Chapter 97: The Su Family (Part 2)
by SunflowerJiang Yu then turned to Su Ming and introduced him.
“This is Mr. Tao, your fourth aunt’s maternal granduncle, and also your elder.”
“Hello.”
Su Ming immediately greeted him politely.
“Good, good!”
Mr. Tao responded with a smile.
“You two sit first, I’ll take him inside.”
Jiang Yu said politely, then led Su Ming inside.
After the two entered the inner courtyard, the guests sitting along the way all looked at Jiang Yu and Su Ming, as they had arrived too late and were therefore very conspicuous.
Jiang Yu maintained a smile, leading Su Ming inside while introducing him.
“This is your grandfather’s distant cousin, and that is your mother’s cousin.”
“Hello.”
Su Ming politely greeted each person, one by one. He noticed that the further inside the guests were seated, the closer their relationship or the higher their status, meaning the seating arrangements had a specific order.
At this moment, inside the villa’s main hall, numerous banquet tables were filled with guests, and next to each table stood a female server dressed in a cheongsam. At the very end of the hall, a T-shaped stage covered with a red carpet was set up.
Below the T-stage was a main banquet table with seating for fifty people.
Su Zhentian was seated at the head of the table, with a white-haired woman full of wrinkles and cold eyes sitting upright to his right, and a robust, square-faced, thick-browed, large-eyed, steady-mannered middle-aged man sitting to his left.
These two were Su Zhentian’s wife, Zhou Xuanyue, and his eldest son, Su Yao, respectively.
Aside from the eldest son Su Yao, the table also had the third son Su Ying, the fourth son Su Dong, the fifth son Su Feilong, and the seventh son Su Haiwei, as well as their wives and children.
Su Zhentian had a total of nine children, six boys and three girls who all married out.
The daughters who married out were also invited, but they could not sit at the main table and were all seated at the side tables.
At this time, at the dinner table, several exquisitely dressed noblewomen were chatting idly.
“What time is it, and they’re still not here?”
“Exactly, they’re too slow, making all of us wait for them.”
“But speaking of which, how did the ninth son’s son get into Royal Court Academy? It’s truly incredible.”
“I find it very puzzling. Not long ago, I heard he tried to hang himself for a female classmate.”
“Right! I’m also very curious how he got in. If it weren’t for the Royal Court Order personally overseeing this year’s City Exam, I would suspect he cheated.”
“I think so too.”
Just as these noblewomen were whispering, a chubby young man with acne around his mouth, dressed in luxurious clothes, clutched his stomach and complained.
“Why aren’t they here yet? I’m starving to death! Can’t we just start without them?”
At this, Su Dong, seeing his youngest son clamoring for the meal to start, mustered the courage to say to Su Zhentian.
“Father, why don’t we just start eating without waiting? The food is going to get cold.”
Su Zhentian glared directly at his fourth son, Su Dong, slammed his hand on the table, and cursed.
“Damn it, I’m holding an enrollment banquet for Su Bin, Su Ming, and Su Le, not for you! What are you eating, you idiot! You’re truly stupid to death.”
Su Dong immediately shrank his neck and dared not utter a sound.
“Alright, it’s a joyous day, don’t curse. No matter how stupid he is, he’s still your son.”
Zhou Xuanyue calmly reminded him.
Su Zhentian was momentarily speechless upon hearing Zhou Xuanyue’s words, and he angrily suppressed his temper.
To be honest, if the guests weren’t present today, he would have definitely given this idiot a good beating. This guy didn’t properly educate his own son, and even helped him cheat, resulting in being caught red-handed, which cost him a third-generation machine.
Now he even had the nerve to suggest starting the meal, and thinking of this filled him with anger.
At this time, Su Ying and the other brothers watched Su Dong being scolded as if it were a show, showing no intention of speaking up for him.
Just then, a guest sitting near the entrance suddenly shouted.
“They’re here, they’re here!”
“Finally.”
Su Ming’s cousins whispered one by one.
At this moment, Jiang Yu led Su Ming into the hall. Guests along the way all looked at Su Ming, and many people whispered.
“Which young master of the Su Family is this son? I’ve never seen him before?”
“It seems to be the ninth son’s!”
“Isn’t the ninth son very fat?”
“I’m not sure.”
At this moment, Su Ming and Jiang Yu walked to the main banquet table amidst everyone’s gazes and discussions.
Su Zhentian was also slightly stunned looking at Su Ming, momentarily unable to recognize him.
His memory of Su Ming was still from several years ago, and in his impression, Su Ming was very fat.
Su Yao and the others were also very surprised looking at Su Ming; they hadn’t expected the ninth son’s son to be so handsome?
“Hello, Grandpa, Grandma.”
Su Ming politely bowed and greeted Su Zhentian and Zhou Xuanyue.
“Master, young master is here.”
Jiang Yu said respectfully.
At this, Su Zhentian recovered and immediately burst into laughter.
“Haha, truly my good grandson. It seems you listened to my words back then and really lost weight.”
“It’s all thanks to Grandpa’s excellent guidance.”
Su Ming responded very eloquently.
“Well said! Oh, where’s your father? Why didn’t he come?”
Su Zhentian, in a very good mood, stood up and asked.
“Grandpa, Father hasn’t been feeling well recently. He caught a severe cold yesterday and is currently bedridden at home recovering, so I came by myself.”
Su Ming quickly explained to Su Zhentian.
“Damn it, I told him long ago to exercise more, but he just wouldn’t listen. Forget it, it’s a great day today, I won’t talk about him.”
Su Zhentian was too lazy to scold Su Yuan anymore.
“Grandpa is right.”
Su Ming replied very obediently.
“Su Ming, Su Le, Su Bin, all of you come with me!”
Su Zhentian waved his hand and then walked towards the T-stage set up behind him.
At this, a plainly dressed, bespectacled, refined young man and a proud young man wearing a branded trendy outfit with a starry sky watch on his wrist rose from the main table and walked onto the T-stage.
Su Ming also followed onto the T-stage. He glanced at the two and was quite surprised. The Su Family actually had two more people admitted to Royal Court Academy this year. It seemed they had put a lot of effort into education, no wonder the Su Family was doing so well.
“Distinguished guests, thank you very much for attending my Su Family’s enrollment banquet today. I would now like to formally introduce three young talents from my Su Family: Su Bin, Su Ming, and Su Le. They achieved excellent results in this year’s City Exam and were admitted to Royal Courtyard Academy Outer School.”
Su Zhentian announced loudly to everyone.
Clap clap ~
Inside the hall, everyone applauded enthusiastically.
“Congratulations!”
“Congratulations!”
“Their future is bright!”
Su Zhentian raised his hand, signaling everyone to be quiet. Once the hall quieted down, he said to everyone.
“Everyone present here today are relatives and friends of my Su Family. You all know me, Su Zhentian, very well and understand my temperament. I have always been a man of my word! During the last enrollment banquet, I said it! Whoever studies hard and gets into Royal Court Academy, I will reward them handsomely. Now I announce that Su Ming and the other two will each receive a red envelope of ten million federal currency to congratulate them on their admission to Royal Court Academy!”
