Chapter Index

A single pack of snowflake crisps can’t make it rain; there aren’t enough.

However, Jiang Nian bought two packs directly, combined them, and scattered them all over Zhang Ningzhi’s desk.

Whether she eats them or not is another matter.

Zhang Ningzhi had been diligently reading aloud for a whole class when this sudden surprise came, and she was quite pleased.

    “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Where’s my drink?” Jiang Nian didn’t plan to sit down; he still had things to do. “Don’t forget your daily drink, okay?”

Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi was immediately puzzled.

“Didn’t the group leader treat our whole group to drinks this week?”

“That’s his business; I want mine too.” Jiang Nian said righteously, without batting an eye. “I just love to drink yours. So, are you giving it or not?”

    “No!”

    Jiang Nian chuckled, exclaiming, “Alright!”

    “Self-service, is it?”

    “No!” Zhang Ningzhi pouted.

Li Hua received two pickled pepper Phoenix Claws and a chicken drumstick, and his face was beaming.

“How can I not miss it, the convenience store we rushed to after class. My proudest belief, my favorite decarbonized formaldehyde, kids, don’t touch it.”

Watching Li Hua spout bad jokes, Huang Fang asked curiously.

    “What is decarbonized formaldehyde?”

    “Water.”

    Huang Fang: “.”

Jiang Nian left after distributing the benefits to his group members and found Duan Hongtao. After relaying the message, the rest was none of his business.

This person was Lin Dong’s former roommate and Yang Qiming’s current roommate.

This was also an annoying person, with abstract behavior starting from zero frames.

But this annoying person, with a name identical to a leader’s, sat quite far from Jiang Nian. They usually didn’t chat, so Jiang Nian didn’t pay him much attention.

Midway through the first class, the three arrived in the classroom together.

Ms. Xi was teaching and glanced at the three.

    “Where did you go?”

Yang Qiming stammered, “We were locked in the dorm.”

Ms. Xi didn’t dwell on it and waved her hand.

    “Go back to your seats.”

After they sat down, Zhou Yuting was a bit surprised and turned to look at Yang Qiming.

“You’re in such a good mood this morning, and you even took a shower?”

Yang Qiming’s expression was awkward, and he perfunctorily responded.

    “Yeah.”

    Two morning classes passed quietly.

During the morning run, the weather suddenly changed, and it started to rain, with the temperature dropping sharply. The grade group could only temporarily dismiss the running team, and a group of people returned to the classroom in the rain.

Bang! The door was slammed open.

“Damn, damn, why did it suddenly rain!” Ma Guojun’s massive figure crashed through the door, walked to his desk, and took out his glasses case, preparing to wipe his glasses.

He opened it to find it empty.

    “Li Hua, you bastard!”

He turned and walked back, finding the square “tofu block” on Li Hua’s desk. The soft glasses cloth had been folded into a quilt.

“What a red stone, this idiot.”

Ma Guojun cursed and wiped his glasses, as more people poured into the classroom from outside.

    “Why aren’t they here yet?”

Lin Dong walked in, shaking his school uniform, and yelled from the podium.

“A heavy rain ruined my sports dream! There’s no shortcut to success, the Dao is different—oh my god, there are even couples sharing an umbrella!”

“Where?” Jiang Nian, wiping his wet hair, leaned by the window. “It’s true, sharing the same umbrella, how indecent.”

“The rain falls all night!! My love!” Li Hua slid into the classroom and also leaned by the window to watch the excitement, with a vast misty rain blowing in.

“Ptooey! Ptooey!! Damn, it all blew into my mouth!”

    “You rascal, blow mine.”

The misty rain outside the window instantly turned into a downpour, and strong winds poured in through the windows. Half the classroom’s test papers were blown up, causing a huge gasp of surprise!

It was midday, and the classroom lights weren’t on.

    “Ah!!! My test papers!”

    “Close the windows quickly!!”

    “Damn, what a heavy rain!”

Everyone seemed very excited, perhaps because they had run half a lap during the morning exercise. Or perhaps because of the long-unseen heavy rain, they were all speaking loudly.

“Speaking of rain, it reminds me of an anime,” Tao Ran suddenly said. “It’s about being reincarnated in another world and becoming a monster girl doctor.”

    “Study monitor, watch less porn.”

“Crude! I have no interest in pornography!” Tao Ran smoothed his hair and turned to glance at the ‘primitives’ yelling wildly by the window.

“Is that so?” Lin Dong turned back, fishing with a straight hook. “I have a monster girl appreciation guide, with all sorts of races.”

Tao Ran froze, taking off his glasses.

    “But seriously.”

Jiang Nian looked at the young couple downstairs and couldn’t help but ask.

“Why don’t you ask them what they’re doing?”

Li Hua immediately retorted, “red stone, how do I ask?”

“Just ask like this, listen.” Jiang Nian suddenly gathered strength and shouted downstairs, “I’m Li Hua, are you two a couple?”

    “Damn! Damn!!”

The boys by the window immediately pulled their heads back, all cursing.

Li Hua even directly activated the neck-choking technique, continuously shouting “red stone, red stone.”

    “Jiang Nian, you’re really shameless!”

The class burst into laughter, while another group of people picked up test papers. With a book holding down the papers, everyone in the dim classroom was laughing.

They didn’t know why they were laughing, soaked like wet chickens.

The wind was free, and the rain was free, and they knew they would be free later. The monotonous life of senior year was broken by a rain, which was also freedom.

Jiang Nian returned to his seat in the back row and glanced at Zhang Ningzhi.

    “Are you wet?”

“No, we left earlier.” Zhang Ningzhi shook her head, showing a slight smile. “Only a little bit, on my sleeve.”

“I see. Then take my jacket to cover yourself, so you don’t catch a cold later.” Jiang Nian took off his school uniform jacket and threw it to her, as if it were a trivial matter.

“Won’t you be cold?” Zhang Ningzhi held the jacket, which still had some warmth.

“No, if I get cold, I’ll just take Li Hua’s clothes.” Jiang Nian didn’t care, and before leaving, he even specifically lifted Zhang Ningzhi’s thermos cup.

Zhang Ningzhi only felt he was thoughtful, but her move didn’t last ten seconds.

She turned her head and found him chatting with Chen Yunyun and her friends, and she immediately felt annoyed again.

However, people often entered and exited through the back door, so it was indeed a bit cold.

Zhang Ningzhi rolled up her wet sleeve and wrapped it with a few pieces of paper.

Only when she no longer felt the damp cold did she put on Jiang Nian’s school uniform jacket.

Zhennan Middle School’s school uniform quality was quite good; it wasn’t a piece of rags. On the contrary, it had a nice texture, at least meeting the requirements for warmth and breathability.

When she put it on, she could still feel the residual warmth.

Zhang Ningzhi couldn’t help but lie on her desk, using the cool cover of her revision book to cool her slightly flushed cheeks, thinking, are boys naturally warmer?

The thread of what was originally friendship became even more solid. In the stormy midday, the dim classroom became even more intricate.

Zhang Ningzhi tightened the corners of her mouth, her thoughts once again complicated.

Class hadn’t started yet. Jiang Nian sat in Lin Dong’s seat, and the two were playing Jenga.

Chen Yunyun and Wang Yuhe in the front row had both turned around, four people in three seats, with chatter and laughter filling the air.

This caused Sun Zhicheng nearby to glance over slightly.

He looked up at the “clique,” thinking that a few months ago, everything wasn’t like this, and the one chatting and laughing there should have been him!

    Someone had stolen his place!

One day, he would reclaim it with his true abilities. Let everyone who looked down on him… Brother Dong too, a pure traitor.

Jiang Nian suddenly said, “I have a question I’ve always wanted to ask you.”

Hearing this, Chen Yunyun turned her head and looked at him.

    “What question?”

“It’s like this: today you wash your hair on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.” Jiang Nian said with a serious expression, “So I want to ask, what about Sunday? To wash or not to wash?”

Chen Yunyun was a bit speechless but still responded to him.

    “It depends on the situation.”

    “Like what?”

“It depends on whether I stay in the dorm all afternoon, whether my hair is oily on Sunday, or if I sweated during a run,” Chen Yunyun said after a moment of thought.

“Actually, it also depends on the situation. For example, if I get wet today, no matter what day it is, I’ll wash my hair. Why do you ask?”

Jiang Nian was a bit shy, “When you go back to the classroom at noon, help me bring a meal from the dorm cafeteria.”

    Chen Yunyun: “.”

She knew this person was full of mischief, but it was hard to say if she could even go back to the classroom at noon, as many people would be getting hot water due to the rain.

She thought about it and still agreed.

    “Okay.”
