Chapter Index

    “Cluck, cluck, cluck!”

    “Big hen, don’t run!”

    “Cluck, cluck, cluck!!”

    “Don’t run~”

In the courtyard, Yaya spread her small arms and moved her short legs, chasing a hen that was flapping its wings and flying about in a panic. A fluffy, snow-white fox tail swayed behind Yaya.

She chased it from east to west and back again. Chicken feathers were scattered all over the ground, and a few even landed on Yaya’s head.

Just as Yaya managed to hug the big hen, a loud boom suddenly came from the distance.

    Boom!

A clap of thunder resounded through the sky. Yaya was so startled that her fur seemed to stand on end, and ripples of fright pulsed through her body.

“Brother Lin!” Letting go of the big hen, Yaya stretched out her arms and ran toward the kitchen, crying as she went.

A moment later, Lin Xun walked out of the kitchen carrying Yaya. Her small arms tightly hugged Lin Xun’s neck, and her little head was buried deep in his shoulder.

Looking at the large dark cloud in the distance and the agitation of spiritual energy, Lin Xun was also taken aback. “Good heavens, is Nong Qin about to undergo her tribulation?”

    “Undergoing Tribulation?” Yaya asked softly.

“Yes.” Lin Xun patted Yaya’s head. “That sound just now was the Lightning Tribulation. If Yaya cultivates in the future, you will encounter it too.”

“Thunder is so scary. Yaya doesn’t want to cultivate.”

“It’s actually not that scary. Big Brother is here.”

“Mm!” Shrinking her small body into Lin Xun’s arms, Yaya squeezed her little pink fists. “With Brother Lin here, Yaya isn’t afraid.”

Lin Xun smiled and rubbed Yaya’s head. Yaya squinted her eyes, and the fluffy fox ears on her head rubbed against Lin Xun’s palm like a little kitten.

However, Lin Xun looked up at the dark clouds in the distance again, intending to put Yaya down at any moment and rush toward the site of the Lightning Tribulation.

Because Nong Qin was only at the Middle Stage of the Golden Core Realm last time, this seclusion was definitely meant to push for the Late Stage of the Golden Core Realm. Yet, this Lightning Tribulation was for the Nascent Soul Realm.

Nong Qin must have accidentally reached Golden Core Perfection, and her Breakthrough into the Nascent Soul Realm was a complete accident.

The Nascent Soul Realm tribulation is a matter of life and death. Undergoing it without preparation can lead to a major disaster. He had to go and help.

Although his strength was far from what it used to be, he could still manage to disperse a Nascent Soul Realm Lightning Tribulation.

However, the dark clouds in the distance soon began to slowly dissipate, and the rhythm of the Dao between heaven and earth gradually vanished.

This surprised Lin Xun even more.

Did Nong Qin suppress her own Realm?

To forcibly suppress one’s Realm right when the tribulation is about to begin and back out at the last minute requires extremely strong willpower.

Was that little girl, who once sat on the ground crying like a duck after being scared by a Demonic Beast, actually this strong?

Well, as long as she’s fine.

“Alright, it’s over now. Yaya, stop playing too. Big Brother is going to use this big hen, okay?”

Lin Xun, relieved for Nong Qin, plucked the few feathers from Yaya’s head, set her on the ground, and walked toward the big hen.

“Brother Lin—” Before Lin Xun could take a step, Yaya’s small, tangerine-sized hand grabbed the corner of his clothes.

    “Hmm?”

“Brother Lin, please don’t eat the big hen, okay? The big hen is very pitiful.”

Looking at Yaya’s shimmering eyes, her pleading expression made Lin Xun’s heart soften instantly.

Crouching down, Lin Xun patted Yaya’s head. “In that case, we won’t eat the big hen.”

    “Really?”

“Really,” Lin Xun said with a smile. “But Yaya, we’re out of soy sauce. Could you go buy a bottle for Big Brother?”

    “Mm!”

    “Good girl.”

Lin Xun put some money into Yaya’s small Storage Pouch and added some self-defense Magical Artifacts he had made. If Yaya encountered any danger, he would be able to sense it immediately.

Having saved her hen friend and being able to help her Big Brother, Yaya skipped off happily to buy the soy sauce.

However, by the time she returned with the soy sauce, the big hen was gone.

In its place on the dining table were fragrant stewed chicken soup, stir-fried free-range chicken, and honey-glazed chicken legs.

Yaya shouted, “Brother Lin is a big liar!” while tearfully eating three large bowls.

After lunch, Yaya was tired from crying (and full from eating). She fell fast asleep in Lin Xun’s arms, her little mouth constantly mumbling, “Big hen… I’m sorry… but big hen… is so delicious…”

Lin Xun smiled and pinched Yaya’s nose before carrying her back to her room.

After locking the courtyard gate, he remained worried that something had happened to Nong Qin. To be safe, he hurried toward the center where the thunderclouds had vanished.

On a deserted hilltop north of Luo City, a woman with an exceedingly voluptuous figure slowly opened her eyes.

Feeling the flow of spiritual energy in her body, the voluptuous woman hadn’t expected that while she only intended to enter the Late Stage of the Golden Core Realm, she had nearly charged into the Nascent Soul Realm.

Jiang Nongqin knew that without any preparation, it would have been almost impossible for her to survive the Lightning Tribulation. She would have surely perished.

In that critical moment, the young woman thought about how she hadn’t warmed the bed for Your Highness yet, hadn’t fed Your Highness yet, and most importantly, hadn’t confessed her feelings to Your Highness!

And what if Your Highness had a little bit of affection for her and was willing to take her as a concubine? Then she could bear a Little Highness for him.

At the thought of this, all sorts of reluctance surged in her heart, and she forcibly suppressed her Realm, causing the thunderclouds to recede.

    “Your Highness.”

To forcibly suppress her Realm, the girl had used up all her strength. She leaned weakly against the stone wall of the cave.

Sweat had already soaked her clothes, and her dress clung to her skin, outlining her figure.

However, the backlash of spiritual energy was painful, and her mental state had reached its limit. She felt as if she would faint at any moment.

“No… I have to go see Your Highness…”

The weaker she became, the clearer Lin Xun’s image appeared in Jiang Nongqin’s mind.

The way Your Highness stood in front of her when they were children.

The way she watched Your Highness’s back every time he left.

The warm sense of security when she pressed tightly against Your Highness’s back because she was afraid of mice.

Especially thinking that Sister Qinger hadn’t returned yet, Your Highness might be alone in the courtyard, and she could have him all to herself.

Biting her red lips, Jiang Nongqin stood up and walked out of the cave.

    “Your Highness.”

Her vision was blurred and her head was heavy. Relying entirely on the conviction in her heart, Jiang Nongqin moved forward step by step, softly whispering the name that was more important than her life.

    “Your Highness.”

Finally, the completely exhausted girl’s eyelids closed gently. Her consciousness vanished entirely, and she fell forward.

“Whoops, that was close, that was close.”

Just as Jiang Nongqin was about to roll down the hillside—with even her chest unable to act as a brake—Lin Xun appeared just in time. The girl’s entire body fell softly into his arms.

“Good thing I got here in time,” Lin Xun let out a sigh of relief.

Lin Xun muttered to himself that this was unavoidable and not because he was being indecent. Then he picked Nong Qin up in a princess carry. “Hey, Miss Jiang? Miss Jiang?”

“Your Highness… Nong Qin… Nong Qin…” the unconscious Nong Qin murmured softly.

“Miss Jiang, what did you say?” Lin Xun leaned down to listen.

“Nong Qin… Nong Qin can play the zither for Your Highness, can… can dance for Your Highness.

Nong Qin is willing to do anything for Your Highness…

Please don’t leave Nong Qin behind, okay… Your Highness…”
