Chapter Index

    The next morning.

Su Ming emerged from his home in his workout clothes, jogging towards Teacher Tang Yan’s house.

Originally, Su Yuan had planned to drive him, but Su Ming refused. He needed to review for the City Exam, so his exercise time was very limited, and this journey could make up for some of the physical activity.

    About an hour later.

Su Ming arrived at Tang Yan’s house, panting, where Mink and the others had already arrived.

    “Su Ming, you’re here.”

    Mink greeted Su Ming warmly.

Chen Tong, leaning against the wall, grumbled, “So slow. Next time, come earlier. We were about to start.”

    “Okay!”

Su Ming replied with a smile.

Ever since they were beaten together and fought side by side last time, their relationship had naturally grown closer.

At this moment, Teacher Tang Yan walked out of the bedroom, carrying a stack of lesson plans. He scanned everyone present and said,

“Everyone is here. We are officially starting our sprint review today. Before we begin, I have some news for you.”

    “Teacher, please tell us!”

Mink and the others looked at Tang Yan curiously.

“According to unofficial news I’ve received, the difficulty of this year’s City Exam might be higher than in previous years. So, you need to be mentally prepared and work twice as hard!”

Tang Yan told Su Ming and the others with a very serious expression.

    “Ah, why?”

“That’s right! Teacher, why will this year be harder than previous years?”

Mink and the others’ hearts sank, and they asked in confusion.

“I’m not entirely sure, after all, it’s just a rumor.”

“How much will the difficulty increase?”

“How would I know? However, most of you are aiming for ordinary higher academies. As long as you get more basic points, the problem shouldn’t be too big. So, cheer up and put in the effort, fight for your future lives!”

Tang Yan encouraged all the students!

    “Okay.”

Mink and the others quickly adjusted their mindset; they had no way out now.

    Knock knock~~

Suddenly, a sharp knocking sound rang out.

Tang Yan looked at the door in confusion, feeling quite puzzled. Everyone was already here, so could it be a new student?

    He said to Zhao Ran,

“Zhao Ran, go open the door!”

    “Okay.”

Zhao Ran got up and walked to the door, opening it. When she saw who was knocking, her face showed extreme surprise.

At this moment, Principal Roken walked in with a beaming smile.

    “Principal?”

Tang Yan was also bewildered. Why had Principal Roken suddenly come to his house?

Roken ignored Tang Yan and instead surveyed the living room. When he saw Su Ming, Mink, and Chen Tong, he immediately said with a chuckle,

    “Everyone’s here!”

Su Ming lowered his voice and asked Mink,

“Mink, why is this shameless principal here?”

Mink’s expression was quite something when he heard Su Ming describe the principal that way, and he replied,

    “I don’t know either.”

“If you have something to say, say more!”

Chen Tong showed a mocking smile, looking like he enjoyed stirring up trouble.

“Principal, don’t stand at the door, please come in and sit!”

Tang Yan quickly stepped forward to greet him.

    “No need.”

Principal Roken replied perfunctorily, then walked out of the room again with a big smile.

Immediately after, he enthusiastically invited seven reporters carrying cameras to come in.

Su Ming and the others were very confused seeing so many reporters.

At this point, Principal Roken pointed to Su Ming and the two others and introduced them,

“These three students are the three brave students praised by Captain Han Le. In the Kirami invasion incident, they showed great bravery, not only piloting training aircraft to transfer and escort their classmates, but also, in times of crisis, disregarding their own safety, picking up weapons and fighting alongside them!”

The reporters’ eyes lit up, and they all stepped forward to interview the three of them.

“Students, could you tell us about your heroic deeds?”

Su Ming’s mouth twitched slightly, and he instinctively took a small step back.

Mink, facing the microphone, also replied somewhat nervously,

“Actually, we didn’t think too much at the time, we just acted on impulse and—”

Before Mink could finish, Principal Roken leaned in and said with a chuckle,

“Actually, they wanted to say that the situation at the time didn’t allow for much thought. They remembered my teachings, and without hesitation, they rushed forward to fight those evil monsters!”

“It seems that their achievements today are truly thanks to your excellent guidance, Principal!”

The reporter said, giving him face.

“It’s alright. Actually, I educate every student with such painstaking effort. I am deeply gratified that they could perform in such a way, so I have specially prepared certificates of honor and bonuses for them!”

Roken said, taking out three certificates and three thick envelopes with ‘bonus’ written on the surface, and eagerly handed them to Su Ming and the two others.

Su Ming and the two others were also a bit surprised.

At this moment, a photographer with a monkey-like face, wearing a khaki photography vest, and a fawning smile, held his camera and said,

“Principal Roken, let me take a group photo for you!”

    “Good, you three line up!”

Principal Roken smiled and pulled Su Ming and the two others into position.

Su Ming and the two others also found it difficult to refuse in front of so many reporters. So, Mink stood on the left, Su Ming in the middle, and Chen Tong on the right.

Principal Roken then stood directly in front of the three of them, blocking Su Ming.

    “Very good, smile!”

The photographer called out with a smile.

Principal Roken also smiled very brightly, making it seem as if he was the one receiving the award.

    Click!

    “Alright, Principal, take a look!”

The photographer handed the camera to Principal Roken to see.

Principal Roken looked closely and saw that he was photographed quite tall, and Su Ming, standing behind him, was completely blocked, with only half of his forehead and hair visible, nothing else could be seen.

    “Xiao Gao, well shot!”

Principal Roken praised with great satisfaction.

“Thank you for your praise, Principal.”

    Xiao Gao replied very happily.

“Um, Principal, can we interview them about the specific combat details? It would be good for writing an article later.”

At this moment, a female reporter politely asked.

“No need for such trouble, I’ll tell you. I was also present at the time. You follow me first, it’s too cramped here, I can’t tell you in detail, let’s go outside and talk.”

Principal Roken enthusiastically led the reporters away, completely ignoring Su Ming and the two others. Anyway, photos had already been taken, and there was nothing left for the three of them to do. He would Han Le the rest himself, to prevent them from saying anything inappropriate.

    “Hmph, how hypocritical.”

Chen Tong scoffed disdainfully after Principal Roken left.

    “This is just a show!”

Mink was also a bit displeased.

“It doesn’t matter, at least he gave us certificates and bonuses. It should be quite thick, let’s count it!”

Su Ming tore open the bonus envelope and pulled out a stack of federal currency.

When he saw the federal currency he pulled out, the smile on his face froze. They were all ten-unit denominations, meaning this stack was only 1000 federal currency.
