Chapter Index

Yubei City Airport No. 1, the battle was fierce!

Outside the gates and high walls of each area, a dense mass of nighttime monsters and zombies swarmed in, as if the entire city of Yubei had poured out, all rushing towards this final airport.

    *BWOOM! BOOM!*

Several dazzling blue lights pierced the dark night, shooting towards the sky above the airport. A dozen enormous, sky-blotting jellyfish drifted in. With the roar of the anti-aircraft weapons, a large number of jellyfish tentacles continuously fell, some landing among the survivor convoys, causing numerous casualties.

“It’s over… it’s over, we can’t hold them back,” a survivor cried in despair.

“The ascension elevator isn’t fixed yet, is there anywhere else we can run?”

    “Run!!”

“We’ll die no matter where we run! Let’s fight them! Hold them back!!”

“Has anyone seen my son? Please, has anyone seen my son?!”

The plaza was in chaos. A large number of children hid in the vehicles, crying. Many people began to pick up their remaining weapons and rush to the defense line.

    *Rat-a-tat-tat! Rat-a-tat-tat!*

    *BANG!*

In Area A, Dalou’s sister Shasha’s face was trembling as she continuously pulled grenade rounds from her backpack and loaded them into her gun. This was the first time she had faced such a terrifying zombie siege. Her lips were now colorless, but her hands kept firing towards the accumulating zombie horde.

High above, a fierce wind raged. Jiang Yun whipped up a small-scale hurricane and sent it towards the sky jellyfish, like a wall of wind blocking these aerial monsters from flying into the port.

    “God’s Fire Lance!”

Lu Xingchen, with his hands formed into sword fingers, continuously shot out jets of white flame, piercing through a human-shaped anomaly covered in tentacles and igniting a raging fire on the high wall.

    *Rat-a-tat-tat!*

The M556 light machine gun in Dalou’s hands had also run out of bullets. After emptying the magazine, he directly pulled out the steel-slaying greatsword from his back and threw it with a powerful heave!

    *Swoosh!*

The heavy steel sword, like a meteor, directly pierced a black strange insect that had pounced in front of Shasha, pinning it to the wall. Dalou rushed over, stomped on the strange insect’s head, and pulled out the greatsword, holding it in front of Shasha.

    “Brother, be careful!”

    Shasha warned.

Without a ranged weapon, the danger was even greater. Shasha hid behind Dalou, continuously firing grenade rounds.

    *BANG! BANG!*

“B-class anomaly detected!” an Iron Guard information soldier shouted loudly. Just as he finished speaking, a spider leg descended from the sky and pierced him through the head.

    “It’s a Mist Spider!”

*Rat-a-tat-tat!* In an instant, all cannons fired in unison.

The Mist Spider, shrouded in a thick fog, appeared on the high wall without anyone noticing.

    “Argh!”

Dalou let out a muffled grunt, swung his greatsword, and charged forward. With two horizontal slashes, he severed two of the Mist Spider’s legs. *BANG!* A grenade round from Shasha, in perfect coordination with her brother, hit the torso within the fog. The Mist Spider, unstable, staggered and fell, its terrifying green form revealed from within the mist.

    *Swish!*

A transparent spear shot out, directly piercing the Mist Spider’s abdomen. A large amount of internal organs poured out.

Ren Huiyan shouted sharply, “The Mist Spider is not B-class, be on guard!”

Just as she finished speaking, on the high wall shrouded in the Mist Spider’s fog, a black silhouette covered in tentacles instantly appeared in everyone’s sight. A sticky, watery sound was heard, and four or five brownish-red, slender arms, like long-legged insects, suddenly shot out from the fog.

The soldiers on the high wall were caught off guard and were pierced one after another, skewered like kebabs, four or five of them lifted into the air, screaming慘烈ly.

One of them swept across, *crash*, taking down a large number of people, including Lu Xingchen.

Seeing this, Shasha’s eyes widened. She hurriedly prepared to reload again. In her panic, her small bag of grenade rounds fell to the ground, and a dozen rounds scattered everywhere. Anxiously, she immediately crawled on the ground to pick them up.

    *Whoosh~*

At this moment, two more tentacles shot out. One reached towards the sky, attempting to stab Jiang Yun who was floating in the air, while the other shot rapidly towards Shasha.

This anomaly’s attacks were all aimed at high-threat, vital targets, and it was even hiding in the Mist Spider’s fog!

Jiang Yun, in the air, saw this and his face turned cold. Facing the incoming tentacle, he directly swung his leg, and a silver-white wind blade accurately slashed at it. At the same time, he shouted!

    “Huiyan, protect Shasha!”

    *Clang!*

The wind blade struck the long-legged insect’s limb, producing the sound of metal clashing. Countless fine hairs were cut off. The long leg, which looked soft, was actually harder than the red giant insect’s shell. Jiang Yun’s wind blade only managed to cut off some flesh but failed to sever it!

Below, Ren Huiyan’s expression changed rapidly. *Swish, swish*, two transparent spears blasted against the long leg heading for Shasha. The air pressure exploded, but it failed to stop its piercing momentum.

    “Damn it!”

“Ah!” Shasha, who was picking up a pile of grenade rounds from the ground, saw the long leg coming rapidly towards her from the fog. Her expression froze, and her pupils contracted in terror!

    *Pfft!*

Just then, a towering figure suddenly appeared, blocking her path, but his chest was brutally pierced by the tentacle!

    “Brother!”

Shasha cried out in alarm, and the grenade rounds in her hands clattered to the ground.

Dalou’s hands were now tightly gripping the long leg, trying to stop it, but he was being pushed back towards Shasha by the immense force.

“Hah!” Blood spurted from Dalou’s chest, dyeing his hands red. Blood was also flowing from his mouth and nostrils, but he gritted his teeth fiercely, gripped the long leg, then sank his waist and pulled back with all his might.

The long-legged monster was instantly pulled out of the thick fog by this immense force. In an instant, a large anomaly resembling an alien leech appeared in everyone’s sight, its entire body covered in constantly writhing tentacles, its strength immense!

    “You’re courting death!!!”

Seeing his teammate get hurt, Lu Xingchen lost his previous crazed expression. His face changed drastically, his eyes filled with a burning killing intent. He immediately leaped out, his feet wreathed in flames, and a pillar of fire descended from the sky.

    “God’s Setting Sun Flame!”

    *BOOM!*

The explosive flames instantly illuminated the entire Area A plaza, and the soaring blaze completely enveloped the tentacle monster.

    *Screech, screech~!!!*

The tentacle monster let out a painful shriek. Its tentacles swept around, sending ammunition boxes and cars flying. It thrashed wildly, trying to break out of the flames and charge into the crowd.

But one of its tentacles was now held fast by Dalou. At this moment, a small tornado appeared, engulfing the flames and trapping it.

    Jiang Yun!

The wind intensified the burning of the flames. The intense heat spread outwards, forcing everyone to retreat.

    “Ah!!!!”

Dalou spat out blood, holding onto the monster with all his might, roasting it in the flaming hurricane. In just a moment, a scorched smell filled the air. Soon, the tentacle monster in the flames began to stiffen, its torso turning black. The frequency of its writhing decreased, and after a moment, it stopped moving.

    *Pfft.*

Dalou gave a sharp pull, yanking the sharp, long-legged tentacle out of his chest. An intense wave of blood loss and the feeling of life draining away washed over him. He knelt on the ground, coughing up blood.

“Brother!!” Shasha threw herself at him, her small face filled with terror, her voice choked with sobs as she looked at Dalou. “Brother, how are you? Does it hurt?!”

    *Gurgle…*

Dalou opened his mouth, which was full of blood foam. He looked at her with an unwilling expression. “Shasha… brother… I…”

Shasha was terrified and cried out loudly, “Brother, no, don’t die!! I’m begging you! *Sob, sob, sob*…”

Jiang Yun, Ren Huiyan, and Lu Xingchen rushed over, their expressions heavy as they watched the scene.

A pierced chest. A fatal wound like that was almost impossible to survive.

Too many people had died tonight. It seemed that in the face of death, everyone had become somewhat numb.

Lu Xingchen’s face was full of complexity. Lin Xian had clearly told him to protect his teammates, but this was the result.

He had drifted alone through most of the Tianhai Province, not daring to truly befriend any companions, because this was the scene he feared most.

Just as he was filled with self-blame, his peripheral vision suddenly caught something. The muscles and blood vessels on Dalou’s body were slowly glowing with a crimson light. A large amount of blood energy began to converge on him. Even the black smoke from the charred monster was being absorbed.

    “He… he!”

Lu Xingchen’s expression changed drastically, and he cried out, “Shasha, get back! Your brother’s ability… it seems to be evolving!!”
