Chapter 63: Squat Down and Cover Your Head

Being woken up just as you’re about to fall asleep is definitely not a pleasant feeling.

Chen Feng abruptly sat up in bed and shouted angrily, “Who is it?”

“Open up! Police, random inspection!”

A gruff voice sounded from outside the door.

Chen Feng’s heart skipped a beat, and he felt a wave of lingering fear.

Damn it, I almost couldn’t resist the temptation just now. Good thing I held back in the end.

At his core, he was still a decent person.

Otherwise, if he had been caught in the act right now, he would surely be detained.

Chen Feng didn’t dare to delay and immediately ran to open the door.

Of course, before opening it, he looked through the peephole. Sure enough, two men in uniform were standing at the door.

So, Chen Feng opened the door.

The two uniformed men pushed their way in. The chubby one rushed into the room first, scanning left and right. Then he went into a small inner room to look, and of course, checked the bathroom as well. There was no one.

Finally, looking disappointed and even a bit annoyed, the chubby officer walked to the window and looked out. Hotel windows are now basically locked and can’t be opened wide.

Besides, this was the seventh floor. It was impossible to hide outside the window.

The chubby officer’s expression turned to one of disappointment, even anger, as he stared grimly at Chen Feng.

“We received a report that someone in this room is soliciting a prostitute. Did you hide her?”

Seeing his actions just now, and his current expression and tone, how could Chen Feng not know something was fishy?

His face immediately darkened as well, and he said, “The room is only this big. Where could I hide someone? Don’t you go falsely accusing people. Also, you say you’re the police. Can you show me your identification? And how come I don’t see you wearing body cameras?”

Hearing this, the expressions of the two men changed slightly.

The other man immediately took out a black ID from his pocket, flashed it in front of Chen Feng, and then said in a serious tone, “I hope you will cooperate with our investigation. First, take out your ID card so I can register it.”

The chubby officer followed up with a shout, “Behave yourself! You are currently suspected of soliciting a prostitute. We have the right to detain you for twenty-four hours.”

“Hurry up, ID card,” the other man urged in a low voice.

At this point, Chen Feng felt even more strongly that something was wrong with them. The uniforms looked real, but based on their demeanor, temperament, and their performance just now, it was hard to associate them with real police officers.

“Alright. My ID is in my suitcase. I’ll go get it.”

Chen Feng turned and walked towards his suitcase, simultaneously taking his phone out of his pocket.

“What are you doing with your phone?” the chubby officer demanded.

Chen Feng retorted coldly, “Officer, I’m not a criminal right now. Do I need to ask for your permission to take out my phone?”

The chubby officer was momentarily speechless.

The other officer shot the chubby one a subtle glare, then said to Chen Feng, “You’d better be honest with me. Let me ask you, did you get a tip-off in advance and let the lady leave first?”

“I’ve been the only one in this room from the beginning. You must have been played by whoever reported it.”

Chen Feng answered casually while operating his phone, preparing to dial 110.

Just then, there was a sudden noise at the door, followed by someone shouting, “Police, random inspection. Please cooperate.”

The three of them turned to look and saw three police officers walking in, one of whom was a woman.

As they came around the corner of the hallway and saw the scene in the room, they were all stunned.

“Which department are you from?” one of the tall male officers asked with confusion.

“We… we… are from the Yuzhou District.”

“Yuzhou District? What are you doing here? Why didn’t you notify us beforehand?”

The female officer suddenly said, “Captain, there’s a problem with their badge numbers.”

Hearing this, Chen Feng immediately jogged over to stand next to the three officers and said to them, “I also think there’s something wrong with these two. They just said they were here for a random inspection of my room, insisting I was soliciting a prostitute, and even said they were going to detain me.”

The female officer stared coldly at the two uniformed men, who were now in a panic, and said, “They say they’re from Yuzhou District, but their badge numbers show one is from Anhui province and the other is from Guangxi province.”

When Chen Feng heard the female officer’s words, he was delighted and couldn’t help but laugh, “I say, if you two are going to impersonate police officers, at least be a bit more professional. Getting police uniforms and badge numbers from two different provinces, what kind of stunt is this? A cross-provincial joint operation to catch prostitutes?”

As Chen Feng said this, the two male officers on his side couldn’t help but chuckle.

“That’s right. Do you two know the crime of impersonating a police officer? Alright, both of you, squat down and put your hands on your heads.”

The tall officer barked an order. The two fake cops shivered, and with miserable faces, they obediently squatted down and put their hands on their heads.

The other young officer immediately came forward with handcuffs and cuffed both of them.

The tall officer walked up to Chen Feng and extended his hand, “Thank you for your cooperation. We’ll have to trouble you to come back to the station with us to give a statement.”

“Okay. This time, I should be the one thanking you. If you hadn’t arrived in time, I would have definitely been blackmailed by them,” Chen Feng said with sincere gratitude.

With the identities of these two fake cops exposed, it wasn’t hard to guess their original plan.

It was likely a traditional badger game. If Chen Feng had accepted the phone call for a prostitute earlier, these two fake cops would have shown up, and then, naturally, a round of blackmail and extortion would have followed.

It was just that Chen Feng was lucky this time. Either there was a problem with the coordination between the two sides of the scam, or they had gotten the wrong room.

More importantly, these two impostors had the bad luck of running into the real deal and were caught red-handed.

Otherwise, it was obvious they were about to play along with the mistake and continue to try and extort Chen Feng.

Thus, Chen Feng went with the three real police officers to the station to give a statement.

After finishing the statement and coming out, he had just taken a few steps down the hallway leading to the main lobby when he came face to face with Wu Mengting and Lin Wan. They were being led inside by a female police officer.

He saw them at the same time they saw him.

All three of them dropped their jaws in unison, too surprised to speak for a moment.

Damn it!

Chen Feng cursed inwardly.

He never dreamed he would run into them here.

Clearly, they were just as shocked.

Because this was simply too incredible, too coincidental!

“What’s wrong with you two?” the female officer asked when she saw both women stop in their tracks and stare at Chen Feng.

“Ah, oh, we ran into a friend,” Lin Wan replied, coming back to her senses, her expression complicated.

Before, she had been at most half-convinced by what Wu Mengting said about fate. But now, to meet again in a place like this, could you say it wasn’t a surprise? Wasn’t it magical?

If this wasn’t fate, what was?

Chen Feng also came back to his senses. Although he wanted to avoid them, meeting in a place like this, he definitely had to ask.

“What are you doing here? Didn’t you just get back?”

Chen Feng took a few steps forward and asked with concern.
