Chapter Index

This book actually originated from a discussion I had with a friend last year. He first proposed the idea and even started writing it, but ultimately couldn’t continue—partly because the subject matter proved too difficult to handle.

Later on, I tried several times to write this book myself, but each attempt only got as far as the beginning before I gave up. I’m sure many of you have noticed—if you dig too deep into this genre, it’s riddled with bugs and loopholes that make it hard to explain thoroughly.

Last month, in October, I gave it some serious thought and finally decided to launch this book.

The reason? Simple—I wanted to challenge myself!

At first, I tried to approach this “patch update” genre with a traditional writing style. But the further I went, the more I realized I wasn’t enjoying the process of writing a new book.

It was too safe, too methodical. In the end, I lost the joy of writing a version update story.

Isn’t the whole point of “version updates” to revel in the chaos of clashing systems and worldviews?

If I were just going to follow the rules, I might as well have written a traditional cultivation novel.

Now that I’ve gotten this far, the overall direction of the story is becoming much clearer.

Game update version, ghost horror version, mysterious occult version, high martial arts version, pantheon version—all of these will be featured. And if there’s anything you’d like to see but isn’t there yet, feel free to drop suggestions in the comments. I’ll take them into consideration.

With my last book, I didn’t read the comment threads for a whole year, and readers ended up calling me a fake author.

This time, I won’t pretend anymore. If you’ve got fun or creative ideas, feel free to share them—I’ll be reading them all.

Tomorrow at noon, the book will officially go premium.

To thank everyone for your support, I’ll set a small goal for myself:

Five chapters a day—for one month!
