Chapter 133: A Stroll (Bonus Chapter for Alliance Leader PureRedApple) (Third Update)
by Sunflower“How can I let you treat me? If we’re going to eat together, I should be the one to treat.”
Although he was stingy with money, it didn’t mean he couldn’t afford it.
Bekahn and A Jica looked at Su Ming with a hint of surprise; they felt that the man in front of them had an extraordinary demeanor.
Just as they were about to agree, Lin Chuyu spoke up.
“No, Su Ming and I have other things to do, so we won’t be eating. Please enjoy your meal. Su Ming, let’s go.”
“Alright.”
Seeing that Lin Chuyu was unwilling, Su Ming didn’t say much more.
As for Bekahn and A Jica, they didn’t stop them, only expressing their regret.
“Since it’s so inconvenient today, let’s do it next time. Be careful on your way.”
“You too. We’ll be going now.”
After Lin Chuyu politely bid them farewell, she left the restaurant with Su Ming.
On the street, Su Ming and Lin Chuyu walked side by side. Lin Chuyu kept her head slightly lowered, her expression a little unnatural.
She felt quite embarrassed. She had planned to treat Su Ming to a meal, but they ended up leaving in a hurry, and she almost made Su Ming spend money again.
“Sorry, Su Ming.”
“What’s there to be sorry about? We already agreed to eat at the school cafeteria; we weren’t planning to eat there.”
Su Ming replied in a relaxed tone.
“Okay, then let’s head back.”
Lin Chuyu replied with a slight silence.
“Alright!”
The two then walked towards the rail station.
Two hours later.
Inside Royal Court Academy’s Canteen No. 1.
Su Ming and Lin Chuyu sat at a corner table with their trays. Lin Chuyu ordered two of the most luxurious set meals, which cost less than 500 federal currency. Compared to the hundreds of thousands of meal expenses outside, it was incredibly cheap.
“I’m sorry, you helped me so much, and I couldn’t treat you to a good meal.”
Lin Chuyu still felt a bit bad.
“Don’t say that. I think the cafeteria food is quite good. Those places outside aren’t about eating food, but eating money. No matter how rich you are, you shouldn’t squander it like that.”
Su Ming replied indifferently as he ate his set meal.
“Just consider it a meal I owe you. I’ll definitely treat you someday.”
Lin Chuyu looked at Su Ming and said very seriously.
“Alright, I’ll be waiting. Oh, right, you don’t seem to want to have too much to do with those two classmates?”
Su Ming naturally changed the subject. He actually knew that Lin Chuyu’s financial situation wasn’t very good, which was evident from the club incident back then.
Lin Chuyu heard Su Ming’s question and immediately explained to him.
“That’s because Bekahn and A Jica are extremely wealthy. Their identities are very unusual; they are both from top financial groups and families. And it’s not just them; when I entered the inner campus, I found that most of my classmates have very high statuses! I don’t think getting involved with them is a good thing.”
“I see. Is the curriculum for your inner campus heavy? How do you usually attend classes?”
Su Ming asked curiously.
Lin Chuyu hesitated for a moment before telling Su Ming.
“The inner campus’s teaching might be different from what you imagine. I can’t tell you the specifics because there’s a confidentiality agreement. However, what I want to tell you is that it’s not necessarily a bad thing for ordinary people not to enter the inner campus, especially for those in the Mecha Department.”
“Okay.”
After listening to Lin Chuyu, a hint of surprise flashed in Su Ming’s eyes, and he stopped asking further questions.
Soon after, Su Ming and Lin Chuyu finished their meal and walked out of the canteen, strolling along the campus road.
Many students passing by secretly looked at the two and discussed.
“That girl is so beautiful.”
“Alright, didn’t you see she has a boyfriend? And he’s not bad-looking either.”
“Tch, I’m handsomer than him, alright?”
“You’re so narcissistic, ugh~”
Su Ming and Lin Chuyu naturally heard the discussions of the passing students, and both felt a little unnatural. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit awkward.
“Su Ming, I need to go back to the inner campus.”
Lin Chuyu exhaled softly and said quietly.
“Okay, see you next time.”
Su Ming smiled and replied.
Lin Chuyu gave a gentle smile and nodded, then turned and left.
Su Ming stood in place, watching Lin Chuyu leave, then walked towards the dormitory.
The next day at noon, Su Ming arrived at the waiting area of the Mecha Training Ground, where a large number of students were still gathered.
Students from various classes were lining up in an organized manner.
Su Ming looked at so many people and felt a splitting headache.
“Class Monitor, over here!”
At this moment, Su Ming suddenly heard a shout.
Su Ming looked over from a distance and saw dozens of people, including Rhine, squatting in line with books in their hands.
So he walked towards Rhine and the others.
As he approached, Rhine quickly greeted Su Ming and said.
“Hurry, cut in between us. Don’t let anyone notice, or you’ll have to re-queue for a long time.”
Su Ming smiled wryly as he squeezed in among them and squatted down, then chatted with Rhine and the others.
“How long have you been queuing?”
“All morning.”
“I see many people ahead; I guess it won’t be our turn until evening?”
“Yeah, it won’t be our turn until evening. The worst part is queuing for so long, but you can only operate for one hour. When the time is up, you’ll be kicked out.”
Rhine complained exasperatedly.
“Actually, that’s still okay. What’s unbearable is the smell. The cockpits of those mechas, because people keep getting in and out to operate them, smell so strong, and some people even pee in them.”
Angie said dejectedly.
Su Ming was speechless after hearing their complaints and didn’t know how to comfort them.
“Class Monitor, what should we do? I really miss training in the arena before, where we could operate mechas freely.”
Elu and the others asked Su Ming with low spirits.
“I have no solution either.”
Su Ming felt helpless listening to their questions. What good solution could he have? If he did, he wouldn’t be squatting here.
Three days later, Su Ming, holding books borrowed from the library, was still squatting in line with Rhine and the others as usual.
Although the efficiency was slow, there was nothing they could do. If they didn’t queue, they couldn’t even train.
Just then, Mia walked over, wearing a cool summer dress, showing off her fair legs, and wearing sunglasses. Seeing Su Ming and the others working so hard, she was in a very good mood and shouted.
“Hi, students, I’m back.”
“Teacher Mia! You’re finally back.”
“Teacher, dressed like that, you didn’t just come back from a trip, did you?”
Upon hearing the voice, Rhine and the others turned their heads to look at Mia, each showing expressions of extreme joy, as if they had seen a savior.
“I went out to play for a few days, but it’s only been a few days since we last met; you don’t need to be this excited, do you?”
Mia said with a cheerful smile.
“Teacher, we’ve been queuing like dogs.”
Rhine and the others complained to her one after another.
Su Ming also looked at Mia with anticipation. He now deeply understood the weight of Mia’s words to him back then: “What’s the point of practicing with a first-generation mecha for you?”
He really didn’t want to operate the first-generation mechas at the training ground anymore; their flexibility was terribly poor.
“Now you know how good I am, right? Follow me!”
Mia waved her hand with a chuckle.
“Oh yeah!”
“Teacher is awesome.”
Rhine and the others immediately erupted, joyfully following Mia away.
Students from surrounding classes, seeing this, also cast puzzled glances.
