Chapter 207 was given to me only, or did everyone else receive it?
by SunflowerSeeing this, Li Qingrong turned to Jiang Nian and said, “I’m going back.”
Jiang Nian’s gaze swept over her, and he responded, “Oh, okay.”
He was just passing by; he still had to rush home for a nap. In the afternoon, he would go to the classroom an hour early to copy the homework assigned last night.
Li Qingrong lowered her eyes for a moment, as if remembering something. On the street bathed in warm sunlight, she raised her hand and waved, her voice almost transparent, “Bye-bye.”
“Mm-hmm, bye-bye,” Jiang Nian waved back.
He watched the class monitor get into the passenger seat, still clutching the milk tea and braised pork roll. She fastened her seatbelt with one hand, sat up straight, and tilted her gaze slightly.
The moment the car started, she happened to turn her head and glance at Jiang Nian.
In the car.
Li Lanying turned to look at her younger sister and asked curiously, “Your classmate?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t you not drink milk tea? Did that boy give it to you?” Li Lanying asked casually while steering, “What does his family do?”
The car was quiet, with no one responding.
Li Lanying was already used to it and pretended to be hurt, saying, “I’m going to cry, you’re ignoring me.”
The car drove past Zhennan Street, turned at an intersection, and continued along Nanjiang Road by the river.
“There isn’t much development in our hometown, but it’s better than before,” Li Lanying sighed. “Coming back, at least the roads are better than they used to be.”
Mid-sentence, she glanced at the passenger seat.
“Let me have a sip of your milk tea, I’m a bit thirsty.”
Li Qingrong’s tone was icy, “Buy your own.”
“Hey, you—” Li Lanying didn’t think much of it and eyed the braised pork roll again. “Then give me some of your food; I just got home to pick you up and haven’t eaten a bite.”
“You ate, I saw your Moments,” Li Qingrong said coldly.
“Oh, you even look at my Moments!” Li Lanying was flattered and said happily, “You’re secretly paying attention to your sister, aren’t you? Don’t love me too much.”
Li Qingrong: “…”
“Don’t be so stingy, just let me have a bite.” Li Lanying chattered away while driving, “I used to buy these all the time when I was in school, I miss them so much.”
Li Qingrong ignored her, looking down at her phone.
She clicked into Jiang Nian’s QQ Zone. The latest post was from the August summer vacation. It was a landscape photo of a purple sunset, with only two words as the caption:
【Damn it】.
It had a kind of beauty that showed he had been to school but wasn’t highly educated.
Scrolling back, there were all sorts of daily posts: 【My mom said she’s going to throw me out the window, lol, doesn’t she know you can’t fall to your death from the third floor?】
Or some game rants: 【Late at night, accidentally walked into a mourning hall, no offense, but why are they all bots?】
Li Qingrong only scrolled back about ten posts before reaching the bottom. Then she opened the message board. There were over six hundred messages, mostly from girls.
All kinds of Happy Lantern Festival, Happy New Year’s Day, Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, Happy Birthday.
Besides that, there were other daily posts.
Sanqi: 【Treat me to milk tea.】
Jiang Nian: No money.
Some back-and-forth interactions that looked quite old. The most active period for the message board was mainly during junior high, with little activity after entering high school.
The most recent messages were completely empty, not a single one.
The car tires crunched over the underground garage ramp, and the surrounding sounds became spacious. The parking lot was brightly lit, the engine sound echoed, and the car soon parked in a spot.
Li Lanying got out of the car, took off her sunglasses. She turned around and saw Li Qingrong still carrying the braised pork roll and milk tea, which greatly puzzled her.
“If you’re not eating it, why bring it back?”
“I’m eating it.”
“Then if you’re the best sister in the world, can you share a little?”
“No.”
Lin Dong felt a bit tired; he ran into a young couple on the way back to the dorm.
Damn it.
The guy was big and burly, spinning the girl around in the street. As he walked past, the girl’s swinging leg kicked him directly into the green belt.
Damn couples, I wish their first child has three non-biological children.
Back in the dorm.
Lin Dong saw Zeng You lying on his bed reading a novel, in a seductive pose, a shame he wasn’t a courtesan from Southern Liang.
The other dorm mates weren’t there, which made him a little curious.
“Where are they?”
“Wu Jun Gu went to his aunt’s house for dinner, and Luo Zhongping went to the classroom to do homework.” Zeng You swung his legs back and forth, like a young girl.
“I don’t know about the others, they probably went out to play.”
Lin Dong hummed in acknowledgment, squatted down, and pulled a suitcase from under the bed. He had played basketball for three hours that morning, and his sweat had already dried.
He had tutoring in the afternoon, so he planned to find clothes, take a shower, and then sleep.
“Let me tell you, it’s so ridiculous. Just now, on the way back to the dorm, I ran into a couple, and they spun around and kicked me into the green belt.”
“Haha, damn, what did they say?” Zeng You asked.
“They blamed me for not watching where I was going, damn it.”
“You can tolerate that?”
“It’s okay, we’re all classmates.” Lin Dong picked up his clothes, his Face serene like a Buddha. “I already know which class that girl is in.”
Zeng You was a bit confused; what was the use of knowing that?
Revenge?
Lin Dong came out after showering, lay on his bed, and found two people, successfully getting the girl’s QQ number. He switched to a secondary account and added her as a friend. Afternoon.
Jiang Nian woke up from bed and glanced at the shoe rack opposite his door when he left.
Xu Qianqian’s shoes were at the door; she was still home, probably planning to go to school later. If he hadn’t written a single bit of his homework, he would have wanted to go later too.
He arrived at school twenty minutes later, the sun was a little scorching.
There weren’t many people in the classroom.
Luo Zhongping sat in the middle of the second row, head down, writing homework. A few scattered people sat around, some playing on their phones, some sleeping.
Not long after, Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe walked in through the door, chatting and laughing. Seeing Jiang Nian, they walked directly towards his seat.
As they got closer, Jiang Nian noticed Chen Yunyun was carrying something.
“What’s that?”
“Some clothes and food my parents brought me. I’m too lazy to go back to the dorm now, I’ll go back in the afternoon.” Chen Yunyun hesitated for a moment and asked, “Do you want any?”
“Sure, can I pick out clothes?” Jiang Nian became interested.
“Pick your head!” Chen Yunyun lowered her voice, both shy and amused. “Can you be serious? You can only pick food, otherwise forget it.”
“I want some,” Jiang Nian accepted everything.
“But they’re not store-bought snacks, they’re fish wraps my mom fried at home, and some with green peppers.” Chen Yunyun was a bit embarrassed, afraid of being disliked.
Her family wasn’t short on money, but store-bought snacks were never as good as her mom’s homemade fried ones.
“Then I love them even more! Can I take them all?” Jiang Nian exclaimed, reaching directly into the bag and picking out all the different kinds of food.
Chen Yunyun smiled, quietly breathing a sigh of relief.
Wang Yuhe, who was beside them, suddenly spoke, “Jiang Nian, if you eat a pepper wrap, do you dare not drink water?”
Jiang Nian froze and looked at her.
“What?”
“I ate one of Yunyun’s pepper wraps and didn’t drink a single drop of water.” Wang Yuhe put her hands on her hips, looking proud, staring at him intently. “Can you do it?”
Jiang Nian thought for a second, then swallowed a pepper wrap whole.
“Sweet.”
Wang Yuhe’s smile instantly vanished, but she still stared at him intently.
“You want to drink water, don’t you?”
Jiang Nian looked at Chen Yunyun and asked curiously, “Did she put sugar in it?”
Wang Yuhe’s Face fell, and she stomped off angrily.
Jiang Nian grinned. He knew Wang Yuhe wanted to compete with him to see who could eat spicier food. He actually felt the spice too, but he could tolerate it, easily defeating the elementary schooler.
Chen Yunyun rubbed her forehead, a bit speechless with these two.
“Don’t keep bullying her.”
“Lol, easily defeated.”
Chen Yunyun: “…”
She knew Jiang Nian was like this, so she turned to look for Wang Yuhe.
Jiang Nian smiled and continued to copy his homework. Feeling like he had copied most of it, he went downstairs to buy drinks. As he was buying, he decided to buy a few extra boxes of fruit milk.
On his way upstairs, he met Le Zhi on the third floor, and they chatted for a while.
“The method you gave me last time to improve my scores, I tried it, and it really works.” Le Zhi sighed. “It’s just a bit too hard; this week has exhausted me.”
“I’m a bit curious, how did you manage to stick with it back then?”
Jiang Nian recalled for a moment and said thoughtfully, “Deep Blue points, I guess.”
“Ah, I really admire you, being able to find joy in hardship.” Le Zhi rubbed his Face, his eyes bloodshot, and looked into the distance, saying, “My life is like walking on thin ice.”
“Jiang Nian, do you think I can still hold on until the Six-City Joint Exam at the end of the month?”
“Keep it up.” He had nothing else to say. “I know you’re tired, but don’t be.”
Le Zhi: “…”
“By the way, I saw your scores from the last exam.” Le Zhi asked curiously, “Your biology score went up by twenty points after the class promotion, how did you do that?”
“Oh, that? The grade level organized a gifted student program, didn’t they?” Jiang Nian raised an eyebrow. “If it weren’t for our biology teacher picking me, I’d still be at passing level.”
“Of course, passing isn’t bad either. But eighty points, for me, would be even more expansive.”
Le Zhi fell silent. He had originally wanted to vent his frustrations, but now he felt even more disheartened.
However, after chatting with Jiang Nian for a while, his Dao Heart did indeed become a bit tougher. At least he had a goal now, no longer just for Face, but also wanting to prove something.
Half an hour later, as class approached, people in the class gradually arrived at the classroom.
Zhang Ningzhi entered the classroom and found a box of fruit milk on her desk. It was the classic skin return, and she couldn’t help but recall the scene from the first exam.
She walked past Jiang Nian’s seat and asked curiously, “Did you buy this?”
“Yeah.”
Zhang Ningzhi was about to say something when she turned around and saw a box on the class monitor’s desk. She paused, her gaze shifting, and found that Li Hua also had one on his desk.
For a moment, she felt a little depressed.
So, this wasn’t just for her; others had it too. Hmph, she knew it, she only got what others left over.
Jiang Nian was still copying homework, and only looked up after a while.
Just then, the class bell rang, and Li Hua rushed into the classroom. He suddenly noticed a box of milk on his seat and was overjoyed, then turned to see Ma Guojun had one too.
He guessed it was from Jiang Nian, and was overjoyed at the freebie.
“God bless you!”
Jiang Nian heard this and was about to say something cheeky, but his peripheral vision caught sight of Zhang Ningzhi.
The latter looked gloomy, not knowing what was wrong.
