Chapter 261: Eagle Falcon’s Gaze (First Update)
by SunflowerThe next morning.
Black Flame City Lord’s Mansion · Administrative Building waiting hall.
A man with a tall and straight figure, dressed in a black suit, with a well-defined face as hard as if carved by a knife, deep and cold eyes, an Eagle Falcon nose, and thin lips, sat quietly waiting in a chair.
Behind him were two male subordinates; the man on the left was strongly built, 2.1 meters tall, with thick eyebrows and large eyes.
The man on the right was short, dark-skinned, and anxious.
“Aierkesi, you’ve been sitting here for seven days already. You can’t keep sitting like this; your body won’t be able to take it.”
The short man advised with deep concern.
“It’s fine, Kabo.”
Aierkesi’s eyes were very firm, completely unmoved.
“Sigh, Rakon, aren’t you going to try to persuade him?”
Kabo said to the big man standing next to him.
Rakon silently lowered his head. There was nothing he could do; when under someone’s roof, one must bow one’s head. He understood better than anyone how proud Aierkesi was; if it weren’t for the Kingdom, he wouldn’t be like this.
Just then, a man dressed in an administrative official’s uniform, with a face full of wrinkles and temples streaked with white hair, walked over with his hands behind his back, a deep frown on his face, accompanied by some subordinates.
“Rolly, may I ask about the City Lord…”
Aierkesi quickly stood up and asked.
“Aierkesi, don’t waste your efforts. The Black Flame City Lord will not see you, nor will he permit you to go to the Federation. Although the Federation deeply regrets the matters of the Aktons Kingdom, it will not intervene.”
Rolly stated with brutal frankness.
Aierkesi’s entire face twitched upon hearing Rolly’s words, but he still gritted his teeth and said,
“Rolly, please, just let me see the City Lord once. If not, then let me go to the Federation. I will not give up; the Imperial Army is already invading our country.”
“Why don’t you understand? Leave!”
“Rolly!”
“What are you still standing there for? Please escort Aierkesi out!”
Rolly was too lazy to waste more words with Aierkesi and directly instructed his subordinates behind him.
These subordinates stepped forward one after another, extending their hands unpleasantly and saying,
“Please!”
Aierkesi’s left hand clenched into a fist, his bones cracking, but he still led his subordinates out.
Soon after, Aierkesi and the two others were directly escorted out by the City Lord’s Mansion staff.
“Aierkesi, what do we do now? This cowardly Federation, it seems determined to play the ostrich, not caring about anything, only wanting to pull its resources back.”
Kabo anxiously asked Aierkesi.
Aierkesi took a deep breath. The Kingdom behind him was in a precarious state, on the verge of collapse. Yet, at this most critical moment, the Federation’s betrayal made him feel a deep sense of despair.
However, Aierkesi refused to accept his fate, and a raging fire ignited in his heart. He raised his head and looked at the magnificent gate of the Black Flame City Lord’s Mansion, his eyes like sharp ice blades, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Just then, Mia, accompanied by Su Ming and Rhine, walked up the stairs from below the City Lord’s Mansion gate.
Su Ming inadvertently caught Aierkesi’s Eagle Falcon-like gaze, and his brow immediately furrowed.
“Let’s go!”
Aierkesi said coldly, then turned and led them down the stairs.
Soon, Su Ming and Aierkesi’s group passed each other.
At this moment, Su Ming stopped, turned his head to look at Aierkesi’s retreating figure, and fell into thought.
Su Ming was very certain that this person was not simple; that momentary look in his eyes made him feel very dangerous.
“Su Ming, what’s wrong?”
At this moment, Rhine’s call came, interrupting Su Ming’s thoughts.
He then came back to his senses and replied,
“Nothing, I’m coming.”
Immediately after, Su Ming caught up in a few steps.
Not long after, Mia led Su Ming and Rhine into the City Lord’s Mansion · Administrative Building.
The entire administrative hall was decorated very simply, with not many decorations visible, and even the floor was paved with the most ordinary black square tiles.
However, it was very lively here, with people everywhere coming to handle procedures, including many officers in military uniforms.
“Alright, I have something to do. You two go to Window No. 1 and handle the procedures for Hai Lan and Katini.”
Mia instructed Su Ming and Rhine.
“Teacher, are you sure we can handle it? They won’t make things difficult for us, will they?”
Rhine asked with some doubt.
“You just tell the person handling it that this is being handled by the Royal Court Academy, and that their superiors have already been notified. Let them verify with their superiors themselves. After you’ve finished the procedures, wait for me at the main gate of the City Lord’s Mansion.”
Mia gave a simple instruction and then walked inside.
Su Ming and Rhine exchanged glances, then walked towards Window No. 1 in the administrative hall.
When they arrived at Window No. 1, they saw a long queue.
Su Ming and Rhine waited patiently in line.
About an hour later, it was finally their turn.
The person responsible for serving them was a stylish woman with brown curly hair. She glanced at Su Ming and Rhine and asked very indifferently,
“What service do you need?”
“We need to apply for temporary passports and exit procedures for Hai Lan and Katini, who are Neutral Countries personnel entering the country!”
Su Ming explained his purpose simply and clearly.
The woman, as well as the people queuing behind Su Ming, all looked at the two of them with incredulous eyes.
“Can’t be done!”
The female staff member in front of them replied without even thinking.
The people behind Su Ming all laughed and said,
“Brother, did a donkey kick your head? You’re trying to help people with these procedures at this critical juncture, who do you think you are?”
Su Ming looked at everyone’s reactions and sighed slightly. It seemed that Black Flame City was truly slaughtering people like pigs.
Although this could bring substantial profits, doing things too extremely was not necessarily a good thing. Who knows, one day, the tables might turn.
At this moment, Rhine very impolitely said to the female staff member in front of them,
“What do you mean ‘can’t be done’? We are here on behalf of the Royal Court Academy. And we’ve already communicated with your superior; go verify it yourself.”
Upon hearing Rhine’s words, the woman’s attitude immediately changed by 180 degrees, and she said with a smile,
“Please calm down, I’ll verify it here for you. If there’s no problem, I’ll process it for you!”
Everyone present was also stunned, looking at Su Ming and Rhine in surprise, then one by one, they shut their mouths.
Su Ming and Rhine stood quietly, waiting.
More than two hours later.
Su Ming and Rhine, holding the completed procedures, squatted at the entrance of the City Lord’s Mansion, bored, waiting for Mia.
“Teacher Mia, what’s going on? Why hasn’t she come out after so long?”
Rhine asked, quite puzzled.
“I’m not sure, something must have delayed her.”
Su Ming replied calmly.
Just then, Mia walked out of the City Lord’s Mansion with a somewhat solemn expression.
Su Ming and Rhine saw her and quickly stood up to meet her.
Mia directly said to the two approaching her,
“Go buy whatever you need to buy quickly; we’re boarding the ship and leaving tomorrow morning.”
