Chapter Index

At the back door of the classroom, a group of students gathered there.

Some were giggling, wanting to see what their parents were like in class.

Others looked nervous, afraid their parents might rummage through their desks and expose secrets.

Without exception, all of them had parents attending the meeting and had specifically come to spy on their elders.

“Don’t listen to what you shouldn’t listen to, don’t ask what you shouldn’t ask.”

Chen Yunyun squeezed among them, nervously watching her mother who was sitting in her seat.

Yunmu Town was some distance from the county seat, and her parents had driven all the way.

Her father was wandering downstairs, while her mother was sitting calmly in the classroom.

Thinking of her restless father, Chen Yunyun couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.

She hoped he would behave and not do anything shameful at school.

    Suddenly, her shoulder was tapped.

    “Did your parents come?”

Chen Yunyun’s body tensed subconsciously, then relaxed.

    “You scared me.”

Jiang Nian felt a bit bewildered; he just tapped her shoulder, did he hit her pulse point or something?

Female heroes are too rare, let me see your crest.

“Why do you look so guilty?”

“Who, who looks guilty!” Chen Yunyun was indeed a little guilty, but not of stealing; she was just a bit nervous, wondering if she should introduce him later.

Good friend? She had many friends, her best friend was Wang Yuhe.

    So what was Jiang Nian?

“Let me see, both your mom and dad came?” Jiang Nian asked curiously, standing on tiptoe to look inside. “Your mom is so young, Auntie must have had an early romance.”

Being young is the highest compliment for a parent; if exaggerated, adding “Auntie looks under thirty” would be a ticket to jail for the old father.

Reborn, the old father is the Urban Dragon King.

Damn, why is it the Shogi Dragon King?

“Bah! Don’t talk nonsense.” Chen Yunyun blushed a little.

In a parent-teacher meeting setting, the term “early romance” was taboo.

Just hearing it made her shiver, and Chen Yunyun was now feeling a bit guilty.

She hadn’t had an early romance, but she was thinking about it.

“My parents did marry relatively early, but it was legal in that era.

My grandparents married even earlier, but my cousins from my uncles’ side didn’t study as well as I did.”

“Cool, a Family Legacy, that’s what it is.” Jiang Nian casually brushed it off.

Chatting with Chen Yunyun was quite interesting, pleasing to the eye for one thing.

Another point was that Chen Yunyun had almost no abstract talents; she was too normal.

In a basket class like Class Three, Jiang Nian liked to chat with normal people.

    It felt great.

Chen Yunyun couldn’t deny it, and was even pondering if early romance truly had a hereditary aspect.

    “Your parents really aren’t coming?”

“Yeah, completely free-range.” Jiang Nian said indifferently, “I don’t want them to come either; schools always like to put on some awkward ‘touching education’ stuff.”

Hearing this, Chen Yunyun immediately remembered the letter she had written to her parents last night.

“You’re talking about that Materials, right? I wrote it too.”

“What did you write?” he asked curiously.

    “Won’t tell you.”

“Alright, it’s normal for people to have secrets, I understand.” Jiang Nian said seriously, “I’ll go in later and refill your mom’s tea, then tell her that piece of paper needs to be handed in.”

“Ah!!!” Chen Yunyun was almost driven mad by him, exclaiming, “You, how can you be like that!”

It’s hard for a person to be so despicable.

Jiang Nian was hard to say.

    Basketball court.

The earthy yellow basketball arced through the morning light, drawing a parabola in the air.

With a bang, it hit the rim and bounced out.

Sun Zhicheng clicked his tongue, his expression outwardly calm.

    “Missed.”

Lin Dong scratched his head, not quite understanding why Sun Zhicheng played basketball like he was in an idol drama.

He had been playing for over two hours, and his underwear was soaked with sweat.

He looked around, thinking no one was frequenting this corner.

“Ah Cheng, let’s take a break.”

“No, you take a break.” Sun Zhicheng stood proudly, his palm turned up, making a fist, and said faintly, “I’m still far from my limit; I want to test myself.”

“OJBK, Sakuragi Cheng.” Lin Dong left.

He didn’t know what had stimulated Sun Zhicheng, but it didn’t stop him from exercising.

He had just gotten a sum of money and was afraid of earning it but not living to spend it.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man walked over.

    “Young man, can I join?”

Lin Dong sized up the middle-aged man, who didn’t look old.

He seemed quite pleasant at first glance, so Lin Dong didn’t refuse.

    “Sure, I’m not playing anymore.”

Because the senior year had a parent-teacher meeting in the morning, all basketball courts near the teaching building were prohibited for playing basketball.

Anyone playing there would be driven away by security guards.

The court Lin Dong was playing on was in a corner, near the faculty and staff apartments, thus spared.

“Thank you.” The middle-aged man politely thanked him, then joined the court, playing casually with Sun Zhicheng, dribbling a bit then shooting at the hoop.

Sun Zhicheng was expressionless, completely immersed in his own world.

He had played basketball hard for two hours against the morning light, sweating profusely.

This feeling of fulfillment captivated him, and his perspective broadened with it.

He had recently been studying “The Dao of the Wolf” and had gained much.

Wolves understand patience; in loneliness and solitude, one needs to learn patience.

Always honing oneself, conserving energy, waiting for a full eruption.

After a few rounds of shooting, he felt he had grown.

The middle-aged man also finished warming up and took off his jacket.

After a moment of hesitation, he also imitated these younger generations, hanging it on the basketball hoop, placing his lighter and cigarettes there.

    “Young man, let’s play a one-on-one.”

Hearing this, Sun Zhicheng paused, then quickly realized the middle-aged man meant a one-on-one.

He smiled; an opportunity to crush a weaker opponent had arrived.

    Bang!!

A big block directly swatted away the middle-aged man’s layup.

    “Good shot!” Sun Zhicheng shouted.

He was extremely serious; there was a saying in the Dao of the Wolf: do everything with all your might.

The more ruthless and cold-blooded you are, the more you show your strength, the more people will appreciate you.

The middle-aged man was slightly silent, his mindset a bit rattled.

But then he thought the other person was a young man, and immediately felt relieved; it was just a game.

    “Impressive, young man, again, again.”

Hearing this, Sun Zhicheng showed a hint of a smile on his face, and said faintly.

    “You flatter me.”

After being blocked for the third time, the middle-aged man silently walked to the base of the basketball hoop.

He lit a cigarette with a click, using the smoke break to exit the game.

After finishing one cigarette, he said goodbye and left.

Lin Dong finished resting and walked forward, carrying a bottle of mineral water.

“Ah Cheng, you made me laugh.”

    “What’s wrong?”

“Do you have a grudge against him? You kept blocking him.” Lin Dong chuckled; he was purely watching for fun. “But you’re really fierce, you have the potential for CBA.”

Sun Zhicheng looked down at his palm, frowning slightly.

“Didn’t control my strength well, I’ll pay attention next time.”

    Hearing this, Lin Dong nodded.

“Yeah, it’s a chance encounter, who cares about him, don’t know which class’s parent he is.”

“Auntie, have some tea.” Jiang Nian refilled Chen Yunyun’s mother’s tea, and casually asked, “Where’s Uncle? Did he not come?”

The parent-teacher meeting had a ten-minute break midway.

The first half was over, and a timeout was called.

“Thank you, he’s wandering around your school.” Chen Yunyun’s mother smiled, her gaze passing over Jiang Nian to her daughter, who looked awkward behind him.

    Blushing like that, something’s fishy.

“Oh, oh, you can ask Uncle to come up and have a cup of tea.” Jiang Nian poured another cup. “There are many seats in the class, and the second half won’t last much longer.”

“Okay, thank you, little handsome man.”

Hearing this, Chen Yunyun’s face turned even redder.

She wondered what her mother was saying, and calling him such a strange name.

She looked up and saw her mother smiling broadly at her.

    She was going to die.

“Uncle, are you used to this tea?” Jiang Nian poured tea for Zhang Wanhai at his own seat. “Uncle, why aren’t you talking? Are you naturally aloof?”

Zhang Wanhai glanced at his daughter’s talkative deskmate, feeling speechless.

He wondered how the teacher arranged the seats; could his daughter even concentrate on studying?

Although for now, apart from that box of drinks, he hadn’t found anything amiss.

Perhaps the two simply had a good relationship, and making more friends wasn’t a bad thing.

But… this young man’s appearance was really a bit dangerous, not reliable at all.

As he was thinking, he suddenly saw his daughter walking over.

The boy naturally turned his head and immediately said,

“Uncle is really handsome, wow, he must have been as handsome as a young Leonardo DiCaprio in his youth.”

Hearing this, Zhang Wanhai immediately sat up straight.

Although this boy was quite talkative, his taste was good.

“It’s… it’s alright, it’s not that exaggerated.” Zhang Ningzhi even felt a bit embarrassed for her father, and introduced, “Dad, this is my deskmate, Jiang Nian.”

“Hello, Uncle.” Jiang Nian greeted him.

“Jiang Nian, right? You’re a good young man.” Zhang Wanhai didn’t have much else to say, and after asking two questions about whether his parents had come, there was no further conversation.

Zhang Ningzhi sat in Jiang Nian’s seat, accompanying her father and talking.

Jiang Nian left with the teapot, wandering around the class and seeing an acquaintance.

    “Uncle Sun.”

“Oh, Brother Nian.” Sun Jianguo was also happy, and took the opportunity to show off while Jiang Nian was pouring tea, “Yesterday, I went wild fishing and caught a big one, it was really strong.”

“Cool, do you have photos?” Jiang Nian asked casually.

“Yes, yes, yes, I even posted it on my Moments.” Sun Jianguo opened his Moments and showed off, “Look at the size of it, I thought my rod was going to break.”

Jiang Nian agreed for a while, and before leaving, he saw Sun Zhicheng’s message to his parents.

“【Your humble servant is a military general, not good with words. I’ll copy a ‘Longzhong Duo’ for you; remember to read it for a long time, don’t let the homeroom teacher find out I didn’t write it.】”

“Your humble servant was originally a commoner, tilling the fields in Nanyang.”

He chuckled, wandering around to see what others in the class had written.

Anyway, the messages for parents were basically spread out on the desks, most of them written honestly.

Yao Beibei drew a heart on her paper, with a note: Bring some grapes home.

He took out Yu Zhiyi’s message to her parents; her parents hadn’t come.

She knew yesterday that this was purely for him, to see what she wrote.

    “【You actually looked? How shameless.】”

    That was it.

Jiang Nian didn’t care, he took the Materials and threw it into the trash.

Just as he was about to leave with the teapot, he turned around and came face to face with the class monitor.

Li Qingrong looked at him with a deep gaze, as if she had something to say.

He felt a little flustered and asked.

“Class monitor, what’s wrong with you?”

Li Qingrong lowered her eyes and slowly spoke.

    “Your space access permissions.”
