Chapter 171: Giving Up (First Update)
by SunflowerSu Ming manually opened the cockpit, looking at the two Raider mechs in front of him with surprise.
“Su Ming, are you okay?”
Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue controlled their mechs and walked towards Su Ming.
“I’m fine, it’s just that the fuel ran out halfway through the fight.”
Su Ming spread his hands, explaining with a hint of helplessness.
“My fuel is also almost empty, the alarm has been going off.”
Lin Chuyu replied with a sigh, her situation wasn’t much better.
“Same here, no difference.”
An Ruoxue also chimed in.
At this moment, Lin Chuyu turned her head to look at the destroyed Iron Guard Mech and tentatively asked Su Ming.
“Su Ming, can we use the fuel rods from these Iron Guard Mechs?”
“No, different mechs use different models of fuel rods; they’re not compatible at all! This is due to the internal power struggles within the Old Federation! Of course, it’s not that they couldn’t unify the models, but rather they weren’t willing to. Even if the fuel itself is the same, they make the dimensions different. This way, if you order their mechs, you’re forced to purchase their fuel rods later on.”
Su Ming explained simply.
“That’s truly too much.”
Lin Chuyu sighed and said.
“It’s normal. The fuel rod model issue is just the tip of the iceberg. As far as I know, the parts needed for mech repair and modification are also not interchangeable.”
Su Ming had long been accustomed to these phenomena.
Just then, Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue’s scanning devices simultaneously emitted a piercing alarm.
They were immediately startled, looking down at their scanning devices, only to see red dots rapidly approaching.
“Oh no, their reinforcements are here.”
“Abandon the mechs, let’s find somewhere to hide!”
Su Ming said without a moment’s hesitation, jumping down from the mech and landing steadily.
Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue also didn’t hesitate; they decisively opened their cockpits and jumped down.
If they had even a little fuel left, they wouldn’t have abandoned their mechs, but now they had no choice.
“Let’s go!”
Su Ming led them, sprinting towards a dilapidated building not far away.
Since all three were wearing Second Generation Exoskeleton Armor Rock Steel, their running speed was very fast, and in a blink of an eye, they rushed into the dilapidated building to hide.
Just as the three of them finished hiding, a series of roars came from afar, and five Iron Guard Mechs charged over.
The leading captain saw Su Ming’s three mechs and immediately gave an order.
“Fire!”
They raised their beam rifles and fired a volley!
Bang bang~
Without any surprise, the three Raiders were blown up.
“Damn it, they’re empty mechs, the people have already run. Spread out and chase, we must eliminate them.”
The leading captain immediately noticed the problem and quickly spoke to his team members.
“Understood!”
They controlled their mechs and dispersed.
At this moment, Su Ming cautiously poked his head out for a look, and after confirming they had left, he immediately spoke to Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue.
“Let’s get out of here quickly; if they don’t find anyone, they might turn back.”
“Okay.”
Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue agreed, then followed Su Ming to escape.
The three tried to choose narrower streets as much as possible, running close to the buildings, so that if anything happened, they could hide immediately.
“Su Ming, if we run like this, what about the others?”
Lin Chuyu asked with some concern.
“There’s really nothing we can do. We don’t even have mechs now, so we can’t help them. They’ll just have to rely on themselves.”
Su Ming sighed, saying with utter helplessness.
“Su Ming is right, but constantly running isn’t a solution either. We need to find a way to get a new mech.”
An Ruoxue pondered for a moment and said.
“I want to too, but the problem is it’s hard to get one. Let’s just run for now.”
Su Ming really wanted to get a mech, but this city was almost in ruins, where would he find one?
“Mm.”
An Ruoxue didn’t say much more.
The three continued to flee forward, whenever they heard sounds of battle, they ran in the opposite direction, trying their best to avoid the enemy.
Even though they were still wearing Second Generation Exoskeleton Armor Rock Steel, if they really encountered a mech, they wouldn’t even be enough for one swing of its blade.
More than half an hour later.
As the three ran along the street, past a square building made of steel with half its gate collapsed, Su Ming suddenly stopped and then walked back.
“What’s wrong?”
Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue looked at him in confusion.
Su Ming turned to look at the dilapidated square steel building in front of him, his expression changing as he said.
“Let’s go into this building and investigate; maybe we’ll find something.”
“Is there anything special about this building?”
An Ruoxue curiously observed the square building.
“This is the Mox City Garrison Bureau; there might be mechs inside.”
Su Ming didn’t hide anything.
“How do you know?”
Lin Chuyu asked with great curiosity, because there was nothing on the surface of the building, and from a glance, it was impossible to tell it was a garrison bureau.
At this moment, Su Ming extended his index finger and pointed to their feet, saying.
“It’s written on the sign you’re standing on.”
Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue both looked down at the dirty sign under their feet at the same time, and were immediately speechless.
Soon, the three entered the Garrison Bureau. Inside, it was a mess, with overturned tables and chairs everywhere, and scattered documents, many of which were stained with blood.
“Let’s go to the garrison hangar.”
Su Ming led the two, walking cautiously deeper inside.
Not long after, the three found the garrison hangar in the basement.
The vast garrison hangar was empty, but in the innermost corner, an Iron Guard Mech was parked.
“An Iron Guard Mech!”
Lin Chuyu exclaimed with joy.
“It’s a mech, alright, but the quantity is a bit low; there’s only one, and we have three people.”
An Ruoxue said with a bit of difficulty.
“Let’s make do with it for now. Let’s get into the mech.”
Su Ming walked directly in front of the Iron Guard Mech. He agilely climbed to the cockpit, skillfully opening it and climbing inside.
He scanned the interior with a nervous heart, then saw a key and an instruction manual placed on the seat, clearly indicating it was a brand new spare unit.
Su Ming’s heart filled with joy, and he picked up the key, trying to start the mech.
As the roar of the power unit sounded, the Iron Guard Mech’s eyes lit up.
“Beautiful!”
Su Ming then controlled the Iron Guard Mech to squat down, extending its palm towards Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue, and the two climbed onto the mech’s palm.
Su Ming sent Lin Chuyu and An Ruoxue into the cockpit. The two scanned the cockpit, and the originally spacious cockpit immediately became very cramped.
Most importantly, they couldn’t affect Su Ming’s operation of the mech.
Lin Chuyu asked Su Ming with some difficulty.
“It’s so narrow, where do we stand?”
