Chapter Index

“Excuse me, Young Master, have we met before?”

A soft female voice drifted over slowly. Her voice was neither Qinger’s sweet arrogance nor Nong Qin’s charming elegance.

Her voice was beautiful, yet it gave people a sense of transcendence, like clear stream water that could cleanse the heart, or like a Buddha’s Light, illuminating the last shadows in one’s soul.

When she raised her head and her face fully entered Lin Xun’s sight, Lin Xun’s heart rate immediately shot up to the speed of sound; the Emperor Engine started wildly, practically drumming.

She was very beautiful. Wearing a plain white long dress, she resembled a millennia-old Snow Lotus on an iceberg, so pure that people dared not approach her.

Her jade-like, transparent eyes were like a pool of icy water, beautiful yet intimidating, as if one could see the deepest evil within their own heart through them.

Her jet-black, waterfall-like long hair was lightly coiled, with a simple Deer God Hairpin inserted into it. The remaining black hair cascaded down past the hairpin, reaching her waist.

Long eyelashes covered her eyelids, and every blink seemed to refresh the entire world.

    Wang Chen

She was the acknowledged Buddhist Maiden of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Continent (some find the term ‘Buddhist Maiden’ a bit strange and also call her the Saintess of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Continent), the “daughter” of the Bodhi Holy Land’s Abbot, and also his final Disciple, belonging to the ‘Wang’ generation.

She was the young woman Lin Xun was most afraid of meeting.

Thinking back now, it truly felt like a sin. How could his brain have short-circuited back then, getting entangled with her?

If there was a next life, Lin Xun promised he would walk around this girl!

    “Young Master? Have we met?”

Wang Chen asked again, only she looked a little dazed.

“Miss, you must be joking.” Lin Xun forcefully suppressed his Emperor Engine. “I grew up in Luo City. How could I possibly have met you?”

“Then…” Wang Chen’s mirror-like eyes stared blankly at Lin Xun’s chest. “Why is the Young Master’s heart beating so fast?”

“Well… that’s naturally because Miss is too beautiful.” Lin Xun wiped away a cold sweat and chuckled. “I apologize, the weather is too hot. If Miss has nothing else, I’ll be going now.”

Lin Xun rolled up his package and was about to run, but before he had taken a few steps, his body paused slightly. Turning around, he saw that Wang Chen had already grabbed the corner of his clothes, raising her mirror-like eyes to look at him.

“Miss, what kind of behavior is this, pulling and tugging in broad daylight? I know I’m handsome, but I’m already married. If you keep pestering me like this, I’m going to call out ‘indecent assault’!”

    “Oh.”

Wang Chen softly acknowledged him, but still did not let go of Lin Xun’s garment hem, continuing to gaze at him blankly.

“Aren’t you going to let go?”

“If you don’t let go, I’m really going to shout.”

    “I’m shouting now.”

“Fei…” Lin Xun was about to shout half a syllable, but he stopped abruptly.

Lin Xun deeply rubbed his face, looking at Wang Chen with a hopeless expression: “Wang…”

Lin Xun almost blurted out the name “Wang Chen,” and a hint of brightness actually flashed across the girl’s placid eyes.

Fortunately, Lin Xun reacted in time: “I forgot to ask for Miss’s name. My name is Lin Pei.”

“Ruo Wangchen.” That hint of brightness slowly faded, replaced by a heartbreaking sense of loneliness.

Hearing the character “Ruo,” Lin Xun was also startled, wondering when she had acquired a surname.

“Miss Ruo, I really need to go home, and I am already married. It’s really inappropriate for you to be pulling and tugging at me like this. Can we let go?”

Lowering her lovely head, the girl seemed to be pondering something. Finally, her fingertips relaxed, and Lin Xun’s garment hem slipped from her grasp, but the loneliness in her eyes filled Lin Xun with guilt.

At this moment, Lin Xun felt like a scumbag.

No way! I can’t be soft-hearted! The last time I was soft-hearted, it led to the current mistake. If I get soft-hearted again, it will be even more troublesome.

Lin Xun hardened his heart, turned around, and left.

However, Ruo Wangchen followed closely behind Lin Xun, taking steps with her long legs.

“Miss, you really have the wrong person. We truly haven’t met.”

Lin Xun turned around to explain, and then walked away again.

    But she still followed.

“If you follow me again! I’m really going to get angry!”

Lin Xun pretended to flare up, turned around, and left.

【You nun! You are the Buddha, I am the Devil! If you follow me again, I will explode!】

Watching Lin Xun gradually walk away, Ruo Wangchen stood blankly in place, her thoughts drifting.

A man wearing a mask and holding a black long spear appeared in her mind.

Just like that day, the girl stood blankly in place, watching his gradually receding back.

Lin Xun quickly walked nearly fifty meters and confirmed that she had not followed.

Lin Xun turned his head slightly and glanced with his peripheral vision, but she was still standing in place.

He walked another fifty meters, glanced over, and she was still standing in place.

“I don’t care! I really can’t worry about this anymore!”

Lin Xun continued to walk forward, and she continued to gaze at him blankly.

When he walked another thirty meters, in the girl’s eyes, his figure suddenly stopped.

She saw him turn around and quickly walk back toward her, just like that year.

“Miss, I truly give up on you.”

Ultimately unable to withstand the internal condemnation, Lin Xun returned to the girl’s presence.

【You nun, I truly give up on you!】

That day, the man carrying the long spear returned to her side.

“Let’s go. If you trust me, come home with me. My wife should be back, and my house is quite large.”

Lin Xun said angrily, unsure if he was angry at himself or something else.

【You nun, if you trust me, follow me! Don’t blame me if I sell you later!】

The man carrying the long spear sighed deeply, full of helplessness.

“Hey, Miss, did you hear me?” Lin Xun angrily waved his hand in front of her.

【Hey! Nun, if you understood, say something back.】

He angrily waved the long spear in front of her.

The girl simply reached out her small hand and gently grasped the hem of his garment.

She raised her lovely head, her clear eyes fixed tightly on him, containing a hint of grievance and pleading.

    “Please don’t be angry, okay.”

The girl spoke slowly, just like she had that day.
