Chapter Index

The foul, corrosive stench hit him, and Lin Xian was instantly alarmed. He cursed inwardly. Was this a fucking Xenomorph? It could actually spray corrosive acid?

    Slap! Slap! Slap!

The three-headed monster quickly climbed down from the wall and frantically pounced at Lin Xian. Its three heads continuously opened their bloody maws, spraying at him.

Lin Xian immediately ducked into a corner of the alley and, turning around, created an iron fence wall behind him.

    Sizzle~ Sizzle~

Black blood continuously sprayed from behind. The three-headed monster, like a living spider, bypassed Lin Xian’s iron fence wall by climbing on the walls and quickly chased after him.

This monster was extremely fast and could also spray from a distance. Fortunately, Lin Xian chose to take this winding alley. If he were in an open area, he would have had to create an iron wall in front of him to block it, which would have made him much more passive.

    Rat-a-tat-tat!

At the corner, when the three-headed spider pounced out, Lin Xian was at the next corner, raising his gun and firing, like he was playing guerrilla warfare.

The scorching bullets shot out, instantly tearing away the flesh of the three-headed spider, sending pieces of meat flying.

Lin Xian turned and ran. He picked up the walkie-talkie and found that the red light was still on. He immediately understood that the anomaly in this darkness must also have some kind of signal-blocking power. It seemed that the walkie-talkies would also need to be equipped with Anomaly Blood Crystals.

    “Dalou!”

In the dark streets, Lin Xian suddenly roared.

The three-headed monster was rapidly approaching from behind. Without looking back, Lin Xian continuously released various steel nets and iron walls behind him with his raised hand, while also setting down tripwires and nail walls on the road.

    Crack! Bang!

The monster behind him was constantly blocked by various devices, which seemed to cause it some damage. Lin Xian’s tactics completely enraged it. Its spider-like legs moved faster and faster as it climbed to a higher position and rapidly approached.

At this moment, Lin Xian saw the street exit ahead. On the balcony of the second floor, a tower-like silhouette was poised and ready!

    Lou Ye!

“Be careful! This thing can spray acid from a distance!”

He ran at full speed, reminding him at the same time.

    Ah!!!

The three-headed spider monster rapidly approached from the high wall, continuously spraying black blood from its mouth. It landed behind Lin Xian and on the walls he passed, making a scalp-numbing corrosive sound.

    “Die!”

Just as it was approaching Lin Xian, Dalou leaped out. Holding the Steel-Cleaving Greatsword, he let out a low roar and swung his blade!

    Swish!

The three-headed spider monster clearly didn’t expect Dalou’s appearance. The huge cold light flashed past, instantly severing two of its heads. The remaining head was also cut by a third.

    Squelch!

In that instant, a huge amount of black blood burst out from the spider monster’s body, splashing towards Dalou.

Lin Xian, who was rushing over, had already anticipated this. He had already quickly created an iron wall and pushed it up, blocking Dalou and the bursting black blood. At the same time, he pulled the fallen Dalou and rolled away.

    Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle~

For efficiency, Lin Xian had used the most common thin iron sheet to make the wall, just to block that instant of black blood.

Soon, the corrosive black blood had corroded several large holes in the thin wall.

    “That was close!”

Lin Xian and Dalou rolled up. Without pausing, they both raised their machine guns and fired a burst at the spider monster behind the iron sheet wall.

    Rat-a-tat-tat!!

The firepower in the dark alley was fierce. The muzzle flashes almost illuminated half the alley. Under the barrage of countless bullets, the three-headed spider monster’s only remaining head let out a series of miserable howls.

“Don’t be careless! Empty the magazines!”

Lin Xian roared. This thing’s sudden appearance from above was truly strange. Who knew if it had any backup plans? Now that they had the upper hand, the two of them directly suppressed it with firepower, giving the other party no chance to breathe.

    Click, click, click!

Soon, Lin Xian had emptied the automatic rifle’s magazine. Without a word, he dropped the gun and raised both hands, his left hand gathering a wind gun and his right hand a power surge!

    Swish, swish, swish!

    Whoosh~ Sizzle!

Wind guns shot out, and electric light exploded!

When facing anomalies in the dark, don’t hesitate. Who knew if something with three heads had three lives?!

Lin Xian and Dalou fired continuously for more than a minute until the machine gun magazine in Dalou’s hand was also completely empty. Only then did the two of them stop.

The gunshots echoed continuously in the narrow, empty alley.

    Hoo~ Hoo~

The two of them panted heavily. Seeing that the black shadow on the ground was no longer moving, Lin Xian took out his flashlight and shone it over.

Not far in front of them, the three-headed spider monster had been almost beaten into a pulp. The thin iron plate Lin Xian had placed on top of it was making a sizzling, corrosive sound.

Black blood flowed all over the ground and soon devoured the iron plate completely, which made one frown.

    “It’s dead, right…”

Lin Xian glanced at it. The gunshots had already attracted the sound of many zombies.

He made a decisive decision, covered his mouth and nose, and walked forward to investigate.

At this moment, a visible wisp of black gas appeared in the beam of the flashlight. Lin Xian was immediately overjoyed, and the rustling, crying sound began to appear in his ears.

Sure enough, on the ground where the black gas gathered, a crimson bead appeared.

This bead was the same size as the one he had traded for at the bonfire. Worried that it was contaminated with corrosive black blood, Lin Xian created a long metal clamp and a simple iron box out of thin air, picked up the Anomaly Blood Crystal from the ground, and then said, “This thing is really troublesome.”

The situation just now was truly dangerous!

Lin Xian looked at the black blood on the ground, frowned, and retreated. If this thing touched you, you would rot a layer of skin even if you didn’t die. It could even corrode steel.

A fishy smell also hit him. Lin Xian accidentally inhaled a little and immediately felt his head grow heavy. His internal organs were churned together, and he almost dry-heaved.

    “Quick, get away!”

Lin Xian signaled to Dalou. The two of them didn’t linger and hurriedly climbed into the off-road vehicle amidst the howls of the zombies in the dark. The engine roared as they sped out of the city.

    Vroom!

The engine roared, and the light from the off-road vehicle was continuously swallowed by the darkness ahead.

    “These anomalies are too strange…”

In the passenger seat, Lin Xian opened the iron box and looked at the Anomaly Blood Crystal inside, his face ugly.

“They seem to be able to sense our existence. Sometimes they always appear in the place closest to you.”

At first, he thought that there might be some kind of nest in the dark, and at night, those strange monsters would come out of the nest.

But strangely, during the day, he couldn’t see any nests. They always appeared in front of Lin Xian for no reason.

Several times, if it weren’t for Lin Xian’s timely reaction, he would have already met his maker.

“Can they teleport?” Dalou asked, driving, with some lingering fear.

“If they could teleport, how could I have escaped?” Lin Xian shook his head. “It’s just that these things always appear too unusually, without any warning, not even footsteps.”

“It’s as if these things… have always been by your side.”

Saying this, Lin Xian suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He glanced at Dalou, but his peripheral vision seemed to catch a glimpse of an inexplicable red. Then his pupils constricted, and he immediately looked at the rearview mirror.

In the rearview mirror, a woman in a red dress was sitting in the back seat of the off-road vehicle. The woman’s hair was disheveled, and she was sitting strangely in the middle, her entire face in the black shadow.

Lin Xian was immediately startled and turned his head abruptly, only to find that there was nothing in the back seat.

Dalou noticed his strange behavior and also looked at the rearview mirror.

    “What’s wrong, Brother Xian?”

Lin Xian looked at the empty back seat, his expression grave. “Something’s not right.”

    Sizzle…

    Sizzle…

At this moment, a strange electric current sound was heard.

The walkie-talkie in Lin Xian’s hand suddenly began to make a sound, but Lin Xian hadn’t pressed any buttons. The car instantly fell silent, and both of their gazes fell on the walkie-talkie at the same time.

    “Sizzle… sizzle”

    “Happy… sizzle… Happy…”

    “Sizzle… Happy… birth… day… to… you…”

From the walkie-talkie, that hoarse, strange humming sound was heard.
