Chapter Index

Compared to the stable soul body of the Giant Spirit God, the transformation of Bloodbeard was far more complex.

Especially with the hundreds of tiny tendrils that made up parts of his soul body—engraving psionic code onto each and every one of them was no simple task.

Even with the Giant Spirit God’s successful example as a reference, Lu Yan still had to attempt the transformation 413 times before the Ghost God modification was complete.

During the process, Bloodbeard’s soul weakened twice and had to be sustained by devouring leftover high-level psionic souls just to survive long enough for the full transformation.

The moment the Ghost God transformation succeeded, countless strands of golden psionic code intertwined, and Bloodbeard’s grotesque soul body began to change.

The bloody tendrils covering his body fell away, replaced by flowing locks of red-gold hair sprouting from his head.

His monstrous form gradually reshaped into a humanoid figure, the forming face handsome but tinged with a cold, bloodthirsty edge.

Finally, just like the Giant Spirit God, Bloodbeard’s transformation halted once soul computation power ran low. A swirling mass of ghost fog condensed into a black robe, wrapping his body.

He gently descended from mid-air, and with his new handsome appearance, knelt on one knee and bowed respectfully to Lu Yan.

    “Blood God greets my lord!”

“Blood God?” Lu Yan raised a brow. “The Giant Spirit God’s appearance didn’t change much during his evolution. Why is your transformation so drastic?”

“Reporting to my lord,” Blood God said, “the evolution I sought was along the path of the soul—a transformation rooted in the soul level. This evolution strengthens my power, refines my soul essence, and even allows me to control more ferocious ghosts through my innate Soul Fusion Art.”

“In contrast, the path chosen by the Giant Spirit God is that of omniscience. He can peer into the Heavenly Dao, maintain order, and simulate future variables. His path mirrors that of the Cyber God.”

At this point, Blood God cast a fierce glare at the Giant Spirit God.

Only after undergoing the Ghost God transformation did he finally understand why the Giant Spirit God had been so eager to get his transformation done. The fusion of agony and ecstasy had made Blood God even more awed by Lu Yan.

“Moreover,” Blood God added, “the most important reason lies in the microcosm within the Soul Banner’s world.”

“As the first Ghost God of this world, the Giant Spirit God is destined to dominate the order and laws of that realm.”

“I refuse to be subordinate to him, so I chose the path of the soul—to become the sharpest blade in my lord’s arsenal!”

Compared to the calm and calculating Giant Spirit God, who always seemed in control, Blood God came off like a reckless hothead.

The Giant Spirit God, despite having a massive physique and the ability to turn into a giant through divine techniques, had chosen the cerebral path of omniscience.

Meanwhile, Blood God—who could command countless vengeful ghosts—opted instead for a path centered on personal combat strength.

The contrast between these two Ghost Gods created a strange kind of comedic irony.

Yet Lu Yan appreciated this side of Blood God, nodding in approval.

“You made the right choice. As we continue traversing more and more worlds, there are bound to be battles ahead. We’ll need a fierce warrior like you.”

    “Rise.”

Blood God stood at Lu Yan’s left side, casting a proud glance at the Giant Spirit God. He mouthed silently:

“I knelt for less time than you!”

To Blood God, the fact that Lu Yan didn’t keep him kneeling long was a sign of favor and acknowledgment.

The Giant Spirit God glanced at him with disinterest and casually replied:

“I helped our lord design the plan for Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment and drafted the blueprint for modifying the ferocious ghosts. And what did you contribute?”

    Blood God froze mid-glare.

His cold, bloodthirsty expression stiffened as he stammered:

    “I-I can… I…”

Lu Yan confirmed it in his heart—Blood God must’ve devoted all his soul computing power to his soul body, leaving none for his brain.

Rubbing his brow with helplessness, Lu Yan said:

“Blood God, I have a task for you.”

The moment he heard that, Blood God’s eyes lit up. “I will complete it without fail!”

“…I haven’t told you what it is yet.”

Hearing that, Blood God calmed down and listened attentively.

Lu Yan pulled a chip out of his storage pouch and tossed it to Blood God.

“This contains the refined psionic code for the Yin Soldier modifications. From here on, you’ll be responsible for modifying all the ferocious ghosts into Yin Soldiers.”

Blood God took the chip. At this point, he didn’t need any external tools—he could directly read its contents with his soul.

But upon reading it, he was stunned.

While he might be a hothead, he wasn’t an idiot. The complex soul transformation techniques inside the chip were difficult even for him. And he was being asked to apply this to eight hundred ferocious ghosts?

This wasn’t something like guiding ghosts to paint Heavenly Dao codes—this was performing soul computer surgery on each and every ghost.

Even though this was a simplified, portable-smartbrain version of the soul computer—it would still leave him half-dead with exhaustion.

Blood God quickly realized he’d been tricked by the Giant Spirit God again.

Yet, loyalty was carved into the bones of all Ghost Gods. No matter how hard the task, Blood God could only obediently accept Lu Yan’s orders.

    “Blood God obeys!”

Glancing at the gently smiling Giant Spirit God, Lu Yan said:

“This mission is of great importance for the future. One Ghost God alone won’t be enough.”

“From now on, you’ll lead this operation. Giant Spirit God will assist you, and you may direct him as needed.”

Blood God was stunned for a moment—then beamed with joy.

    “Many thanks, my lord!”

The Giant Spirit God, ever cooperative, spread his hands and sighed with a resigned expression. Though his face was calm, he let just enough weariness show, and his tone was exaggeratedly lazy:

“Well, looks like our lord saw through my little tricks. Guess I’ve been dragged over as manual labor. I’ll follow your orders for now.”

Blood God crossed his arms proudly and said haughtily:

“Our lord has eyes like torches. You think your petty tricks could fool him?”

“Now get to work. Let’s figure out the most efficient way to perform these Yin Soldier transformations!”

Lu Yan couldn’t help but chuckle.

Just a few words—and with Lu Yan’s subtle cooperation—the Giant Spirit God had manipulated Blood God into becoming an eager volunteer worker.

Lu Yan’s assessment of the Giant Spirit God rose once again. At the same time, he became keenly aware that the Giant Spirit God and Blood God were no longer the same as the old main souls.

They were now Ghost Gods—and could no longer be commanded using the methods meant for soul slaves.

Though the Soul Banner and Truth Code could still restrain them, no rule was foolproof. Endless exploitation would only breed rebellion.

New thoughts flickered through his mind as Lu Yan turned to the last remaining main soul—the very first one he had ever nurtured: Lishi.
