Chapter Index

This soldier rode that headless black horse, galloping toward the city!

For him, this was the first time he had seen such a change in all the years he had guarded the Han River!

    There was a problem!

And it was a major one!

The soldier even felt a faint sense of excitement!

    Because!

He had also heard that when a change occurred in the Han River, it would be the time for all the people of the Desolate Region to leave this godforsaken place!

He had had enough of all this!

    “Hyah! Hyah! Hyah!”

The soldier soon arrived at the gates of Dragon City.

“Open the gates! I have urgent news for the King! Open the gates quickly!”

With the soldier’s advance shouting, the city gates slowly opened.

    “Make way! Everyone, make way!”

Without any hindrance, the soldier rode his horse toward the Imperial City! The path was clear all the way!

Rushing into the Imperial Palace, the soldier dismounted and, led by a maidservant, walked quickly toward the Dragon Lord’s Imperial Study!

If running weren’t forbidden in the palace, he would have long since revealed his true form and galloped on all fours.

    “Your Majesty!”

Inside the Imperial Study, the soldier knelt before the Dragon Lord.

    “Why such panic?”

The Dragon Lord put down her book and looked coldly at the soldier before her.

This wasn’t because the soldier had disturbed the Dragon Lord’s reading.

It was simply because the Dragon Lord was naturally this cold.

“Reporting to Your Majesty! The Han River has frozen over!”

The River-Guarding Soldier’s voice echoed throughout the hall.

The Dragon Lord’s golden vertical pupils suddenly constricted!

    “What did you say?!”

The Dragon Lord stood up, her previous composure vanishing.

“Reporting to Your Majesty! Today, I was ordered to guard the Han River. I heard a sound, and when I looked up, I saw the Han River freezing over at a speed visible to the naked eye!”

Listening to the soldier’s words, the Dragon Lord paced back and forth within the Imperial Study.

She found it hard to believe the soldier’s report.

But she also knew the soldier wouldn’t dare lie to her; the Han River was of such importance that any deception would mean immediate execution.

It wasn’t that she didn’t believe the soldier, but rather that she couldn’t believe her own ears.

Because after so many years, she had almost given up on the Han River, even starting to forget the place existed.

Had her late father not told her to monitor every movement of the Han River no matter what, she probably would have abandoned it long ago.

    And now!

Unexpectedly! An incident at the Han River had truly occurred!

    “Someone, come!”

    The Dragon Lord called out.

    “Your Majesty.”

Four maidservants quickly appeared before the Dragon Lord.

“Pass on my command: assemble the Three Great City Lords, the Five Great Priests, and the first battalion of the Black Iron Cavalry. We shall head to the Han River together!”

    The Dragon Lord commanded.

For someone in the Spirit Refining Realm like her, she could have gone alone.

But to be safe, she wanted to bring her maximum combat power—all her elites!

    “Yes!”

The four maidservants left at once.

In less than the time it takes for half an incense stick to burn, over a hundred black pigeons flew toward the other three cities and the Black Iron Cavalry’s camp!

In less than the time for another incense stick to burn.

On the main road leading from Dragon City to the Han River, the Dragon Lord led a massive procession toward the river.

At the same time, the lords of other cities in the Desolate Region, upon learning that Dragon City had deployed its troops, notified their respective kings.

Since the Dragon Lord had swallowed four cities last time, her current strength was extremely formidable.

Even though she had eventually relinquished direct rule over those four cities, they hadn’t truly submitted in their hearts.

However, her policy of conciliation was extremely effective; on the surface, those four cities appeared to be self-governing.

But in reality, the master of those four annexed cities was still the Dragon Lord.

The Dragon Lord held the keys to the Magic Formations of those four cities!

    She held the supreme authority.

Unless the Dragon Lord was killed, no one could ever fully control those four cities.

As for replacing the Magic Formations after occupying a city…

    …that was even more impossible.

Because the Foundations of these four cities’ Magic Formations were integrated with the cities themselves; replacing them would be equivalent to self-destruction, turning the entire city into ruins!

So the other city lords were momentarily panicked, even forming alliances to resist any future attacks from the Dragon Lord.

But after the Dragon Lord conquered those four cities, she hadn’t made any further moves.

Thus, the other lords had settled down.

But unexpectedly, without any warning, the Lord of Dragon City had deployed her troops!

    This was outrageous!

For a time, the lords of cities near Dragon City were on edge, fearing they would be the next target.

They were even prepared to seek help from other city lords.

    But as they waited…

…they soon realized something was wrong.

    Where were they?

Why hasn’t that female dragon arrived yet?

She mobilized such a massive force, yet she isn’t coming here—what is she playing at?

Don’t tell me she mobilized all those troops just for a hunting trip.

Just as many city lords were feeling uneasy…

    …suddenly, they received another letter.

That female dragon has headed to the Han River!

    And!

The Han River has frozen over!

By the banks of the Han River, the Dragon Lord dismounted.

Looking at the frozen Han River, the Dragon Lord’s brow furrowed slightly.

This was a sight she had never seen before!

The Dragon Lord crouched down and gently touched the frozen river surface with her finger.

What reached the girl’s fingertip was still that bone-piercing chill.

The girl gave it a light tap.

Not a single crack appeared on the Han River’s ice.

Then, the girl added a bit more strength.

The ice still showed no signs of cracking.

She struck again with even more force.

The Han River still didn’t crack!

    Adding even more strength…

The Han River remained perfectly intact!

Finally, the girl took a deep breath. Her right hand dragonized, turning into a Golden Dragon Claw, and she struck down with all her might!

This was a full-power strike from the Spirit Refining Realm!

Under this strike, the mountains and rivers shook. The city lords, priests, generals, and Iron Cavalry behind the girl all fell over.

    A massive sound echoed out.

It was as if the very earth had been hammered down a few inches by the girl!

Any other piece of land would have been smashed into a giant crater by her!

But by the Han River, everything remained the same—not a single thing happened!

Even when the Dragon Lord lifted her palm, the ice of the Han River only showed a few faint cracks.

But quickly, these few cracks healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The girl stood up, looked toward the opposite bank, then picked up a stone and threw it across.

The stone reached the other side smoothly.
