Chapter Index

Not long after Shisui returned home, an unexpected guest arrived.

“Clan Head-sama,” Shisui greeted Uchiha Fugaku.

“There’s no need to be so formal. Just call me Uncle. I once fought alongside your father,” Uchiha Fugaku said with a slight smile.

“Understood, Uncle Fugaku,” Shisui nodded in agreement.

“Is there something you need from me today?” Shisui asked.

He didn’t think Uchiha Fugaku, the head of the Uchiha Clan, would come to him without a reason; he wasn’t his actual uncle.

“Nothing really. It’s time again for the clan to give rewards to outstanding Uchiha. I just happened to have some free time, so I brought yours over and took the opportunity to see our Uchiha genius,” Uchiha Fugaku said with a chuckle.

“Thank you for the trouble,” Shisui said gratefully.

He didn’t care much for the so-called rewards. Although Shisui had no parents or grandparents, he wasn’t short on money.

His parents left him a considerable inheritance, enough for him to live on for a lifetime, even if he didn’t become a Ninja.

“Hahaha, it’s no trouble at all. It’s not that far,” Uchiha Fugaku laughed.

“Shisui, do you have any plans for the future?” Uchiha Fugaku suddenly asked.

Uchiha Fugaku put down the items he was going to give and continued:

“I heard that you, Shisui, already possess the strength to defeat a graduating Genin. Have you considered graduating early? The Ninja Academy curriculum isn’t of much help to you anymore.”

“If you graduate early, I can make an exception and directly transfer you to the Police Force. Then you can learn from the Jonin within the clan.”

Generally, newly graduated Genin cannot directly join departments like the Police Force; they must first be mentored by a Jonin for some time. However, Uchiha Fugaku was the chief, so he believed it wouldn’t be a problem to apply to the Third Hokage.

After listening, Shisui already shook his head inwardly. He had already asked Muzuki about early graduation, and he felt Muzuki’s suggestion was excellent. Moreover, he didn’t think any Uchiha Jonin could surpass Muzuki in strength and teaching ability.

However, since Uchiha Fugaku, the Uchiha Clan head, personally came to see him, Shisui felt it would be too direct to refuse immediately. After a moment, he politely declined:

“Uncle Fugaku, I feel I’m still some distance away from being a full-fledged Ninja in overall aspects, so I don’t plan to graduate early for now.”

“Hmm, that’s fine too. I didn’t expect you, Shisui, to be so steady at such a young age. You will surely achieve great things in the future.” Although rejected, Uchiha Fugaku showed no displeasure on his face; instead, he praised him.

“Shisui, are you still on good terms with Uchiha Obito? I heard Uchiha Obito has made great progress recently and has also been recognized as an outstanding Uchiha,” Uchiha Fugaku continued to chat.

“Yes,” Shisui nodded in affirmation. Muzuki only told them not to reveal that he was their teacher, but he didn’t tell them to act like strangers among themselves.

“What do you think of Uchiha Obito?” Uchiha Fugaku asked casually.

“He is a very excellent Uchiha and trains very hard,” Shisui replied.

Uchiha Fugaku asked directly, so he answered directly.

“You outstanding Uchiha should interact more. The Uchiha Clan will depend on you in the future,” Uchiha Fugaku smiled and nodded.

When Fugaku was about to leave, Shisui walked to the door to see him off.

“The Konoha Police Force, huh…” Shisui shook his head.

What Uchiha Fugaku said held no appeal for him whatsoever.

“Dad, I’m home.” Might Guy’s injuries weren’t severe, and he quickly returned home after being treated with Medical Ninjutsu.

“Guy, how was the exam today? Did you fully unleash your youth!” Might Duy asked.

“I lost to Obito today. I only got second place in the grade this time,” Might Guy replied.

“But Obito was really strong today. Even though I gave it my all, I still couldn’t win.”

    Slap!

Might Duy clapped his hands heavily onto Might Guy’s shoulders and said tearfully:

“Guy, as long as you burn your youth to the fullest, even if you fail, there’s no need to be discouraged. And second place is a good thing! It means you won’t have to worry about a lack of opponents to fight in the future.”

“I’m not discouraged. I lost that fight fair and square, and currently, I’ve still won more fights against Obito!” Might Guy said, giving a thumbs-up.

His fight with Obito today was purely due to a slight difference in strength. Might Guy was well aware of this, but he believed he would catch up soon.

“That’s how youth should be, Guy! I’m proud of you,” Might Duy looked at Might Guy with great satisfaction and embraced him.

“After burning your youth, you also need to fill your stomach in time. I’ve already prepared dinner, Guy, hurry and eat,” Might Duy served the prepared meal to Might Guy.

Just as Might Guy was about to eat, their door was knocked upon.

“Someone’s knocking, that’s rare! Could it be a client?” Might Duy walked forward to open the door.

“No way, no matter how you think about it,” Might Guy grumbled. Who would come to a Genin for a mission?

“Haha, it’s not impossible! I’m a cat-finding expert recognized by Hokage-sama!” Might Duy laughed loudly.

“Who are you?” After opening the door, Might Duy saw two unfamiliar Ninja.

“Who is it?” Might Guy curiously poked his head out to look, and his expression changed.

He didn’t know the names of those two Ninja, but he hadn’t forgotten their faces—they were the two who had insulted his father not long ago and whom he had chased down and beaten.

“Are they here for revenge?” Might Guy couldn’t bother eating. He put down his chopsticks and ran to Might Duy’s side.

“What are you two planning to do?” Might Guy asked, cautiously staring at them.

As soon as the two made a move, he would immediately enter Rock Breathing state and attack to protect his father.

“Guy, do you know them?” Might Duy asked, puzzled.

The tall Ninja and the slightly plump Ninja stood together and took a step forward together.

Seeing this, Might Guy quickly changed his breathing rhythm, looking for a good direction to attack, careful not to damage his house.

But something Might Guy didn’t expect happened.

The two bowed in unison and said, “We’re sorry!”

Might Guy silently retracted the leg he was preparing to kick out and returned to normal breathing.

“Guy, what’s going on? Why are they suddenly apologizing?” Might Duy still didn’t understand why two unfamiliar Ninja suddenly came out to apologize.

“We shouldn’t have mocked you for being a perpetual Genin before. As fellow Konoha Ninja, we should respect each other,” the slightly plump Ninja apologized.

“And I also shouldn’t have attacked a Ninja Academy student as a Ninja,” the tall Ninja also apologized.

Not long after Might Guy left, they woke up. At the time, in their anger, they didn’t feel they had done anything wrong, and were even unconvinced.

However, they gradually calmed down later.

Because the strength Might Guy displayed was truly extraordinary. Although they didn’t use Ninjutsu, nor did they use Ninja tools or any insidious Taijutsu, it was simply too exaggerated that Might Guy knocked out them, who were Chunin.

Even if it was because they underestimated Might Guy and didn’t use their full strength, they were still Chunin, not newly graduated Genin.

They went to inquire about Might Guy’s latest news and only then realized that what they had heard about him being a ‘dead last’ was outdated information; the current Might Guy had long since turned the tables and become the top student in the Ninja Academy.

The two discussed for a while and finally decided to go to Might Guy’s house to apologize.

Might Guy already had such strength now; in a few years, beating them would be effortless. Although Ninja from the same village couldn’t kill each other, beating someone up in the dark wasn’t a big deal.

They felt there was no need to offend someone who might become strong in the future over something as trivial as trash-talking.

“These are all for our apology; please accept them,” the tall Ninja handed over some tonics and a large bag of various vegetables from behind him.

“And this money is for your medical expenses for going to the hospital,” the slightly plump Ninja said, taking out some banknotes.

Might Duy looked at Might Guy. He wasn’t aware of the full story, so he let Might Guy decide.

“We’ll accept the items, but you can take the money back. I wasn’t injured and don’t need to see a doctor,” Might Guy accepted the tonics and the large bag of vegetables but refused the money.

Might Guy believed that the score for them insulting his father had already been settled; he had already punched them back. The tonics and vegetables could be considered compensation for their disrespect, but he definitely wouldn’t take the money.

Although he knew his family wasn’t wealthy, he knew his father would definitely not accept such money.

“Just take it; it’s not much, just twenty thousand Ryo,” the tall Ninja persuaded.

“Correcting one’s mistakes is also a manifestation of youth, but you should still take the money back,” Might Duy refused.

Since Might Guy had already decided, Might Duy was even less likely to accept it.

Finally, the slightly plump Ninja and the tall Ninja exchanged glances and had no choice but to take it back.

At this moment, they already felt some admiration for the Might Guy and Might Duy father-son duo. They clearly had to haggle for meat, but they wouldn’t take money that wasn’t rightfully theirs.

During dinner, Might Guy knew he couldn’t hide it anymore, so he told Might Duy what had happened.

“If someone is talking about you behind your back, it only means you are living a much more exciting life than them.

Sarcasm is praise for you, gossip is applause for your brilliance. They are merely singing a song of victory for you. Because I don’t live to please you,” Might Duy said earnestly.

He had always maintained this mindset. No matter what people around him said, Might Duy didn’t care, only seeing it as support for him, because those were not the people he cared about.

Might Guy didn’t answer Might Duy’s words. While that was true, he could tolerate others calling him a ‘dead last,’ but he couldn’t accept his father being insulted or looked down upon by others.

“However, to be able to gain an advantage in a fight against official Ninja means your youth is constantly progressing with a song!” Might Duy said, giving a thumbs-up.

“You’ve grown to this extent. It seems it’s time to officially hand that over to you,” Might Duy said.

Although Might Duy himself was a perpetual Genin, he believed Might Guy’s future wouldn’t be like his. Guy was more outstanding than him, and he had always planned to pass on the Eight Gates to Might Guy.

However, because the Eight Gates was too dangerous, Might Duy planned to teach it after Might Guy became a Ninja. Now, he felt Might Guy could officially begin training in the Eight Gates.

“What ‘that’?” Might Guy was a little confused.

“You’ll know tonight,” Might Duy replied.

That evening, Might Duy took Might Guy to his training spot and spoke to him seriously:

“What I’m about to teach you is the Eight Gates, not ordinary Taijutsu, but one of the Forbidden Jutsu!”

“Forbidden Jutsu!” Might Guy was somewhat surprised.

Muzuki had once told them that their Breathing Technique could be called a Secret Technique or a Forbidden Jutsu.

Might Guy knew how powerful the Breathing Technique was; even without mastering it yet, it could significantly increase his strength and enhance training effects.

And his father might actually possess a Taijutsu on the same level as Rock Breathing. This greatly surprised Might Guy because he knew his father was a Ninja who couldn’t even be promoted to Chunin.

“That’s right. It took me a full twenty years to master the Eight Gates, and this is the only Taijutsu I can teach you,” Might Duy continued.

“Gate of Opening, open! Gate of Life, open! … Gate of View, open!”

Opening six Gates in one breath, Might Duy unleashed extremely powerful Chakra at this moment. A dense green energy enveloped his entire body, and the instantly erupting aura caused the surrounding weeds to flatten and the leaves of the trees to rustle.

“So strong!” Might Guy’s eyes widened, showing an incredible expression as he sensed Might Duy’s terrifying aura at that moment.

“This Forbidden Jutsu is very powerful, but also very dangerous. That’s why I’m only teaching it to you now,” Might Duy said seriously.

The Eight Gates was too dangerous; he had to make it clear to Might Guy.

That night, Might Guy had a little trouble sleeping.

Today, Might Duy had truly shocked Might Guy.

Originally, although he liked and respected his father very much, he didn’t think his father was very strong. When those two Ninja came to their door, Might Guy deliberately walked in front of Might Duy.

He didn’t expect his Genin father to be able to unleash such terrifying strength. Might Guy was truly excited and happy.

However, there were also worries. Last night, he studied the Eight Gates all night and found that the Eight Gates, as expected of the Forbidden Jutsu his father spent a full twenty years mastering, was truly no simpler than Rock Breathing.

Might Guy was worried that if he trained in both the Eight Gates and Rock Breathing together, his progress would fall even further behind, disappointing Muzuki.

Might Guy was a man of action. He told Muzuki about this the next morning.

“Teacher Muzuki, I’m sorry, but my Breathing Technique progress might be even slower from now on,” Might Guy said.

“Not necessarily. Perhaps the collision of two Forbidden Jutsu will produce a positive reaction,” Muzuki said with a smile.

“The Eight Gates requires a strong body, and Rock Breathing is the strongest for body training.”

“By the way, I actually know a little about the Eight Gates too. If you don’t understand anything while training here, you can ask me.”

“Teacher, you also know the Eight Gates!” Might Guy was extremely shocked. He remembered that Muzuki wasn’t even twenty years old, yet he had mastered several Forbidden Jutsu.
