Chapter 26 What to do if the teacher is too rebellious (Please read more)
by Sunflower“You’re telling me to leave, then telling me to stay. That makes things very difficult for me,” Muzuki said, looking at Asuma with a half-smile.
“Can’t you just discuss it with me? How about we both compromise? I won’t have such high demands, and then you have to listen to me during class,” Asuma suggested to Muzuki.
It wasn’t that he was unwilling to be taught; he was simply a bit rebellious and didn’t want to accept his old father’s arrangements.
“No, no, no, high demands aren’t your problem. It’s my own lack of ability; I can’t meet your demands, so I’d better leave,” Muzuki said, turning to walk away after hearing Asuma’s suggestion.
“Alright, you don’t have to listen to me. Just don’t go yet.” Asuma, seeing Muzuki about to walk out of the backyard, quickly called him back, completely exasperated with Muzuki.
“So, can we start class now?” Muzuki asked with a chuckle.
To deal with rebellious students like Asuma, one had to be even more rebellious, fighting magic with magic.
“Fine, let’s do it this way. What do you want to teach?” Asuma was at a loss for what to do.
In his imagination, he should have been the one to tell the teacher to leave, and then Muzuki would have discussed things with him, with him holding the initiative.
Although he felt indifferent, even a bit annoyed, by his identity, he had to admit that being the Hokage’s son did provide him with a lot of convenience.
Muzuki looked around and then said, “Let’s train outside; it’s not very convenient here.”
Muzuki briefly informed Biwako and then took Asuma out to train, leading him to a small forest with a river.
“Let’s first test your Chakra control ability. Try tree climbing,” Muzuki said to Asuma, pointing to a tall, sturdy tree.
“Tree climbing? That’s easy! I’ll show you.” Asuma’s eyes darted around, and he chuckled, thinking of a good idea.
He walked to the thick, tall tree and, without using Chakra, climbed to the top like a nimble monkey, using both his hands and feet.
Asuma shouted with a smug expression, “See how fast I climb this tree?”
Of course, he knew what Muzuki meant by tree climbing, but he just didn’t want to cooperate; he was doing it on purpose.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was observing how Muzuki would teach Asuma through a crystal ball, fell silent and rubbed his forehead helplessly.
Even though his nickname used to be ‘Monkey,’ he had never done anything like this. What kind of child had he fathered?
“You climb very fast; your limb strength is good.” Muzuki didn’t get angry as Asuma had imagined; instead, he praised him with a smile.
Then, Muzuki found a relatively slender tree, chopped off its branches, poured oil on it, and smiled as he looked at Asuma, saying, “That was just a warm-up. Let’s start the actual tree climbing.”
Asuma looked at the bare, slender tree, like a wooden stick, with oil dripping from it. His mouth twitched. Even if he were the best climber, he couldn’t climb such a tree with bare hands.
“It’s okay if you can’t climb it. Admitting your shortcomings is also a sign of courage,” Muzuki said leisurely.
“Who said I can’t climb it?! Don’t underestimate me!” Asuma, a nine-year-old Genin who had just graduated, couldn’t stand the provocation. He immediately imbued his feet with Chakra and steadily walked step by step to the top of the tree.
“Your control ability is quite good.” Muzuki nodded, not too surprised.
Then, Muzuki took Asuma to the river.
“Since tree climbing is not a problem, let’s try if you can walk on water,” Muzuki said, pointing to the river, continuing to test Asuma’s Chakra control ability.
After all, except for a few exceptionally talented individuals, ordinary people have limited Chakra. Improving its utilization rate is a good way to enhance strength.
“If you can stand on the water for ten minutes without falling this time, you can train whatever you want from now on.” Muzuki offered a condition to motivate Asuma.
“You said it! Don’t go back on your word!” Asuma said with a joyful expression. He was still thinking about how to deal with this annoying teacher, and he didn’t expect Muzuki to actively expose a weakness.
It was just walking on water. For other newly graduated Genin, it might be difficult, but for Asuma, it was average.
Asuma confidently gathered Chakra in his feet and walked onto the river surface, strolling leisurely. The river wasn’t large, only twenty meters wide.
“That hateful old man, his desire for control is too strong. I’ve already graduated and become a Ninja, and he still finds me a tutor,” Asuma grumbled.
He was actually looking forward to telling the Third Hokage when he got home that his tutor had agreed to let him train freely.
Suddenly, Asuma felt something was off. He looked down and found that the previously calm river surface had suddenly become turbulent.
“Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!”
Asuma looked again and realized that Muzuki was on the bank, performing a Water Release Ninjutsu, creating a Water Dragon that was moving back and forth, churning and rolling in the river, causing the water to surge and foam.
“Hey, what are you doing?!” A splash of water erupted, and Asuma almost lost control and fell into the water, unable to help but exclaim.
“I’m helping you simulate a battle scenario. In battle, the river water won’t be as calm as usual,” Muzuki said with a chuckle.
“And incidentally, I’m also practicing my Water Release. With a river and trees here, it’s a great environment for Water Release training.”
“Of course, if you, Asuma, feel you can’t do it, I can stop. After all, admitting your shortcomings is also a sign of wisdom,” Muzuki said, using the same trick again.
Asuma swallowed the words he was about to say.
He wanted to prove that he could do it, that he didn’t need a tutor or the Third Hokage’s arrangements, so he certainly couldn’t admit he couldn’t.
So Asuma concentrated fully on controlling his Chakra, to prevent himself from falling into the water.
However, Chakra control isn’t something that can be improved instantly, and the sudden waves also tested his body movement.
Asuma struggled for five minutes, but finally, he accidentally fell into the water and was instantly pulled out by Muzuki.
“It seems your Chakra control ability still needs improvement; you can’t start free training yet,” Muzuki said with a look of regret.
“If you hadn’t interfered with your Water Release, how could I have fallen into the water?” Asuma retorted, somewhat unconvinced.
“Do you expect your enemies not to use Ninjutsu to attack you during battle?” Muzuki said calmly.
“No, I want to try again!” Asuma grew angrier the more he thought about it and decided to prove himself.
Facts proved that getting anxious might not help solve a math problem, but in battle, one might indeed have a breakthrough. This time, Asuma lasted for seven minutes, just three minutes short of completing the ten-minute achievement.
After resting for a while, Asuma eagerly called Muzuki to try again. The third time, he lasted for seven and a half minutes.
Finally, Asuma successfully lasted for ten minutes as the sun was about to set.
“I did it!” Asuma shouted excitedly, then lost control of his Chakra and fell into the water, taking a big gulp of river water.
When Muzuki pulled Asuma out, Asuma’s face was still filled with excitement.
“So from now on, I can train whatever I want,” Asuma said happily, wiping the water from his face.
“Who told you that?” Muzuki looked at Asuma with a strange expression.
Asuma’s smile froze, and then he questioned, “Didn’t you say that if I lasted for ten minutes, I could train freely?”
“Yes, I did,” Muzuki nodded, then added, “But I said ‘this time,’ meaning your very first attempt. And you didn’t succeed on your first attempt, did you?”
Asuma thought back and realized it was true!
So, what exactly had he been working so hard for?
The physical exhaustion combined with the severe emotional blow almost made Asuma’s eyes roll back as he nearly fainted.
He was almost fainted by the rebellious teacher.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was secretly observing from time to time, stroked his beard and felt that Muzuki’s teaching ability was indeed formidable.
During the afternoon’s training, Asuma’s body movement and Chakra control abilities had both been exercised.
“I must retaliate tomorrow!” Asuma secretly vowed in his heart. He felt like he had been messed with all afternoon today.
