Chapter Index

Jiang Nian also saw Yuan Zhengchuan, but didn’t make any unnecessary moves, turning around and leaving.

    Helping classmates.

This is the duty of everyone in Class Three.

Ji Jiayu saw her boyfriend walk past, and her face immediately turned pale. First, she felt guilty, and then she felt something was wrong; why should she feel guilty?

Her water bottle fell, and Jiang Nian happened to pass by and catch it for her. He also thoughtfully told her to put the bottle inside.

    What’s wrong with that?

    There’s nothing wrong with it.

What exactly was she feeling guilty about? Just because Jiang Nian was a boy?

But she was in the science class; how could she completely avoid contact with boys? She had tried her best to avoid it, but now it seemed like there was a problem.

    Morning reading.

Zhang Ningzhi secretly glanced at Jiang Nian; she was a bit bothered by that “secret” from last night.

But she didn’t want Jiang Nian to know she was bothered, and she was wondering if there was a way to find out about Jiang Nian’s past, to get a little understanding of whether he had ever been in love.

    How to ask?

“Nian, have you really never dated?”

Li Hua looked at Jiang Nian with a scrutinizing expression, a Chinese textbook in his hand.

“If you lie to a pure high school boy like me, you’ll be paying Huabei for life.”

Zhang Ningzhi secretly pursed her lips, her ears perked up. Her group leader wasn’t completely useless; occasionally, he could play an unexpected role.

“Didn’t I say that last time?” Jiang Nian turned his head, looking speechless. “I only have a little money; why would I date? I just want to keep it for myself.”

“All that ‘love this, love that’ all day, you’ll be honest when you owe Huabei.”

In the front seat, Wu Jungu, who was reciting ancient poetry, heard Jiang Nian’s words and couldn’t help but feel a pang in his heart.

He was here for morning reading, not to hang himself.

One sentence put a noose around his neck; when he was dating Yu Zhiyi, expenses occasionally did go over budget, but he still couldn’t agree with Jiang Nian’s words.

He turned, intending to say something.

But then he heard Jiang Nian say, “Don’t be in heat all day. When you date a girl who is willing to confide her original family to you, just wait to die.”

Li Hua was puzzled and scratched his head, asking,

    “Why?”

Jiang Nian turned his head and looked at him, saying,

“People with normal families, who talks about their original family all the time? Go ahead and abandon everything to save her, hero, and you’ll be silent.”

In the front seat, Wu Jungu fell silent.

He hadn’t felt it before, but now that the needle was pricking him, he realized Jiang Nian was poisonous.

Damn it, that one word, “hero,” pierced his spine.

Throughout the entire Chinese morning reading class, Wu Jungu was somewhat distracted. He was still somewhat affected by Jiang Nian, and he suddenly felt a bit lost.

Changing dorms, getting jealous, was what he was doing really worth it?

Why did he get together with Yu Zhiyi in the first place? Was it because of her figure, which was even more exaggerated than an older sister’s? It didn’t seem so; he just saw her on the street.

She was like a pitiful puppy, abandoned by the world. And he happened to have an umbrella in his hand, and after much hesitation, he walked towards her.

A hero? He hadn’t thought about it then.

After falling in love, he became less and less like himself, and less and less like a student. Now he felt that he and she seemed more like mutual shackles?

Perhaps they should break up? Anyway, they’d still separate after graduation, so it’s better to give her freedom. Let himself go and let her go; they wouldn’t meet again in the future.

Two classes passed in a flash, and Jiang Nian was terribly sleepy, still dozing off as soon as class ended.

Li Hua shook him awake and shouted,

    “Let’s go, running exercises.”

He really didn’t know who invented running exercises; he really wanted to punch them twice.

Jiang Nian got up and saw Zhang Ningzhi looking as if she wanted to say something but hesitated, which made him curious.

    “What’s wrong?”

The young girl blushed a little. “Nothing, I’m going to find Beibei to go down and do the running exercises together.”

“How strange,” Jiang Nian muttered, not paying much attention.

Li Hua walked over and exclaimed, “Huh?”

    “Nian, your zipper is open.”

“What’s wrong with you? The class monitor is right here, why are you making such a dirty joke?” Jiang Nian glared at him, but then saw Li Hua’s strange expression, and his eyelids twitched.

    Awkward.

He casually pulled it up, then rubbed it on Li Hua’s book. Li Hua, a meter away, immediately let out a sharp whistle like a pressure cooker.

Jiang Nian and Li Hua messed around for a while, and saw Li Qingrong watching them.

“What’s wrong, Class Monitor?” he asked.

Li Qingrong heard him, shifted her gaze, and lowered her head to read her book without speaking.

    Jiang Nian: “?”

Li Hua urged from the side, “Let’s go, let’s go, we’ll be doing running exercises soon.”

“Got it, zipper-watcher, you’re the most impatient.”

“You’re the damn zipper-watcher! red stone!”

Halfway down the stairs, Ji Jiayu said to her boyfriend Yuan Zhengchuan,

“I don’t want to run anymore; can you help me ask for leave later?”

If it were before, Yuan Zhengchuan might have reluctantly agreed. But after yesterday and this morning’s events, he was a bit unwilling and said in surprise,

“You can’t get leave. Old Liu said no leave for running exercises. Besides, the Sports Committee Member, Liu Yang, isn’t that easy to talk to; he definitely won’t agree.”

“Oh, just try it,” Ji Jiayu habitually pouted at her boyfriend.

However, Yuan Zhengchuan shook off her hand.

    Ji Jiayu’s expression changed.

Yuan Zhengchuan also realized he had been impulsive and quickly and subtly changed the subject.

“Liu Yang and I have a conflict, why don’t you go try?”

    Hearing this, Ji Jiayu sighed.

    “Alright.”

On the sports field, Sports Committee Member Liu Yang glanced at Ji Jiayu, and before she could finish speaking,

    “Okay, go ahead, be careful.”

Ji Jiayu’s face was full of happiness, and she said sweetly,

    “Thank you, Sports Committee Member.”

“You’re welcome, we’re all classmates.” Liu Yang scratched his head, and his eyes met Jiang Nian’s, who was passing by. “You go up slowly; I’m going to organize the running exercises first.”

“Okay,” Ji Jiayu pursed her lips.

She felt incredibly lucky these past two days; everything was going smoothly. Had the luck-transfer ritual a few days ago succeeded? Had the Mercury retrograde really dissipated!

The luck-transfer ritual was originally for the major joint exam, but she didn’t expect it to work earlier than planned.

    Yuan Zhengchuan: “.”

He felt like he had been red stone these past two days; why was he so unlucky? Why were there always boys being nice to his girlfriend, and not just one or two!

    Is it his problem?

Too sensitive, too suspicious? Being in love for too long makes a person gloomy, too long without looking up at the sky, and a new atmosphere has formed in the class?

    That’s definitely not it!

“I told you it would work, baby,” Ji Jiayu boasted, and seeing Yuan Zhengchuan’s expression was off, she didn’t bother to continue. “I’m going up to the classroom.”

    “Mm.”

Silence is the Cambridge of noon.

Even with the major joint exam approaching, the first round of review courses for the third year of high school continued as scheduled. According to the teachers of each subject, the first round would end before the New Year.

Hearing this, Jiang Nian couldn’t help but lower his head to look at his textbook.

The review plan he heard in the regular class was that the teachers of each subject unanimously agreed that the first round of review would end before the end of February of the following year.

In other words, the first round would take a whole semester plus an extra month.

In the Olympiad Class, it was tentatively scheduled to complete the first round before the end of December. In fact, by mid-December, the first round of review progress for all subjects would directly conclude.

No wonder Zhou Yuting wanted to get into the Olympiad Class so badly, even crying about it.

The second semester of the Olympiad Class was entirely prepared for detailed explanations and practice questions for the second round; that was the pace for the College Entrance Exam sprint. If she stayed in the regular class, at most she’d get into a ‘Double Non’ university.

If she still wanted to get into Luyu University, she might as well just go online.

After school at noon, Jiang Nian returned after eating.

He didn’t enter the classroom but leaned against the railing. While basking in the autumn sunlight in the corridor, he quietly enjoyed watching the couple in the classroom argue.

Listening to their suppressed angry voices, he felt a sense of peaceful serenity.

What kind of love are you even talking about, damn it.

    You punks.

Jiang Nian had just taken out his phone and was basking in the sun. Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe walked over together from the stairwell, looking at him curiously.

    “Why aren’t you going in?”

“They’re arguing inside; you two should wait a bit before going in too.”

    “Arguing?” Chen Yunyun was bewildered.

She looked at the classroom, then at Jiang Nian, and exchanged glances with Wang Yuhe.

    “How did they start arguing?”

“I don’t know, it was like this when I got here.” Jiang Nian was unusually calm, waving his hand. “It’s normal for young couples to break up and get back together, to argue and bicker.”

Chen Yunyun instinctively felt something was off. Yesterday, Jiang Nian said he had a way to make them quieter. The next day, these two couples were arguing.

They definitely wouldn’t be sticking together at noon; at least it would be a cold war.

Could it be that Jiang Nian did it? She shook her head, throwing out this absurd thought.

Jiang Nian hadn’t even interacted with Ji Jiayu and her boyfriend; how could it be related to him? Perhaps it was just good luck that they happened to be arguing.

After watching for a while, Wang Yuhe decided to go to the restroom and invited Chen Yunyun.

“I’ll wait a bit; I want to watch the show some more.” Chen Yunyun smiled and turned to Wang Yuhe, saying, “You go first; I’ll wait for you here.”

Jiang Nian: “Thanks for the invitation, ten minutes ago I…”

    Wang Yuhe: “.Who asked you!”

Hearing this, Jiang Nian said seriously,

“That’s not right, opportunities are seized. As the saying goes, where there’s a will, there’s a way; I forgot the rest. But it doesn’t matter.”

“If I don’t say it this time, how will you invite me next time?”

Wang Yuhe was speechless by him and rolled her eyes.

    “Then come.”

Jiang Nian shook his head. “No, I believe the most important thing for a person is to have their own bottom line.”

    “Then don’t ask!”

“If I don’t ask, how will you invite me?”

Chen Yunyun slapped her face and pushed Jiang Nian.

    “Stop talking.”

Wang Yuhe glared at him and walked away angrily.

Jiang Nian pointed at Wang Yuhe, laughing heartily.

“Look at her, just like an elementary school student.”

Wang Yuhe, who had walked halfway, paused, suddenly turned back, and gnashed her teeth.

    “I can hear you!”

“Hahaha, my bad, my bad, I’ll say it again after you’ve gone far away.” Jiang Nian was in a good mood. After laughing, he realized it was a bit too quiet around him.

He turned to see Chen Yunyun, who was leaning on the railing, watching him.

    “What are you looking at?”

Chen Yunyun smiled. “Nothing, I just suddenly realized you’re quite handsome.”

Jiang Nian: “You’re so good at talking, V me fifty later.”

    She: “.”

Chen Yunyun ignored him, just leaned on the railing, squinting her eyes and basking in the sun. Her gaze stretched far into the distance towards the Green Wood Ridge, which appeared gray.

The clear autumn sky was so blue it made one’s heart stir.

For some reason, whenever he was nearby, her heart felt like it was standing in the damp rainy season.

Basking in the clear autumn sky, it became scorching hot with just one exposure.
