Chapter Index

    Buzz, buzz, buzz~

On the Yubei City freight tracks, a heavy train slowly pulled out, followed by a dark mass of heavy trucks and off-road vehicles, heading majestically towards Yubei City’s Airport No. 1.

After passing through a valley, the main urban area appeared in everyone’s sight. As night was about to fall, the entire city of Yubei was submerged in a gray-black silence, looking heavy and desolate.

As the starting city for Airport No. 1, Yubei City was the largest industrial and freight port city in the southwest before the apocalypse. The city was highly developed and hailed as the pearl of Tianhai Province.

To enter the Star-Ring Orbit from Tianhai Province, one had to pass through Yubei City’s Airport No. 1. The sky-rail pillars that once boosted the city’s output value and economy now stood continuously on the Dazhu Plateau like the city’s tombstones. The cold wind was bleak, and the whistling sound from under the horizon seemed to be singing a dirge for humanity.

On both sides of the tracks, zombies began to appear sporadically. The roar of the train and cars whizzed by, and these zombies started to give chase.

Gradually, more and more zombies joined the chase. However, these convoys seemed to have grown accustomed to such scenes. They maintained their formation along the way, no one opened fire, and no vehicles fell behind, maintaining a very good discipline.

Lin Xian watched the convoy following behind through the onboard camera of the nuclear locomotive, feeling a sense of melancholy.

It seemed that the convoys that had survived were not to be trifled with. What surprised him, however, was that Old Mo, Shu Qin, and Xu Jin’s convoys possessed a considerable number of anomaly blood crystals. He wondered if they had hidden experts among them.

After all, the anomalies he had encountered were…

“It seems I really need more manpower. If there were a hundred people on the train, each equipped with a grenade launcher, wouldn’t that be a powerful bombing company?”

At this thought, Lin Xian’s heart was stirred. With his arsenal-like metahuman system, building a heavy-firepower convoy was indeed a viable survival plan.

Just as Lin Xian was secretly planning and about to take out his upgrade log, the scene that came into view made his expression freeze.

As the train moved forward and entered the urban area, the sides of the tracks were blocked by high walls and barbed wire fences. However, on the roads and streets beyond the fences, a dense crowd of heads was moving. From a distance, it looked like a flowing black tide of people.

    Argh!!!!

The sound of the vibration triggered the roars of the zombies.

Shu Qin, Xu Jin, Old Mo, and the others behind also saw this scene, and their faces changed slightly.

    A city-wide zombie tide!

“Attention, do not open fire, do not open fire! Follow the Infinity closely and don’t fall behind!” In the walkie-talkie, Xu Jin reminded everyone in a cold voice.

With such a massive zombie tide, once it breached the tracks or the convoy was scattered, unless it was a heavy truck, ordinary off-road vehicles would find it difficult to advance before being overwhelmed by the surging tide of zombies.

The further they went into the city, the more zombies there were in the surrounding streets, spreading out as if they were on every street.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

Just as the convoy was steadily advancing, a series of explosions suddenly sounded from far to near in the distant city streets.

At the same time, continuous gunfire and the roar of engines also echoed in the streets.

Lin Xian’s gaze swept over. He saw that the dense crowd of zombies wandering in the streets far to the right of the convoy seemed to be stimulated by the sound and rushed towards a certain direction.

The scene then became strange. The zombies near the convoy rushed towards the barbed wire fences and high walls of the tracks, while the zombies in the distance rushed towards the louder explosions.

“It seems there’s a convoy fighting over there,” Shu Qin’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.

Xu Jin’s voice was calm. “Everyone, stay alert. It doesn’t affect us for now. Don’t break formation.”

“Send the drones out to take a look.”

Lin Xian said to Kiki through the internal channel. Kiki, on the other end, was very in sync. Two drones took off immediately, following the train as they headed towards the distant streets.

    Rat-a-tat-tat!!

The sound of gunfire, various impacts, and braking grew closer. Soon, the drones sent back images.

“I see it. There’s a large convoy, but they’re not fleeing. They’re chasing another convoy!” Kiki’s tone was surprised.

    A chase?

In this environment of a city-wide zombie tide, what kind of hatred was so great that they had to attack each other at this time?

Lin Xian immediately shared the information on the convoy channel.

Shu Qin, in the truck behind, heard this and sensed something was wrong. She also had her convoy’s drone take off and approach.

Looking at the images of cars constantly appearing at the street intersection, Shu Qin’s expression changed immediately. She picked up the walkie-talkie and shouted, “I recognize that car! That large convoy is the Black Crow Four!”

As soon as she said this, Xu Jin and Old Mo were also startled. Even Lu Xingchen in his RV stopped whistling. He continued driving while glancing towards the distant streets.

“Didn’t you say they only had four people and four cars?” Lin Xian frowned at this moment.

“I don’t know. Maybe they absorbed other convoys and grew stronger. But a few of the cars do have the Black Crow Four’s paint job.”

    “What’s wrong?” Chen Sixuan asked.

“It’s that group we heard about on the radio,” Lin Xian replied.

Chen Sixuan looked worried. “We’re already here. Aren’t they worried that other survivor organizations and the Phoenix Society will deal with them?”

“Yubei City has already fallen. I estimate that apart from the airport, no one can control anything in other places.”

Lin Xian didn’t know what those lunatics were thinking, specializing in killing metahumans. Could it be that they wanted to enhance their own abilities this way?

“We have so many people here now. They probably won’t attack us, right?”

Lin Xian’s face turned cold. “We’ll see if they come over. If they dare to come over…”

    “Then we’ll strike first!”

Although the current priority was to get to the airport, when Lin Xian learned that this was the group that had driven the zombie tide to try and wipe them out, he wouldn’t be able to sleep soundly until this score was settled.

Especially after hearing from Shu Qin that there was a metahuman who could drive zombies. If such an ability belonged to one of their own, it would be an absolute superweapon. But it belonged to a group of villains, which made this ability an absolute disaster for them!

“Dalou, Shasha, stay alert! Kid, if anyone charges the formation, take them out directly!”

“Roger, roger!” From a distant car, Shasha’s voice came through the walkie-talkie.

    “Alrighty!”

In Car 2, Kiki sat cross-legged on a stool, a smile on her face, occasionally floating up and down unsteadily, seeming to enjoy her newly evolved ability.

“Captain Lin, if that group discovers us, they will most likely attack directly.”

Shu Qin took out a black Remington M96 from behind her seat, her face filled with killing intent. “They are a bunch of complete lunatics!”

Lin Xian watched the fog in the city gradually thicken, his expression also turning fierce. He said into the walkie-talkie, “I know. It’s getting foggy ahead. Everyone, maintain formation for now. I’ll keep an eye on them!”

“A fight, huh? Then let us old folks help out too,” Old Mo’s bright voice came through the walkie-talkie.

“Good!” Xu Jin looked at the distant street with a cold expression, picked up the walkie-talkie, and notified all vehicles to prepare for battle.
