Chapter Index

    “No, there’s no limit.”

Hearing that, Zhang Ningzhi breathed a sigh of relief.

    “That’s good.”

After speaking, she frowned again, her small face stern as she warned Jiang Nian.

“The chicks are ugly, you’re not allowed to use my name to raise them!”

“What if it’s a rabbit?” Jiang Nian asked.

This question stumped Zhang Ningzhi for a moment. She thought for a bit.

    “Okay.”

People like Zhang Ningzhi are the easiest to coax; just praise her.

“Actually, bunnies aren’t that cute. They’re just a little bit less cute than you.”

“Really?” Zhang Ningzhi indeed brightened up, her eyes curving into crescents. “Then did you raise bunnies?”

    “I raised pigs.”

Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi’s face immediately fell, turning from sunny to cloudy.

“If you dare to use my name, you’re finished!”

    “I didn’t use yours.”

Li Hua, standing nearby, couldn’t help but ask curiously.

    “Whose did you use?”

“Hey, why do you care so much? Anyway, I didn’t use yours.”

Actually, Jiang Nian had used Yu Tongjie’s name, to remind himself. This was the young master’s world, and he needed to work harder.

    During the long break.

Before the broadcast for the run-through began, Cai Xiaoqing went to the podium to talk about collecting class fees.

“To make a long story short, to prepare for the class’s New Year’s Day party, we need to collect class fees. Everyone needs to pay twenty-one yuan.” Hearing “twenty,” the class breathed a sigh of relief.

If it were a hundred, it would be a bit hard to bear. Some people’s pocket money was given weekly, and by Sunday, it was gone online.

“Twenty is fine, I still have some change left.”

“This month, after food expenses, I only have fifty yuan left. Taking twenty out of that, just kill me now.”

The registered impoverished students in the class didn’t need to pay. Cai Xiaoqing just checked their names off the list and would ask Old Liu for it later.

“Zhizhi, pay for me, I’m so, so poor,” Jiang Nian said awkwardly, “I can only beg everywhere to survive.”

Zhang Ningzhi glanced at him, then turned her head away.

    “Hmph, depends on my mood!”

Hearing that, Jiang Nian thought, “If it depends on her mood, then it’s definitely settled.” So, with a whoop, he unscrewed his thermos and slurped his hot water. Cai Xiaoqing was indeed brief; she said a few words and stepped down when there were no objections.

“All expenses will be publicly disclosed.”

Next, the cultural and artistic committee member went on stage.

Dong Que was a small girl who sang quite well. She was usually quite outgoing, and her nickname was Little Nightingale.

However, Jiang Nian always misheard it as ‘Pechoin’, a result of mishearing.

She was wearing a pink down jacket with beige trousers. She looked youthful and a little trendy.

    A typical trendsetter.

“Everyone is welcome to sign up enthusiastically. Each group must put on one performance, okay? No all-group choruses are allowed; there’s a limit.”

As her sweet voice fell, everyone didn’t take it seriously.

“Leader, what performance should we do?”

    “A group chorus.”

    “Let’s sing ‘Fruit Warriors’ or’Seer’.”

“Didn’t she say no group choruses?”

“Those rules are for others to hear. We’ll just do a group chorus. It’s not about what she wants, but about what we have.”

    “Wuhu! Dark Rose!”

At the back of the running formation.

Xu Shuang expressionlessly watched her silly younger brother hold up cards, weaving through the crowd, showing off, and shouting random things.

She couldn’t help but sigh in her heart, “He’s hopeless, he’s hopeless.”

She retracted her gaze, then couldn’t help but recall yesterday’s scene. She still couldn’t figure out how that person had drawn the card.

Top students have a strange quirk: they want to know the answer.

Things they’re not interested in don’t matter, but once they start thinking about something, it’s like an obsessive-compulsive disorder kicking in, making them want to know the answer.

Last night, she hadn’t found any useful information even with a search engine.

Now that she was relaxed, her mind unconsciously started to deconstruct, reverse-engineer, and brainstorm, then verify. However, it was all useless.

    It all failed.

Zhennan Middle School’s senior year only had four ‘zero classes’. The science ‘zero class’ was located behind the four classes, bordering the Olympiad Class Three.

School leaders had once had opinions about this.

The liberal arts ‘zero class’ leading the run lacked Yang Qi, which was considered a bad omen. It would be better to let the science ‘zero class’ be the head of the Dragon for a good omen.

Of course, the suggestion was not adopted.

However, in the Olympiad level running team, the science classes did indeed lead, which also drew resentment from the ‘zero class’ homeroom teacher.

He would grumble darkly, “Why can’t it be?”

Xu Shuang stood in the girls’ team. The ‘zero class’ didn’t have many people overall. Even carrying the class flag, from a distance, it looked like half a class.

She turned her head and easily saw Jiang Nian behind her.

“How exactly did you do it?”

    “What?”

Hearing this, Xu Shuang glanced at the girl next to her and slowly shook her head.

    “Nothing.”

“Oh, okay.” The girl couldn’t help but look at Xu Shuang more closely, admiring her fair skin. She couldn’t help but feel a little envious.

She was beautiful, had a good family background, and excellent grades. She was just a bit cold, but at least she was easy to get along with usually.

If she knew that Xu Shuang had just been looking at a boy, even if it wouldn’t make her jaw drop, it would at least leave her dumbfounded.

    It was too unusual.

Xu Shuang spent most of her time disciplining her monkey-like younger brother. She had never accepted advances from boys, let alone paid attention to anyone.

“In the middle!! At the back!!”

The leader’s emotions were unstable again, a very abstract roar. It came over the broadcast like thunder, echoing throughout the entire sports field.

“What kind of running is this? Run an extra lap. I’ll say when to stop! When you run in formation, then you stop!”

Hearing this, curses of “Idiot!” immediately filled the Class Three ranks.

    “He’s dead, is he sick!”

“Damn it, it’s so hot! This is so stupid. Run your mom! I knew I shouldn’t have come down today, damn it!”

“No way, what’s the leader going crazy about now?”

“Who knows, maybe he got cheated on this morning?” Lin Dong said, panting, “Don’t let me find out his daughter’s QQ number!”

“red stone, I’m not running anymore!” Li Hua cursed, but his legs didn’t stop. “What’s he going crazy about? I still need to buy water!”

The big Ma Guojun was also almost done, he mocked.

    “I’ll stop when you stop.”

“I’ll stop when Jiang Nian…” Li Hua was about to say that, but he turned his head, “Holy crap, where’s that damned Jiang Nian?”

“He ran out when the leader was shouting,” Tao Ran pointed the way like an Immortal. “He should be sitting over there now.”

“Awesome, I wish I had gone too.”

Li Hua was dumbfounded, unable to face Ma Guojun’s gaze. He simply lowered his head and silently ran laps, no longer able to act arrogant.

“Why aren’t you barking anymore?” Ma Guojun asked.

    “red stone!”

Most of the people in Class Three were quite obedient. There weren’t many as bold as Jiang Nian; they were all dutifully running laps.

After one more lap, their resentment was almost tangible.

“Damn it, why hasn’t he called a stop yet?”

“Holy crap, we’ve run four laps!”

When Xu Shuang heard they had to run an extra lap, she immediately stopped. At the edge of the track, she casually took a couple of steps.

She looked back and saw a few people also running out.

Originally, she planned to walk directly out of the sports field, but her sharp eyes caught sight of a familiar figure, so she went against the flow to greet him.

    “You came out too?”

    “Yep.”

The leader was already criticizing those who had stopped, his voice extremely angry.

“Some people actually stopped. Are you unwilling to even run one lap seriously? It’s because of people like you that everyone has to run extra laps.”

Jiang Nian wasn’t flustered at all, thinking, “Go to hell.”

Stop my ass, I’m just leaving.

Xu Shuang saw Jiang Nian walk towards the sports field exit without hesitation, and she didn’t hesitate long either, directly following him.

    “I’m not feeling well, I can’t run.”

“Mhm.” Jiang Nian turned his head, not knowing why she was explaining to him, and after a few seconds of stunned, said, “I’m quite healthy.”

Now, it was Xu Shuang’s turn to be embarrassed.

“Then… there’s no need to run.”

“Indeed.” Jiang Nian didn’t waste words either, walking along the edge of the track towards the exit. “I’ve never even seen him.”

    “Huh?” Xu Shuang looked up.

“I mean that leader, I’ve never seen him,” Jiang Nian said without looking back. “What a piece of crap, suddenly started giving orders.”

Hearing that, Xu Shuang pursed her lips.

    “He’s the vice principal.”

The noise on the sports field was too loud, and Jiang Nian, who was ahead, apparently didn’t hear her. Xu Shuang thought for a moment, then quickened her pace a few steps.

The two were just going up the stairs when she moved closer and said loudly.

    “That’s the vice principal.”
