Chapter Index

In the dim car, the lights gradually grew faint and hazy.

The light seemed unable to pierce the darkness. As fear grew in Lin Xian’s heart, even the light itself was being devoured.

Lin Xian’s forehead was covered in cold sweat. Amidst the endless fear, he desperately held onto his last shred of sanity.

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

    Something was definitely wrong.

What was wrong? Where was it wrong?

    What did I notice?

    Pitter-patter, pitter-patter.

The sound of footsteps echoed from the depths of the darkness.

    “Who’s there!”

Lin Xian gripped the forged steel blade in his hand, cold sweat pouring down like rain.

The corridor grew darker and darker. Lin Xian could no longer see what was appearing ahead.

    No one answered.

But Lin Xian felt that someone was standing in the darkness right in front of him.

A cold, sinister aura washed over him.

    Hoo~ Hoo~

Lin Xian’s heart pounded wildly. He knew danger was approaching.

He rubbed his eyes, trying his best to see clearly what was ahead.

    But he couldn’t see anything.

    “I can’t see. Why can’t I see?”

In the darkness, a pale white hand suddenly appeared in his line of sight.

Lin Xian’s expression changed drastically. He tightened his grip on the steel blade and immediately raised his hand.

But just as he was about to strike, he suddenly stopped.

Because he discovered that on the back of that hand, there were traces of frostbite.

    Can ghosts get frostbite?

Lin Xian admired himself. Just as his sanity was about to collapse, his mind suddenly asked himself such a strange question.

But it was precisely this question that pulled his sanity back from the brink and quickly cooled it down!

    He knew what was wrong!

Lin Xian’s expression turned sharp. He suddenly reached out, grabbed the severed finger that was stuck to his hand, and gritted his teeth, ripping it off!

    Hiss~

The immense tearing pain almost made him pass out.

He gasped for breath, his chest heaving. He raised his left hand again, but this time he completely ignored the ghostly figure in the darkness before him. Instead, he aimed the bloody stump of his severed finger at the… radio on the sofa!

    Wind Cannon!

    Bang!

A sonic boom erupted. The black radio placed on the sofa was suddenly sent flying, crack~ crack!!! crackle!

But strangely, Lin Xian’s powerful Wind Cannon didn’t shatter the radio. When struck, the radio suddenly emitted a strange mechanical sound, the frequency display on it flashing continuously. With a crisp click!, a bright silver object flew out.

The lights of the entire train suddenly burst with a strong glare, as if from a power surge, illuminating all the passages and corridors.

And at that moment, the dark figure in front of Lin Xian was illuminated.

The dark figure before him revealed its true form.

This dark figure was none other than himself!

The ‘Lin Xian’ before him now wore a strange smile, his eyes staring at him motionlessly.

It sent a chill down his spine.

As the strong light appeared, ‘Lin Xian’ suddenly retreated quickly into the shadows, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, Lin Xian was so frightened that he immediately took a few steps back, sighing inwardly.

    “As I thought!”

    Hoo~ Hoo~

He panted heavily. He then raised his left hand and found that his finger was perfectly fine. He turned his head back; where was the little girl and the blood?

Lin Xian’s heart pounded wildly. He thought to himself, “If I had struck just now, would I have killed myself?”

It wasn’t just one thing that surprised him.

The glass marble in the dark, the female ghost in red in the car, the broken finger—these were all things Lin Xian had been afraid of since he was a child. But these things only caused him great fear and didn’t cause him any fatal harm. It was only when he mistakenly ‘slit’ Shasha’s throat that his mind was truly thrown into chaos.

Just as he was on the verge of collapse, a ghostly figure appeared before him. If he had lost his sanity and was left with only the instinct for survival, he would definitely have fought back immediately.

Then he might have killed ‘himself’!

In addition, Lin Xian had noticed two other details.

Besides the frostbite on the figure’s hand being identical to his own, there was also the radio placed on the sofa.

The entire train was under the control of Lin Xian’s Mechanical Heart. Perhaps fear could block his senses, but it couldn’t block his Mechanical Heart.

The switch on that radio was clearly off, but the frequency light was on.

If it wasn’t his own Mechanical Heart controlling it, then it must be something else…

And in this strange space, something was releasing his fear!

    Clang, clang, clang~

The silver object fell to the ground, making a metallic sound.

Lin Xian’s gaze sharpened. He found that it was a silver antenna!

And strangely, the antenna seemed to have some kind of consciousness of its own. It quickly rolled forward on the ground, towards car 3.

    Tinkle, tinkle~

    This thing was haunted!

Lin Xian frowned and chased after it.

The things Lin Xian feared most were rapidly being made real at this moment. Once he realized this, he understood.

The strange marble, the female ghost in red, the exploded finger—they were all fake.

That strange radio did indeed possess some kind of supernatural power. It seemed to be broadcasting fear, releasing fear. It wanted Lin Xian to kill himself!

    Gurgle, gurgle~~~

The silver antenna quickly rolled towards the depths of the darkness. Then, with a ding, it hit a toolbox and stopped.

Lin Xian’s face turned grim, and he walked over quickly.

He took a step, and the hideous female ghost in red suddenly appeared out of thin air and pounced at him.

Lin Xian’s heart trembled, his face changed drastically, and he retreated in fear.

But this time, he forced himself to maintain his sanity and, steeling himself, faced it head-on.

    “Nice figure.”

Lin Xian gritted his teeth and reached out to touch the female ghost’s chest. The female ghost in red looked at him in terror and vanished in a panic.

    The same old trick!

After confirming his guess, Lin Xian’s heart was settled.

What supernatural power? It was all an illusion, just a terrifying mental hallucination!

Lin Xian took another step. A cutting machine flew past quickly, and then his neck broke. His vision spun as his head fell directly to the ground!

He walked over, picked up his own head, and held it behind his ‘self’ to examine it.

“So my back is this straight.”

Then, he put his head back on and walked forward again.

In the car ahead, a red light suddenly flashed. A huge wave of blood and countless heads rolled towards him!

Lin Xian waved his hand, and an ice shield appeared. He pushed the ice shield forward through the sea of blood and heads, casually grabbing a head and weighing it.

“Not bad, this melon is guaranteed to be ripe.”

The silver antenna continuously released the fears in Lin Xian’s heart, but since Lin Xian had already seen through it, how could he still be afraid?

At this moment, the lights in the car began to flicker strangely. The connection between the cars made a metallic whining sound, and the car doors began to move on their own.

    “Making such a fuss?”

Lin Xian walked to the toolbox, his eyes cold as he looked at the silver antenna on the ground.

“You ghostly thing, on this train, I am the master!”

With that, Lin Xian raised his right hand and, snap, snapped his fingers.

Swoosh! The Mechanical Heart vibrated. All the sun visors closed, the doors stopped moving, the lights stopped flickering, and the electric locomotive’s engine also started, keeping the entire train’s circuit running smoothly.

If he didn’t have the Mechanical Heart, he would have really been swallowed by this tide of fear, completely unable to distinguish between illusion and reality!

“I’d like to see what kind of demon you are.”

Lin Xian looked at the antenna and slowly squatted down. In that instant, countless ghostly figures, ghostly claws, skeletons, and bloody scenes swarmed before his eyes.

The crazier it became, the more Lin Xian felt that this thing was trying to stop him. So he directly ignored those images and reached out to pick it up.

    Swish!

When Lin Xian’s fingertips touched the silver antenna, those terrifying images instantly disappeared.

“It really is this thing causing trouble!”

Lin Xian picked up the antenna and found that it was the original one from his radio. It was cold to the touch and could be extended and retracted. But strangely, when Lin Xian held this silver antenna, he felt the scene before him flash strangely, and all the lights went out.

The entire train was swallowed by darkness.

What made his face change even more was that his spirit seemed to be rapidly being drained by the surrounding environment!

    What’s going on?!

Lin Xian got up and suddenly heard a noise behind him. He turned around and shone his flashlight. His face immediately changed drastically!

Just a short distance behind him in the corridor, a white monster with two ears was standing there, blood dripping from its mouth. And in its arms, it was holding a girl, seemingly devouring something!

And the girl in the monster’s arms, he was extremely familiar with.

    KIKI.
