Chapter Index

“Alright, let Ma Guojun do the shot put,” Liu Yang muttered to himself.

As long as he didn’t run into a track and field athlete specializing in shot put, Ma Guojun’s advantage in throwing the shot put was indeed greater. Just a Beast Giant Arm Span, then spin and attack!

Very few people chose to do somersaults; it was truly abstract.

While Liu Yang was talking to Jiang Nian, the rest of the class was also discussing the sports meet this Thursday.

“Hey, let’s find a chance to sneak out and play League of Legends,” Sun Zhicheng chuckled lewdly. “They probably won’t check attendance too strictly the next day, and the sports meet is followed by the weekend. It’ll be awesome.”

He wasn’t interested in sports and, in Class 3, he was the kind of person who stood out in a crowd. He liked niche hip-hop music and some niche brands that showed off his taste.

Niche, pretentious, and most likely a loudmouth who’d bail.

“Sun Zhicheng, stop just talking big. If you bail, I’ll call you ‘Dad’ for a week.” Another male student, Lin Dong, said disdainfully, “If you don’t bail, you call me ‘Dad’ for a week. Deal?”

Lin Dong was a boarding student.

He was tall and strong, and in a class like Class 3, where the average score exceeded 510, he was the best athlete among the academically strong students, dabbling in various sports.

His popularity in the class had always been high, and he was subtly the leader among the male boarding students in Class 3.

Sun Zhicheng was a day student, in the same group as Lin Dong. After grouping, it basically wouldn’t change for the entire senior year, and seat changes would also be a collective move forward.

The two were close, and their loud discussion also attracted the attention of others.

Two delicate-looking girls giggled for a while, one named Chen Yunyun, the other Wang Yuhe. Both girls were boarding students, sharing a dorm.

In a science class with more boys than girls, both of them could rank in the top five for beauty.

“Lin Dong, what events are you planning to sign up for?” Chen Yunyun, only 1.6 meters tall, looked petite and had a more outgoing personality, often playfully bickering with Lin Dong.

“The 100-meter dash, or maybe the relay race,” Lin Dong said indifferently. “Just for fun. High jump or long jump are also options, or maybe I won’t sign up for anything.”

On the other side, the Sports Committee member Liu Yang somehow overheard and shouted out.

“Lin Dong, you must sign up! Otherwise, our class definitely won’t have enough people!”

Lin Dong spread his hands, looking slightly helpless. What he was thinking was that the 800-meter and 1500-meter races were too tiring, and the 3000-meter race was humiliating. The 100-meter dash, high jump, and long jump had advantages for him.

Winning was a huge gain, losing didn’t make him lose Face, and he could shift the blame in a relay race.

“Wang Yuhe and I plan to sign up for the 4×100 relay,” Chen Yunyun said. “Yuhe plans to sign up for the long jump individually; she’s really good at long jump.”

    “Really?” Lin Dong was surprised.

“No! I’m just kidding.” Wang Yuhe pulled Chen Yunyun, she was taller, about 1.7 meters, with long legs and an introverted personality.

The four of them formed the core of a small group, with Sun Zhicheng being the only day student among them. He looked somewhat weak, which was typical for a niche guy; even his small group had to be niche.

There were also several peripheral members, most of whom were boarding students.

“What is Sun Zhicheng signing up for?” Chen Yunyun asked.

“I’m not signing up, it’s not as good as…” The niche guy was about to continue showing off but then feared Lin Dong would retort, so he changed his words. “I’ll sign up for high jump or long jump, to snipe Lin Dong.”

“You?” Lin Dong laughed. “What are you betting?”

Sun Zhicheng gave a ‘Tiger Brother’Looking back, “You little brat, don’t you know gambling is illegal? Be careful, I’ll report you to the central government.”

    “Heh, idiot.”

The class was still discussing. Lin Dong turned his head, instinctively shifting his gaze to the other side.

There were many small groups in the class, and boarding students and day students weren’t strictly separated. Plenty of them hung out together, but what caught his attention was Jiang Nian’s side.

Li Hua, Yao Beibei, and Ma Guojun had known each other since childhood, and they became even closer after being in the same class in high school. Li Hua’s father worked at the procuratorate, and Yao Beibei’s family was with the tax bureau.

Ma Guojun’s father worked at the county’s People’s Hospital.

The conditions of the three of them weren’t particularly affluent in Zhennan County, and they were insignificant in the city, but in this small class, they were quite noticeable.

Lin Dong was a small-town youth, his family ran a small business, so he also had some assets. Good grades, decent looks, good at sports, and also wealthy, logically speaking…

He didn’t know why, but he just couldn’t get along with the three of them.

Of course, Lin Dong wasn’t particularly keen on befriending them either. It was just that three new students had just joined the class, and two of them were immediately absorbed into their group.

This made Lin Dong feel a bit upset. What did it mean? Only hang out with those who had county household registration, right?

What you can’t have is the best.

Moreover, Zhang Ningzhi, who had just joined, made him somewhat interested. There were already few girls in this class, and pretty girls were even rarer; those as pretty as the class monitor were even fewer.

Living in Nanjiang Bay, Lin Dong recalled his parents had also mentioned considering buying a house in Nanjiang Bay last year. Essentially, he was her equal.

If he could have a girlfriend like Zhang Ningzhi, it would definitely give him Face to bring her out.

What? Why not pursue the class monitor?

Ha, don’t kid around. First, ask why Yu Tongjie, who has a good father, isn’t pursuing her.

He moved through the crowd and stopped near the inner circle of girls. He smiled at Zhang Ningzhi, showing what he thought was a friendly smile.

“What are you planning to sign up for?”

Zhang Ningzhi was startled when an unfamiliar person suddenly spoke to her. She instinctively looked for Yao Beibei. Seeing Yao Beibei chatting with Li Hua, she lowered her head and went to find her.

    Lin Dong stood still, “?????”

What the Hell? Did I activate stealth mode?

Zhang Ningzhi circled to the back of the line, holding her breath and expertly finding the back of Jiang Nian’s head. He was too easy to recognize, even easier than Yao Beibei, that ‘yellow-hearted’ woman.

As she got closer, Zhang Ningzhi heard an exclamation from Liu Yang, the Sports Committee member.

“3000 meters? Nian Ge is awesome!”

Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi was stunned. He actually chose to run the 3000 meters?

For a physically weak girl like her, hearing about the 800-meter physical test in PE class made her Face turn pale. Not to mention the competitive 3000-meter race, it was simply Hell within Hell.

Jiang Nian also saw Zhang Ningzhi, then patted Yao Beibei.

    “She’s looking for you.”

Zhang Ningzhi heard this and was about to weakly refute.

But then she saw the yellow-hearted woman Yao Beibei smiling broadly and pouncing to hug her, causing her to exclaim. She ultimately didn’t say it aloud, that she wasn’t just looking for her.

Suddenly hearing that Jiang Nian chose the 3000 meters, both male and female students in Class 3’s running formation turned their heads.

“Instantly chose the 3000 meters? Jiang Nian is really fierce!”

Lin Dong followed the sound and found Zhang Ningzhi standing next to Jiang Nian, feeling even more displeased.

Did I swallow an invisible Calabash Brother Six?

“Jiang Nian is signing up for the 3000 meters? Is he that good?” Wang Yuhe asked curiously.

“Indeed, much fiercer than most boys in our class,” Chen Yunyun unconsciously fanned the flames, saying to Lin Dong, “Lin Dong, you should sign up for one and try it too.”

Lin Dong was somewhat annoyed and blurted out, “Only an idiot would sign up.”
