Chapter 125: Upgrade Log
by SunflowerIn the snowy plains, a large headlight on the roof of the Infinity train lit up. By its light, Lin Xian began to service the Gemini 11R nuclear-powered electric locomotive.
When they charged out of the tunnel, the front of the train had become a mess from smashing through countless zombies and human anomalies. Lin Xian cleaned and repaired it slightly, then began to design armor for the entire locomotive.
“Towing it at the very back, it’s likely to encounter a lot of combat…”
Since leaving Jiang City, many battles had occurred at Car 5. Whether it was a chase or an encounter, it had become a disaster zone. Now, placing the nuclear locomotive at the very end was a helpless move.
The internal structure of this locomotive was precise. A 290-megawatt nuclear-powered DRX generator was protected by layers of shielding, along with various supporting equipment. Unlike the original Star-Ring 7F electric locomotive, it didn’t have a connecting corridor. Moreover, he could only place such a small nuclear facility at the very end, as he had to consider the safety of the entire train.
Lin Xian didn’t have much of a design concept; it was pure material stacking. He took out the large amount of forged inner armor steel he had obtained from devouring the heavy TFV600 twin-barreled tank and combined it with high-hardness tungsten steel to create a double-layer design.
The design configuration still used the tank’s armor layout. Lin Xian was developing in a purely wild way, using whatever he could.
This Gemini 11R nuclear-powered electric locomotive was 45 meters long. It was originally built by the former Federal Kehua Heavy Industries and met the standard for intercontinental trains. This trip deep into Underground City No. 9, if it weren’t for this thing, Lin Xian would have felt it was a huge loss. Fortunately, he got it, providing ample assurance for the train’s future energy supply.
Clank, clank, clank.
Lin Xian and Dalou were busy for nearly five hours and finally finished installing the armor on the nuclear locomotive and the No. 3 and 4 laboratory cars.
The current Infinity, including the front and rear power units, had a total of nine cars, with an overall length of nearly 300 meters. It lay across the dark snowy plains like a black behemoth.
“The train is getting bigger and bigger.”
Shasha ran from the rear car to the front car holding a can of food, exclaiming, “It’s almost turning into an aircraft carrier!”
The team members were currently eating in the dining area of Car 1. It was about an hour before dawn and departure, and everyone was making preparations.
“The Longshan aircraft carrier is 150,000 tons, the Hercules Sky Cruiser is 190,000 tons, the White Emperor No. 3 aerospace ship is 330,000 tons, and the sky city Qingluan is 960,000 tons. Ours is at most 1,500 tons, still far from an aircraft carrier…”
Kiki said with a grin, “But by the time we enter the Pacific Ocean, maybe we’ll be able to take off.”
Shasha’s mouth formed an ‘O’.
“That jellyfish can fly too. If we fly, will we crash into it?” Dalou, who was usually quiet, suddenly interjected.
Lin Xian shrugged helplessly. “There are monsters underground and monsters in the sky. The best way is to be able to both run on the ground and fly in the sky. When forced, we might even have to dive into the deep ocean…”
Speaking of this, Lin Xian couldn’t help but wonder, if jellyfish could fly in the sky, what kind of monsters would be in the deep ocean…
“By the way, Shasha.”
Lin Xian brought out a metal box, which was surprisingly filled with the VOG-25 40mm grenade rounds he had made, a full 50 of them.
“Wow!” Shasha’s eyes lit up. “So many.”
Lin Xian smiled and handed the grenade launcher to Shasha. “When we encounter monsters later, don’t spare the shells. Blast them to your heart’s content!”
Kiki looked at him curiously. “Hey, Lin Xian, when are you going to build that Type 1130? Let me have some fun.”
“That won’t be so fast.” Lin Xian looked embarrassed.
It wasn’t that easy to build a Type 1130. First, the phased array and fire control radar lacked some rare earth materials, which needed to be converted by the Fabrication Center. Second, he had to consider how to integrate it with the train. It wasn’t as simple as just crafting it and putting it on the roof.
Because Lin Xian himself lacked knowledge of machinery and weapons, without blueprints, he could only design simple door panels, armor, and cold weapons, and they weren’t precise.
The Research Center, from what he could see so far, could only upgrade specific equipment blueprints and couldn’t design something for his needs out of thin air. Kiki was good with systems, but she wasn’t good at designing these things either. For example, the water-oxygen circulation system, Kiki had looked up a lot of information but still hadn’t figured it out. According to her, if they had an AI system, they could design, maintain, and manage the entire train.
Kiki added, “And also, mechs! If you can build one, your mechanical ability will definitely be even more powerful.”
Lin Xian actually thought so too. Now that he had the Fabrication Plant, plus his abilities in mechanical manufacturing and driving, if he could have an external combat suit, he could greatly unleash the power of his Mechanical Heart.
Chen Sixuan was a little silent at this moment. Listening to them discuss various weapon configurations, she felt a little uneasy. She was the only one here without the ability to kill enemies, which gave her a strange sense of pressure. So she thought about continuing to learn about firearms from Shasha in her spare time. Maybe it would be useful after entering Yubei City.
After adjustments, Lin Xian had opened side armor doors on Car 1 and Car 5, which could be opened directly for entry and exit. He had originally planned to cut a large hole in Car 5 and make a large lifting door for loading and unloading cargo.
However, this plan could only be added to Lin Xian’s [Infinity] subsequent upgrade plan for now.
Lin Xian took out the upgrade log he had made for the train and added another entry…
1. Planting Car (growing vegetables, fruits, water-oxygen cycle, enriching life) (Completed, awaiting planting!)
2. Entertainment Area, for playing games and watching movies during breaks (Shelved, no time to even escape, PASS for now)
3. Sentry System, proposed by Kiki, for external monitoring and early warning for the whole train (To be completed, front radar system is done for now)
4. Ice-breaking Shield, for breaking through zombie hordes and shoveling snow (Completed, very perfect, master-level design!!)
5. Storage Refrigerator (X) Heating Equipment (√) It’s freezing cold.
6. Drone Reconnaissance System (Captured two, enough for now)
7. Power Generation Equipment, providing circulating energy (Star-Ring 7F electric locomotive X, updated to a Gemini 11R nuclear-powered electric locomotive, endurance MAX!!)
8. Medical Equipment (None for now, manual bandaging)
9. Industrial Exoskeleton (None for now X Humanoid Crane: Kiki √)
10. Track Laying Device (None for now. Humanoid Track Laying Device: Me, Kiki, Dalou √)
11. Repair System (Me)
12. Modify the GK electric knife’s blade and install it on the train’s external armor (Unfinished)
13. Water Purifier (Completed, don’t know what kind of tech it is, using it for now)
14. Modify Car 5 with a loading/unloading door (Requires lifting plate, tractor)…

19. Service Robot X Combat Robot √ (To be acquired)…
…
At 15:56, the dark sky suddenly cleared, and the snowy plains were a dazzling white.
Lin Xian put away the log, activated his Mechanical Heart to check the entire train. After a busy night, the Infinity was ready to continue its journey towards Yubei City.
“Such thick snow…”
In the cockpit, Chen Sixuan looked at the thick snowy plains ahead with a worried expression.
“The snow has stopped, which is good news at least.” Lin Xian released the brakes. The Infinity’s engine, now with ample power support, roared, driving the heavy train to start moving. The ice-breaking shield on the front of the train pushed aside the accumulated snow as it slowly moved forward.
