Chapter Index

    “Clack, clack, clack, clack.”

A stone was thrown from the Dragon Lord’s hand, sliding continuously across the ice surface.

With every bit of progress the stone made on the ice of the Han River, the hearts of the soldiers on this side of the river leapt threefold! Everyone even forgot to breathe, their attention fixed solely on this stone representing a historic moment.

Finally, when that stone slid across the ice of the Han River and reached the opposite shore…

The minds of everyone on this side of the Han River went completely blank!

    It made it!

    This stone made it across!

After all these years! This stone actually made it across!

    “Aaaahhhh!!!!”

Following a brief silence, an eruption of fervent cheers broke out!

The soldiers of Dragon City hugged each other, some even with tears welling in their eyes, unable to believe this was all real!

    They suspected they were dreaming.

Watching the stone reach the opposite shore so smoothly, the Dragon Lord’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Her chest rose and fell gently, her eyes sparkling with light, she seemed incredibly excited!

Because before this, not a single person in the Wasteland could leave.

This Han River was like an insurmountable boundary.

No one could leave this Han River.

Not even a blade of grass, a tree, or a stone from the Wasteland could reach the opposite shore.

    But now, everything was different.

This Han River had now frozen over, and throwing a stone could already make it across!

Did this mean that now, even other creatures from the Wasteland could cross?

They had been in this Wasteland for who knows how many years!

At first, the earliest generations still carried the passion to leave this place, believing they could definitely depart and see the outside world.

But as time passed and generations changed, gradually, few held any confidence in leaving this place and venturing to the outside world.

More often, the various races in the Wasteland settled down stably here, even thinking that leaving this place for a whole new world outside was nothing but a lie.

    But now!

All of this! Perhaps was about to begin changing!

The Dragon Lord took her own steps, wanting to tread upon the ice of the Han River and walk towards the opposite shore.

    “Your Majesty! Please reconsider!”

“Yes, Your Majesty! Please do not risk your own life!”

“Let us go instead, please stay, Your Majesty!”

The soldiers of Dragon City all rushed to block the Dragon Lord’s path.

Although that stone successfully crossed the Han River, who could guarantee that living beings could cross?

Especially a being as powerful as their own master.

What if the ice cracked halfway? Then everything would be over!

Anyone from the Wasteland who falls into the Han River, no matter who they are or how high their Realm, it is utterly useless!

No one can pull a person from the Wasteland out!

And if something happened to their great king, Dragon City would certainly be lost!

How could they let their king risk her life?

“Please wait a moment, Your Majesty! This general will test it!”

A Headless Knight knelt on one knee before the Dragon Lord.

    “Hmm.”

    The Dragon Lord nodded.

The Dragon Lord was not afraid of death. If she were, her first thought wouldn’t have been to risk herself; she would have directly ordered her subordinates to cross the Han River.

Rather, the Dragon Lord knew she could not afford to die yet!

If she died, Dragon City would be annexed.

After annexation, what kind of treatment her people from the four Dragon Cities would suffer, she truly did not know.

With the Dragon Lord’s permission, this Headless Knight walked directly towards the Han River.

When this Headless Knight reached the riverbank, he was also extremely nervous.

Calming his excited heart, the Headless Knight bravely took the first step, placing his foot onto the Han River!

The moment this Headless Knight stood firmly upon the Han River, everyone held their breath.

Many even thought this fellow was done for.

    But…

One second. Two seconds. Three seconds…

    “OHHHHHHH!”

When the Headless Knight stood safely on the ice of the Han River, everyone cheered!

The Headless Knight also excitedly looked back at his great king.

Although this fellow had no head, everyone could feel his excitement!

The Dragon Lord nodded, and this fellow continued forward.

Beside the Han River, aside from the clacking sound of the Headless Knight’s steps on the ice, there was almost no other sound.

Everyone watched intently as the Headless Knight walked step by step towards the opposite shore!

    “Tap.”

    The final step!

That Headless Knight’s final step landed firmly on the land of the opposite shore.

The moment he fully stepped onto the bank, he even bounced up and down a few times in disbelief!

The Headless Knight turned his body, looking excitedly at the soldiers on the opposite shore.

    “Cross the river!”

Following the Dragon Lord’s command, and led by her, all the soldiers who had come to the Han River’s edge followed the Dragon Lord onto the ice.

The moment they stepped onto the Han River, to say their hearts held no tension would certainly be a lie!

But as they continued forward on the Han River, they felt each step become more and more steady.

In less than half the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, everyone had crossed the Han River.

The Dragon Lord turned around, looking at the path she had come from, feeling somewhat dazed for a moment.

Could she finally leave this place?

“Hei Jia.” The Dragon Lord called softly.

    “Your general is here!”

The soldier named Hei Jia, also the first man to risk his life, knelt on one knee before the Dragon Lord.

“Hei Jia, for his meritorious service in being the first to cross the river, is promoted from Battalion Commander to Legion Commander! Reward: three thousand Black Diamonds.”

    “Thank you, Your Majesty!”

“Return to the city and prepare! Notify the people of Dragon City, and today, establish a Reconnaissance Team to prepare for our departure from the Wasteland!”

    “Yes!” the entire army responded.

Everyone now wanted to leave this place and see what the outside world held.

But they also knew they were currently unprepared. What if there was danger outside?

So, first sending scouts to investigate the outside world was the most prudent action.

And on this very day the Dragon Lord crossed the Han River, the various city lords of the Wasteland all received the news through different channels!

In an instant, city lords from all over came to the Han River to verify, and the entire Wasteland plunged into a frenzied boil!

They knew, after so many years, they were finally free from this cage!
