Chapter 40 Tracking
by Sunflower“Gu Meng, let’s just drop it.”
The girl beside Gu Meng quickly advised her.
“Hmph.”
Gu Meng snorted, tacitly agreeing.
Qi Shen, on the side, didn’t want to pay but also didn’t want to lose face in front of Gu Meng, so he sneered.
“You’re quoting such a high price; why don’t you pay for it? Don’t tell me it’s just empty talk?”
Su Ming didn’t argue with Qi Shen; he directly said to the manager of Wanshan:
“QR code, payment!”
The Wanshan manager looked at Su Ming with a different expression now and quickly said,
“Alright!”
Anyone who dared to quote three thousand federal currency an hour these days was either a big spender or a genuine tycoon.
Soon, Su Ming paid the 20,000 federal currency deposit with his phone, and a notification SMS popped up.
“Dear customer, your account has spent 20,000 federal currency. Balance: 21,253,000 federal currency!”
Su Ming was slightly stunned looking at the pop-up message. He remembered being quite wealthy, but he hadn’t expected to be so rich, with so much money still in his card—enough to buy a regular Second Generation Mecha.
However, he quickly remembered that this money was his New Year’s and birthday red envelopes from childhood, all from his parents, relatives, and the old man.
Of course, his assets weren’t limited to just this; the limited-edition figurines and models in his room were also incredibly valuable and easily convertible to cash.
In a sense, he truly was the rich landlord’s foolish son.
“Alright, this esteemed guest has already paid and booked it, so the simulation pod is his. Everyone, please disperse!”
Wanshan shouted to the onlookers.
Gu Meng glared at Su Ming in annoyance. In fact, she wasn’t just competing for the simulation training pod; she was targeting Lin Chuyu.
She had known Lin Chuyu for a long time; they used to be in the same school. At that time, Lin Chuyu always surpassed her in every aspect, which made her intensely dislike Lin Chuyu.
However, fortunately, when it was time to enter middle school, she successfully got into the best academy, while Lin Chuyu went to the Third Academy due to her weaker family background.
Meeting her here again, she naturally wanted to take the opportunity to cause trouble, but she hadn’t expected Su Ming to mess things up.
Su Ming ignored Gu Meng. He pulled out a hundred federal currency from his pocket and handed it to Lin Chuyu.
“Take this. I have class, so I’ll be leaving first.”
“Thank you.”
Lin Chuyu took the money Su Ming handed her.
Seeing Lin Chuyu take Su Ming’s money, Qi Shen then said to Gu Meng in a sarcastic tone,
“Gu Meng, did you see that? The rumors seem to be true. This Lin Chuyu is a green tea, probably being kept by someone. We shouldn’t bother with them.”
“Hmph, let’s go.”
Gu Meng’s mood improved after hearing Qi Shen’s taunt, and she turned and left.
Su Ming coldly watched Gu Meng and the others leave. Just as he was about to depart, Lin Chuyu called out to him.
“Su Ming, wait.”
“What’s wrong? Is there anything else?”
Su Ming looked at Lin Chuyu in confusion.
“Give me your phone number. I’ll return the money to you tomorrow.”
Lin Chuyu said to Su Ming.
“Okay, my phone number is…”
Su Ming directly recited the number to Lin Chuyu, knowing that with Lin Chuyu’s memory, she would likely remember it after hearing it just once.
“Mhm, I’ve got it.”
Lin Chuyu diligently memorized the number.
“I’m leaving.”
Su Ming then turned and walked towards the escalator.
Lin Chuyu watched Su Ming’s departing back, a thoughtful expression on her face.
At dusk.
Su Ming walked down the bustling street with his hands in his pockets, feeling a bit melancholic.
“This is a bit troublesome.”
Su Ming muttered to himself. He hadn’t expected training pods to be so sought after now, and his time was tight, making it impossible to even get in line.
The most crucial point was that apart from this club, there was no other place in the entire Thirteenth District that had a mecha training pod.
Just then, several figures hid among the crowd, watching Su Ming from a distance and cautiously trailing him.
Su Ming suddenly stopped, and the people following him also stopped.
However, after a short while, Su Ming continued to walk forward.
When he reached a fork in the road, he turned and looked around, then walked towards a very quiet small street.
The figures’ eyes lit up, and they quickened their pace to follow him.
Su Ming walked straight ahead. When he passed a small alley, he quickly turned into it.
After entering the alley, he ran straight forward, constantly turning corners.
However, just as he turned into the depths of the alley, he unluckily ran into a dead end.
As he was about to turn and leave, he saw five hooligans holding sticks blocking his way.
“Run! Aren’t you good at running?”
Wang Qiang, chewing on a cigarette, looked at Su Ming with a fake smile.
Su Ming didn’t reply to Wang Qiang but instead scanned each of them.
“You fatso, I warned you last time, but you still don’t know what’s good for you.”
Wang Qiang saw Su Ming remain silent, thinking he was scared, and then said viciously.
“Oh, so what do you want?”
Su Ming stood with his hands in his pockets, looking at Wang Qiang and the others with a calm expression, as if watching a group of clowns.
Wang Qiang was immediately enraged by Su Ming’s calm reaction and his contemptuous gaze, and he said viciously,
“What do I want? Today, I’m going to kill you!”
“That depends on whether you have the ability, doesn’t it?”
Su Ming looked at them as if they were idiots.
Wang Qiang was also amused by Su Ming’s words. He raised the stick in his hand and said to all his subordinates,
“Get him!”
Just as Wang Qiang charged forward with his subordinates, Su Ming pulled out a very exquisite, miniature beam gun from his right pocket, intricately carved with complex patterns!
Whoosh~
Su Ming pulled the trigger decisively.
A beam shot out, hitting Wang Qiang’s right leg squarely.
“Ah~”
Wang Qiang screamed, falling directly to the ground, clutching his leg in pain as blood gushed out.
For a moment, Wang Qiang’s subordinates were all terrified. They all stopped in their tracks, looking at Su Ming in horror.
They never expected Su Ming to have a gun. One must know that the Old Federation had very strict controls on this matter.
Su Ming held the beam gun and walked towards Wang Qiang and the others.
Wang Qiang’s subordinates all retreated in terror. Many of them already wanted to run, but Su Ming’s gun remained pointed at them.
They dared not run, fearing they would be shot and killed.
“Everyone, throw your weapons, hold your heads, and squat against the wall. Anyone who dares to move will be killed!”
Su Ming warned coldly.
Immediately, Wang Qiang’s subordinates all threw their sticks, obediently holding their heads and squatting against the wall.
Then, Su Ming walked up to Wang Qiang, raised the beam gun in his hand, pointed it at Wang Qiang’s head, his expression somewhat chilling.
These guys were truly persistent. Fortunately, he had been careful and had specifically gone to his father’s room to take his cherished beam gun when he left home.
Wang Qiang endured the pain and said defiantly to Su Ming,
“Kid, don’t think you’re so great just because you have a gun.”
