Chapter 6 The World Is Not Worth It
by SunflowerThe towering stack of coins collapsed with a loud clatter, attracting the attention of many people at once.
The little girl holding the five stuffed dolls also followed, trotting to Chen Feng’s side, her face once again filled with admiration and envy.
“Uncle, you’re amazing! You won so much at once. This coin pusher is so hard to win at. I’ve been playing here for months and have never seen anyone win money on this machine. Teach me, how did you win? I promise I won’t tell anyone.”
This little girl was really forward. Chen Feng ignored her and squatted down to put the fallen coins into the plastic box.
This time, he had won over three thousand coins. According to the one-to-one exchange rate, it was actually equivalent to over three thousand yuan.
The onlookers were all extremely envious.
On the surface, these game tokens were not allowed to be exchanged for cash, but privately, there were plenty of people willing to buy them with money.
Sure enough, someone came up close and whispered, “Boss, are these coins for sale? 2000, I’ll take them all.”
“Go, go, go. He’s not selling.”
Before Chen Feng could say anything, the little girl angrily shooed the person away.
The person glanced at the little girl, didn’t say much, and turned to leave.
“Uncle, don’t sell these game coins for cheap. If you really want to sell them, sell them to me. I definitely won’t let you lose out.”
Chen Feng couldn’t help but glance at this little girl. He thought to himself that she didn’t look like she was rich. He said, “I’m not selling. I just came here to have fun, not to make money.”
“Uncle, you really are a master!” The little girl flattered him again.
Chen Feng continued to pack the game coins. One plastic box was of course not enough; he filled a total of three.
The three plastic boxes were stacked together, heavy and cumbersome. Chen Feng could only carry them with both hands.
Next, Chen Feng didn’t play any more gambling-type game machines, but went to play racing and shooting games. After a few rounds, he hadn’t spent many of the game coins.
After that, he went to play the dance machine. Chen Feng had never played this kind of machine before. He couldn’t dance and had no sense of music.
But wasn’t he about to die? Before he died, there was no harm in trying it out.
Sure enough, playing the dance machine relied on more than just luck. Without a sense of music or rhythm, you just couldn’t dance well, and it was game over very quickly.
Many people around saw Chen Feng fumbling around and dancing randomly, and they all burst out laughing. Especially a few little kids who laughed the loudest.
In response, Chen Feng was very calm.
“Go, go, go! Weren’t you all like this when you first started playing? What’s so funny?”
It was the same little girl again. She stood up for Chen Feng once more. At this time, she had somehow gotten a large plastic bag and put all the dolls inside, carrying it with one hand.
“Uncle, let me lead you. I dance very well.” The little girl took the initiative to help, wanting to do a two-player dance.
Chen Feng didn’t refuse and nodded, “Okay, I’ll pay for the game coins.”
“Okay,” the little girl smiled sweetly.
They inserted the coins, and the two-player dance began.
However, half a minute later, it was over for both of them.
“Uncle, you need to let loose,” the little girl said like a teacher. “Since you want to play the dance machine, you have to have a shameless spirit. Don’t be afraid of embarrassing yourself when you dance. The more you dance, the better you’ll get, and the more confident you’ll become.”
Chen Feng smiled and said, “You’re right. Let’s play another round.”
“Hey, uncle, we’re still waiting. It’s our turn.”
A young man next to them grumbled with dissatisfaction.
“Go, all of you, stay on the side.”
The little girl, acting very worldly, grabbed a handful of game coins from Chen Feng’s plastic box and stuffed them into the young man’s hand.
The young man’s face immediately lit up with a smile, and he obediently left with his few friends.
“Uncle, you don’t mind, do you?”
Turning back, the little girl stuck out her tongue at Chen Feng and asked.
“I don’t mind. Anyway, there are so many game coins, and I don’t plan on taking them with me. You can help me spend some.”
This little girl seemed impolite, but after this interaction, her nature was actually not bad.
“Uncle, you’re so generous. I’ll be your friend. Now I’ll start teaching you.”
So, the little girl really did her duty and taught Chen Feng how to play the dance machine.
During this time, several groups of people came over wanting to take turns playing, but she sent them all away.
Chen Feng actually learned seriously. Coupled with his thick skin, after a few more rounds, his skills really improved by leaps and bounds.
Chen Feng suddenly felt a bit addicted, and the little girl was also full of a sense of accomplishment.
So the two of them monopolized this dance machine and danced for more than two hours.
By this time, both of them were quite tired, and their feet were starting to hurt. So they stopped.
Next, the little girl took Chen Feng to play other game machines. She was really familiar with this arcade.
After playing a round of everything, Chen Feng felt very satisfied. And the little girl, probably because she didn’t have to spend her own money, had a smile on her face the whole time.
It wasn’t until the arcade’s loudspeaker announced that it was closing that the two of them finished their games and walked out the door together.
“Uncle, are you coming to play again tomorrow night?” the little girl asked with some hope.
Chen Feng shook his head and said, “No. I probably won’t come again in the future.”
He only had two or three months left, and he didn’t want to waste too much time in the arcade. Playing freely for one night was enough. He had many other things to do.
“Why? I thought you had a lot of fun tonight. Why not continue to play?”
The little girl was a little dissatisfied and disappointed.
“I have other things to do. You too, you’re in junior high now, right? Don’t come to the arcade all the time. Don’t you have to study?”
Chen Feng didn’t want to say the latter part, but they had known each other for a while, and she had accompanied him to play for several hours that night, so Chen Feng couldn’t help but say it.
“I just don’t want to study, what’s it to you?”
The little girl’s face immediately changed, like a dog’s.
Chen Feng shook his head. Of course, he wouldn’t argue with a little girl. He just changed the subject and asked, “I’ll give you the rest of these game coins. Do you want them?”
“Ah. Uncle, you’re not kidding, are you? There are so many game coins.” The little girl looked at Chen Feng in surprise.
Chen Feng had at least two thousand game coins left, which was equivalent to more than two thousand in cash according to the arcade’s exchange value.
“I already said I won’t be playing anymore. I can’t return them, and I don’t want to sell them at a low price, so I can only give them to you.”
“Is that so. But, uncle, you don’t have any bad intentions towards me, do you? I’m still young.” The little girl deliberately put on a scared and wary look, her eyes quite dramatic.
“Get lost!”
Chen Feng couldn’t help but reach out and rub her head, directly messing up her hairstyle into a chicken’s nest.
The girl let out a series of cries, desperately protecting her hairstyle. Chen Feng’s mood instantly improved a lot.
“Do you want them or not? If not, I’ll just leave them here.”
“I want them! Why wouldn’t I? This is compensation for messing up my hair.”
The little girl said righteously.
“Fine. I’ll have them put on your membership card at the counter. You have a card, right?”
“Of course I do.”
The two quickly went to the counter. They counted the game coins, a total of 2593, all of which were credited to the little girl’s membership card.
At this point, Chen Feng finally learned the little girl’s name from the counter staff: Qin Xiaorou.
After setting up the membership card, the two walked out of the arcade and the shopping mall together, standing by the side of the street.
It was already past ten o’clock at night. Chen Feng asked with concern, “Did you come out alone tonight?”
“What for?” Qin Xiaorou looked wary.
Chen Feng suppressed the urge to rub her head again and said simply and clearly, “You came out alone at night, aren’t your parents worried? Don’t you have school tomorrow?”
“None of your business.”
Qin Xiaorou rolled her eyes at Chen Feng, turned around, and quickly ran away.
Damn!
Chen Feng was stunned for a good while before he reacted. This wild girl was really ill-mannered. She turned hostile just like that, leaving without any hesitation.
After all, the two of them had played games together for a whole night, and Chen Feng had even given her more than two thousand game coins. She was so heartless.
What’s wrong with this world? Are people so indifferent to each other? Can’t there be more trust and warmth between people? Is the new generation so heartless?
Chen Feng stood on the street, feeling emotional, and suddenly felt that the world was not worth it.
