The Cornflower Witch Chapter 221
byShadow World, “Colorful Wilderness” Outpost.
Trees of varying heights dotted the plains, their trunks and branches of different colors, some like pink and white candy, others like black roses, their forms diverse, giving off a unique fairy-tale sensation, detached from natural setting, yet whimsical.
Concealed within the tree cover of the wilderness were several towers and houses of varying sizes. The appearance and roofs of these buildings, like the surrounding trees, were vibrant and novel in color.
This was the stronghold of the “Rainbow Glazed Bottle” organization, a renowned alchemist faction within the forest.
A light pink bird gracefully skimmed over the branches, then landed on a balcony.
Its orange-red feet hopped lightly, tilting its head to examine the still-closed door, then jumped onto the doorknob, tapping it with a ding-ding.
“Got it~” a lazy voice drifted from inside the room.
About ten minutes later, a beautiful figure with golden hair, dressed in pajamas, opened the door and stepped onto the balcony.
She raised her hand to take the small bird, then leaned back in a chair on the balcony, yawning as she removed the small gem from the bird’s leg.
Holding the gem in her hand, she instinctively channeled aspect power from memory, dispelling the seal. A stream of silver text then projected into the air, appearing line by line before slowly fading away.
“Ha~~” she stretched her body long and yawned, looking at the text.
“So, there’s a mission for me, to make glass for Lantern Town. What is that place, I’ve never even heard of it.” After saying that, she leaned back in the chair and went back to sleep, her full chest gently rising and falling.
She didn’t wake up again until the sun was directly overhead, shining brightly in her eyes.
At this point, the pink bird continued to jump on her, stepping around and reminding her that she hadn’t replied yet.
“Alright, alright, I know, isn’t it just going to the Dark Mist Mountains for support? Remember to give me three times the reward points, otherwise, I won’t move an inch.”
She picked up the gem again, and lines of golden text were imprinted within it. Then, following a special secret method, she sealed it and reattached the gem to the bird’s toe.
The pink bird leaped up, pecked the woman’s forehead, then deftly dodged her hand, flying into the sky, and soon disappeared.
“This fellow, she’s really taking me for granted now,” she grumbled, then returned to the room.
…
Three weeks later, Dark Mist Mountains, Black Lion Wilderness.
A golden-haired woman lay on the hay bale of a carriage, gazing at the swirling layers of clouds above. Beside her was a wide, golden-red hat. Her skirt had a daring side slit, revealing black fishnet stockings, and a light, intricate golden chain hung from her waist, from which several small, square pendants dangled.
Facing the swirling firmament above, she raised her fingers, several brightly colored gems clutched between them, shimmering with different lights.
Then, these gems floated up, flashing and combining, transforming into an exquisite, spiky crystal pendant hovering in the air. Its crystal structure was radial, and its colors spun counter-clockwise, transitioning from orange-yellow to deep purple.
In about half a day, a special alchemical creation of “Tier 3” quality or higher materialized and fell into her hand.
;
Lantern Town, mansion, third floor.
Hylial was sitting by the window, attending to town affairs. Occasionally, a breeze would rustle through the leaves outside the window, flipping the pages of the books and papers on her desk.
“Senior Lia,” a younger girl clattered up the stairs and walked into Hylial’s office.
“What is it?” The girl looked up, tilting her head slightly, her head emerging from the stacks of books and papers.
“The supply convoy has arrived.”
“Mhm.”
“They brought a lot of things this time. Also, an alchemist came, saying she wants to see you.”
“Wants to see me? Who is she?” Hylial was slightly surprised.
“Yes, she looks very impressive and says she’s a genius alchemist from ‘Rainbow Glazed Bottle’.”
A genius alchemist, the girl thought to herself, she sounds very confident. “Alright, I’ll be right there.” She sped up slightly, finished the documents in front of her, and then stood up.
A few minutes later, Hylial found the “genius alchemist” sitting at a table in the town’s restaurant, legs crossed, eating ice cream.
“Hello, I’m Hylial.” The girl approached her.
“Oh, hello, hello~” she licked the ice cream from her tongue, looking utterly engrossed in its flavor.
After eating the scoop of ice cream, the young and alluring alchemist finally shifted her attention and began to introduce herself.
“My name is Dorothy, from ‘Rainbow Glazed Bottle’. I heard you needed a capable alchemist here, so I came over.”
“My current rank is ‘Tier 3. Glorious Moon’. I’ve mastered 314 material transformation formulas and 17 advanced material preparation techniques, and I can cast six core gem spells. Unless it’s something too ancient, I can help you sort it out. If you give me enough resources, making a few ‘Tier 4’ exquisite creations for you wouldn’t be a problem.”
After speaking, she stood up, looked at the silver-haired girl in front of her, rested her chin gently on Hylial’s head, and then embraced her.
“Wow, you’re so cute. I definitely came to the right place this time, tee hee.”
Hylial wasn’t actually short, about 165 cm, but the beautiful golden-haired figure in front of her seemed to be around 178 cm, tall and graceful.
Pushing Dorothy away, Hylial shook her silver hair, then took a few steps back.
“Please don’t be so intimate right away.” She wasn’t used to being hugged so suddenly.
“Oh, oh, are you shy? But you still look beautiful, you know,” Dorothy wagged a finger, winking playfully with one eye.
Is this person always so casual? Hylial thought to herself.
Turning her head away, not wanting to look at Dorothy’s winking, starlit eye, Hylial explained the recent situation.
“…Oh, I get it. You want me to help you make more high-grade glass to resist the storms and use it to grow flowers, right?” She understood immediately.
“No problem. While I haven’t mixed much glass spirit liquid, I did exchange and learn a bit at the ‘Six Branches of Glazed Glass School’ before. One of my good friends there taught me many secrets. As long as you can provide enough materials, it’s fine.”
After speaking, she stretched her body and looked around.
“The restaurant here is very good today; I had some delicious ice cream. In the future, if you want me to work, Lia will have to give me an ice cream every day~”
“Only ice cream?” Hylial tilted her head.
“Of course, there are also the association’s reward points, but with the extra ice cream, I’ll work even better~☆”
“Alright, I understand.” Hylial nodded.
“Mhm mhm, oh, by the way, where is the accommodation you arranged for me? It needs to be high up, I hate bugs, the view should be good, and the lighting decent. It must have a balcony for my afternoon naps, oh, and a big bathroom for bathing…”
Once she started, she seemed unable to stop. The students accompanying Hylial beside her started to get headaches from listening.
“I understand,” Hylial said, nodding and agreeing directly after the other party finished speaking.
“Really? Are you sure you remembered all my requests?” Dorothy looked at the silver-haired girl in front of her.
“Of course, I did.” Hylial shook her head slightly, wondering if the other party was underestimating her.
“You requested to stay on the third floor or higher, away from bugs, with a south-facing balcony, a quiet environment, and a private bathroom…” Hylial clarified each point, perfectly summarizing Dorothy’s rambling requests from the past few minutes.
“Wow, you really are a smart child. It’ll definitely be easier to get along with you in the future.” Dorothy’s satisfaction with this mission soared once again.
After speaking, she once again embraced Hylial, attempting to lift the girl, but the silver-haired maiden effortlessly dodged her.
“I told you not to suddenly hug me,” the girl complained, playfully resisting, her toes tapping as she leaped out of Dorothy’s reach.
Afterward, amidst laughter and conversation, the two, newly acquainted, gradually grew more familiar with each other.
