage who surpasses all previous Hokage!” Obito quickly said.
Seeing that everyone else had introduced themselves, Kakashi knew he had to speak. So he thought for a moment and began:
“I am Kakashi Hatake. I don’t want to talk about what I like or dislike, and I have no interests or dreams.”
“Didn’t you just say nothing but your name?” Obito couldn’t help but retort.
Kakashi completely ignored Obito’s words and looked at Muzuki with a calm expression.
“Such personal things cannot be forced. Now, let’s begin our first training,” Muzuki said, taking out three small bells.
“For the next day, you will succeed if you manage to snatch a bell from me.”
“Those who fail will have to sort out their own dinner and won’t get my special cooking.”
“Boring,” Kakashi thought dismissively. What kind of punishment was that?
That’s all for today. More updates tomorrow. It really feels much better after the debugging.
