Chapter 119: Conducting a large-scale trial course (25)
by Sunflower“Good morning, Teacher Muzuki.”
“Hmm, good morning to you too, Teacher Kubo.”
“Teacher Muzuki, have you had breakfast yet? Do you want to grab a bite together after the meeting?”
“I have, thank you.”
It was morning, and perhaps the news of Muzuki’s promotion to Special Jonin had already spread among the teachers, as many more people were greeting him.
Fortunately, Muzuki’s memory was excellent now; he could remember the names of almost everyone he had interacted with, so he handled it with ease.
The first meeting of the new school year was a general assembly for all teachers, held in the lecture hall.
However, the Third Hokage was not present this time; the head of the teacher class was in charge.
“A new semester has begun. I hope everyone will continue to work hard in their teaching this semester and strive to cultivate excellent Ninja for the Village,” said the head of the teacher class.
The head of the teacher class was clearly a rather ordinary leader. His opening remarks reminded Muzuki of the speeches school leaders used to give—whether they were useful was debatable, but they were certainly boring.
The first meeting didn’t contain much substantive content. It mostly involved presenting cases of outstanding teachers from the previous semester for everyone to learn from, and any significant position changes were also announced there.
“Teacher Muzuki will serve as the Grade 1 Head, responsible for the teaching arrangements of Grade 1,” the head of the teacher class said with a smile, announcing Muzuki’s new position.
“Teacher Muzuki is an outstanding teacher at our Ninja Academy. During the break, he worked tirelessly to train students and is a role model for everyone to learn from.”
Muzuki stood up and responded.
The teachers applauded enthusiastically; no one was surprised by this.
Aside from the Third Hokage, who was the nominal principal, Muzuki was now one of only three Jonin at the Ninja Academy, and he was promoted to Special Jonin due to his outstanding teaching ability. His promotion was perfectly normal.
“Jonin Mutsuki, congratulations on your promotion,” Kimura Sugito joked.
“That’s right, Jonin Mutsuki, you went from a regular teacher to Grade 1 Head in just one semester. It’s enviable,” Ikeya Yu also said with a smile.
Ueda Aya also joined in.
They all shared the same small office and had a decent relationship, at least on the surface.
“Just call me Muzuki as before. Being called ‘Jonin’ feels a bit strange, and I’m not a formal Jonin, just a Special Jonin,” Muzuki said with a gentle smile.
“Special Jonin is still a Jonin, but it’s certainly more comfortable to just call you Muzuki,” Ikegaya Yu chuckled.
“Teacher Muzuki, a promotion and raise must be celebrated! Let’s go to an izakaya for drinks tonight, my treat.” Ikegaya Yu invited him, feeling generous since he still had a good portion of his excellent teacher bonus left.
“I’m going too,” Kimura Sugito said, hooking his arm around Ikegaya Yu’s shoulder.
“You can come, but you’re paying for yourself.”
“You’re treating Muzuki, but I have to pay for myself?” Kimura Sugito went straight for a headlock.
“Alright, alright, I’ll treat you too, okay?” Considering Kimura Sugito had lent him money to tide him over before, Ikegaya Yu decided to treat them both.
“What about me?” Ueda Aya asked.
Then Ueda Aya raised her voice and called out to Ikegaya Yu in a tone similar to calling “giegie,” which gave Ikegaya Yu goosebumps. He promptly declared that everyone was included.
Muzuki smiled and nodded.
He didn’t mind occasional small gatherings with colleagues he got along with, but Muzuki’s main body was very busy, so he usually sent a Shadow Clone. With Ikegaya Yu and their strength, they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Muzuki felt like he was unique; the suffering of clones in other worlds was completely different in his case. His main body worked hard teaching students, while his clone went out for drinks and dinners.
There was no other way; clones didn’t have the effect of skills. To help his students grow stronger sooner, he tried to teach with his main body as much as possible so that the students could receive the skill-teaching bonus.
In the afternoon, Muzuki was in another meeting, but this wasn’t a large assembly; it was a small meeting attended only by the heads of each grade level and the academic dean, held in the conference room.
The academic dean was the head of the teacher class.
This meeting had a lot of substantive content, essentially deciding the teaching arrangements for the semester.
“Dean Shimono, I have an idea that could alleviate the teachers’ teaching pressure,” Muzuki said.
Everyone looked at Muzuki. Although Muzuki was a newcomer, no one dared to underestimate him; he was a teacher valued by the Third Hokage.
Shimono Hisanobu smiled and nodded, saying, “The teachers’ teaching pressure is indeed quite high right now, and their schedules are very full. What is Teacher Muzuki’s method?”
“Consolidate courses and conduct large-group instruction,” Muzuki replied.
“Arrange the same courses for two or more classes at the same time, gather them together, and have one teacher instruct them. Originally, three classes would require three teachers, but with large-group instruction, only one teacher is needed.”
The teachers in the meeting room showed thoughtful expressions, feeling that Muzuki’s idea was indeed good and very useful for reducing teacher pressure.
“Would this affect the quality of the students’ learning?” Shimono Hisanobu thought for a moment and asked.
It sounded good, but could one teacher handle so many students?
Even if the teachers were under pressure, it couldn’t affect the quality of student instruction.
“I’ve already tried large-group teaching during the summer special training, and the results were quite good; the students all made good progress,” Muzuki explained with a smile.
Two of the grade heads present had gone with the Third Hokage to observe.
“Indeed, I remember Teacher Muzuki taught in three groups, right?” A grade teacher spoke up.
“Yes, there were a total of 359 people, and I divided them into three groups based on their learning progress for teaching,” Muzuki replied.
“Actually, we could start with a pilot program, for example, only in Grade 1, and only experiment with theoretical classes first,” Muzuki suggested.
He had already prepared the relevant arguments and rehearsed various scenarios; so far, everything was within his expectations.
“Only in Grade 1, and only theoretical classes…” Shimono Hisanobu pondered for a moment and found it feasible.
Grade 1 was still far from graduation, so a semester of experimentation wouldn’t be a big deal. Moreover, even if theoretical classes were subpar, it would be acceptable, as long as practical combat didn’t decline.
“Then this matter will be handled by you, Teacher Muzuki,” Shimono Hisanobu finally nodded in approval.
“Yes, I will do my best,” Muzuki said with a slight smile and a nod.
Everything was proceeding as he had anticipated.
Now, he just needed to arrange more large classes for himself, raise the strength of Class 1, Grade 1 to earn a wave of improvement rewards, and with Obito’s mission to take first place, his strength would soon see another small increase.
…
Meanwhile, Danzo was informed by Anbu to go to the Hokage Office.
Danzo didn’t think much of it; as a high-ranking official of Konoha holding an important position, it was normal for the Third Hokage to want to discuss matters with him.
