Chapter Index

Zhang Ningzhi immediately pressed down on the note with her elbow and sat up straight.

She glanced around with her peripheral vision, and only after confirming it was safe did she quietly unfold the note.

“I’m going to sleep for a bit. Call me if anything happens.”

After reading it, Zhang Ningzhi frowned. With an indignant expression, she wrote a ‘no’ on the paper and then quietly threw the note back to Jiang Nian.

Soon, the note rolled back again.

The ‘no’ she had written was followed by three words added in red by someone, turning it into:

    “Don’t worry.”

Below it was someone’s reply, “Thanks orz.”

    What did ‘orz’ mean?

At first, Zhang Ningzhi deduced it was an abbreviation for herself based on the context. But on second thought, that wasn’t right; she should be ‘znz,’ and even if it was a code name ‘Zhizhi,’ it should be ‘3z.’

    So, what did ‘or’ mean?

    Or ‘z’?

It made no sense at all.

Unconsciously, Zhang Ningzhi’s mind was entirely focused on deciphering it. But after thinking for a long time, she still had no clue and had to ask the original sender.

She patted Jiang Nian, wrote ‘orz’ on his book, and quietly asked him,

    “What does this mean?”

Seeing this, Jiang Nian glanced at the podium before answering,

“It means bowing down in thanks.”

Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi was momentarily stunned, then looked closely.

Indeed, ‘orz’ looked like a small figure bowing down in a deep kowtow.

At first glance, it even looked quite like Jiang Nian.

Zhang Ningzhi clenched her fists, forcefully suppressing the urge for her apple cheeks to rise. With a stern face, she glared at him and said,

    “Boring.”

Jiang Nian was unfazed by this.

He thought to himself, ‘If it were truly boring, you wouldn’t have been guessing for so long. Just wait until I draw some indecent letter symbols for you, then you’ll behave.’

He had seen it in a novel; the author, to bypass censorship, used letter figures to enact spring nights, extraordinarily lifelike.

Perhaps some people would get excited and hum at the letters.

Li Hua, sitting nearby, was not sleepy during the Chinese class, but extremely distressed. He felt as if he was wasting the most crucial forty-five minutes of his life, and afterward, he would no longer feel love.

He turned his head, looking left and right, and caught sight of the ‘orz’ in Jiang Nian’s book.

    “Who are you bowing to?”

Hearing this, Jiang Nian glanced at him and said,

    “Just wrote it randomly.”

“Tsk tsk, you can’t just use letters willy-nilly,” Li Hua shook his head and sighed in a low voice, “According to unofficial history, when Hua Tuo was scraping the bone to heal Guan Yu’s arm, he asked Guan Yu,”

“‘General, do you know who killed my son, Hua Xiong?’ Guan Yu broke out in a cold sweat and could only tell the truth, ‘He was killed by my ‘win9.'”

Li Hua wrote the term ‘win9’ on Jiang Nian’s book, wiggled his eyebrows, and said,

“Cutting down Hua Xiong with warmed wine, isn’t that cool?”

Jiang Nian was speechless and replied with ‘idiot.’

On the podium, Old Liu was lecturing passionately and noticed someone sleeping below. So, he simply walked around the classroom, holding his book, while still lecturing.

Now Jiang Nian couldn’t sleep; he had to wait for Old Liu to finish his rounds from the third group.

Out of boredom, he pulled Li Hua over and told him an even wilder historical tale.

“It is said that after Sun Ce died, Sun Quan and Da Qiao had an affair. During their intimate moments, Da Qiao would always call out the wrong names, sometimes ‘Bofu,’ sometimes ‘Zhongmou,’ which led to the idiom ‘not distinguishing between Bofu and Zhongmou.'”

Li Hua was stunned, and after a long pause, he said, “Damn.”

“Where the hell did you read that?”

“Story Club.” Jiang Nian propped his head up, “I’ve also read stories about Dong Zhuo testing his confidants’ loyalty with Diao Chan, and Optimus Prime selling hooks on Cybertron before he became a leader.”

“Selling hooks?” Li Hua murmured, then after a moment, he reacted, “Holy crap, real hooks? What kind of Cybertron Liu Bei! Restoring Cybertron, huh?”

As they spoke, Old Liu had already finished his rounds from the back row.

    The two immediately fell silent.

After a few minutes, Jiang Nian fell asleep directly, sleeping for about ten minutes.

Feeling the pleasure of sleep, he directly activated a ‘clear-headed’ cheat.

Li Hua suddenly felt Jiang Nian stirring beside him, and when he turned his head, he was stunned.

    “Weren’t you sleeping?”

“Oh, I woke up.” Jiang Nian calmly pulled out his comprehensive science test paper, folded it, and prepared to do it slowly, “Don’t make a fuss, listen to your class.”

One class passed, and everyone in the entire class was slumped over.

The next two comprehensive science classes drove people even crazier, with about ten people standing at the back listening to the lecture.

Suddenly, the seats in the classroom seemed empty. In the last class, Li Hua and Ma Guojun also stood at the back. Ma Guojun was genuinely sleepy and stood there to listen carefully. Li Hua was purely there for chatting.

Jiang Nian mostly ignored him while doing his problems, which made Li Hua feel stifled and uncomfortable. Others only saw him wriggling, but no one saw his unparalleled talent.

Perhaps only by becoming an OP…

The afternoon passed, and after school, Jiang Nian was about to go eat.

So far, he still maintained his habit of being a lone wolf in the cafeteria. Unless he had a sudden whim or had made plans with someone, he usually went to eat alone.

Did anyone ask him to go together? Yes, but the timing didn’t match, and he was too lazy to follow.

Jiang Nian was about to go ‘hunt’ in the cafeteria, pondering which side of the cafeteria to favor.

His peripheral vision caught Zhang Ningzhi still at her seat doing homework, and he couldn’t help but ask,

“Why aren’t you going to eat?”

    “I’ll go in a bit.”

    “Hmm, who is ‘a bit’?”

Hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi looked up helplessly, somewhat speechless, and said,

“I’ll go eat five minutes from now.”

“Oh, okay.” Jiang Nian decided to eat outside the school. After a few steps, he turned back to look at her, “What do you want to drink tonight? My treat.”

    “Fruit pulp milk,” she said.

    “Mm.”

Jiang Nian turned and walked out of the classroom. He liked people who spoke clearly.

If Zhang Ningzhi had thrown out a ‘whatever,’ he would truly explode; where would he find ‘whatever’?

Evening, outside the West Gate of the school.

The dim street was filled with honking, and it seemed to be blocked ahead.

The streets in this area were relatively narrow, and there was also a short pedestrian street nearby. This led to many people setting up stalls to sell snacks, often causing traffic jams in the evening.

Tail lights glowed red, and crowds were dense.

Zhang Ningzhi stopped, panting, and looked down at her watch.

There were still fifteen minutes until evening self-study, and the West Gate was right in front of her. She finally let out a sigh of relief.

She had eaten nearby but almost didn’t make it to evening self-study.

Just as Zhang Ningzhi was about to walk forward, someone suddenly called her name.

She turned around and found it was a boy from her previous class.

Actually, Zhang Ningzhi wasn’t very familiar with him; she only remembered his name.

She vaguely knew he had good grades, but only good grades in a parallel class.

Because of the competitive relationship for class promotion, she had a slightly deeper impression of the boy. They had little interaction in class back then and barely spoke.

Now, suddenly being called by him, Zhang Ningzhi was a bit bewildered, unsure of his situation.

Watching the boy approach, Zhang Ningzhi was worried about being late, but out of basic politeness, she still waited for him to come over.

“Oh, it’s you. Is something wrong?”

The boy had a rather delicate appearance and an average build for his age.

He smiled at Zhang Ningzhi, but didn’t dare to look her in the eyes, and half-jokingly said,

    “You still remember me?”

“Is something wrong?” Zhang Ningzhi didn’t really want to chat; mainly, they had no common ground. She said seriously, “Evening self-study is about to start, and I’m going to be late.”

“Nothing, I just saw you, long time no see.” The boy clearly didn’t mind, and once he started talking, he continued, “Let’s walk together. I saw your last joint exam score.”

“Over 630 is too high, how did you score that?”

“Teach me sometime, we’re old classmates, you wouldn’t keep it a secret, would you? I actually admire you a lot; after joining the Olympiad class, you’ve been scoring higher and higher.”

“I’m not as good; I only scored over 530 on the last joint exam, a hundred points less than you.”

“Originally, I also had a chance to go to the Olympiad class, but I didn’t beat you back then, purely due to being inferior. I lost to you in the first mock exam, and there were too few spots in the second big joint exam, so I didn’t get one.”

“By the way, you’re in Olympiad Class 3, right?”

Facing the boy’s incessant chatter, Zhang Ningzhi appeared somewhat stiff. She wasn’t good at talking to strangers, let alone former classmates.

“Y-yes.” Zhang Ningzhi only wanted to get to the teaching building quickly so she could use the excuse of going to the restroom to shake him off, “I’m going to be late.”

“Oh, okay, then let’s walk faster.” The boy said, “By the way, can you accept my friend request?”

Zhang Ningzhi froze, unsure how to respond.

Suddenly, a beautiful hand reached out from the crowd. With a’snap,’ it landed on her wrist and gently pulled.

    And also.
