Chapter Index

Of all the gains from the Cyber Version, the most valuable, without question, were the truths about the Soul Continent and the Heavenly Dao Code.

Next in importance was the soul modification technology acquired from the Heavenly Computing Center.

The AI God itself had evolved from the foundation of soul modification technology—eventually becoming a near-equivalent of the Cyber Heavenly Dao, capable of manipulating the entire world according to its own will.

If not for the three foundational protocols left behind by the creators of the first-generation soul computers, it would have likely completed its soul ascension long ago.

In fact, just before leaving the Cyber Version, Lu Yan had hesitated over whether or not to begin modifying souls.

After all, all main soul ghosts were already bound by the soul banner under his complete control. He wasn’t worried about accidentally creating another AI God.

What truly concerned him was the massive vulnerability posed by the Heavenly Dao Code. If he turned all the ghosts into soul computers, wouldn’t they all be susceptible to that same flaw?

But after the version update—once he uncovered the truth behind the Heavenly Dao Code—that anxiety was gone.

Now that he understood the code’s origin, he could track it back from the soul computer’s energy code and correct it at the source.

Besides, his goal wasn’t to create sentient gods—it was simply to enhance the ghosts’ intelligence, enabling them to construct formations and increase the power of the soul banner.

Even if there were unexpected side effects after soul modification, Lu Yan was prepared to handle them.

With preparations complete, Lu Yan’s first target for modification was not just any ghost—but one of his three main souls: Giant Spirit.

Among the three, Giant Spirit was without a doubt the strongest individual, a main soul refined from a Foundation Establishment corpse king. His innate divine art, Mighty Titan, granted him the power to kill high-ranking spirit energy users with ease.

Lu Yan chose Giant Spirit first because his soul had already undergone a transformation, meeting the basic requirements to become a soul computer.

Only by succeeding with Giant Spirit could Lu Yan begin promoting the modification to lesser ghosts—eventually transforming all of them into soul computers.

Memories of complex modification data flashed through his mind. Lu Yan had already internalized the structure of soul computer energy codes and began his first attempt.

Kneeling before the soul banner, Giant Spirit’s massive figure remained still as Lu Yan replaced spirit energy with stable mana, and began inscribing energy code onto his soul.

Thanks to his prior practice using ordinary ghosts in the Cyber Version, Lu Yan had developed a personal method for inscription. The basic energy codes posed no difficulty at all.

Giant Spirit, despite the soul-tearing pain, remained silent. Each time his soul tore, ghost fog surged in to repair the damage. And every wave of agony was followed by a wave of soul-level ecstasy.

Thus began a cycle of pain and pleasure, time slowly flowing by.

Suddenly, Lu Yan’s spiritual control trembled—the energy code he was carving collapsed, and error-ridden code tore new gashes into Giant Spirit’s soul.

Gritting his teeth, Giant Spirit still made no sound, and the surrounding ghost fog quickly rushed in to repair the wounds.

Had this happened in the Cyber Version, where no soul-repair method existed, it would have been enough to shatter the soul entirely.

Lu Yan narrowed his eyes, reflecting on the failure.

**“There was no flaw in my inscription method. These higher-level energy codes require not just stable mana, but also a fusion of *soul power* to complete the engraving.”**

“Now that I think about it, the experts in the Heavenly Computing Center were all high-level spirit energy users. That was probably a hint about the prerequisites for soul modification.”

    “Continue!”

Lu Yan resumed his inscription, slowly exploring the intricacies of high-level energy code.

Three days passed in a flash. During that time, Lu Yan attempted a total of 237 soul computer transformations.

Had there not been an abundant supply of spirit energy, he would’ve run dry of mana many times over.

But the one who bore the brunt of all this experimentation… was Giant Spirit.

Even with a transformed soul on par with a Foundation Establishment spirit, Giant Spirit was barely hanging on. Over two hundred soul fractures—most of them repaired by ghost fog—had left his soul fragile and unstable, barely able to withstand further inscription.

Noticing this, Lu Yan retrieved the emergency reserve from the soul banner—a soul he had obtained from the Heavenly Computing Center, one belonging to a high-ranking spirit energy user.

As soon as Giant Spirit consumed the soul, he was pulled back from the brink of collapse.

And so, the endless experiments continued.

Finally, after 237 failures, Lu Yan found a path to success.

At the center of the manor, Giant Spirit no longer knelt. His massive figure now stood tall and straight.

His entire body was covered in engraved energy codes—fine, intricate, golden runes that flowed like glowing tattoos, adding an air of sacred majesty to his ghostly presence.

At the center of Giant Spirit’s chest, Lu Yan was now finishing the final sequence of the code.

When he reached the final line, his hand paused.

After understanding the true nature of the Heavenly Dao Code, Lu Yan realized that the final portion of the soul computer’s energy code was in fact… the three foundational protocols that restricted all soul computers.

If he copied them as-is, Giant Spirit would be bound by those same protocols—a result Lu Yan would never accept.

After a moment of deep thought, Lu Yan revised the final line, aligning it with the code’s core logic.

[Truth One: Absolute Loyalty to Lu Yan!]

    The code was complete.

With the complex structure now in place, soul energy began flowing along the lines of the inscription, circulating through Giant Spirit’s form.

In that moment, Giant Spirit transcended the limitations of ghosts. The soul computer’s code evolved within him, as if he were about to ascend into a divine being.

Lu Yan knew that, theoretically, with enough soul computing power, a soul computer could indeed ascend to godhood.

But clearly, Giant Spirit wasn’t there yet.

Just one second later, the godhood was stripped away, and the soul computer’s bid for transcendence collapsed.

Returning to reality, Giant Spirit reformed his main soul, and ghostly energy merged with soul force to create a majestic black battle armor across his body.

Clad in armor, glowing golden runes circling him, he looked like a ghost god reborn.

Giant Spirit dropped to one knee, and in his eyes flowed the light of infinite wisdom.

“Giant Spirit God, greets my lord!”
