Chapter Index

After two and a half days of training, Obito finally mastered the Shadow Clone Technique on the afternoon of the third day.

“Shadow Clone Technique!” Obito formed a hand seal and gathered Chakra.

    Bang!

A puff of white smoke flashed, and another Obito, identical to the original, neither fatter nor thinner nor shorter, appeared beside Obito.

“I finally succeeded!” Obito cheered with delight.

He could already imagine how comfortable his life would be from now on: Shadow Clone for school, Shadow Clone for homework, Shadow Clone for chores, and playing with Rin… No, he had to do that himself.

“That’s great,” Might Guy silently dispelled his Shadow Clone, whose skin was the color of rock.

He also wished he could send his Shadow Clone to school.

“From now on, you go to school, and I’ll leave the homework to you too,” Obito said to his Shadow Clone, feeling pleased.

However, the Shadow Clone gave Obito an unexpected answer.

“Why should I be the one to go to school?” the Shadow Clone asked.

The Shadow Clone’s question stumped Obito. Obito thought for a moment and replied, “Because you’re my Shadow Clone.”

“You are Uchiha Obito, and I am also Uchiha Obito. Why can’t you go to school and do the homework?” the Shadow Clone argued logically.

“Because… because…” Obito scratched his head, suddenly feeling that the Shadow Clone had a point.

“How about I eat Muzuki-sensei’s meals from now on? That way, you’ll get the memory of delicious food without worrying about gaining weight,” the Shadow Clone suggested.

“I can also help you play with Rin, so you’ll have more time to train.”

“No, no, absolutely not!” Obito waved his hands, shaking his head frantically.

“How come this Shadow Clone of yours only thinks about eating, drinking, and having fun?” Obito suddenly realized a problem.

“Don’t you also want to dump all the annoying things on me and then go eat, drink, and have fun yourself?” the Shadow Clone retorted impolitely.

Obito was speechless and immediately dispelled the Shadow Clone Technique.

“Muzuki-sensei, haven’t I learned the Shadow Clone Technique yet?” Obito asked, puzzled. He felt there was something wrong with his Shadow Clone.

Muzuki used his appraisal skill to look at Obito; the Shadow Clone had already been mastered.

“You’ve already learned it. You don’t need to study this Ninjutsu anymore,” Muzuki replied.

“But I feel like I haven’t learned it yet. This Shadow Clone isn’t right,” Obito felt he still needed to learn.

“A Shadow Clone’s thoughts are the same as the original’s,” Muzuki said tactfully.

The Ninja World is vast, and there are many talented individuals. Obito arguing with his Shadow Clone was nothing; in the future, there would even be a Ninja who fought with his Shadow Clone.

“Hehe, then I’ll start training in the Breathing Technique,” Obito showed an embarrassed smile; he understood Muzuki’s meaning.

If the original wanted to be lazy, then the clone would also want to be lazy.

Obito’s rating of the Second Hokage dropped a bit in his heart. Although this Ninjutsu was good, there were still many areas that weren’t thoroughly considered.

A fulfilling life always passes quickly, and time soon reached the last day before school started.

“Everyone, take a break tomorrow. Those who want to play, go play. Those who don’t want to can lie in the yard and ponder life. After today, there won’t be much time to rest.

Of course, if you really want to train, you can come here. I’ll be training here,” Muzuki said.

“Rin, let’s go play together tomorrow!” Obito chose to rest tomorrow, as Muzuki had strongly recommended it.

“Okay,” Rin Nohara nodded and agreed.

After all, she had already refused once before, and it was the last day before school, so it was indeed a good time to relax.

“Then tomorrow morning, let’s go find Kakashi and invite him along,” Rin Nohara thought for a moment and said.

Obito’s joyful mood instantly diminished a bit. He actually wanted it to be just the two of them, but since Rin Nohara wanted to invite Kakashi, Obito asked Might Guy:

“Guy, do you want to come play with us?”

“No, tomorrow I’m going to train in Rock Breathing,” Might Guy refused.

From his Shadow Clone’s learning, it was clear that Might Guy’s mind was now solely focused on Rock Breathing.

“What about you, Shisui?” Obito looked at Shisui.

“You Guys have fun. My Flame Breathing progress is still quite far behind, so I plan to train all day tomorrow,” Shisui replied.

Previously, Shisui had been ahead in all kinds of training, but currently, his Breathing Technique progress was the worst. Although it wasn’t far behind, there was a noticeable gap compared to before, and he wanted to train more to catch up to Obito’s progress.

    Obito’s joy diminished even further.

This feeling was like there were four people in a dorm, and on the weekend, one suggested going out to play, but only two went out, and the other two said they wanted to study in the dorm. How could they truly enjoy themselves then?

“It’s only one day. Training one more day won’t accomplish much,” Obito comforted himself.

    The next day, morning.

Rin Nohara and Obito met at the designated spot, then the two went together to Kakashi’s house.

The two were lucky; Kakashi wasn’t on a mission today but was sitting at home, pondering life.

“Kakashi, do you want to go out and play?” Rin Nohara asked with a smile.

“Obito and I are starting school tomorrow. We might not have much time after school starts.”

“Isn’t Ninja Academy quite leisurely?” Kakashi asked, puzzled. He felt that when he was in school, he had too much free time.

“That’s because you’re too amazing, Kakashi!” Rin Nohara praised.

“Then let’s go,” Kakashi agreed. Anyway, he had nothing to do today.

Watching Kakashi agree, Obito’s previously upward-curving lips drooped again.

“Damn Kakashi, as a Ninja, he doesn’t do missions properly and rests all day!” Obito muttered softly, looking down.

    “Obito, you little…”

    Bang!

Before Rin Nohara could finish speaking, Obito, who wasn’t watching where he was going, crashed into a utility pole.

“Damn Kakashi, why can’t you put this utility pole in a place where no one will bump into it?” This was the second time Obito had hit it. He felt there was something seriously wrong with the pole’s location.

    Kakashi:…

“If there really was such a place, I’d help you find your brain and eyes first,” Kakashi replied.

He felt Obito wasn’t comfortable unless he was being attacked. How could he decide the location of this utility pole?

“Alright, don’t argue. It won’t hurt if you rub it,” Rin Nohara said softly, then walked in front of Obito and gently massaged the spot where he had just bumped himself.

“How is it? Feeling better?” Rin Nohara asked while gently rubbing.

“Hehe,” Obito felt Rin Nohara’s soft, warm hand and showed a satisfied smile. Although he didn’t quite hear what Rin Nohara asked, he still nodded.

“Then let’s keep going,” Rin Nohara said with a smile.

“Kakashi, did you eat breakfast?” Rin Nohara remembered something and asked.

Obito had come with her, so she knew that Obito, like her, hadn’t eaten.

“Not yet,” Kakashi shook his head.

“That’s good. I recently heard that a Tuanzi Shop with good flavor opened on the street. Their Sansai Tuanzi is delicious,” Rin Nohara explained.

Led by Rin Nohara, the three went together to the newly opened Tuanzi Shop on the street.

Each of the three bought one portion, with three skewers per portion.

“It looks really good,” Rin Nohara said, looking at the perfectly round, three-colored small Tuanzi on the small plate.

“It’s not as good as Muzuki-sensei’s Tempura,” Obito commented after eating.

“Only you would compare two completely different foods,” Kakashi said after eating a small Tuanzi.

“Hmm, the red one is red bean paste, it’s quite good, but I think strawberry filling would be better,” Rin Nohara was not affected by Obito’s words and said after taking a bite.

Although Muzuki’s cooking was delicious, desserts and main courses were two different categories.

“Kakashi, can you briefly describe the life of a formal Ninja? Obito and I will be graduating in two more semesters,” Rin Nohara asked curiously.

    “Training, missions,” Kakashi replied simply.

“That’s too simple, it’s like you said nothing at all,” Obito couldn’t help but complain.

“Is there anything special we need to pay attention to?” Rin Nohara didn’t mind and continued to ask.

“For a Ninja, missions are above all else. Completing the mission comes first,” Kakashi thought for a moment and said.

“You sound like a mature adult, Kakashi,” Rin Nohara joked.

“What do you mean missions are above all else? It’s definitely comrades! If a mission fails, there’s still a chance to make up for it, but if a comrade dies, there’s no way to bring them back to life!” Obito disagreed with Kakashi’s philosophy.

“That’s why you’re still a student, and I’ve already been a Chunin for a long time,” Kakashi said mercilessly.

“You’re too naive. Some missions, if they fail, will bring significant losses to the Village. That’s not something a single person’s life or death can compare to.”

“I will definitely become a better Ninja than you and prove it to you!” Obito was very unconvinced but helpless.

He currently had no capital to refute Kakashi, because he wasn’t even a Ninja yet.

“Alright, alright, you two will definitely be excellent Ninja in the future. Let’s go stroll around the shopping street,” Rin Nohara suggested.

Then, the three were basically led around by Rin Nohara. At noon, they even went for a picnic in the forest, and Obito suggested catching fish in the river to roast.

“Don’t drown. This river looks quite deep,” Kakashi warned.

“Don’t underestimate me! I have Chakra!” Obito, holding a wooden stick with a Kunai tied to it, directly stepped onto the water’s surface.

“He can already walk on water?” Kakashi was slightly surprised.

Although he was still far from him, Obito was indeed no longer the dead last Obito he remembered.

He had mastered Fire Release Nature Transformation, his Ninjutsu looked decent, and now he had even mastered walking on water.

Kakashi grilled the fish. Having lived alone for quite some time, he had skillfully mastered many survival techniques.

Obito watched Rin Nohara praise Kakashi’s grilled fish, secretly vowing to learn cooking from Muzuki when he had time.

He didn’t want to lose to Kakashi in any aspect.
