Chapter 69: Training Mission Completion (Seeking Follow-up Reading)
by Sunflower“Contestants Might Guy and Uchiha Obito, please enter the arena and prepare for the exam.”
As everyone expected, the final contenders for first place in the Grade Level Practical Exam were Might Guy and Obito.
Might Guy had defeated Hyuga Homura, who placed first in the previous exam, while Obito had displayed formidable strength in his battles against other contestants.
“Obito, you can do it!” Rin Nohara, watching from the sidelines, clenched her small fists and cheered for Obito.
“Rin, just you wait and see, I’m going to win,” Obito said with a confident smile, waving at Rin Nohara.
This time, he was absolutely determined to win first place.
To strengthen his abilities, he had endured considerable hardship because of that annoying Kakashi.
After a month of Nature Transformation and Ninjutsu training, and another month of Taijutsu 強化 training, Obito was no longer the Obito from two months ago who would be beaten by Taijutsu and unable to use Ninjutsu.
“Teacher Muzuki, let me show you my progress!” Obito noticed that Muzuki had also arrived at the exam venue.
“I’m the one who’s going to be first!” Might Guy flashed a brilliant smile, his two rows of pearly white teeth particularly dazzling in the sunlight.
When it came to confidence, he wouldn’t lose to Obito.
Even when he failed the Ninja Academy entrance exam, he still believed he would become the strongest!
“And, Teacher Muzuki is watching, so I definitely can’t lose,” Might Guy thought to himself.
He always remembered Muzuki’s kindness, and he hadn’t forgotten Muzuki’s words that his disciples’ improvement in strength was the best reward for him. He wanted to show Muzuki his strongest abilities.
“Then let’s give it a try. The practical exam isn’t like the previous training where Ninjutsu couldn’t be used,” Obito said, forming the Seal of Confrontation.
“Then let’s see whose youth can burn more fiercely,” Might Guy also formed the Seal of Confrontation according to the rules.
Watching the two form the Seal of Confrontation, Muzuki mentally ran through some predictions for the match’s outcome.
Their strengths were similar; although Obito’s Taijutsu was not as good as Might Guy’s, Obito knew two Fire Release, while Might Guy only knew the Three Body Technique in terms of Ninjutsu.
However, Muzuki felt that Might Guy had a slightly higher chance of winning.
Although Might Guy seemed a bit dazed normally, he was actually very calm during combat, whereas Obito was a bit erratic and more easily distracted during a fight.
So, even if their strengths were comparable, Muzuki still favored Might Guy.
“Begin the exam!” Shortly after the two had formed the Seal of Confrontation, the proctor announced the start of the battle.
“Leaf Whirlwind!”
As soon as the proctor’s words fell, Might Guy instantly charged out, rapidly delivering his most proficient Taijutsu kick towards Obito.
Obito, having been kicked by this move countless times, was already prepared. He instantly retreated sideways, dodging the kick.
Immediately after, Obito quickly threw several Shuriken while retreating, aiming them at Might Guy.
Might Guy vaguely guessed Obito’s strategy, but Obito’s Shuriken throwing technique was good, forcing Might Guy to dodge backward.
“Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!” After creating some distance, Obito dared not waste another second. He immediately formed hand signs and unleashed his most proficient Fire Release.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Blazing flames continuously spewed from Obito’s mouth, rapidly forming a giant fireball, two people high, which then hurtled towards Might Guy.
“It’s great to be a clan Ninja. Even before graduating, they can learn such powerful Ninjutsu,” a student couldn’t help but show an envious expression as he looked at the terrifying fireball.
He was also a Fourth Grade student, and currently, the only Ninjutsu he had mastered was the Three Body Technique taught at the academy.
“Ninjutsu isn’t that easy to learn. Even if you’re given a Ninjutsu scroll, you might not be able to learn it,” a second-generation Ninja next to him retorted.
His family wasn’t a Ninja clan, but both his parents were Ninja, and he had only mastered the Three Body Technique so far.
“This level of Fire Release is not what a student, no, not even a Genin should possess!” a Chunin teacher who knew Fire Release couldn’t help but exclaim.
The Fire Release he himself performed was only at this level.
“Yes, indeed, it just goes to show they are students of the Uchiha Clan,” another teacher agreed.
The fireball continuously slammed towards Might Guy, who directly avoided its edge and rapidly retreated sideways, quickly moving out of the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique’s attack range.
Obito quickly threw several Shuriken to restrict Might Guy’s movement, as the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique couldn’t turn corners.
But to Obito’s surprise, Might Guy actually used a Kunai to block all the Shuriken he threw, successfully retreating before the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique exploded.
“Good thing Obito’s Shuriken throwing is a bit worse than Shisui’s, otherwise I would have been injured,” Might Guy breathed heavily, feeling a bit fortunate.
When fighting Shisui, Shisui’s Shuriken throwing had caused him a lot of trouble.
Having experienced Shisui’s pressure, dealing with Obito now felt just right.
“The Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique is still too hard to hit people with. I should have used Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique,” Obito regretted a bit in his heart.
He also felt that Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique would have been better, but last time he used Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique to win first place in the Youth Ninjutsu Competition, and Obito felt that winning first place in the Grade Level Practical Exam with Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique would be more meaningful.
But there was no time for Obito to reflect. Might Guy had already seized this opportunity, exploding with Chakra in his legs and charging forward.
“Leaf Whirlwind!”
Might Guy once again delivered his most proficient kicking technique.
“Guy, your speed isn’t as fast as Kakashi’s Body Flicker Technique,” Obito couldn’t help but show a smug smile after dodging Might Guy’s attack.
He felt that Might Guy’s Taijutsu didn’t seem that difficult to deal with.
Then Obito attempted to engage Might Guy in Taijutsu combat.
Obito then realized he had thought too much; he was inferior to Might Guy in both strength and speed. Obito was quickly beaten back, only able to dodge by relying on his excellent footwork.
“Although Uchiha Obito’s Fire Release is good, Might Guy’s Taijutsu is also excellent. If this continues, Uchiha Obito will lose,” a teacher noticed Obito’s weakness.
How could he win by trying to match Might Guy in Taijutsu without properly utilizing his own strengths?
Ikeya Yu smiled without speaking. After all, both were students from his class, so it didn’t matter who won; the bonus was guaranteed.
Watching the outcome proceed in the direction he had predicted, Muzuki’s heart remained largely unmoved.
Actually, it didn’t really matter who won. Both of them had training missions anyway. Compared to the winner, he was more curious about what rewards he would receive later.
“Leaf Great Whirlwind!”
Might Guy delivered his current most powerful kick, surpassing any previous attempt.
Might Guy’s sudden burst of speed caught Obito off guard. He failed to dodge this attack and was directly kicked several meters away.
“The Fourth Grade Practical Exam (Yearly) is over. The final winner is Might Guy!” The proctor announced the complete end of the final exam.
The moment the exam ended, Muzuki’s system also broadcasted that the training mission was entering settlement.
Everyone, please try to keep up with the readings on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Next week is the last chance. Whether it fails or not depends on this time.
