Chapter Index

After discussing for a while at the Tuanzi Shop, Obito and the others still couldn’t decide on a group gift, so they decided to ask other teachers at the Ninja Academy and Muzuki’s friends before making a final decision.

After parting ways, Obito first went home for dinner, and after eating, he returned to the streets of the Main urban area.

Actually, even before this gathering, Obito had thought of giving Muzuki something, so he already had an idea for his personal gift to Muzuki.

Although Obito didn’t know much about calligraphy, he asked. By inquiring with the bookstore owner, he learned that calligraphy brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones all had their own intricacies.

Originally, he wanted to personally make a brush for Muzuki, just like Muzuki crafted Ninja tools. However, he later found that making a brush was too difficult, and he wasn’t cut out for it, so he temporarily gave up on that idea.

He chose to make an inkstone, which was relatively simpler.

In Obito’s opinion, an ordinary inkstone was just a stone with a hole dug in it, and a more complex one simply had some carvings on the stone. He believed he could do that.

After asking many old men and Grandmas, Obito finally obtained three stones for making inkstones from an old man who loved calligraphy.

Overjoyed, Obito gave the money to the old man, then went to the bookstore to buy an inkstone, and then began to figure out how to make an inkstone at home.

Obito didn’t start immediately because he hadn’t even decided on the shape of the inkstone yet.

Obito took out a white paper and a pen, wanting to first draw the design he wanted.

Twenty minutes passed, and Obito looked at a rectangle containing a not-so-round circle and a blob of black lines next to it, his expression troubled.

The idea was good, but he couldn’t draw.

Obito felt that the Dragon-patterned Kunai Muzuki gave him was very cool, and he also wanted to put a similar dragon on the inkstone, but let alone carving it, Obito didn’t even know what he was drawing on paper.

“Damn it, drawing is so hard, it feels even harder than Ninjutsu,” Obito sighed and slumped onto the seat.

“Should I go find Rin or Kakashi for help?” Two figures subconsciously appeared in Obito’s mind.

Rin Nohara had given him paintings as birthday gifts twice, and he felt that Rin Nohara was quite good at drawing.

As for Kakashi, although he had never seen Kakashi draw, Obito had an inexplicable confidence that Kakashi definitely knew how to draw, and at a high level.

“No, how can I ask others for help with a gift I’m giving?” Obito shook his head, rejecting the idea.

For his personal gift to Muzuki, Obito still wanted to complete it by himself as much as possible. If the design was drawn by someone else, it wouldn’t be his gift alone.

At this moment, Obito suddenly had an idea: use Shadow Clone Technique to rapidly increase his drawing experience.

Memories would flow back after the Shadow Clone Technique was dispelled. If he created a few Shadow Clones to practice with him, he might still make it in time.

“If I manage the Shadow Clone’s time well, it shouldn’t be too tiring,” The more Obito thought about it, the better he thought this idea was.

He couldn’t withstand the fatigue of training with Shadow Clones, but drawing for a while should not be a big problem.

Of course, Obito knew that his idea still had a fatal flaw, which was that Shadow Clones might not do what he wanted. In battle, Shadow Clones could execute various tactics without question, but in daily life, if he told a Shadow Clone to do homework, the Shadow Clone might fight with him.

“Shadow Clone Technique!” Obito formed the hand signs and created two Shadow Clones.

Since there was a solution, he had to try it no matter what.

Just as Obito was about to persuade the Shadow Clones to practice drawing, something unexpected happened.

One Shadow Clone voluntarily walked to the table, picked up a pen, and started drawing, while the other Shadow Clone found paper and a pen and drew on the floor.

“What are you still standing there for? Aren’t you going to seize the time to practice?” the Shadow Clone on the floor said to Obito’s main body with dissatisfaction.

Obito was stunned and couldn’t help but ask, “Why aren’t you slacking off this time? You’re so proactive.”

He had prepared himself for the Shadow Clones to slack off and for him to fight alone, but the two Shadow Clones were more self-aware than ever before.

The Shadow Clone sitting in the chair looked at Obito and said, “Muzuki-sensei is so kind, of course we have to do our best to give him the best gift.”

“Instead of asking this, hurry up. There’s only one week left until the graduation exam, not much time left,” the Obito on the floor continued to urge.

Being urged to act by his own Shadow Clones was a first. With this fresh feeling, Obito quickly found paper and a pen and started drawing too.

Obito vaguely guessed the reason for the change in his Shadow Clones; it might have been caused by his own inner thoughts.

His heart strongly resisted doing homework; if it wasn’t assigned by Muzuki, he wouldn’t want to complete it at all. But drawing this time was different; this time he was doing it to give Muzuki a better gift, and his heart had no resistance to drawing at all.

That’s why the Shadow Clones when doing homework were so different from the Shadow Clones now.

“Anyway, Senju Tobirama didn’t consider this when he developed the Shadow Clone Technique,” Obito ultimately blamed the developer of the Ninjutsu.

After drawing for two and a half hours, Obito dispelled the Shadow Clones. The drawing experience from the Shadow Clones flowed into Obito’s mind, making a trace of fatigue appear on his face.

Obito sorted through his memories and found that learning with the Shadow Clone Technique wasn’t as efficient as he thought, because most of the practice experience was the same, and it didn’t achieve a triple-speed effect at all.

“It’s still better than me alone, and my strokes are more skilled,” Obito drew another picture and nodded in satisfaction.

Although it was still far from what he had in mind, it was better than the initial blob of unidentifiable black lines.

After practicing alone for another hour, Obito went to bed. Perhaps because he was very tired, Obito felt sleepy as soon as he lay down and then fell asleep.

The next morning, Obito woke up at about the usual time due to his biological clock, then washed up, ate breakfast, and went to the South Border Forest to train.

Perhaps because he practiced a bit too much before bed, now when Obito looked at the street scenery, he couldn’t help but wonder what they would look like on paper.

“Obito, good morning!” Rin Nohara greeted Obito with a smile.

Hearing Rin Nohara’s voice, the originally groggy Obito immediately snapped awake, smiled, and greeted Rin Nohara, “Rin, good morning to you too.”

“Obito, did you stay up late last night? You seemed a bit out of it just now,” Rin Nohara asked with concern.

“Let me guess, were you busy preparing a gift for Muzuki-sensei?”

Given Rin Nohara’s understanding of Obito, this was too easy to guess, because they had been discussing gifts yesterday.

“Haha, Rin, you really know me. But I didn’t stay up late, I just used Shadow Clones to speed up my learning yesterday, so I’m a little tired, but it doesn’t affect anything,” Obito chuckled twice and began to explain.

He really didn’t stay up late, because he heard that staying up late would stunt his growth, and he was a man who wanted to become Hokage, so of course he couldn’t be short.

“Mmm, don’t overwork yourself, after all, normal training isn’t easy. It wouldn’t be good if you got sick from exhaustion,” Rin Nohara reminded him with a gentle smile.

Obito patted his chest and said with a chuckle, “I’m the man who’s going to be Hokage, I know what’s important. After all, if I suffer any loss, it’s a loss for all of Konoha.”

Rin Nohara was amused by Obito’s words and covered her mouth with her right hand, chuckling softly:

“A loss for all of Konoha is a bit exaggerated, Obito, you haven’t become Hokage yet.”

“I, on the other hand, think if you waste Rin’s time any further, that’s when you’ll cause Rin a loss,” Kakashi, passing by, left this remark and walked towards the training ground without looking back.

“That annoying Kakashi,” Obito pouted, a little annoyed.

He was happily looking at Rin Nohara’s smile when Kakashi suddenly appeared.

“Indeed, we can’t waste any more time. Let’s go train and talk during our break,” Rin Nohara said with a slight smile and also walked towards the training area.

Seeing this, Obito quickly followed and walked side by side with Rin Nohara.

By the time Obito and Rin Nohara arrived, Might Guy and Shisui were already training, and Kakashi had also drawn his White Fang Short Blade, looking ready to train.

Obito walked next to Shisui and began his Armament Haki training.

Currently, Constant State Breathing Technique was the main training content, but they also didn’t neglect Armament Haki training, practicing it for two to three hours every day. The rest of the time was dedicated to Constant State Breathing Technique.

Learning Armament Haki could increase their potential, it just required more Chakra. But Armament Haki was difficult, and by the time they learned it, their Chakra would be much more than it was now.

After training, the five gathered again to discuss the gift.

“Shisui, did your Shadow Clone get any useful information?” Obito asked.

Since Shisui’s Shadow Clone still attended classes every day, asking the Ninja Academy teachers was left to Shisui. The Shadow Clone could just ask while attending school.

“No, those teachers don’t know Muzuki-sensei as well as we do,” Shisui said, shaking his head after recalling the memories that flowed back from his Shadow Clone.

They, on their side, knew that Muzuki liked egg dishes, while the Ninja Academy teachers only knew that Muzuki liked practicing calligraphy.

“Then what should we do? I only remember Minato-senpai being close to Muzuki-sensei like a friend, but Minato-senpai is on the battlefield,” Obito said thoughtfully.

“How about we all make a jumpsuit for Muzuki-sensei?” Might Guy suggested.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Shisui rejected the proposal.

“Guy, not everyone likes jumpsuits, especially green ones,” Obito couldn’t help but retort.

He couldn’t imagine what Muzuki’s face would look like in a green jumpsuit; it was too out of place.

After discussing in a circle, the five still couldn’t decide, but they agreed to finalize the gift tomorrow, otherwise, they might not have enough time.

3k, although I was very energetic today, it seems I just got angry and stayed angry. My typing speed didn’t increase, but 7k should be achievable today.
