Chapter 57 Healing
by SunflowerXu Qianqian, as if in a fit of pique, hurried upstairs in one breath and lowered her head to unlock the door.
Annoyed, even the door lock seemed to be giving her trouble.
It’s all Jiang Nian’s fault!
“You’re twisting it the wrong way, my dim-witted friend.” Jiang Nian couldn’t watch any longer. He reached out, placed his hand over hers, twisted hard, and with a click, the door locked.
An awkward atmosphere filled the air.
“Ha, playful.” Jiang Nian acted as if nothing happened, turned around, and planned to go home. “Sleep early, good night.”
Xu Qianqian clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
“Are you trying to die, Jiang Nian!”
“Hey, hey, alright, what’s the big deal.” Jiang Nian first ruled out the correct answer. “Where’s Uncle Xu? Just have him open the door from the inside.”
“Overtime, not home yet.”
“Then move aside, I’ll open it for you.” He stepped forward and fiddled with it for a while, switched directions, twisted hard, it didn’t open, then twisted hard again, and with a click, it finally opened.
He checked the time, half past eight, still early. He decided to be a good person and carried all of Xu Qianqian’s things inside, then sat on the sofa and skillfully turned on the TV.
“Don’t you have a TV at home?” Xu Qianqian bent down, putting drinks into the refrigerator.
“How can that be the same?” He didn’t treat himself as an outsider at all, but the empty house was indeed a bit cold. “Hey, do you play games?”
“Doing practice tests, reviewing.” Xu Qianqian ignored him.
She went back to her room, got out her test papers, and slowly started writing in the living room. Although she said she wasn’t playing, she would look up at the TV every half minute.
Her problem-solving speed was incredibly slow; six multiple-choice questions took nearly twenty minutes.
Watching TV alone was bland, but friends were the best setup. As long as someone watched with you, even the most boring show would become a bit more interesting.
Jiang Nian lay on the sofa, playing on his phone and watching TV at the same time.
He had only done a few multiple-choice questions on his physics test but wasn’t worried at all. Li Hua hadn’t written his either; he was still battling it out at the internet café, having played games all day.
Li Hua thought the same way.
Beep beep beep!!
In the message bar, Zhang Ningzhi’s avatar now had two red numbers.
“Have you finished your test paper? (Cute)”
Heh, asking such a private question.
“No, I activated study anti-addiction for the weekend.” Jiang Nian typed back, “Lend me your physics test tomorrow to copy, and I’ll buy you a fruit milk.”
“What flavor do you like?”
Zhang Ningzhi had no choice at all. After a long time of “typing…”, a “Okay” popped up.
Seeing this, Jiang Nian immediately felt comfortable.
He had annoyed Xu Qianqian several times today, so getting the physics test from her was wishful thinking; he might even be trampled under her feet.
Although Jiang Nian didn’t mind “prison guard rewards,” he just wanted to be a quiet handsome man watching TV right now and didn’t want to make Xu Qianqian explode.
A QQ message from Li Hua popped up, “Nian, I think I might have superpowers; I’ve been online all day and I’m not tired at all!”
“【Photo】 I’m offline now, it’s a shame you didn’t come, I basically won all day today.”
“【Scoreboard Photo】 Isn’t it awesome?”
Jiang Nian thought for a moment and replied, “I’ve finished my test papers.”
Kind words warm for three winters, harsh words wound in June’s cold.
Li Hua was silent for a few minutes, then replied with a broken-defense emoji.
“You noob! You noob!! How could you!! Didn’t you say you were playing on your phone in the morning, sleeping in the afternoon, and shopping at the supermarket in the evening?”
All’s fair in love and war, Huazi, after all, it’s a classroom where strength reigns supreme!
“You could just go back and do it, I finished at five in the morning.” Jiang Nian lightly typed out the cold words, “Wash your face and you can go out for class.”
“Ah! Your mom!” Li Hua was completely broken.
In the living room.
Xu Qianqian heard the laughter and glanced at him, asking curiously.
“Hey, what happened between you and Zhou Yuting later?”
“What happened?” Jiang Nian sat up from the sofa, speechless. “She and I have nothing to do with each other, didn’t you see that day?”
“Why are you feeling guilty?” Her lips curved slightly.
Damn, can this person read minds? Did you go to kindergarten at Hogwarts?
“Guilty my ass, we broke up ages ago.” Jiang Nian remembered what happened at the birthday party. “Those idiots didn’t treat me as a friend at all.”
“What about Zhou Yuting?” Xu Qianqian put down her pen, interested. “She’s quite pretty and tall.”
Jiang Nian lay back on the sofa, pouting.
“Not interested.”
Xu Qianqian pursed her lips and smiled, though she didn’t know what she was smiling about.
Who cares about him.
Jiang Nian didn’t leave Xu Qianqian’s house until ten o’clock.
Before he left with the shopping bag, he suddenly said, “You look pretty good today.”
Bang, the door closed.
The girl stood inside the door, half-dazed, and it took a while for her to slowly come back to her senses.
She felt a bit weightless, her heart like a boat sailing at night on the sea, drifting unsteadily.
Jiang Nian had just finished showering, dried his hair, and lay in bed when he suddenly received a message from Li Hua.
“Any recommendations for healing romance novels? I’ve been saving Dragon Three for a while, haven’t brought myself to read it.”
He was a bit curious and typed, “Where are you at?”
Li Hua: “Running away grandly into the sunlight, I plan to read it little by little during Chinese class next time.”
“Oh, no problem, guaranteed sweet.” Jiang Nian replied, “That fast? Have you finished your test paper?”
Li Hua replied five minutes later, “I’ve done a third of it, simple and not difficult at all. Surely no one would take a whole day, right?”
Jiang Nian wasn’t annoyed; he calmly replied, “Bro, take a break. You still have time to read for half an hour. I’ll recommend a few.”
Li Hua sent a sunglasses emoji, triumphantly saying, “Bring it on.”
Jiang Nian didn’t really read depressing literature. He casually searched for “knife booklists” and sent them one by one to Li Hua before going to sleep.
The next day.
Jiang Nian waited for Xu Qianqian to go to school together. Their relationship was sometimes good, sometimes bad, usually depending on whether Jiang Nian had acted like a decent human being.
The main reason was that Song Xiyun lived in the north of the county, completely opposite to Xu Qianqian’s house, so the two best friends couldn’t go to and from school together.
Entering the classroom, Zhang Ningzhi had arrived early and was memorizing biology knowledge points.
The classroom lights were on in the morning. Jiang Nian handed her a box of fruit milk. The physics test paper was already placed on her bookshelf, held down by a red pen.
He was quite trustworthy, a good friend to cultivate.
“Thanks, I’ll return it after I copy it.” Jiang Nian took the test paper and returned to his seat, beginning to quickly copy and paste.
Around the time of morning reading, Li Hua, the mischievous friend, stumbled in, just making it on time from the back of the classroom, looking like he had pink eye.
“Damn you, Jiang Nian! Your mom! What kind of stuff did you recommend to me!!! Ah!!”
Jiang Nian had just finished copying the physics test. He subtly covered Zhang Ningzhi’s physics test paper, looked up, and feigned confusion.
“What?”
“You’re such a scumbag!” Li Hua sat down, trembling all over. “I was emo all night, and when I woke up this morning, everything looked red.”
